Chicago newspaperman Harold Stampede is sent to find the seven most nefarious killers in the closing days of the Old West. The man who will help him is U.S. Marshal One-Eyed Jack Black, a one-time famous gunslinger with an unquestionable reputation who has realized the times are changing and the need for his kind is dwindling – that is until outlaw Steele Hellstrom turns up on the scene. Action-packed with a dash of romance and humor, Seven Killers is Amazon’s bestseller author Ash Lingam’s best novel to date.
Ash Lingam was born and raised in Southern Ohio, not far from the mighty Ohio River. He had somewhat of an isolated upbringing on a family farm with his sisters. His best friends were his horse, Sugar, and his grandfather. Born in 1886, the family patriarch grew crops, raised cattle, and doted on the young boy. At his grandfather’s side, Ash learned about livestock and firearms at an early age. His grandad carried an old Colt with him at all times, helping spawn a young boy’s dreams of yesteryear. Ash was only eight years old when his grandad taught him how to trap muskrats to prevent them from draining the farm’s ponds. He gave him a double-barreled shotgun at twelve and taught him how to hunt to put food on the table. It wasn’t long before Ash was breaking horses. His spirited Tennessee Walker never allowed any other rider on her back. Together, they searched through the plowed fields in the spring, looking for Miami Indian arrowheads to add to his grandfather’s ample collection. Ash’s family was among the early settlers in pre-Revolutionary America. He has traced his lineage back to around 1746 when his ancestors immigrated from Europe to the aspiring American Colonies. A retired marketing executive, Ash devotes his spare time to training police dogs and writing novels. He has found his niche in the Western, historical fiction, and adventure genres. With his vast vault of experience, he never runs out of sources for new stories. He has lived in eleven different countries and worked in a total of forty-six, To date, Ash has written approximately 130 novels, short stories, and poems. More than one hundred of his eclectic titles help the American frontier come alive for his readers.

An interesting western with a dime novel flavor. Chicago newsman Harold Stampede is sent West to interview the seven most notorious killers of the West. Marshall Jack Black, a milk-drinking good guy turned whiskey-swilling gunslinger, is hired to help him find them. Halfway through the story, a famous Broadway singer who met Harold before he left Chicago, decides she's in love with him and heads West to find him, establishing herself as a proponent of women's rights while waiting in Kansas City for his return.
This one has a "True Grit" flavor and except for a few misuse of homonyms, is a very entertaining tale indeed. Looking forward to Book 2.

Paired with a guardian ,older Marshall Jack Black, a young journalist is assigned to interview 7 killers for a Chicago paper run by a true bully. A grand story of the Marshall teaching his charge to be self reliant. A truly great western. Highly recommend.
So having just finished book 1 of the Seven Killers series I have enjoyed it thoroughly can't wait for book 2. Marshall One Eye Jack Black rates up there with Captain Creek
This was a good read, and the characters are mostly realistic, with a bit of tongue in cheek. The author has put together a good group of people that have no problem with anything, and that's what makes it good.
I really tried to like this book but finally stopped reading 2/3 of the way through. There is a lot of crude language throughout, which is what made me decide to put it down. Otherwise, it was interesting and well-written.
This book is simple and complex. A simple plot surrounded by unique way to tell a story. The tale reads well and is a relaxing day to spend the evening.
A very good Western read. Delightful characters, tall tales, and some good old Western wisdom. Recommended if you enjoy westerns with some humor added for spice.
My first Ash western. A fast paced action thriller. Not much cowboy talk or run of the mill cowboy duties but lots of cowboy shootouts. Culminating with a surprised plot twist at the end. I enjoyed this one.
