ARSÈNE THE FIRST TRILOGY. Arsène Lupin Gentleman Burglar; Arsène Lupin vs. Herlock Sholmes; This collection features the first three ARSÈNE LUPIN novels, the amazingly popular french detective and crime novels. Arsène Lupin is a gentleman thief, a character created by French writer Maurice Leblanc, considered the french Arthur Conan Doyle. In fact, Lupin has been compared many times with Sherlock Holmes, and in fact, Le Blanc borrowed Sherlock Holmes, who appears in several of Lupin's book. Due to a complain by Doyle, the name was changed to Herlock Sholmes.
Maurice Leblanc (1864 - 1941) was a French novelist, best known as the creator of gentleman thief (later detective) Arsène Lupin.
Leblanc began as a journalist, until he was asked to write a short story filler, and created, more gallant and dashing than English counterpart Sherlock Holmes.
I got sucked into the Netflix adaptation like a lot of people and wanted to read some of the original stories. Very enjoyable, easy to read, and fun. If you are unfamiliar he is basically the French Sherlock Holmes mixed with a burglar. He actually goes head to head with Sherlock Holmes on several occasions in the stories. Plan to read more of them, but enjoyed this first trilogy as good introduction.
Arsene Lupin is France's greatest master criminal. In these books his character is developed as the gentleman burglar. He is smart intelligent and brilliant at disguises.
Easy to read.
