When her boss asks for her help on a high profile intellectual property case, the last person attorney Mila Kingston expects to walk into her office is the gorgeous stranger she had an unforgettable one night stand with on her birthday. Navy SEAL Griffin Black has been upfront since the beginning that he’s not looking for love or commitment, which is just fine with Mila, who’s focused on her career and certainly doesn’t have time for a charming playboy. However she can’t pass up the opportunity to represent Griffin and his brother in a landmark trade secret case involving a plant from the Amazon with the potential to cure cancer and the greedy woman who will stop at nothing to possess the rights to the research.
Although Mila’s determined to keep him at arm’s length, the more time she spends with Griffin, the harder it is to resist his easy going charm and his promises of forbidden pleasures. Before long, Mila is entangled with Griffin in a battle for the rights to medical research that could change the world of medicine, as well as her heart.
NOTE: ALTHOUGH PART OF A TRILOGY, MATCHLESS IS A STANDALONE NOVEL
The Black Brothers Trilogy three brothers, bound by a secret that could change the world of medicine. Three women, hired to protect the secret that someone is willing to kill for. The last thing they expected to find was love.
Brynley Bush (also know as Brynley Blake) has had a lifelong love affair with words. She earned her degree in English and Creative Writing and wrote magazine feature stories for years before turning to writing fiction. She writes the kind of books she likes to read: steamy contemporary romances featuring smart, sassy heroines with a sense of humor and strong, dominant alpha males who love their women a little feisty.
Brynley loves rainy days, books, worn-in jeans, hot coffee, traveling to new places, the way words can weave into poetry, and happily ever afters. She lives in Texas with her family and an assortment of pets. When she's not writing, she loves to read, spend time with her family, and travel.
Matchless is the second book of the Black Brothers Trilogy by Brynley Bush. This series just keeps getting better and better. Believe me when I tell you you will love this book! Do you like a hot, alpha guy that knows exactly what a woman wants and needs? Griffin Black is that man. Do you like a strong, smart female that knows when to let go? Mila Kingston is that girl.
Griffin was a weak and helpless child due to a diagnosis of childhood leukemia. The cure that saved his life spurred his adoptive father's life's work and made him the man that he is now. Vowing to never be that weak and helpless little boy again Griffin set out to be the strongest man that he could be. Now, he's the one that protects. As a Navy SEAL he takes on some of the most dangerous missions. When he's home he'll stop at nothing to protect his family. And right now his family is being threatened. Someone is trying to steal the research that his father has spent most of his adult life cultivating and make a synthetic version to put on the market. Through a recommendation from a fellow SEAL Griffin is hiring an attorney hoping that she can find a way to protect Dr. Black's research and make it where only he can use it. When he discovers that his new attorney is the woman that he hasn't been able to get off his mind after that one night Griffin can't help but wonder if this is a sign.
Mila Kingston celebrated her 30th birthday in a way that she never had before. She met a smoking hot guy and went home with him. This was the night that ruined her for all other men. But, sadly one night was all it could ever be. At least that's what she thought until she walked into her boss's office and saw Griffin standing there. Now, she will be working closely with Griffin and trying her best to keep a professional distance. This proves to be impossible when faced with a sexy, dominant Black that knows what her body needs before even she knows.
These Black boys sure know how to make a girl squirm. Griffin was exactly what Mila needed. He was her strength when she didn't know she needed to let go. She was there to save Griffin when he thought it was his family that needed saving. Anything I write does not give this book justice. You have to read this story!
Amazing. Simply breathtaking, I laughed, I cried, I lived this story. The emptiness feeling along with the full loving warmth, Brynley you are my newest favourite author. I can't thank you enough for writing exactly what I needed to read.
Wow, this series just keeps getting steamier. This is the second book in The Black Brother's Trilogy. We get to learn more about Griffin who we got glimpses of in the first book. Let me be clear, for complete reading pleasure these books should be read in order. While the books do not have cliffhanger endings there is a secondary story intertwined with the love story and it would be best understood read in order.
Mila is needing to celebrate her birthday and stepping out of her comfort zone she is on the lookout for a body tingling mind numbing good time. The sexy guy at the corner of the bar certainly is an excellent candidate and Mila has an amazing birthday. But back to real life, she leaves the man who sated every desire without a goodbye. Imagine her shock when she meets her new client the following week and it is none other than Griffin, her birthday fling. The chemistry of this couple is palpable during the entire book and it is off the charts hot. Despite being able to offer her any future Griffin can't help but wanting to spend more time with Mila and as much as she protests, she can't get Griffin off her mind. Bush did an amazing job describing Mila and Griffin's encounters. The imagery created definitely goes down on my list of most memorable encounters. From dinner at Griffin's to the role play at the club and finely their night on the beach...wow. Can I get a fire extinguisher please.
Now I have to admit that even though that final beach scene had to be one of the hotter encounters I have read I truly don't know how I feel about it. It just seemed wrong and almost too close for comfort. Trust me, you need to read this to understand what I'm talking about. This along with the fact that Griffin knows he will need to leave really bothered me. How could that have been the last encounter he wanted to leave her with...ugh. Despite this, I truly loved Griffin's character.
Now as I mentioned before there is the continuation of the story involving Griffin's dad, his brother Beckett, and we certainly can't forget Camille even though we would really like to. I feel rather then overwhelming me like this story angle did in the first book, it actually added a lot of depth to the story this time around. I am certain this story will continue in to Drake's book. And after getting more of Drake in this book I cannot wait to get to know Beckett and Griffin's little brother better.
Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Things are heating up in the bedroom and the courtroom…
This is the second book in a trilogy so if you read the first you are very familiar with the appeal and panty-melting qualities of the handsome Black brothers. If you haven’t read the first instalment, you really want to as each book builds and continues moving the story forward.
Mila Kingston didn’t know it but Griffin, the “this can’t be more than a one night stand” man, was her next client. While she understood that their encounter would be brief after it was over she didn’t want it to be. Seeing him again so quickly, and having to work together so closely, was difficult but she was determined to be professional. Even if it killed her…
I loved how Griffin and Mila’s story came together. It was sexy, saucy, caustic and smart. The plot is intriguing and the players are complex with lines of black and white blurring. Both of the leads are professional and intelligent while the sexual tension and heat between them is combustible. This is definitely a romance with the sexiness quota threatening to break the thermometer in some scenes. If you are reading a paperback have the fire extinguisher ready!
Dominance and submission are clearly a recurring theme in this series though I love how it is treated in a “not in your face, this is BDSM” kind of way. You are not schooled in the rules but are merely exposed to it through behaviour and sensual encounters. And school is heating up!
The story reads quickly as there is so much going on with Mila and Griffin working through their relationship while staying one step ahead of the ‘bad guys’. The mystery continues and thank goodness there is one more brother to lead the fight! ~ Diane, 5 stars

The second book in the Black Brothers Trilogy and I enjoyed this book more than the first one of Beckett.
In the second book we meet Griffin. He is a Navy Seal and does security. He is an easy-going, alpha-male, dominate, that takes care of what's his.
Mila, is an independent woman, that has a great career on shoulder as a lawyer. She goes out and celebrates her 30th birthday with her friends. They end up at the Tipsy Crow, which is a bar/dance club/pool hall, once they are inside, Mila feels these eyes on her instantly. She can't help and looks into eyes that are beautiful, but she also feels the cockiness this man has.
"I long for him, for the feel of his body next to mine, his warm eyes caressing me, his strong hands possessing my body as surely as the man himself has possessed my soul."
I think about 35% into the book, I couldn't put it down. I wanted to keep reading and find out what happens between Mila and Griffin. The sexual chemistry between Mila and Griffin is undeniable. I blushed at some of the things that came out of Griffin's mouth and he's not wooing me. This was a really great book to read and can't wait to read the third book.
Wow Griffin's book was just as good if not better than Beckett' s . The second book in this series gives more In depth Knowledge of the three Black brothers. After reading Beckett' s book I thought Griffin's can't be hotter then his, but boy was I wrong. I do love a Navy Seal , all protective and bad ass, hotter then Hades, loyal and dependable!! The Black brothers are some dominant males, who love fiercely, protect the ladies they give their hearts to and have each others back no matter what. These books not only have love, romance light bdsm and heat but are wrapped up in an amazing story! Each story is about a different brother finding true love but the stories crossover each other and build from story to story. So read in order. HEA, no cliffhanger persay but the story does continue in to the next brothers book. This is a new author for me and I'm super happy I stumbled upon her. Highly enjoyable read and recommend to anyone who loves a good story with heat, dominate men and strong female leads.
Oh yeah, Griffin was as hot as his big brother (but Beckett is my fav) and we get to meet little brother, Drake. Most of the questions from the first book are answered, except for one or two. I loved Mila, too. She was amazing and didn't take any flack from any of the brothers. I can't wait for February and the last book.
Mila and Griffin couldn’t be any more perfectly matched if dreamt up by natural design, get ready for destiny with this duo! Mila is a strong, sassy, confident, beautiful woman that knows herself and take no prisoners. Being a classy trial attorney in California she prides herself on her brains and guts - and they serve her well. She may be a workaholic but she does have a group of loyal wonderful friends so she is quite fulfilled… or at least she thought she was until a dare on her birthday leads her into the arms of Griffin Black. She could blame the drinks or the fact that since it was her night she deserved a night of recklessness - but truthfully the minute Griffin put his hands on her their night of passion was a forgone conclusion. She never expected her one night stand to be awaiting her in her office bright and early Monday morning as her newest client…. This case is her bread and butter and groundbreaking to boot so there is no chance of walking away so it seems that they will just have to forget the lust and work the law! Ignoring the crazy chemistry with Griffin proves to be impossible and he is more than willing to repeat their astonishing night and throw in some even more romantic days. But with his Navy SEAL job, their fling was always marked with an expiration date and Mila is already in so deep so fast with the incredible Griffin. Between the case and his pending exit Mila is waiting for a shoe to drop somewhere all while falling deeper and deeper for her perfect match!
So, when asked to write a review for the book I just read, Amazon suggests that I put either what I like or dislike about the book. Well, I wish I could tell you everything I liked about the story, but there’s basically nothing I disliked about the book. Everything was so incredible! The plot I just loved. Well done and easy to follow. The characters were great. They wove between stories seamlessly and I had no trouble following who and what story we were talking about. I floved the smexy scenes between Mila and Griffin. Totally hawt!!! All parts combined to make a 😲 WOW book that a thoroughly enjoyed!!
I read #2 without #1 but don't feel like I missed anything. Editing at the last quarter of the book was poor with several mistakes and errors. A lot of s*x, many instances and very long and drawn out. S*x scenes were written well but just a little much when there was so much intrigue, mystery and legal issues going on. Would have been better to spend some more time developing those aspects. I lost interest when Griffin who loved Mila so much, suddenly brings his brother in to have sex with them together. Not sure why that was even added to the story but I was really turned off.
Every woman over 30 should have a Griffin in her life, even for a short time! And, every girl over 20 needs a Mila to push her to become the best she can be. This might be the best erotic novel I’ve read. The sexual energy was palpable. A great mix of grown up sex, love, respect and danger. Move over Mr. Grey!
This writer and her stories have just become one of my click without reading writers. Her stories pull you in from the first word and keep you reading till the last. It has everything you could want in a story. Wow. Definitely a one click.
Oh my...sweet plus dominant equals Griffin. He was truly amazing. His kindness loyalty and love. All the while being an Alpha male. Mmm mmm. Loved this book now off to read about the last brother. He has big shoes to fill lol.
Well written about that story ,makes you thinking how much the scientists works out for the care and health of the humanities . This book was mixing feelings and fictional brilliant characters.😊For open minds readers recommended.
Loved this book!!!! I couldn't put it down. I read the first one and loved it. Can't wait to read the third one next. The sexual tension could be felt through out the book between Mila and Griffin, each sexual encounter even better. I cried when Drake told Mila, Griffin was gone and all she had was a note. The love of the family and the ones they call their own can be felt through out the 1&2 book and I'm sure the third too.
I seldom give five stars, but this book was great! Editing was good, story !ine good. Kept my attention and got me to buy the next in the series, even though this is a standalone.

My Thoughts
I have to start by thanking the folks at Netgalley for making me aware of this series by gifting me with this 2nd installment to the series. it's what got me to pick up the first one and to really enjoy the story enough to go to book 2 and i can't wait for book 3.
Where we met Beckett in the first installment, the eldest and the most dominant it seems, in this 2nd one we meet Griffin in more depth and get to have his journey. In it, we get to focus on Mila, a 30 yr old lawyer prodigy of sorts who's not only fallen in love with Griffin before realizing that hes her client, but who finds that he not only challenges her in her profession but in life and love as well.
Mila had thrown herself into her career full force knowing that it was what she wanted more than being in a relationship that may not work out. it's on her birthday that she links eyes with Griffin in a bar and that we see that as a result of a dare from a friend that her life is going to turn off path. A night of amazing passion and what she thought was just a one night stand turns into weeks and weeks of chemistry and sparks.
After that first weekend she discovers that Griffin is a client, trying to protect the research that we learned about in the first book and Mila is his best chance at success since she's been truly successful in these sorts of cases. The story here is a journey of seeing Mila try to protect not only the research and learnings but her heart as they grow closer.
The nice thing here is that while in the first book we got the definite taste of BDSM from Beckett, well we know that Griffins taste are similar in the sense that he likes to control and cammand, but the way that he goes about it has a bit more finesse and romance i think. We get to see the softer side of the dominant man underneath and that he wants to bring all of the pleasure in the world to Mila. IT's hot and steamy all at the same time - don't get me wrong, but it's a slightly different take. We see that he brings her fantasies to life - a threesome of sorts, and well - that always makes for some hot reading.
On top of the romance and the court case, we get the continued story of trying to find out exactly what's happened. There's a curiosity since there was a huge grant funding the research and no one can track down who's behind it. THere's a fear that it's Camille but no one is able to trace the money. Then there's the matter of getting the real information from Gavin - he's admitted to some of what he's done being his own motivations and not Camille's but.....there's more to that story - and Dominic - the owner of the BDSM club comes into the mix a bit more. I'm still curious about him - i'm not sure that we ever really get to the bottom of his story.
Add to that, a few deaths, a few faked deaths and a few reappearances and well - you've got some interesting reading. Part of me hopes that in the third an final installment (Drake's story) that we get to the bottom of all the unanswered questions - but i also don't want it to detract from what i hope will be something hot and amazing. Drake is a successful musician, and in my experience in this genre- those are the ones that either
Matchless by Brinley Bush Book #2: Black Brothers Trilogy Source: Netgalley and Purchase My Rating: 4/5 stars My Review:
**CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR BOOK #1, FEARLESS**
Round two of the Black Brothers Trilogy belongs to middle son, Griffin Black, a navy SEAL with a penchant for domination, protection, and adventure. Like his older brother, Beckett, Griffin will do anything to protect his family and for the time being that means taking a leave of absence from the Navy. The Black family is knee-deep in a lawsuit related to the elder Black’s research into a cure for cancer and Griffin is at the center of the mess. Knowing he needs someone he can absolutely trust, Griffin turns to an old friend who is now a lawyer for help.
Mila Kingston is very good at her job and her specialty, intellectual property takes a considerable amount her time. Much to her mother’s great displeasure, Mila is focused on her career and not at all interested in a long-term relationship. A one-night stand is a very good idea though. The panty-dropping gorgeous SEAL she met at the bar on her birthday was exactly what Mila needed and the things she did with him will be seared in her memory for years. And come crashing to the forefront of her thoughts first thing Monday morning when she finds him sitting in her boss’s office. Well, hell. So much for a no-strings-attached-never-thought-I-would-see-you-again fling.
Once the awkwardness is out of the way and Griffin has his say (and other things!) about Mila sneaking out, the work to help the Black family begins. The situation is a sticky, awful mess but it is a phenomenal opportunity for Mila for do what she does best and continue to see Griffin. Griffin is very clear about his situation, he wants to help his family and be with Mila for as long as his career will allow him to. In the time he is granted, Griffin intends to be with Mila in every way imaginable and some he hasn’t even considered until the moment he met her. For Mila, Griffin is an absolute revelation and once she agrees to be with him, there is no going back. Griffin’s sense of adventure, his honor and, his extremely kinky mind is everything Mila could hope for in man. You know, if she were looking for a long-term commitment.
As the days and weeks go by, Mila buries herself in work with her every thought and effort going toward Girffin’s case. Though she is young, Mila is incredibly intelligent and crafty when it comes to the law. She knows her stuff and as she learns more of Griffin’s story and exactly how he is involved, she becomes all the more determined to sway the judge to their side. Meeting the rest of Griffin’s family (and soon to be family) just seals the deal for Mila and she knows, when all is said and done, leaving Griffin is going to be the hardest thing she has ever done.
From the very beginning, Griffin knows his job will call him back into service and he will be forced to leave Mila. Like Mila, Griffin expected a simple one-night stand but Mila is everything and when he has to walk away, it damn near kills him. To make matters far, far worse, Griffin leaves after the most beautifully erotic night either has ever experienced and before the court case can be settled. With nothing more than a goodbye letter, Mila picks up the pieces of her broken heart and moves forward as best she can. Little did either of them know, the sh*t has only just begun to hit the fan.
The Bottom Line: Yep, round two of the Black Brothers Trilogy pulled me right in and kept me hooked from start to finish. Griffin is a less severe version of his older brother, Beckett but he is no less sexy for it. He is strong, intelligent, capable, sexy, and fiercely loyal. Though he never saw his life taking the course it is, Mila is non-negotiable and will he do anything to be with her. His romantic side is balanced by his kinky side and Mila (and me!) that makes him a thoroughly likeable character. Mila is an instantly likeable character though she does make some dumb choices in the name of self-preservation. Her relationship with Griffin grows so quickly but it is clear, even in the direst moments that the relationship is meant to be! There is more than a suitable amount of action in this read, some truly excellent naughty bits (the island scene!!!!), a continuation of the plot established in book one, Fearless, the return of old characters, and a clear indication of where the third book in the trilogy, Shameless is going. All in all, a really good read :)
Milena - Mila - Kingston is celebrating her birthday together with her friends in a club where she meets the handsome and sexy Navy SEAL Griffin Black. There is a strong instant attraction between them which encourages Mila to break her own rules by allowing herself a one-night stand with the gorgeous stranger. They spend some unforgettable hours together full of passion and with the intention to go separate ways next day as neither of them is looking for love or a relationship. But fate puts them back together when it turns out that Mila is the attorney who is going to represent him and his family in the intellectual property case concerning his father's research results which could change the world of medicine forever. They are very surprised to see each other again, much to Mila's discomfort and Griffin's pleasure. She wants nothing but a strictly professional relationship with him. He on the other hand wants to spend more time with this beautiful and smart woman who he can't get out of his head although he knows that it is limited. Mila will soon realize that resisting the charming and dominant Griffin Black is a fruitless venture when her body and mind equally crave him. Both agree on a temporary arrangement - they will do everything possible to protect Dr. Patrick Black's work and enjoy their time together as long as it lasts. Little did they know that deep feelings are going to develop on both sides and start to complicate things. Can Mila help Griffin and his family against the ruthless woman who stops at nothing to get her greedy fingers on the rights to the research? What are Mila and Griffin going to do when they figure out that what they have found in each other is truly matchless?
This book has some twists and turns that I didn't see coming. There is a scene which happens at 80% of the book that I didn't like and which was in my opinion unnecessary and somehow disturbing. The only thing which made me ignore it and still enjoy the rest of the book was the deep and sincere love between Griffin and Mila which was absolutely palpable. These two had undeniable chemistry from page one. You could literally see the sparks flying everywhere. They had lots of hot and steamy scenes together which will leave you breathless and wishing for a bucket full of ice. You have been warned!
"You want someone who can make you lose yourself, someone who you can get lost in. You want to fall. And I want to be the one to push you, and the one to catch you at the bottom. We're perfect for each other, Mila."
I absolutely adored Griffin. He is an easy-going and selfless person but also strong-willed, tough and honorable. Griffin has the heart of a lion. Mila is such a likable heroine. She is successful, independant, intelligent but also brave and bold. This spitfire was exactly the woman Griffin needed in his life.
I loved this book and highly recommend it. I can't wait to read the next story in this series about the third Black brother - Drake Maddox, the country singer. I'm looking forward to see what Brynley has in tow for us.
***I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review!*** (4.5 Stars)
This was my favorite book in this series. I absolutely loved Griffin and Mila! I liked the way that they were introduced to each other. It was clear their chemistry was off the charts right from the beginning. I found Griffin's alpha male personality to be completely intoxicating. I mean, who doesn't love a NAVY SEAL?
I really enjoyed the interaction between Mila and Griffin. Mila was a smart, sassy, confident woman used to being in charge of her life and the situations around her. Griffin is a man used to getting what he wants, and bulldozing over anything that gets in his way. When he decides that he wants Mila, he doesn't let her protests stop him in the least.
The author does an incredible job of writing very believable characters, and adding in some new background information to expand on the story. Mila was portrayed incredibly well. The legal jargon and case information that was provided was well written and easy to follow. Either the author knows a bit about the subject, or she did some fantastic research.
The sex scenes between these two were steamy!! I found them to be well written. It is clear that each man in this family has a bit of a dominant personality, which I do like, but in some ways seems out-of-place that every single one of them likes the same type of sexual behavior. Maybe that's just me though. I think that the author does a good job of describing the sexual appetites of each couple, and making them interesting to the reader. It's not the same thing every single time, and there were some pretty complicated scenes in this book.
There were some major things that happened in this book that I didn't like. Again, some of the same places are visited in every book and I don't feel that they are necessary to the story line. There is one scene in particular that took away from my enjoyment. While there was a very, very small mention of this towards the beginning of the book, this felt completely out-of-place. I didn't enjoy it at all, because I felt it was gratuitous. It added nothing to the book, and without any warning that it was going to occur, I felt let down. I don't mind reading these types of story lines, but I am the type of reader that reads then when I am in a certain mood and I know what I am in for. In some situations I find it okay, when people live that lifestyle, but when it's just thrown in there and everyone acts like it is no big deal, it just seems strange or forced to me. There were still some editing issues with this book, but it was very much improved. I loved this book so much, and I would have given it a five-star rating if this scene was left out.
Overall, I think that this is a good series, with interesting characters, a fresh story line, and is very well put together. I definitely recommend this book! You will absolutely fall in love with Mila and Griffin!
There were quite a few really good things about this book and I want to lead with them. The characters were interesting and the plot line was intricate and wanted to do things. I like the character development and this author is very good at the erotic sex scenes that are unusual and yet intimate between the partners.
Mila’s a kick-ass attorney in San Diego who’s working for a former Navy SEAL. When Marcus asks her to take over a case for a friend who’s a SEAL, it’s a no-brainer. Of course you help on anything the boss asks you to. But it’s a big oopsie when she goes into the meeting and meets the one-night-stand from the weekend before. Ouch. However, we’re all big kids and we can get through this. But Griffin doesn’t play that way. Even though he can’t promise her forever, he wants her for now. As in RIGHT now. All the time she’s got NOW. And he’s a cutie! Big muscles, tanned skin, blonde curls…
At first Mila’s reluctant. Stay in a relationship where you’re bound to get connected and then get left? Can she do it? It appears her body is willing to pay the price, so her mind decides to space out for the ride. But as she gets drawn deeper into the case and into Griffin Black and his family, her brain clicks on again and it might not be as easy to disengage when it’s time to end this thing as she had hoped. Or he had hoped either. For it’s a two sided thing that’s going on here.
There’s a family of three brothers, and this is the second book. The first book about the oldest brother Beckett Black hints at a D/s relationship with a researcher named Emmaline Hart called Fearless. A third book will also follow about the youngest brother, Drake Black, who is a country and western music star and apparently also a D/s.
Let’s just say the non-romance parts of the story weren’t as compelling to me.The case gets whack-a-doodle and the whodunit becomes a little confusing and slightly unbelievable. Her legal skills are a little hard to follow. I’d prefer the author stick to the good stuff–the sex. The relationships. The fun. She’s awesome at that!
So, to sum it up: 4 for the romance and for the alpha males and the relationships. 3 for the slightly kooky and not altogether believable suspense part. And mix it up and throw on some magic almost-Christmas glitter that is the BDSM and a little exhibitionism and whatever and you get a 4.5 which rounds this book off to a 4. Enjoy!
Reviewed by Lori Book provided by Brynley Bush Review originally posted at Romancing the Book
This is the second book in the series, and this is a BDSM themed book. If this is something that may be questionable, then this book may not be for you. This book can be read as a standalone and the other books aren’t required in order to understand what is going on in this book.
I just wanted to get that out of the way before I delve into the magic of this book. Ms. Bush’s books really are magic. There’s suspense, romance (tons of it), and an element of BDSM that gives her books that hard edge that rocks it out.
This book is more edgy then the first book in the series. It has more BDSM scenes between the two main characters. The chemistry between the two main characters is hotter, and I think there is more to gain and to lose romantically, and emotionally, then in the first book. I’m so excited!!!
Mila, our female protagonist, is smart, classy, and much like our hero Griffin, has no interest in finding a relationship, let alone one that has elements of BDSM. She is focused on her career, her friends, and doing her thing. It’s funny how fate takes a hand on our best laid plans. Mila is afraid of falling for Griffin and getting hurt in the process. She tries keeping a wall up between her and Griffin, and well, sparks fly. That’s the best reading in my opinion, when sparks fly, and fighting ensues.
Griffin is a man that loves control and enjoys doling out pain. He expects respect, and gives it as well, just like his brother Beckett (from book one), but that’s where the similarities end. Griffin is more dark then Beckett, he’s more of a sadist. Beckett was more romantic and Griffin is more harder, edgier, and enjoys giving pain with the pleasure.
Beckett was a man that was serious all the time, in and out of the bedroom, where as Griffin had a more social easygoing nature, until he’s in the bedroom and that’s where he becomes serious and stern. I think Griffin is more scarier because you never know when the serious stern side to him will emerge, it will keep Mila on her toes.
In my experience, some of the books that contain BDSM seem to have a lackluster plot. This is so not the case with Matchless by Brynley Bush. The author gracefully combines romance, BDSM, intrigue and suspense into this well-written story. The book blurb caught my attention and Ms. Bush's words kept me engaged from beginning to end. The result of the first few chapters is predictable, but in a very satisfying way.
Mila Kingston is a smart and beautiful attorney who spends most of her free time working. On her 30th birthday, her friends take her out for a good time and she ends up going home with a very dominant and handsome Navy SEAL, Griffin Black. Their hook-up is amazing, as both of them really need a night of ultimate pleasure. Surprise, on the next business day, Griffin is Mila's new client. Griffin's father and brother are physicians, and they believe Griffin survived childhood leukemia by eating the seeds of a plant native to the Amazon. Now it is Mila's job to prove that the seeds used remain within the Black family until their research is proven. As a result, Mila and Griffin's relationship evolves both professionally and personally, which leads to a future that neither of them ever dreamed possible.
I really enjoyed this book. To begin with, all the characters were interesting and I fell in love with each and every one of them. Secondly, the love scenes were beyond scorching, yet totally full of love and tenderness. Griffin's virile and sweet manner left me panting. Lastly, although Mila's best friend Olivia plays a small role, she is a real trip.
Overall, this is a thought-provoking, emotionally charged book with a great cast of characters and a creative plot. I immediately connected with Mila and Griffin, and there was never a moment that I did not want them extend their one night stand into a lifetime of happiness.
This is the second book from the Black Brothers Trilogy and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. Book one, Fearless, is now on my TBR list.

"Even though our time together is like a meteor shooting through the sky to a finite end, I'll still take the blaze of the extraordinary, no matter how brief."
Mila decides she is going to get a little wild for birthday and ends up having a one-night stand with a sexy stranger. She just never expected to see Griffin again, until that morning in her boss's office and she is introduced to her new client. Then things get really interesting.
Griffin is trying to help protect his father's research and goes to an old SEAL friend to help. He is not looking for love, he is not looking for anything really but a way to protect his family. His time has an expiration date and doesn't want to give his heart away. That is until he meets attorney extraordinaire, Mila.
Mila and Griffin have immediate chemistry and there were times that they made me laugh. Mila is a no nonsense kind of girl. She is smart, witty and is completely taken by Griffin. He opens her eyes to all of the things she was too scared to want but realizes she doesn't want to live without. Griffin, while fierce and loyal, is also fun and quirky. He is intense in the bedroom, but makes you laugh.
"I never knew what a turn on it is to be with a smart woman...I'm getting hard just listening to you talk."
I really enjoyed their story and characters. It was also interesting to see the continuation of drama caused by Camille and see what other tricks this crazy women has up her sleeve. In this book we also get to me the youngest brother...Drake...I am so looking forward to his story.
Review of Matchless (Black Brothers Trilogy #2) by Brynley Bush
Review done for Hooked on Books
4 ½ out of 5 stars
Look out because there is a new top book boyfriend in town. Griffin Black is hotter than hot, sexier than sin!
Mila Kingston is an attorney in San Diego who is assigned to a special case involving a friend of her boss. Little did she know that he was her one-night stand from the other night.
Navy Seal Griffin Black is trying to do everything he can to help his family to develop a new drug to fight cancer. His father is a researcher trying to develop a new drug from a plant in the amazon that had seemed to cure his own cancer. Unfortunately other drug companies are trying to stop them. His plan to try to stop them is to get legal help from one of his friends.
To his surprise, the lawyer assigned to the case is the beautiful woman he had in his bed a few nights ago.
As hard as Mila and Griffin try to fight their attraction, the stronger it grows. Mila doesn’t want a relationship with a Navy Seal and Griffin won’t start a relationship because of the uncertainty of his job.
The author has hit a homerun with this book! I love, love, love Griffin Black. This book continued on with the story of the Black family and this plant from the Amazon that their research is depending on.
The sex scenes were scorching hot and I just couldn’t put this book down.
I definitely recommend these books to read and I can’t wait to meet the third Black brother!
