Why do I romanticize Alaska? I'm not keen on freezing cold weather or tons of outdoor winter sports but for some reason I find a book set in Alaska and I'm halfway into a swoon before I hit the check out counter. :-)

Love Kate's unusual profession -- don't think I've ever read about a wilderness tracker heroine before. The technical details and the outdoor scenes are breath-snatchingly good. And I didn't even mind spending more time in the midst of ice and snow despite just getting rid of the white stuff after a very long winter! With Kate as my guide I might even consider a winter camp-out...especially if Micah is invited along!

And speaking of a certain compelling police officer...blissful sigh bordering on a swoon. There's something about a childhood crush that doesn't ever quite let go. Only now they are all grown up and he discovers little Kate is "like some kind of backcountry ninja." (p 63) A realization that seems to fan "...the embers of a crush he'd had on Kate since she was seven and he was nine and she'd shoved him down a hill after he'd made fun of the fort she'd built at the top of it." (p 56) And yes, Kate still rocks the girl power vibe. And Micah is smitten. Only there are tons of reasons why that isn't a good idea -- one of which is her over-protective big brother who also happens to be the chief of police. Gotta love that big bro 'tude.

A gripping romantic suspense with tons of action and a healthy dose of sweet romance.

Buona lettura ambientata in Alaska, un posto che mi piacerebbe visitare. Se devo essere sincera il mistero non mi ha preso un granché, ma la lettura è stata comunque scorrevole.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Alaskan Ambush. I always enjoy Sarah's books. I'm thrilled when I get one in the mail. I especially like the ones taking place in Moose Haven Alaska. I have always wanted to go there. This story is well written, action packed and full of faith. I know you are going to love it.

Search and Rescue Back Country Tracker Kate Dawson is on her way to her cabin in the wilderness. Her home in town had been trashed and she just needed to hide for a few days until she figured out who could be after her. When she figures it out she will call her brother the sheriff of Moose Haven. On her way to her cabin she is shot at. She arrives only to find her cabin has been trashed too. What could they be looking for? Who were they? As she tries to figure out what is going on a man breaks into the cabin. She's armed can she actually shoot him?

Anchorage Police Officer Micah Reed is being pursued in the wilderness by the men who ambushed them and killed his partner. He stumbles into their attack on another target. His best friend's little sister. She can help him get away from the killers if she will. If she doesn't shoot him first. Can he protect this woman he has always cared about?

Both of these two have issues that can cause problems as they run for their lives. Can they get over their pasts and trust each other and lean on God? God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. A plan restoration from past traumas. God has a plan for you too. A good plan and not for evil. Trust Him and give Him your all. He will turn your life around.

Alaskan Ambush was a fast read, full of action right from the start. Kate is a strong woman who saves lives for a living and is determined to find out who has targeted her, and stop them. Micah is the cop who uncovers a ring of thieves that has decided to target his childhood friend and secret crush. He'll do anything to keep her safe even if she can save herself. I really enjoyed the strength Kate has and that Micah is willing to let her take the lead without his pride getting bruised. He listens to her and learns from her. Thats pretty rare in a romance...and in most books...and in real life, lol. I really enjoyed the change. I loved that the action was fast paced and theres lots of it. A sweet romance with lots of action is the best way to spend your afternoon. Definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

I enjoyed this story for its simplicity. It starts with a problem for Kate Dawson and Micah Reed. There was a mystery to solve that was central to what was going on. There was alot of action going on and there was suspense going on. For you would think one problem was solved then another would crop up. Because of life Kate had shut herself of and blamed herself for something that wasn't hers. It a well written story that has a great ending. I look forward to reading another book about the Dawson family.

Wow...Alaskan Ambush breathes the heart of Alaska. Author, Sarah Varland wrote such engaging scenery, I felt like I was right there! Anchorage Police Officer, Micah Reed returns to his hometown while trying to take down the Delaney brothers. Out in the wilderness, everything goes wrong. His partner is shot and another woman is being targeted. Then he realizes it’s Kate Dawson and his world is turned upside down. Romance, danger and mystery surround the Dawson family once again in this Alaskan wilderness adventure.

I DNF'ed this at 25%.

I couldn't get over the fact that they have a satellite phone they're not using. If they had used it right at the start to just ALERT Kate's brother that they were being pursued and running down the mountain, maybe they could have gotten some help. It's not like the shooter didn't know where they were considering he was taking potshots at Kate and killed Micah's partner. But they were too busy eyeballing each other and fighting their old buried feelings from when they teenagers to actually do something...ugh.

Loved this book. Sarah Varland knows how to keep the reader on the edge of their seats. I have fallen in love with these Love inspired suspense books because the characters are flawed and are not perfect and that’s what has me reading these types of books more lately. Oh don’t get me wrong I love all genres in books but my first love has been Romance/ suspend.

not so good

Too much repetition in the storyline also didnt realize it was a series but the characters didn’t flow well having just picked this one up. the storyline was good but the writing style and the way the characters were portrayed or not portrayed well and all the repetition ruined to for me

Fifteen years since Kate and Micah were friends and playmates in Alaska's Kenai Peninsula. Micah, a police officer , and Kate,a search and rescue person, are brought together in pursuit of a gang running a smuggling operation. Excellent story.

Not for me.

Too predictable and the writing style didn't flow with how I read. Too much of the story is what the characters are thinking, rather than the story itself.
