This is dark ..... very dark but equally riveting as we are introduced to the character Liam. I originally thought this was a YA book, and although the main characters are teenagers this is most definitely NOT YA.
The story starts with Liam seeing violent images in his head and thinking he is either dying or insane and finishes with a very visceral ending. I was drawn into the author's Blood Series world so overwhelmingly that I downloaded the first novel in the series straight after reading this prequel!

Anya is a fairly new author to me and wow what a story. Liam is seeing images in his head like severed arms and blood everywhere, he is in class when it happens he falls to his knees and when he comes to he’s lying in vomit. Is he dying if he is his parents won’t tell him and once he’s home there are big men dressed in black at the door, they are there for him and he knows it. Now Liam is off to a school where there are other kids just like him. That’s all I’m going to give you guys and I can’t wait to read the next book. This is a fantastic start to a new series it’s a short story and it’s a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Great prequel to Shadow Walker, which I just finished today. I loved Liam in Shadow Walker and this was a perfect insight into his life and getting an idea of who and what Liam is.

3.5 this was a real quick read rating books like this are hard to rate because you only have a small amount of time with the characters but I did like it I love this authors writing and will continue to read whatever she puts out

This prequel to the coming Bloody Hearts series is very intriguing and certainly sets up the coming book Shadow Walker well, but it is really too short to get to know the characters or the world real well. While this prequel may be about a teenager, it is not intended for a YA audience as it has some disturbing violence in it. But, the author creates her world and her characters with well written words that paints vivid imagery and certainly incites readers’ curiosity about the new world and what’s coming.

Lost Boy is a great introduction into the Bloody Hearts world. It also gives us great insight into the main character Liam Walker’s life of who he is and how his world began when he first became a demon.

Lost Boy starts out with Liam being bully at school when the sickness comes upon him. Everyone thinks he is crazy but Liam knows different he knows he is not sick that the voices are real.

He is proven right when some men show up on his door stop and whisk him away to a new school where they will teach him how to use his powers and what it means to be a demon.

Lost Boy is a prequel novel but it can be read as a stand-alone and read before the first book in the Bloody Hearts series as I read the first book Shadow Walker the day before reading Lost Boy.

Lost Boy is a short story and can be read in one sitting. It is packed with lots of action and flows along smoothly and kept me hooked from beginning to end. After reading Shadow Walker and enjoyed it so much that when I saw Lost Boy at the end I had to read it too, to find out more about Liam and Thom and to read more in the world of Bloody Hearts. I can’t wait to read more in the Bloody Hearts world in the future.

I would recommend Lost Boy to all fans of paranormal, science fiction and demons.

This is a short story that builds the backstory for Shadow Walker, which I read a few days ago. It's a very quick read and I polished it off in one sitting just before bed.
In some ways, although this is a prequel, it doesn't really matter that I read it after book one. I think that it would work both ways, although you would go into Shadow Walker with a little more of an idea of who Liam is. I have to admit that I was drawn to Liam in Shadow Walker and now having seen him when first faced with who and what he is, I like him even more. This book does answer a few questions, but it has left me with even more. I've got half-formed theories and ideas about Liam, Alana, their families and their situations, but I don't want to go into details here, you'll just have to read the books and form your own.
Having read both books, I'm left wanting more and only hope that I don't have to wait too long for book two in the series.

This is a prequel novella that finds out that not all is as it seems for Liam and gives you a nice start to the beginning of the series. I’m not sure that I personally liked the direction that this story took, there is some violence, and it’s not recommended for a young audience from me, but it seemed that it went against the grain of who Liam is at the end. I think seeing how he moves through the first full length book will tell the tale of this series. So far, it’s original and has a good handle on the back story.

Well written and interesting story. Liam was bullied at his previous school, then one night two strangers appear and ask him to go where he will fit in. He takes a chance and does, much to his reckoning. I liked the character and would be happy to learn more about him. For a prequel it hit the major points and let the reader infer the rest, Not a bad read.

What a great start to the new upcoming series by Anya Cosgrove. This prequel definitely sucks you in and makes you want more! I'm actually half way through her new book that this prequel is to, Shadow Walker, and I'm already sad because I hate waiting to see what happens next. This prequel was just a tiny taste of how Liam's life started out when he became a Shadow Walker. I have to say that Marcus is one unsavory character that is easy to hate.

This short story follows main character Liam,  a high school student who is getting dark visions. He discovers he is a demon and is sent to a special school to help him manage his new abilities.

I found this to be a very dark story,  but the writing was really strong so I'm definitely interested in reading the series that follows this prequel.
I like the world that has been created and Liam is an interesting character.

I'm writing this review while about 35% thru the first book of the series "shadow walker".

While this isn't completely an absolute must to read, it does help you get a clearer understanding of how a shadow walker comes about and a bit more into Liam and Thoms start on the journey.

So, no not necessary - but highly recommended!

Poor Liam. As if high school drama was not enough without bouts of sickness and disturbing visions. And his new boarding school is no Hogwarts either. Far from romanticising demons, this little story shows the grisly obligations that seem to come with the perks of their nature. Fair warning.

It was very interesting to read the internal struggle of Liam. He was trying to enjoy his new circumstances of not being a freak. He was also trying to know and live with the other side of his being different.
For such a short story there is so much to read and learn!
