How much time is enough to do the impossible? Lizzie receives a device that will help her find the deadly Hounds of Tindalos along with a very strict warning to return it before the end of ten days. But she also must destroy Lord Kenan while he’s weakened and still in his graveyard. Unfortunately, both events must take place at the same time. She and Abel put out a call for help from powerful friends but they soon find not everyone has the ability to support Lizzie when it comes down to it. And at the last minute, when things are most precarious, she may discover she’s her own worst enemy . . . Can Lizzie and her friends complete both missions before her deadline or will traitors and weak minds cause their downfall? Andrea, a Brigham Young University graduate, is an avid reader and outdoor enthusiast (hiking, fishing, boating, biking, spending time in the Rocky Mountains, and taking walks). She spent a year and a half serving the Spanish speaking community in Toronto, Canada, and fluently speaks 2 ½ languages. She plays several instruments, not including the banjo, and loves putting together musical arrangements. Her favorite sports are basketball and football, though several knee surgeries and incurably awful coordination prevent her from playing them.
Andrea is always in the mood for a good movie with close friends and family (especially her husband and mom), with a large glass of milk and a bowl of overly buttered popcorn nearby. She also enjoys oil painting, making earrings, squeezing every bit of oxygen out of Ziploc bags, and she hopes to someday travel to Italy and Alaska.
Forbidden Knowledge is the fifth book in the Koven Chronicles. It’s my favorite yet (it seems like each one I read becomes my favorite in the series). There’s so much going on and it’s an exciting race against time to collect and neutralize the remaining hounds while at the same time gearing up to destroy Lord Kenan. There’s a bit of light romance thrown in, too, since Lizzie and Abel are finally actually together. The book is super well-written and well-edited. I very highly recommend reading this book (but first read the rest of the series)!
All of Andrea Pearson’s work is a highly entertaining blend of Fantasy/Adventure, but with the Koven Chronicle she truly shines. The action in this series spans the globe. It is filled with memorable characters both magical and mundane. More than halfway through the series, the books just keep getting better!
Lizzie and Abel have finally bridged the gap in their relationship. For the first time since her fiancé was killed during their fire impeder training, she sees a chance for a happy fulfilling future. Too bad her life and duty to eliminating the hounds won’t allow them time to pursue their relationship.
There are still far too many hounds left in the world. Lizzie is given a special globe to aid in her work, but only for ten days. Worse than the time limit is the fact that it will only help locate the hounds when there are only fifty remaining. Lizzie has no idea how many are truly left, except that for now the globe isn’t functioning, and the clock is counting down.
Lord Kenan hasn’t finished regenerating, but that hasn’t stopped him from amassing an army of evil followers. Though Lizzie has also been gaining allies to help in the battle against him when the time comes. She is sure they are still outnumbered. Will she be able to get enough people together to defeat him? Her time is surely running out here as well.
Lizzie still needs to find an assistant for her fire impeder duties in Utah. With all of her other commitments she can’t devote herself fully to her job. She doesn’t want to leave the people she has sworn to protect with no help when they need it!
How can she possibly cover all these bases and be effective? Get forbidden knowledge! The balance between good and evil depends on it!
Andrea Pearson’s Koven Chronicles truly is a masterpiece that is growing ever more complex and interesting in each installment while remaining exciting and fun, full of action and thrills in each book. The good news is that it’s a fantastically superb ride for those who have been following along from book 1 (The Shade Amulet, a truly fantastic book that I reviewed separately) is that Forbidden Knowledge (Book 5) somehow maintains the pace and keeps its readers as addictively drawn in as the prior books. The flip side of this is that, while you (kinda sorta) can read this book 5 as a stand-alone, this really is the kind of series that needs to be read from its first book. A warning for newcomers though: this is highly addictive stuff so be prepared for the compulsion that will keep you reading till blissed out exhaustion. What more can I say? But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
Great book and a excellent series by Andrea Pearson! It’s a page turner and the action keeps building up to the thrilling climax! I am so ready for the next book to come out so I can see how things wrap up this engaging series.
I heartily recommend this book to all those who enjoy a good read with characters you come to know and love or hate depending on the circumstances. Do yourself a favor and pick up The Shade Amulet (first in this series) and follow the action from the beginning forward to Forbidden Knowledge. You will be captivated like I have been in reading this series.
Kudos to Andrea Pearson who once again has come up with a winning book! I don’t have a creative imagination like she does but I’m so very grateful that I can read all about it in her wonderful books.
ONE INCREDIBLE READ!!! Wow! Talk about walking the line. This is one action packed, fast paced, hard hitting, pulse racing, heart pounding, page turning tale that grabs your attention from the start. With all the twists and turns, along with some unpredictable surprises around every corner make for remarkable experience. You get all the drama, excitement, fear, danger and suspense that steadily increases and tension soars as the plot thickens. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it really pulls this bad boy together beautifully. Fantastic job Andrea, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
Everything in Lizzy's training as a Arete and Fire Impeder, her experiences with The Hounds of Tindalos, her encounters with ghosts, everything comes to bear on this moment. She and her friends have formed teams to face off against Lord Kenan and the remaining Hounds that are working with him. (Of course they are!) The deadlines to finish her tasks and finish off the Hounds and Lord Kenan are ticking down so fast... will it all happen in the nick of time? One of my favorite books by Andrea Pearon, you CAN NOT GO WRONG! See the cover up there? Picture it with large friendly letters saying READ ME!
Andrea Pearson has done it again, this book continues the adventures of Lizzie and is just as exciting as the rest of the series! Love the book and can't wait for the next (last) :( book of the series. Exciting action and cliff hanger at the end of this book, but keeps you wanting more! I will be happy to read the next series about Able. I highly recommend starting the series from the beginning because you will be wanting to know how it all got started. Wonderful book, can't say enough about it, so go read it, you will be glad you did!
Ms Pearson’s Koven Chronicles series is by far my favorite of this author. I especially love Lizzie’s character. In this book five of the series, Lizzie shows her ingenuity to find all the evil hounds and dispose of them by a certain deadline. She and her friends work tirelessly to make this happen. We also get to witness a little romance going on between Lizzie and Abel. A lot of action and twists here also all in preparation to meet the evil Lord Kenan and defeat his plans. I highly recommend reading this book if you enjoy action, magic, romance, and light suspense.
Forbidden Knowledge packs a punch. From the first page, you truly fly through the book. Lizzie receives a device that will help her finish the hounds off. But she must return it in ten days. Meanwhile, it is also time to finish Lord Kenan off before he regains all his powers. With deadlines looming, Lizzie begins gathering friends and allies to help her destroy Lord Kenan while also learning how to use the device on the hounds before it's too late. *I received a free eBook copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Forbidden Knowledge is the fifth book in the Koven Chronicles series. I would not recommend reading this as a standalone as the storyline builds with each book and if you haven't read the previous ones you will be confused. There is violence and use of magic. Lizzie and friends team up to not only destroy all of the hounds, but also Lord Kenan. But as usual, things don't always go as planned. This is definitely a book and series for you to read.
Wow! This book I couldn't put down with all the action, twists and turns, and everything happening in the book. Yes, there was some moments in the book that were slow. With the magic items helping her to get rid of or help the wolves and plus a plan to get rid of Lord Kenan is of the edge of my seat the whole time. Of course, the author left an opening at the end for another book. We'll, done Andrea!
This is the 5th book in this series and if you haven't started, you NEED to! Lizzie gets more magical help with another device to help her find the hounds. And she also realizes that she doesn't have to kill all the hounds to get rid of them. But it will take all the help she can get! Can Lizzie stop the hounds, get the device back to it's owner and save everyone before the deadline?
Follow along as Lizzie gets herself into more amazing and dangerous situations. She has a deadline to kill all the hounds and still has to contend with Lord Kenan. How will she get everything done? This is an exciting story that will keep you on the edge of your seat!
Really enjoyed reading this book once again just as much as the previous four. Looking forward to reading the last book in the series and highly recommend that you read them as well. You won't be sorry you did.
Amazing action. It’s impossible to stop reading once you start. Lizzie has a device to use and someone to kill at the same time. How is that possible. Couldn’t stop reading until I found out.
Lizzy's time is running out. She doesn't have much time before lorn Kenan comes to full power, at the same time there are still lots of hounds on the Earth. She finally gets help from friends, because her to-do list is running long.
I love the way story just goes on, pick up right where the last one stopped, it's perfect for binge reading. :) And there is non stop action, no rest for Lizzy. With each book in the Koven Chronicles, I like her more, she is such an amazing character. She is strong, but there is a bit of vulnerability to her.
There were some amazing fight scenes in the story, however, I was a bit disappointed by the execution. I wish there was a whole lot more showing and bit less telling.
I liked to read this book. The story describes the preparations to defeat the evil powers that threatens humanity. Please read the four previous books in the series before this one they are closely connected. I have just read the following book and that one is also very good if not even better than the other books.
This series continues again at another fast pace as Lizzie has yet more problems occurring as she continues to try and kill all the hounds. In Forbidden Knowledge she has Abel by her side, but not much time to enjoy this romance. She once again fights life threatening situations but this time she has help.... not only an ancient artefact on loan but her friends come to her aid. It was great seeing some of The Mosaic Chronicles series characters again. It all tied in seamlessly with this series. So basically all Lizzie has to do is kill all the hounds with a big ticking clock over her head, but then also face Lord Kenan and kill him ! Easy ! This series just gets better. Andrea Pearson has such a brilliant ability to transport you to a new world, making it feel natural, she makes you believe every single word she writes, if her characters cry, so do you. If they rejoice, so do you ! If they are scared witless, believe me ! So are you !. Great right ! Can you tell I’m a fan of this series..? All I can say is this series is a journey, it will keep you on the edge of your seats. It is fast paced, emotional and full of fantasy epics. You will meet new paranormal species. Go on... I dare you to enjoy it !!
