The Top 100 Questions

Rate this book
We've all had that sinking feeling when you realise that the question you have just been asked has you stumped. - your mind races to come to a satisfactory answer. Later you kick yourself for not having thought of it and prepared an answer before now. For Christians, when it comes to matters of faith, it can be all the more embarrassing. Christians need to be able to give a reason for their faith, but so often, through our own laziness we fail miserably. As a pastor to a vibrant city church in the heart of London, Richard Bewes faced tricky questions about his faith on almost a daily basis. This book is a compilation of the Top 100 Questions he has been asked by people of all ages, in all walks of life, in various states of religious belief. The answers Richard offers are not pat answers to outwit the questioner, but rather, he seeks to give clear, biblical advice to genuine questions. This book will help Christians face a sceptical, spiritually curious world.

A very useful book to have on the shelf for occasional referral to common questions and criticisms of Christianity and the Bible. My only complaints are that the answers really should be longer than a page or two, as some answers felt very rushed or incomplete and would surely be communicated better in a longer format (say 3-6 pages). Perhaps the longer format would harm the handy pocket-guide element of the book, so I can’t critique too hard on that note.

Despite my criticism, overall a very handy book with many good explanations for common questions. I will definitely be recommending this book to both believing and unbelieving friends in the future. Despite having quite the passion for theology and Christian-study, I did find many answers within the book very useful and intriguing. This book is definitely not reserved solely for novices in Christian-study!

A really helpful collection of answers to key questions which both skeptics and believers raise concerning the Bible and Christianity. He also covers some 50 difficult passages of the Bible. Rev. Bewes addresses each one with much wisdom and pastoral counsel. This is his first book I am reading and it is certain he was such a godly and learned rector. Thank God for his grace expressed through him.

A good book to bring along when commuting/ filling up the gaps between an appointment to the next. Too factual for a good read, it's like a collection of crossword puzzles which one can drop and pick up again any time. Explanation is simple but can be too general for some.

This is a solid Q-and-A resource, written by a longtime evangelical Anglican minister in the UK. Helpful and useful for teaching others or reviewing yourself.
