Some people want their two front teeth or a hippopotamus for Christmas. Not me. That would be too clichéd. Then again, I never thought I’d stoop to sitting on Santa’s lap and asking him to bring me a boyfriend, either. In my defense, though, the man of my dreams had just knocked me into a store display ten minutes prior, so I wasn’t exactly thinking straight. Hah, but when did I ever.
I never thought I’d see Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome again, but it looked like fate—or Santa—had other plans when I ran into him the following night. Seemed like I might be getting my Christmas wish after all, right? Right.
So imagine my surprise when I showed up at my parents’ house for the holidays, only to find out that my sister had asked Santa for the exact same thing I did—and he’d delivered early. Yep, my sister scored herself a handsome new boyfriend, and he’s absolutely perfect. He’s charming, my parents love him, and even Lucifer the demon cat tolerates him. Oh, did I mention he also happens to be my dream guy? The one who’s supposed to be under my tree? Yeah. Merry freakin’ Christmas to me. Someone pass the hot buttered rum.
Brooke Blaine is a USA Today Bestselling Author best known for writing romantic comedy and M/M romance. Her novels lead with humor and heart, but Brooke never shies away from throwing in something extra naughty that will scandalize her conservative Southern family for life (bless their hearts).
She’s a choc-o-holic, lives for eighties bands (which means she thinks guyliner is totally underrated), believes it’s always wine o’clock, and lives with the coolest cat on the planet—her Ragdoll/Maine Coon mix, Jackson Agador Spartacus.
I was so bored, I almost DNF. The entire setup was ridiculous, and Miles' family was way OTT. I also didn't like the whole Sean/Aiden name confusion scenario.
The story was mildly cute but lacked any kind of relationship development. The epilogue felt like an aside. I couldn't have cared less about the MCs honestly.
When I read the title of this book I was not expecting it to be such a sweet read. I loved it!
Miles is such a sweetheart, he lives with his life long best friend Holly and they both love Christmas. They decide (well Holly does) to start a Christmas tradition of their own by going to visit the Mall Santa, neither of them caring that 25 may be too old to sit on Santa's lap. After bumping into a stunning man while shopping Miles knows what he's going to ask Santa for this Christmas.
Later at a friends Christmas party Miles believes his wish is going to come true....
That thought dies quickly as Holly rushes him from the party. Miles now thinks it'll be ages before he will see his hunk Aiden again.
Miles heads home for Christmas only to get the shock of his life when introduced to his sisters new boyfriend who just happens to be 'his' hunk Aiden!! BUT not all is what it seems and it's a fun, funny and a little awkward journey to the truth. I loved Lucifer the cat, cat + Christmas = disaster.
This was a super sweet, fun, light hearted holiday read. I fell hard for Miles and Aiden and I'd love to get another book with them or any of the side characters, I know I'd like to read Ricks story!
This was a super cute and quick holiday read that I absolutely adored. Miles and Adrian had a chemistry that was evident from the first meeting and I loved getting to see how that turned into something more even with the complication of Mile's sister...you know, Adrian's girlfriend.
It may have been a fast read but it was full of intrigue and some very sexy moments between these two. Definitely a holiday read I recommend reading.
Miles and his bestie Holly are Christmas Shopping in the mall when Miles bumps into the hottest guy he's ever seen! But he's too shy to ask him for his number - but he's asking Santa to put him under the christmas tree. Which Santa kind of did ... twice. Aiden is at the same party the next day and things get pretty ... kissy under the mistletoe but Miles has to leave early - again without Aiden's number. And then Santa goes and literally puts Aiden under the tree .... But it's not really Miles' tree ... LOL!!!
♥ ADORABLE ♥
Aww that was sooo cute. Hilarious and christmasy and sweet and romantic and snowy and ugh. I loved it!
Holly is the best BFF ever (will we get her story too????) and Miles is so cute and awkward-adorable-nerdy-shy!
And Aiden. Grrrrr. Hottie Alert! But ... Well??? What's up with him???? Mysterious!!! Why is he Beth's new boyfriend????
This was the perfect little holiday story! An amazing family christmas week with a great family!
Perfect to read on a snowy afternoon with a mug of hot chocolate! (And on any other day too. You can read it by the pool in Miami if you want to!!!☺)
I had wondered how the author was gonna work this so the title wouldn't cause WWIII between said sister and brother. First skirmish happened and yet it will be the last as long as sis clues in bro. If she doesn't then I expect the house to go nuclear. Well let's just say it went nuclear or at least the other brother Ricck did! With all the insanity, sweet tender moments between Miles and Aiden, plenty of wonderful family stuff AND the REAL Santa, this book pushed ever button I have. I laughed so hard I cried and cried at the sweet tender snuggly stuff. Miles family is nuts, they are loving nuts but nuts nonetheless. I felt that the authors did justice to all the characters in this book except maybe for poor Holly who felt more like window-dressing rather than a real person. That lack is pretty much the only fault I could find in this book, and since Holly kinda was only a bookend front and back it was minimal. Jack, Susanne, Rick, Beth and Miles McAllister are the sorta crazy family that you have to love cuz their your family, they were not they'd kill each other. As for Rick he might have despite that! Reading this book at times was a insane roller-coaster ride of a slapstick film but I loved every second of it! And yes even with all the insanity the feels were there throughtout!
Fans of co-written works by Blaine and Frank will have no trouble devouring this sexy little Christmas romance, as MC Miles finds himself in a bit of situation when he heads home to spend Christmas with his family, only to find his latest crush—the gorgeous and charming man he kissed at a party the evening before—suddenly there, at his family’s home for the holidays... as his sister’s new boyfriend.
Thankfully, things aren’t what they first appear, so don't fret that this isn't 100% holiday romance fun, because it is—a holiday romance full of sexy interludes and smile-inducing family shenanigans, that are sure to make this a Christmas Miles will never forget.
This story has some very sweet and charming moments, but also some awkward and downright ridiculous moments too, which will either be construed as funny or totally OTT by readers—but I guess that all depends on the reader and their preferences for such.
As for me? I enjoyed this short and sweet tale of how Miles got himself a hot, tempting, and downright insatiable hunk of man for Christmas! In fact, I'm quite inspired to make a special Christmas wish for one myself next year! *winks*
All I can say is, if these authors work for you, then why not give this M/M Christmas novella a crack this holiday season!
Miles thinks it’s ridiculous when his best friend Holly drags him onto Santa’s lap. But Miles can’t help but wish for a boyfriend anyway. Preferably the gorgeous man he just bumped into at the mall.
When Miles sees the gorgeous man the next night at a Christmas party, he is sure that has to mean something. And when the two share a hot kiss, he is sure Santa made his wish come true.
But when he needs to leave the party in an unexpected rush, Miles is sure he will see Aiden again. He could always ask around for his number, since they obviously have some mutual friends.
But he never expected to see Aidan at his parent’s house where his sister is introducing him as her boyfriend!
I enjoyed this, but I can’t say I’ll remember much about it in a few days. I had a hard time connecting with anyone in the story and I think that’s why it was just okay.
And the scene with the family playing ‘aggressive tag’ was a bit ridiculous. I was alternating between being entertained and horrified that Rick would act like that. I mean, who would think beating someone up is ‘the right thing to do’? Especially because he wouldn’t listen en just kept going.
It was cute, but it was missing that something extra what I want in my books.
Before I start reviewing let me talk about this line from the book...
" He was dressed in business attire, a navy suit tailored to his tall, muscular frame, and heaven help me, that was my kryptonite." I wish life was fair for me to meet one of Miles's kryptonite!!
Now to the review! I was looking for a short light read to take a break from my taboo reading rampage and I came upon this! I was reading a Christmas story in the Middle of MAY! Yay!
I enjoyed this story way more than expected! For the first time in reading MM novellas I found a funny, sweet female best friend for the MC!! I haven't read a lot of MM Romance but the ones I have there are no females close to the MC, if they are then they end up being a$$holes! I loved Holly!! Even if she didn't appear that much in the book, but the sister was also lovable!
One of my fav characters...the MOM (Suzanne)...
"“All right, who do I need to knock out?” Mom said, flying out of the house with a frying pan held high." I mean do I need to explain?... Not exactly her, but imagine a woman in a frilly apron, walking out in the snow with a frying pan...close right?
Overall, funny, cute, light read about Christmas when you need a break from drama reads. It also made me realize life isn't waking up on Christmas morning to find the man of your dreams under the tree, or the fact that I am not LUCKY as Miles, or that I am getting mad at myself because my life is not fictional....ANYWAYS happy reading!!
A fun sweet holiday read. Don't let the title bother you too much, it is not what you think. I really liked this one. It was fluffy and that is exactly what I enjoy reading this time of year 😁
A light, fun holiday romance that's very well-written and a pleasure to read. I haven't read Ella/Brooke (together) before but will definitely seek more out.
When ever these two Authors combine their wonderful talents together. We the readers are given the opportunity to read an exceptional work of love and happiness! I completely enjoyed this Novella and will be adding it to my list of re-reads. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wanted a really good enjoyable read. I wish I could give it more stars. I hope these Ladies will continue their outstanding collaboration, as demonstrated in this outstanding example of their combined efforts to present us with another loving story. I guess you can tell that I really enjoyed this book!!
Honestly, I think the family in this one sealed the deal on that rating. They were ridiculously adorable and so relatable; I wanted to both smack Rick and hug him (you go chasing that Cougar, boy). Holly was adorbz - she and Miles are definitely #FriendshipGoals. I loved that Miles' sister didn't want to conform to the role her parents (mostly mom) were urging her into, that she was focused on her career and didn't want a family. That's a perfectly valid life choice and more people need to respect it.
Also so glad this wasn't an Inst-Love situation. That Miles and Aiden admitted to growing feelings but that we got an Epilogue for the declarations. Also glad the miscommunication didn't go on for very long; having no idea about Aiden/Sean would have been tedious and mean to Miles.
I think the twist on the trope was really interesting, but execution wasn't great. Writing was meh and it took too long to get to the ~reveal~ of the twist which made both characters look like jerks.
This was a short and sweet Christmassy novella about two guys randomly meeting each other and falling in love ... in a more unconventional circumstance.
Yeah, Santa is real in this one.
Santa does make wishes come true and when Miles, a 25 year old nerdy gay man bumps into Aiden, a tall, elegant, hot guy at the mall, he's enamoured and goes on Santa's lap to ask him to send a boyfriend like Aiden as his present under the Christmas tree.
Miles and Aiden meet once again, sparks fly, but they don't get the chance to exchange numbers, so as fate would have it, the next time they meet is at Miles' home with Aiden being Miles sister's pretend boyfriend.
The chemistry was there, the desire was there, but until they could really get together, his sister's secret had to come out.
It was sweet, funny and a little bit passionate, the story ended at that Christmas and picked up a year later when Miles and Aiden were already a serious couple about to move in together.
A light read, medium spice without much sex, more flirting and kissing and a lot of promise. The chemistry was good, but not intense. Mike and Aiden had a good love connection that could've been more spicy with more banter and tension that would've made it more interesting.
And I also didn't like the idea of Aiden spending Christmas Eve on his own in a hotel. 👎
I suspended disbelief before I started this one. And it's a good thing too, because Sean/Austin did not behave professionally at all. And I mean AT ALL. However, that being said, I found it to be a lighthearted holiday story that allowed me to escape for the day into a world where large loving families exist.
I definitely recommend this as a holiday read. Just don't take it too seriously.
