I've honestly been looking forward to reading this book for quite some time because of the teasers and snippets I read. But I hate that I'm disappointed over it. I feel like I've been let down and that I'm letting down the author by not loving it the way I hoped too. I found myself having difficulty trying to connect with the characters and the story. It hurts me to say this but it felt forced. Even when the characters were opening up to each other and it was an emotional scene, I couldn't get into it. The only reason I DNF was because I was interested in the storyline and I love this author and was hoping it would get better. I was surprised when it was finished. There wasn't really a conflict or a situation in the story that really changed the story. There was a buildup that was heading nowhere.
I still did love the story in a way because I loved what each character stood for. I loved their personalities but the writing stunted the emotional side of it for me. It's a good love story for anyone looking for a quick New Adult romance with little drama but otherwise, it wasn't that great for me, sorry.

I almost did not finish this one. For several reasons, but mainly because Addison annoyed me way too much. She didn't know what on earth she wanted, she thought one thing but did another, she was plain and shallow. And honestly, kind of stupid. She also isn't a "bookworm", even though the blurb suggests so. I honestly don't think she picks up a book at all.
Parker was slightly less annoying. I'm sorry, but guys simply don't behave like he does in this book.
The writing and the story couldn't been any less creative. The first time I thought about DFN, it was because I had read about 15% of it, and Addison bumped with 3 or 4 guys. Seriously, maybe once is ok. But three times? The author couldn't figure out a better way to start a conversation?
By the time I had read about 50%, I just decided to simply finish it so I could complain in this review and give the book this rating.
I don't think I will read another book by this author (and if I do, it will probably be by accident).
At least, it was free on amazon, so I didn't pay for it.

Monday Nights will never be the same.....
This was a fun relatively angst free college romance....the story focuses on Addison and Parker; initially they both seemed to be rather shallow and I did not immediately warm to them...Addison was just a little too feisty and prickly, Parker was too inconsistent in his dealings with her, and both of them blew hot and cold too frequently...... however, slowly but surely their relationship developed and I began to appreciate Addison's strength and Parker’s yumminess and protectiveness...
There are numerous secondary characters from loyal best friends to abusive boyfriends and hateful sisters...and altogether they provided both humour and drama to the proceedings..... I particularly enjoyed the interactions between Addison and her group of close friends.. and a special mention also for Devon, Addison’s younger brother, who demonstrated so much courage....In some ways I felt there were almost too many members in the supporting cast.. at times I forgot which character was which...and more importantly I wanted to know more about each and every one of them and there simply wasn’t enough opportunity in one book to do them all justice..
This story deals with a number of challenging issues bullying, cheating and abuse; but whilst the subject matter is serious it is delivered with a light touch and therefore prevents the storyline descending into darkness... In the interests of honesty I did feel that the title of the book suggested that Monday Nights would be the main focus of the story and that was not the case... and as I mentioned previously I did not immediately fall in love with Addison and Parker...
That being said as the plot progressed I became more and more invested in his and her story and by the end was standing on the sidelines in my cheerleaders skirt, not a pretty sight I can assure you, willing them to find their HEA together... I received an advanced copy from the author

This was a good book, but a quick read. It's young adult or new adult, I'm not sure of the distinction yet, but it made me feel old! I thought the characters acted a little too young and immature but I would forget that they were in college. I thought the characters were great, but a few of the secondary characters caught my attention a little bit more than the main characters did.
Addison is a college student with an abusive boyfriend. She made a mistake months back that he still keeps bringing up and making her feel guilty for. Thank God she gets rid of him! When the truth about the abusive boyfriend comes out, Parker is there to "save" her. Parker is the "mistake" that Addison made. Not really, it was just a kiss. He has been crushing on her since then. He starts showing up at Addison's job every Monday night and her roommate named him her "Monday Night Guy". Parker and Addison don't get together right away but their journey is half of the fun. While they are young and in college, their relationship seems to feel older than their age, if that makes sense.
Elsie, Addison's roommate and Paislee, Parker's sister stole the show to me. They are both stubborn, sassy, and say whatever they want. I enjoyed that, I didn't feel like Addison was as free. I can't wait to read about those two girls. Their books are sure to be showstoppers! I also really liked Addison's brother Devon. Addison and Devon have a great relationship. She is sweet to him and treats him better than their parents definitely do. I also like how Parker and his friends take up for him and become his friends too.

Liz Lovelock penned a charming tale full of great friendship, family drama, humor, love and romance. It also touched on some deeper issues too such as infidelity, bullying and physical abuse. I thought the characters were very well written and the story moved along with a nice pace to it. I was pleasantly surprised with just how much I enjoyed it. If you like a book that is a quick, cute and light-hearted read, then this one is definitely worth checking out.

This is one book that I had been looking forward to reading as I was a big fan of both Liz's previous series of Lost and Letters in Blood. I have to admit I was hoping for a bit more of a punch with this book and came out slightly disappointed. Overall, if you are looking for a good NA College romance than Monday Night Guy is the read for you but if you are wanting a bit more action than this isn't for you. I felt in parts that the author could have gone deeper as the book starts with our main character Addie and her boyfriend Hayden who we can tell is a jerk. I felt this could have gone deeper in parts of maybe him hitting her as we had seen in her other series. Parker sits on the sidelines waiting for the day when Addie and Hayden finally break up so he can go for her. He has always loved her but never had the chance to tell her and now he does, the thing is Addie won't be swayed that easy when it comes to Parker and he is going to have to try a bit harder than he has in the past when it comes to chasing girls. We also see Addie's ex Hayden slinking around with Addie's sister Ella, who seems to hate her with a passion. I would have liked to have gotten a bit more depth on why Ella hated Addie so much. I loved Addie's brother with Autism and I think its more so as I've been there with myself having autistic siblings and a mother with it. These parts made me enjoy the book and want to continue. So readers, on the lookout for a nice easy NA college read- then check out Monday Night Guy but wanting something deeper, then move directly past as you will only end up disappointing yourself.

Addison and Parker met at a party. Addy already being in a relationship, during a drunken moment, her and Parker kiss. This was a kiss to question everything. But, she feels guilty about the kiss and immediately tells her boyfriend. Well, she's been paying for it ever since. Addison changes, her personality becomes, sorta reclusive, scared, becomes a "little mouse" her relationship is toxic. She becomes meek in character and doesn't show her true self. This story was fast paced college romance. This touches family issues, bullying, discovering love and friendship. I liked this story, it was really cute and sweet to see how Parker was. Looking forward to the next book. I'm curious to see if Paislee will get her book. She was quite the character.

Monday Night Guy is a good read. For me this was a quick read. I was hooked and able to read it in one sitting. Addison is in a bad relationship with Hayden. At first I felt bad for her and thought she was going to be a weak character but when she found her voice and started to show her true self I really liked her. Parker is a great guy. He and Addison have a connection but Addison is just out of a bad relationship and doesn't want to get into another one. Parker is a basketball player and comes off as a player and a jerk but he's really not. I liked the pace of this story, it was perfect. This one was my first read by Liz Lovelock and it won't be my last. I will definitely be one clicking My Aussie Guy when it comes out.

Anyone who knows me knows I love a fast paced college romance. It's nice when I find one where the Hero isn't a A hole player. While Addison thinks Parker is those things he really isn't and Addison hold her own she isn't a weak character like lots of females in these books. This is a great start to q stand alone series and it's very rare I want to go on and read the next but I'm excite to read My Aussie Guy. The only thing I wished we saw was that one game of basketball but you will have to read it to find out which one. If you love college romance I highly recommend this book. You will swoon over Parker Kent.

I absolutely loved this cute, loving, warm, light-hearted book!!!! Liz Lovelock hit the spot with this one!!!!! AHHHHMAZING job!!!!! Idk about you, but I picture Tyler Hoechlin in my mind for Parker!!!!! You’re a phenomenal author, Liz!!!!!! I appreciate you allowing me to read this ARC, I am humbled!!!! I will read any more you send me!!!!! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!!!!!!

I had the opportunity of receiving an ARC copy of Monday Night Guy by Liz Lovelock in hopes of leaving an honest review after completion.
Monday Night Guy by Liz Lovelock was the first book that I have read by the author. Monday Night Guy is certainly fast-paced, but in no way does it hinder the story. It actually works in my opinion. I liked the writing and carefully done characterization. However, I wanted more back history between our two main characters, Parker and Addison, just to deepen their attraction a little more.
Parker and Addison share a forbidden kiss that basically shapes the whole story. The ramifications of their shared kiss is done perfectly. I liked the back and forth dynamic that Ms. Lovelock created between our characters. The constant tension that surrounds Parker and Addison is intense and hot, but neither of them can stay away from the other. They are always running into one another, encroaching on one another's space, particularly Parker. Parker certainly likes to get under Addison's skin.
Addison however, is in deep denial of why she claims to hate Parker so much. Most of the story involves Addison trying to comprehend actually what she feels for Parker. Parker don't have the same issue. He already knows what he feels for Addison. Parker has always wanted Addison, always wanted Addison to be his.
I have to say my favorite parts of the story aside from Addison and Parker's ongoing bickering, were their one-on-one alone time getting to know one another, truly without outside forces getting in the way. They were able to see just how far their feelings went for the other. It was sweet and very loving, and also a little hot, but not too hot.
I'm so happy that Addison and her sister, Ella got to re-establish their sisterly bond. I loved how Addison cared for her brother, Devon. I enjoyed the moments between Addison and her group of friends. Parker was great with Devon along with his other guy friends. I love, love Parker's mom and sister. They were amazing. However, I absolutely hated Addison's ex-boyfriend, Hayden. What a horrible person.

College Romance – A good quick read.
Everyone makes mistakes in life – it’s a given. Sometimes the impact of the mistake is worse than the mistake itself, and in Addison’s case, it certainly was. It was a gateway to the abusive relationship suffered by Addison at the hands of her seemingly perfect boyfriend, Hayden, and is something that we as mothers fear for our daughters. She made a mistake and he took it as a reason to be abusive.
She was also the target of bullying, for quite some time by Parker Kent, his girlfriend and friends. It was this aspect that took me some time to warm up to him, despite his eventual intervention between Addison and the abusive boyfriend, which in itself is a big thing for anyone, let alone this age group.
Issues covered in this book range from intimidation, bullying and cheating, were all done in a well written way, and I hit this book in one sitting. For those who enjoy the College and New Adult genre, I think you would really enjoy this book. My rating only reflects the fact that this isn’t my favourite genre. I did, however, race to read this book because Liz Lovelock is truly a talented multi-genre author and I have absolutely enjoyed her past books. 4 Stars.

This is my first book by this author. This book did not overwhelm me. It was a run of the mill college romance. I enjoyed it, it was entertaining, but I didn't feel gripped by the story or the characters. There was some lull here and there, where I just skimmed, there was conflict that was just brushed aside when the author could have used that and made the book a little more meatier. The premise was there, it had me hooked, I just wish there was a little more to it. Told entirely in Addison's POV.

So I really enjoyed this book. It was kinda fast paced. But once you get to reading you really get into the story and want to find out all the different issues going on. This book really shows you not to judge a book by it’s cover, or a person by how they seem. That maybe you should get to know someone before you judge. And to not make fun of people or just be mean in general. But it’s also a fun college romance with a sexy basketball player. I can’t wait to read the next book!! And I love all the nicknames, it’s great!!!!

This is the 1st in a new series and is Parker and Addison’s story. Parker is the basketball captain, and Addison is a studious bookaholic. Parker is determined to break through the walls which are around her heart. Will he succeed? This is a good story which is a sweet college romance, and filled with drama, angst, witty banter, and is a fun read. The only downside in my opinion only, is that I struggled to engage with the characters to start with. However, I look forward to reading more from this author.

It's quirky, fun & a little quick read that I really enjoyed
Addison & Parker aren't what I expected but I loved these 2 characters & watching how things progressed with them

This was a fun read. There is some hinting at possible physical and emotional abuse, but the author doesn't delve into it too deeply. The hints are relatively subtle, Otherwise it's relatively free of any major sticking points.
I enjoyed it and it held my interest enough to make it a quick read for me. It's definitely a college age read so if you go into it expecting older adults this isn't what you're looking for. I liked it though.

Who doesn't love the college sport star falling for the quiet unassuming girl? Addison needs to get out of her abusive relationship with Hayden and Parker needs more than just his Barbie groupies when they find each other. Their story has a few ups and downs. I adored their slow burn journey to love. Definitely worth your time to read! Just enough substance to pull you in and enough sweetness that leaves your heart happy.

It was OK. I didn't hate it, but it was so... flat, for lack of a better term. And formulaic, like the author was checking boxes. Rather underwhelming.
The plot. So much packed in, but at the same time, there's so much undeveloped. It was like the author was going down a checklist of "How to Write A College Sports Romance." Abusive ex? Check. Mean Girl ex? Check. Bad boy player with heart of gold, totally smitten over heroine? Check. Family drama? Check and double check. But nothing really got developed. The whole classroom set-up, which seems to be the direction the author's going to bring her "enemies" together? Never mentioned again. They are in a class together, the teacher hates her, they're picked as partners... and then nothing comes of it. Never even mentions going to class again (though she does mention skipping class to visit Ella). And Jase's jealousy? Completely unnecessary plot point. Why wasn't he just her friend? As it was, it made her even more into the "oh I'm so average, but all the super popular boys on campus want me" type of character that I hate. Even the Monday Night thing! It's the freakin' title, for crying out loud, but she only just takes over the Monday night shift at the beginning of the story, and there are only about 2 scenes in the cafe before they hook up - his Monday night routine literally has no point in the plot! Overall, the result was choppy and formulaic.
Usually one narrator, first person stories aren't a big deal for me, but this one did get to me. Maybe because I never felt connected to Addison, maybe because she felt very empty as a character, but I really wanted to hear another POV and get out of Addison's head. Would have loved to hear why Parker (and all these other guys) were so head over heels for her. It didn't help that she took the "klutzy awkward cute" stereotype to irritating levels. Seriously, in the first 1/4 of the book, she's run into someone 4 times, all to further the plot too! Using that plot device once, maybe twice, in a book is fine but 4 times in the first quarter?? Then there's the teaser description - "Bookworm Addison James has vowed to crush it in her second year in college." Except she's never depicted as a bookworm, other than physically carrying books and/or her bookbag, and (as mentioned) the whole going-to-class thing fell by the wayside. Instead, we see her getting blackout drunk and hopping from one high drama mess to the next. I know, I know - don't judge a book by it's blurb. But this one here seriously misrepresented both the plot and the main character.
All from Addison's 1st person POV. OW and OM drama with both exes and her sister's Mean Girl antics. While not cheating (Addison and Parker weren't together yet) he's bringing other girls to flirt with at the cafe while she's working, all because he loves her and wants her attention. Besides being a bit twisted, it comes preeeeeetty close to my tolerance level for cheating. Fairly clean - the characters have sex, but nothing explicit, mostly "behind closed doors." Rather choppy plot, undeveloped plot threads, and little character development. Fast and rather mindless NA romance. No cliffhangers. HEA, but no epilogue (so slightly less satisfying).
Would I read more from this author/series? Quite honestly, probably not.
The plot. So much packed in, but at the same time, there's so much undeveloped. It was like the author was going down a checklist of "How to Write A College Sports Romance." Abusive ex? Check. Mean Girl ex? Check. Bad boy player with heart of gold, totally smitten over heroine? Check. Family drama? Check and double check. But nothing really got developed. The whole classroom set-up, which seems to be the direction the author's going to bring her "enemies" together? Never mentioned again. They are in a class together, the teacher hates her, they're picked as partners... and then nothing comes of it. If you’re looking for a easy, light hearted and cute read, this is it. Monday Night Guy is a college romance and deals with things such a drinking, bullying, physical abuse but also friendship, unspoken loves, lost relationships and romance. Very good read.

Addison and Parker are both at college, both had scumbag partners, but both are total opposites. Addison and her 'girls' Elsie, Willow and Jane all share a dorm room and have each other's backs. Parker, Jimmy and Dane are the same but live in a 'basketball' house due to being star players on the college team. This is 'the getting to know them better' story, mainly Addy and Parker.
I have to say right from the beginning that this age group in a story is not my usual preference however I did enjoy reading this one. It is a sweet romance but does deal with some deeper issues in a lighter way. The enemies to possible lovers troupe works well and I'm already intrigued by book two with the Australian student.
Addison goes through a growth period, one where she builds self-confidence and her inner strength is very appealing. Having the rug pulled out from under her feet certainly helps to build her determination and courage once she sets her mind to do that. I found the characters likeable, well except for the 'nasty' ones and I really wanted to sock to those guys-a good indicator to get that invested in the story, well it is from my perspective.

I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
Parker Kent is deliciously good looking. The captain of the basketball team. But, he is a complete and utter jerk. I made a vow to steer clear of guys like Parker. But, when he shows up every Monday night at my workplace, that vow is torn to shreds. As much as I'd like to I can't ignore a customer. At some point, a friendship forms. It's not what I expected; he's not what I expected. Those walls I put up are being torn down piece by piece, allowing Parker into my heart. Am I setting myself up for disaster, is is my Monday-night guy just the antidote my wounded heart needs?
Monday Night Guy is a college romance and is super fun to read. I have read only some dark book by Liz Lovelock so this was a different from her read for me and I loved it. Addy is a college student and has been dating Hayden for a while. However one drunken night at a party she kisses Parker and then tells Hayden. This ultimately changes their relationship and Hayden becomes a controlling jerk. On that I would say that Addison was actually afraid of but would never admit that to anyone. Parker though is a jerk and has his own girlfriend Stacey. He too has no problem making fun of Addison and embarrassing her in front of everyone. But, that all changes when both Addy and Parker discover a huge surprise one night. I am not going to tell you what this is and ruin the book but trust me you will want to read and find out. I loved both Addy and Parker. She is tired of the guys who are cocky players and she wants no part of them any longer and Parker fits right in that category. That doesn't stop him though from showing up at her work every Monday night and worming his way into Addy's world. These two have some serious chemistry and will have you swooning and rooting for them. But, your going to love to hate Hayden and Stacey. I swear if I could have I would have jumped into this book and slapped that girl. Ugh you know the kind. Or you will see when you read this book. I love how Addy too loved and cared for her special needs brother Devon. They will melt your heart and I fell so in love with him. Overall this book is just great and you don't want to miss it. I hadn't read a college romance in a while so I was happy to spend time with all these amazing character's and can not wait for the next book in this series.

I've never read this author before and I loved the sound of the blurb, but the story was just OK for me in the end.
"I liked Parker at one stage, but because I rejected him and stayed with my boyfriend, he plays these stupid games."
Addison is stuck in a relationship made toxic by a mistake she made a year earlier. Her life is further made miserable by the antics of Parker Kent, captain of the basketball team and jerk extraordinaire. When her relationship blows up, Parker is suddenly everywhere.
"Don't shut me out, little mouse."
Parker seems to enjoy tormenting and flustering her. However, when he starts showing concern and care for her, it messes with her mind and her heart. She's already been burnt by one guy and she's not ready to put herself out there, again, even though the chemistry between them is hot.
Overall, this story was an easy read. There were certain aspects of this story that didn't gel with me, but unless I get completely picky and add spoilers, I can't fully explain.
Addison is a pretty snarky, strong character, which makes me wonder why she put up with her boyfriend's behaviour, or stayed with him for as long as she did. I also had questions about her relationship and interactions with other characters in this story.
Parker seems quite a straightforward character. He obviously liked her and I loved that he stood up for her when she needed help. However, before things changed between them, why would he let his friends make her life miserable?
There were aspects of the story that I enjoyed and pulled at my heartstrings but, overall, I felt it was clunky in places, and it felt more like high school rather than college. I just needed a smoother, more convincing story that had me feeling more invested in the characters.

This is a new to me Author, and I can say I wasn’t disappointed.
Monday Night Guy by Liz Lovelock is a college romance that follows the relationship between Parker and Addison.
This story deals with a few challenging issues abuse, bullying and cheating; although these matters are serious the author has written this into the book with a light touch that prevents the book from becoming to dark.
My first initial impression of Addison was that she seemed to have a split personality; one minute she is too afraid to stand up for herself and let’s Hayden her ex walk all over her, then the next she is fiesty, rude and dismissive of Parker. All while wanting Parker 🤯 But by the time their relationship starts to blossom my initial impression changes and I love the strength that Addy has. I thought Parker was too much of a Playboy to start off with. Flirting with Addy then dismissing her and being with Barbie. But after the incident with Devon Addy’s brother my opinion of him was sealed and I LOVED him. He is so sweet with his mum, sister Paislee and Devon OMG!! My poor heart...
This book also had so many great secondary characters that need mentioning as they helped make this story what it is. Addy’s girlfriends Elsie, Willow and Jane the bestfriends any girl could as for. Devon sweet, sweet little Devon I wish I had a brother as sweet and nurturing as him xx. Parker’s mates Jimmy and Dane they way they just clicked with Devon and also the admiration they had for Addy after punching something 😉 someone.
I look forward to read the next book My Aussie Guy in this series and other work that has been written by this author.

I was looking for a good enemy to lovers romance and I found it I Monday Night Guy. Was I blown away by the book? No, I wasn’t but I did enjoy it and felt that it showed a side to some relationships that isn’t made known. Not all abuse is physical, it can be emotional and mental and that is something our heroine is dealing with.
Addy is not a fan of Parker, at all. In fact, she thinks he is a huge jerk and makes it known she doesn’t like him. They shared a moment a year before and unfortunately her boyfriend has made her life a living hell ever since. Don’t think that Addy is weak, physically she isn’t, in fact she can handle herself, but sometimes emotional hits can do more damage than any physical ones could. Trust me, I know from personal experience. When she takes her power back I was proud of her. Now did I like her throughout the entire book? Yes and no, I think her character just needed something more to her.
Parker may come across as a jerk but is he really? I liked his character even when I wanted to beat him for some of the things he pulls with Addy. He will surprise you I think, I know he did me. When he is with Addy you see the side of him that makes you like him.
Now while I liked the book I do think somethings were brushed to the side way too easily and should have been expanded more or even just taken out completely. I felt the chemistry between Addy and Parker, but I felt that at times it wasn’t enough, like I wanted more heat and more passion. Those things aside I did overall like it and plan on continuing to read this series.

Monday Night Guy, the first installment in Liz Lovelock's My Guy Series was a great, quick, little read! Lovelock reeled me in pretty quickly when she placed the temptation of crush worthy basketball star Parker Kent on my radar. Although Parker was a bit misunderstood at first, his priceless defense of Addison had me begging for more.
I love angst in a novel and at the beginning Lovelock really brought on the angst between Parker and Addison. Her buildup of heat between these two had me turning pages as fast as I could completely swept away by the possibility of a romance. This is what I love about romance novels! However, Lovelock shifted gears rather quickly and kind of lost track of where she was going mid way through the book. I wish she would have kept them in the buildup stage of their romance longer. Playfully fighting against one another to commit, instead of rushing them together.
While Parker and Addison were pretty spot on there were a few plot lines left wide open. Addison's relationship with her sister Ella was full force and when Lovelock dropped what could have been a serious bomb on their relationship, she ended up just sweeping it under the rug. Also, Dane. He is a mystery, however, there was a reason to his behavior towards Parker and Addison's relationship that Lovelock didn't quite explain. Had she just took these and a few other points a bit further this would have went from a great book to something incredible.
It's obvious Lovelock has talent. As her craft continues to develop, I'm sure she will release some amazing books well worth your one click!
