In to Her

Rate this book
How she came to us doesn't matter.
Why she's here. Doesn't matter.

Yvette Nightingale has something we need. We were not meant to be soul mates. We were not meant to be lovers, or friends, or partners looking for answers.

We were just going to use her up, throw her away, and leave her behind.

But we made a mistake. We fell for her. We fell for the way our bodies move as one and the way we come together at night. We fell for her smile, and her eyes, and the soft moans spilling past her lips when we take her together.

We're in to her.
But will she be in to us once she learns the truth?

A thrilling, sexy trip into the mysterious world of ménage.

J.A. Huss never wanted to be a writer and she still dreams of that elusive career as an astronaut. She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.

After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.

So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for a Voice Arts Award and an Audie award in 2016 and 2017 respectively, her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017, and her book, Taking Turns, was nominated for an Audie Award in 2018. Johnathan McClain is her first (and only) writing partner and even though they are worlds apart in just about every way imaginable, it works.

She lives on a ranch in Central Colorado with her family.

Surprisingly enjoyable!

I wasn’t liking this book so much in the beginning but I liked the dynamic between the three characters so I kept reading and was pleasantly surprised. It starts out like this: Two men walk into a bar... Actually AJ and Logan are Hitmen working for a Mafia type guy named Damon. They have been watching Yvette for a few weeks to she if she has something she stole from Damon when she ran away. She was married to him and is hiding out in the mountains, working at a bar.

At this point Damon has figured she doesn’t have what he is looking for and has told the guys to kill her. The reason I really wasn’t liking the book at first was that it is an erotic romance with a lot of hot sex between these three and I get that they can get all ménage and steamy without being in love, but I thought the back story of how awful Damon was to her was a bit too much.

Why not just make him an abusive and possessive ex.? Instead He used to let his relatives and bodyguards rape her violently. It seems to me that she wouldn’t be so quick to start up a threesome if she had a past like that. Also it seemed to me like they were snowed in for like 3 or 4 days, but later they said it was only one day. I was surprised at that.

“I need a shower,” he says, sitting all the way up and swinging his legs over the side of the bed. And then he walks off towards the en suite bathroom, teal-green butt vibrator sticking out of his ass.
“For fuck’s sake!” I yell. “I can’t unsee that, you dick.”

Anyway, despite my above issues, I continued to read because the story interested me and I needed to find out if Logan would kill her or not. I am not going to give away spoilers but there are other plot twists and secrets I needed to know about. I was not disappointed. The ending was quite the tear jerker for a ménage book. Though maybe I cry more easily than the average reader. In the end the book was redeemed. It was quite a steamy romance and the story was a solid four stars!

3.5 twists-and-on-the-fence stars

Oh. Lordt. This book… this book makes normal fast burns look like child’s play. Jeeeezus… this was… um… this was very 🔥💦🥵. It’s like someone told JA Huss she doesn’t have enough spice in her books and she was like 😈 hold my toy remote (IYKYK) 💁🏻‍♀️.

Yvette runs a bar and is thinking of closing down when two men come in. It’s snowing like crazy outside and these two don’t take the hint to leave. Doesn’t help that they end up being stuck together because of it. Of course, they’re handsome men, but what’s on the outside is nothing compared to all that’s hidden on the inside. They begin flirting with Yvette and soon, these two men become very handsy with her.

That’s when she learns their names: Logan and AJ.

They’re having a great time when, all of a sudden, things take a turn… a very SMEEEXY turn. The way these three turn to 🔥 made my blush blush…

Because… hooooleey f… 🥵

And, welp… all I could do was watch 👀lol

And then… we learn some truths

SPOILERS COMING
You see. Logan and AJ aren’t just some random men. 😬 they’ve been watching Yvette for weeks now.

And they were hired to get rid of her… 😅. Yeah. You read that right 😅.

What I liked/loved:
—🔥🔥🔥I would like to announce that not only did my kindle get pregnant, but she’s becoming a grandmother already…
JEEEZUS CHRIST 🥵🔥💦 this book has enough 💦 to impregnate tons of kindles. I wouldn’t be surprised if suddenly my kindle has siblings coming out of the wood work after this 😅.
THIS. BOOK. IS. HOT AS. F.
When one scene ends, another one soon begins… and, more importantly…
THERE’S NO 👏🏻FTB👏🏻.
We get every dirty, juicy, p@nty-melting detail 👀
DVP, DP, toys on all parties, I mean… the works.
Anything you can think of could happen with 3 people, well, it does

—how round and dynamic these characters are. Listen. It all seems like fun and games because of all the 🔥, but no. This is JA Huss here. There’s angst. There’s turmoil. There’s heartache and heartbreak. And these characters grow and evolve as the book progresses. Each was a piece of the puzzle and they fit the best together

—the twists and turns. I was GASPING and bugging my eyes out MANY times (😱actual footage of me). I found myself side eyeing things and analyzing a simple walk to the restroom. Like. What’s going to happen? I kept second guessing things, which means I was kept on my toes 😅

—how angsty it got. Yeah. I got emotional. The things Yvette has gone through… no one should ever experience what she did

—Logan’s sacrifice 🥹❤️😩

What I didn’t like/wanted more of: SPOILERS
—the safety talk. Look. I get it. Many read to escape and don’t want to equate books to what should be happening IRL…
but I’m not of those people. In fact, I’d like to know that my poor heroine isn’t getting involved with some dirty D 😑😐 (or dirty V… these people have been around 😬)

—live revenge please. Yvette’s ex Damon completely messed up her life, let’s see the way Logan gets back at him please

—the ambiguous ending. After being separated so long, I have some questions… like…
Is your d dirty? How many were you with?
Okay. So I really only have those two 🤣🤣🤣 but it felt like a lot of them since Logan was gone so long.

Overall, I really enjoyed it

It was a bit of a shock to the system when I started to read this. I didn't bother reading the book description, just jumped right in expecting a fun and light read. That title and that book cover screamed fun to me. Boy was I was way off!

Holy crap does JA Huss really know how to write some really messed up characters. I think it might be scary to be in her brain. I'm not going to complain though because I do enjoy how she has me guessing all the way to the end. Even the very last paragraph had more than one outcome. That's what draws me to this particular author.

Due to the constant guessing this story provides, I am not going to explain the storyline. The best experience is not knowing what you are getting into. I will just give you a few warnings to see if this might be for you.

The characters are far from innocent and your opinion of them changes with each chapter. I would put this at a medium dark storyline that deals with past sexual abuse. For me, that was the darkest part to the book.

I came into this looking for straight smut and good thing because it’s practically on page one. And not just your average, run of the mill steam, no DP in the V. Like who needs to dip your toe in when you can just jump in the deep end?

But then the story progressed and you discovered that while yes it was heavily laced with kink it was also a thriller that kept you on the edge of your seat.

I felt so fucking bad for Yvette, she went through hell and here these assholes come to kill her. Can you say irate?!

Fortunately these paid killers allowed their conscience to meander to the forefront. Realizing that this girl doesn’t deserve to die. Ya think?!

Anywho, I don’t want to give too much away so I’ll leave it at that. I will say I wanted more revenge, all the other intrigue was good, but I was chomping at the bit for some no holds barred retribution.

When I first started reading and it got to some serious sex so fast and seemed to focus the most on that I wasn't sure whether I was going to like it. Don't get me wrong, I love a good menage but I also like a good plot and character driven action. In To Her turned around and completely surprised me. It was full of emotion, depth, heartbreak, grief and twists from one chapter to the next of what the intent was going to be of each of the three characters. I did kind of figure out how it would end about half way through but even so, I really enjoyed getting to know these characters as they revealed themselves to each other. The sex didn't feel so gratuitous because it was a dynamic of how these three people could merge and the relationship and history these two guys had with one another going way back.

Gotta say, my main man though was definitely A.J. Logan took a lot more for me to warm up to and Yvette? Well damn, as her past is revealed, she has really gone through the ringer with the most unspeakable of abuse and tragedies. Because I can be a sap, I kind of wanted it to end one way but I'm cool with it going the way it did.

This is one book where I think it's best to read the book blurb and go in blind. It's really is the way to enjoy it and I'm glad I didn't read any of the reviews and pick up anything I shouldn't have.

4 stars for hot sex, great chemistry, a good guessing game and being left to wonder which way things would go almost to the end.

This started well and I was intrigued. Unfortunately the vast majority of it turned out to be just one sex scene after another. Now don’t get me wrong I like a good sex scene as much as anyone. But I also like balance. I started skimming trying to find the story. The constant sex was driving me crazy. And this is when I made a mistake.

The mistake was checking the reviews on Goodreads. I wanted to know if it was worth continuing. Was there a story in there somewhere?

Unfortunately one review gave everything away. Not a spoiler tag in sight just revealed everything. I continued reading/skimming but the book was well and truly ruined for me.

I will say the ending was too abrupt and the book finished far too soon. I felt cheated both by the book and the review.

We’re born. We live. We die. That’s it. What we do with the live part is up to us.

This book was way deeper than I was expecting. It’s hot. It’s smutty. Its a ménage-ish. It’s a little dark, but it’s also emotional and makes you think some. A smidge of suspense, but I had a gut feeling what was going on, because the author kind of leads you that way. Plus the ending. So good. So perfect for this story and how these people came together.

Bam! Then that happened. I am a fan of J.A. Huss, but books like these make me a groupie.

The latest release In to Her, opens with a disclaimer, this book is going to pull out all the stops. There is going to be a juicy, suspense filled story with an intense sexual chemistry that will knock your socks off. What I have truly loved about Julie's work is her evolution. She is a magical story teller. You find yourself lost in the details, becoming the characters, taking on their pain and their pleasure. This book is not a love a triangle. There are three individuals in this sumptuous menage, but the love, lust and want occurs amongst them all individually and collectively. It simply too over the top to describe.

Read this book!

HOLY CRAP.
This book was a fucking surprise that came out of nowhere. JA Huss is a master storyteller and her words just pull you in and make you never want to leave. This book had so many twists and turns, it gave me whiplash. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen next, I realised that actually I had no idea at all.
The best advice I can give you is, go in blind. DO NOT read any spoiler reviews because it will completely ruin the whole experience.
IN TO HER is definitely going to be on my “Best of 2019” list.

This is a pretty twisted read, which is exactly what this author is known for. However, this time it’s not just the twist at the end but the characters themselves that are all kinds of messed up. This story has some pretty dark notes to it even as it’s laced with plenty of sex. The characters are well developed and the plot was definitely original. With an ending that I loved, this book ended up being quite a surprise.

Holy hell, this book was so not what I expected..... it was much, much more! The hints about this read were that it was filled with sexy smut and yes, there was definitely hot as hell sexy times...... like change your panties multiple times hot but there was angst, suspense and intrigue. In true Huss fashion she kept me on the edge of my seat with anticipation, jaw-dropped with the twists and turns, monopolized by the story and enamored with the characters. This is one book that should be at the top of your MUST read list!

Yvette has lived a harrowing life. So much so that she no longer wants to live.

After getting away from her mobster husband, she assumed a new identity and lives in a small town nestled in the mountains running the local bar. Her marriage was horrific and she was lucky to survive it. With some kind help, she did eventually meet someone, marry and start a family. Until everything she loved was ripped away from her again. Now she has nothing to live for.

When Logan and AJ show up in her bar on a stormy night she really wishes they would just turn around and leave. A blizzard is hitting town and the last thing she needs is them getting snowed in with her. However, they seem in no hurry to go anywhere and settle in for a while. Unfortunately, the weather does indeed trap them at the bar but they feel anything but trapped.

After a few drinks together, they manage to loosen up a bit with some slow dancing then one thing leads to another… Yvette ends up sharing the most erotic night of her life with these two gorgeous men who know how to draw pleasure out of each other and her. Talk about multiple orgasms, they wring every last one out of her. On a day that started out planned for her has now completely changed gears.

Sadly, this is not a strange coincidence. These men know exactly who she is and have a reason for being there and no matter what it will end badly for Yvette. When one night turns into two she ends up sharing more with them, the truth about her life with her ex and what has happened since. Feelings begin to develop but they all know it would be completely impossible for anything more to happen once the storm is over. Or could they?

This is an erotic, suspenseful, page turning read - though I listened to the audio version :)

*I received a free copy of In to Her from the author. This has in no way influenced my review which is honest and unbiased. *

What the hell did I just read? I know Huss is good at complete mindfucks, it’s something I’ve gotten to expect from her, even. With In to Her, though, she took it to a whole other level! I was taken on a rollercoaster of feelings and suspens, plus so much hot erotic encounters I didn’t even know how to continue reading!

3.5

The audiobook had three narrators and the two guys had distinct voices which helped keep them separate in my mind, even though AJ had a kind of sleazy sounding voice.

There was a kind of suspense sub plot in this but it was mainly about the threesomes, there’s no dressing it up. It was really rude.

I had no idea there were so many different ways of doing it in triplicate. What can I say, I’ve led a sheltered life.

Where it lost me was in the introspection; the characters seemed to express the same fears and concerns over and over again that after a while started to wear me down and made it feel slow in places.

Complete story, free to listen on audible.

This book was pretty good but the ending majorly pissed me off so two stars. I really wish I hadn’t read this and I wouldn’t have if I had know it had such and open ending that according to the author is “open to interpretation”. I also hated Logan and do not feel like he was in any way redeemed.

JA Huss is one of my favorite Authors. I know when I read her books, I’m in for an adventure filled with all of the dirty, erotic, and teasing that I could ever imagine. This book did not disappoint. Imagine meeting two strangers and they both get under your skin. You completely abandon all reason and give into the sexual tension that is so thick, that you can taste it. Yvette, AJ, and Logan are a triad of lust that takes from you and wrecks your soul. The current of need that passes between them is magical and enticing. You will long for an invitation to their sessions. You will ache with desire and crave their touch. I could not get enough of them. AJ and Logan have a job to do, but what happens when the real reason for their presence is revealed? Does it change the nature of their blooming relationship? Will it turn the tables when they see that their mission doesn’t have the affect that they expected? Both are there for a reason, one is there to make sure that there are no loose ends. Yvette is willing to pay whatever cost to keep a secret, but AJ and Logan will know her truth. She will make sure that no matter what the outcome is, her secret will remain hidden. Lust turns to love; desire turns to caring, but in this dark, lust filled tale, trust in its truest form has to weave its way into this threesome. There is no room for anything else. Lives are at stake and when someone wants you dead, you find yourself having to trust the very people who’ve come to kill you. I loved everything about this book! This is JA Huss at her best. Sanity is abandoned and all reason is out the window. I couldn’t get enough, and I wanted more. This read transported me into this world and I never wanted to leave.

"One day can change everything."

It's been so long since I've picked a JA Huss book! No, in fact it's not been so ling. I read several these last months, they just didn’t feel like the Huss books I couldn’t get enough of when she started writing. No, this one felt amazing. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough and devored it in no time.

"We’re nothing to each other but three people who got stuck in a blizzard and decided to pass the time by fucking."

The atmosphere struck me right away, a cast of three characters caught up in a bar and the apartment above it during a snow storm. A behing closed doors scorching hot story, laced with a mystery that kept building on andbon and a twisted plot that kept me on the edge of my seet from the first to the last word.

"More of them. That’s all. Just more of them. More touching. More soft moans and wild groans. More connection."

Three souls met in the darkest circumstances. I felt for them, my heart broke for them. Their demons are lethal, I screamed, hoped and cried for them. Oh the beautiful dance they shared! The author totally transported me right with them in Colorado, where the ice melts with the flames of passion. And she left me in tears.

"I wish you would give me that chance."

What just happened?

Wow I'm not sure where to start. This was such a good read and the first I have read from this author. My head was all over the place reading this. The sex was ama,ing and honestly at first I thought that was all this book would be about but it was so much more. Yes I find it hard to believe a lot of stuff in this book could or would ever happen but I guess that's the fantasy of a book. And honestly this would of made my 5 star list but after that ending in lucky I could do 4stars. That sounds crazy and even though it ended in a HEA I think there should of been more to the epilogue. After everything we went through in the end I needed more. So I'm pretty upset about that but it was still a great story!

MMF HITMAN PERFECTION 😍

I seriously have gone down the JA Huss Rabbit hole and I am not mad about it.

This book started with a BANG… literally. Two hitmen sent to kill the wife of a mafia head who ran away. They do everything but kill her.

This is story is told in all 3 POVs which honestly helped me to connect with all three. The spice is hot of this world. From the beginning to the end. Even though it is a shorter book it has plot, emotions, and smut.

If you are into MM or MMF this book is right up your alley. Please check triggers.

I have read many books by this author but wow...this one was way more steamy and devious while also being quite sweet in parts, than some of her earlier work. I loved all three of the MC's and their twisted dynamic. Lies and truths come spilling out during some very heated sessions amongst them all...and the outcome was brilliant and very satisfying!

Not safe for some readers. See triggers at the end.

I think this is my first MMF and I was disappointed. I guess I like when the female gets all the love, so this was a little difficult for me to adjust to. It seemed like the guys were more into each other because of their history. It felt like the heroine was just an accessory.

I did not like Logan at all. He was constantly mean to the heroine. He brought up the abuse she suffered to her ex a lot and he did not have any sympathy or emphathy for her. He said sorry one and it didn't seem genuine to me. The author tried to redeem him at the end, but I didn't fee it. The book needed to be longer to see if there was any character growth there.

Aj was better to me. He showed anger towards what her husband did to her and he also saw her as someone he could have a long term relationship with instead of someone he could use for a day or two. He cared for Yvette way more than Logan.

***Safety Triggers***
Heroine was abused by her ex-husband
Heroine was raped by ex's guards and father
Logan witnessed this abuse, but did not do anything at the time
Heroine gave away a baby (might have be ex's or his guards) for adoption to keep him safe
Heroine's other baby she had with a man she loved (after she escaped ex-husband) died. She and the lover/husband were killed by callous ex-husband.

You have to go into this book knowing is smut with a story !!!
The book is hot hot hot, have so much sex that I was tired for the heroine jajaja. I’m not much into menage book. But this is a really good one and you feel the connection.

The story of the heroine is heart breaking and she is strong woman for living all that and still have strength for living. She was a wonderful character and loved to read her POVs
AJ is charming, hot and funny and Logan is the grumpy guy who you hate to like.

For me the best parto of the book it was the las 25% percent and I have to admit that I was crying at the end !!

This was effing fabulous. It was filthy dirty (MMF) WITH enough of a plot to hold my attention. Sexy sex scenes, plenty of character development, and I savoured it over 3 days because I was busy but was constantly thinking about it when I wasn't reading it.
And I even shed a few tears at the end.
A very fun and worthwhile read.

I have dubbed J.A. Huss as the M. Night Shaymalan of the book world. She creates these interesting characters in this little bubble where we think things are one way, but then the bubble bursts and we realize that nothing is as it seemed. I love her twists and turns and the fact that I can always trust her to give me a happy ending, no matter how bleak things seem.

And things were BLEAK in In To Her.

Yvette's story will break your heart. We get a little bit of it at a time, but from the very beginning, without knowing all the details, you just know her story is going to rip you to shreds. And that it's up to these two men to help put her back together and give her a reason to keep moving through life. Which is why this book is so freaking brilliant, because these men are in Yvette's bar to kill her.

Logan and AJ went into Yvette's bar on a mission. But, a tryst between the three of them, along with a mountain blizzard that strands Logan and AJ there for an extra 24 hours, gives all of them just enough time to take a peek into each others' lives. And that's when everything changed.

But, at the same time, nothing changed. Because all of them were still stuck in an impossible situation with no way out. The actual problem and motivations changed, but I could still see no way out for any of them. And I loved that - it's so interesting to see how the author works through the challenges to give me my HEA in the end.

One thing that these three are good at is the sex. Holy smokes, are they ever good at it. And they get lots of practice. Since there's three of them, we get MF, MM, MFM and MMF, and it's always awesome, hot and sexy. And the sex might be plentiful, but especially in this book, it seems like it's a necessary way for the three of them to work out their issues and to connect on a higher level. I know that sounds cheesy, but when you read it, you'll understand what I mean.

In To Her was not sweet. It was not romantic. But, there was love and SO. MANY. FEELS. There's suspense and mystery and a strong desire to keep reading so that you can experience the happiness that you KNOW these three people need, want and DESERVE. Prepare for the biggest of book hangovers.

**I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.**

In to Her by J.A. Huss took me completely by surprise! The book is categorized as erotica, and it certainly has its fair share of smoldering scenes, but it is so much more interesting than the standard fair of that genre.

First, the heroine’s name, Yvette Nightingale, is like a siren screaming, “there is a story behind that name”. Second, her bar, The Snowbunny, made my heart melt. I loved the name and the idea of a locals’ hangout mid-mountain in the middle of nowhere. That remote setting can only lead to something interesting happening in the story! Third, the first scene is a mind-blowing set up for a very unique story. No spoilers here, so I can’t spill the beans on the crazy start to this story.

Ms. Huss highlights the dichotomy of the intimacy and the menace surrounding her main characters, Yvette, A.J. and Logan. Yvette’s despair and fatalistic acceptance of her future is heart breaking. The tension between A.J. and Logan is palpable. These lovable bad guys at first spark fear, but later their positive advice and tenderness creates a sense of uncertainty and ambiguity about how they will proceed and the fate of our heroine, Yvette.

I love that J.A. Huss can write what most people would consider one long smutty ménage-a-trois that has a layered thriller lurking in the closet that is waiting to jump out and be revealed. Throughout the hopping from one sex scene to the next, there is an electrical current amping up as tidbit after tidbit is revealed from the three players narrating this story. You know something is going to happen from the start, but Ms. Huss makes her readers question what twist will change the presumed ending and where the twist will take the characters. From the crazy start to the surprising and gratifying ending, In to Her is a quick, intense read!
