Remember the Reaper #2

Cleansed with Fire

Rate this book
I remembered her. I remembered everything.
But was it a blessing or a curse?

Half of me was still in love with the blue eyed girl wearing my crown around her neck. The other, felt betrayed that she could walk away when I needed her the most.

Struck down by her absence, an internal war brewed within my kingdom. Along with my childhood memories a new emotion was unleashed, one I was unable to control.

Rage

Unbridled, unrelenting, rage.

overall I enjoyed this, but I don't think I was thaat invested compared to the first book? I was excited to continue reading Tessa and Andrew's journey because of the cliffhanger from the first book, but some parts dragged out imo (especially in the middle). However, I'm satisfied with also, I loved the dynamic between the Blackwells! They were the family Tessa needed and my heart was whole with how they treated her. Chase was an amazing side character and his friendship with Tessa, yes please! His backstory broke me tho. :(

I'd recommend this duet if you're in the mood for a good angsty emotional read, but fair warning, there is rape, murder, child abuse and drugs involved in the story.

“The castle . . . It’s our castle.”

My heart feels like it has been ripped out of my chest by the devil herself (SK Rose)!!! Holy Scythe!!! Cleansed with Fire, the conclusion to Tessa and Andrew’s story is one of the deepest, darkest Love stories I have ever read (aside from book 1 Crowned with Guilt)! I cried, I jumped up and was pacing, I literally yelled out loud, I wanted to reach in and be involved in this virtual story because it was written that well! INCREDIBLE!!!

“After everything that’s happened, you’re scared of a little picture, Reaper?”

This series broke my norm and broke me. Not only because of the cliffhanger from CWG, but it also has rape, murder, vengeance, darkness, child abuse, and drugs. Not normally my thing, but I don’t regret reading this in the least! This book was so well written and even though some of the characters are so screwed up, they are so amazingly developed! I devoured this book. There was no putting it down.

“Did you think he was going to sit around and wait for you, Reaper?”

This book is an easy 5 star rating for me! Reading Crowned with Guilt first, is a MUST! But you will want to go straight into CWF after (at least you have that option now! Oookkkkay. Yeah…I may still be sharpening my scythe!) This new author, S.K. Rose, has come out heavy with her first series…but I am so damn glad she did!

**Like mentioned above, there is rape, murder, vengeance, darkness, child abuse, and drugs in this. Don’t read this if any of the above is a “trigger” for you!

What an incredible conclusion to the most beautifully tragic love story. Rose’s follow up to her debut Crowned with Guilt is an angsty emotional roller coaster of epic proportions.
Why does it seem as if the universe is determined to squash Tessa and Andrew? At every glimmer of hope, there is someone to snuff out the light.

A story of two children blessed with an unexplainable and undeniable bond fighting against seemingly insurmountable odds for their happily ever after.

This is a complete MUST READ!!! It is a conclusion and not a standalone. I literally could not put this book down. I cursed every day at life interrupting my reading. Beautifully written. You would never know that this is the author’s second book ever. Rose pulls every possible emotion from the reader over and over again.

An advanced reader copy was provided for an honest review. My review is in no way influenced and is my own personal opinion.

This book! I can’t! Even! With! This! Duology!
I absolutely loved every page. This one does not pull its punches, and it’s just as heart-wrenching as the first instalment, but in different ways. I loved how this book was actually longer than the first. I hate when a duology feels rushed, but the gradual progression of Andrew and Tessa’s relationship gave me all the feels. Also, it’s not one of those books that ends right when they get back together. We get to see quite a bit of their happy ever after, which makes up for all the pain and heartbreak that the author made us endure to get there. The themes of princesses and princes and evil dragons is so perfectly revisited in this book, and we get to see that some princesses can save themselves. As if this book wasn’t good enough already, the epilogue was epic, bringing the story full circle, and I will be thinking about it for a long time.

Book 1 was great, and I was hoping the author would not ruin this second book, but she did.

I lost interest when I found out that the heroine was celibate during separation (4 years) but the hero was not. Worst of all he slept with heroine’s nemesis.

There were other problems as well, but this was the main one

Cleansed with Fire is easily, hands down my #1 read of 2018 and possibly of all time. There really needs to be more than 5 stars! I would assign Cleansed with Fire 10 stars easily. I am astounded that this is only her second novel. S.K. writes as a seasoned pro with a multitude of published novels. The way in which she weaves her words is truly magical. I will be preordering and one clicking every one of her novels from here on out. She has a fan for life!!

Tessa and Andrew's story left me reeling throughout. This will perhaps be the biggest book hangover I have ever encountered. When the author tells you this is an angsty read, she isn't wrong. If there was a check list for every possible emotion, I would be marking every single box. The feels, oh gawd there are so many feels!!

This story picks up where Crowned with Guilt left off. Andrew and Tessa's love story is not without obstacles, tragedy, heartache, and so much turmoil. There may have been a couple of chapters where I hated Andrew and thought he doesn't deserve Tessa's love. Heart of a princess, strength of a reaper is the perfect tag line for this book. I love Chase. He was there when Tessa needed a friend the most. Every girl needs a Chase in their life, especially a Blossom. Mr & Mrs Blackwell are the quintessential parents every child should be able to grow up with.

If you only ever read one series in your life you MUST read Remember the Reaper!!

THE ABSOLUTE BEST BOOK OF 2018! THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ!!!

Rose completely smashes all expectations, any reader had, with Cleansed With Fire. The amount of emotions that are laced within these pages is utterly unbelievable! Rose has you flitting from happy and smiling, to sad and crying. And brings it all home with a deep seated rage that has you screaming WHAT THE FUCK at the top of your lungs, throwing your kindle, and sending WTF did you just do messages to her. She has perfected ripping out your heart, chewing it up, spitting it out and stomping it to dust. I'm seriously just in awe with the amount of everything she poured into this book. It was a ride that I will enjoy again and again.

Rose, starts right off at breaking your heart, when she continues the story where Crowned With Guilt left off. I was seriously gutted in that first chapter (she has a fucking knack for that shit). I could feel everything Tessa was feeling. It was like I was transported within these pages and was living this story with her. Her pain, her turmoil, her rage; all products of a dark and screwed up life, were so raw, so real, so relatable. Rose makes her journey and growth downright impeccable. She is strong, fiesty, and independent; all amazing qualities you need to have within a Heroine. And, it didnt stop at just Tessa, Andrew's journey was just as important. He became the ultimate asshole to everyone. That sweet boy you met and fell in love with was no longer around. He was decimated by the choices Tessa made. Angry all the time, lashing out at those that love him. And when Tessa comes sailing back into his life his anger intensifies and subsides depending in the situation. Their love is Timeless, just like their Castle. The obstacles that Rose throws at them are, OH so fricking juicy and unbelievably fantastic. She leaves you sitting there with your mouth open and your head spinning.

It's a stunning conclusion

Once upon a time there was a beautiful, but broken princess named Tessa. She lived in a hell trapped by a dragon, the only time she is truly happy is in her castle with her prince. But life isn't a fairy tale and happily ever after doesn't exist.

The prince forgot her, and left her behind. And the princess always faced with darkness gave in and became the Reaper.

Tessa is just a girl trying to survive in a world that does nothing but knock her down, time and time again.

Chase is her best friend, both two souls born into darkness leaning on each other for support. Both having a glimpse at freedom- but freedom, as with anything comes with a price.

Force to come back and face the monsters of their past, and all they left behind. Including Andrew. Her prince. Once the sweet boy with the crooked smile, now grown and filled with rage. Once so full of light, he now has a little darkness of his own.

Will the the angry prince and broken princess be able to write their own story, or is history doomed to repeat itself?

I stayed up until 5 am last night to finish this book. I am sleep deprived with only a couple hours of sleep, and my emotions were all over the place. This book. This book is the stunning conclusion of the Remember the Reaper Duet series following the events of Crowned With Guilt. I am still so much in love with these characters. Tessa who their are many sides of her- including her strength her will to survive. Chase- he's a jokster, and born into the same darkness as Tessa. And I related to both. On some of what they been through, and their want to survive.

Then there is Andrew who turned a little dark in Tessa's absence. He wasnt the same boy who was left behind. Marybeth once the small bubbly pink haired girl, now grown and blonde.

The story takes many unexpected twists and turns, and kept me on the edge of my seat, wanting to know what happened to these characters I fell in love with. 5⭐ out of 5⭐.

I am facing a difficulty to form coherent and decent words to write an acceptable review which won't be filled up with screams, internal cursing, external device hurting and hating the author for writing this story. I was mentally preparing to get devastated after finishing Crowned with Guilt. But it appears I failed miserably. Is it bad that I feel that means the author has given us a mindblowing and breathtaking ending to the duet? I am sure you will agree if you read this books.

The reaper is back. Tessa has to get back to the town of her dreams and nightmares for her best friend Chase. The distance hasn't reduced her darkness even a bit. Rather it got contained to create psychological distortion in her. And it is not only her who has changed. So has Andrew. He is no longer the sweet caring guy. He is burnt with the "betrayal" and marked with hatred that turns into pure rage sometimes. Tessa and Andrew's life is like meeting of a hurricane with a volcano. The plot gets dark, twisted and sickeningly terrifying. Some times I felt the dark tunnel would never end. The emotions and raw passion were simply unique. And the author has written about the inner turmoils so brilliantly. Last few chapters were a masterpiece. I dare you to enter inside this disturbed and devastating tale and come out unscathed. I felt like I am right there inside the character's head and drowning in the feelings. Tessa is an inspiring , brave and unique character. The great thing about this book is it will never let you settle down and feel comfortable. You will feel your own boundaries are being tested. The story was raw, real , honest and heartbreaking. Andrew's character got new dimensions and a lot of added complexities but he is essentially the protective prince charming. Chase is the epitome of friendship. So is Andrew's sister. Everyone needs some light of love and kindness to overcome the darkness. And Tessa had a lot of them.

A glowing burning story of broken lives , shattered dreams and finally happy endings. Fairytales don't come alive so easily. If you are searching for a love story to truly destroy you emotionally and mark your heart forever, you have one right here.

"He's always been, and always will be, the sunshine to my gloom. But I've pushed him away, shut out his light, and all too late came to realize, I'm still afraid of the dark."

5 stars all the way!! Beautifully written, heartbreaking and tragic, yet triumphant and hopeful, it checked all my boxes!! This amazing conclusion to this engrossing and addictive debut duet has leaped to one of my Top Reads of the year and I won't come down from the experience of reading it anytime soon. Angst, dark, love, romance, hilarity, tragedy, it all was intricately woven for maximum impact that just blew me away!! I thank the Author profusely for providing a copy to review!

"My body hums with joy, and for the first time, I realize that in this fairy tale, I'm not the princess or the reaper, not a demon or the villain. I'm just a girl who found her way out of the darkness and into her happily ever after."

Bad but good

I really enjoyed the first book. I mean I devoured that thing. But this one kind of hit me the wrong way in a lot of ways. (SPOILER ALERT) I felt that the characterization of Andrew really took a bad turn. His immediate instinct to believe the worst about Tessa when she...literally does anything really left a bad taste in my mouth. It shows a lack of faith and trust. I feel like if he really loved her he would have believed in her at least to the extent that he would check into her disappearance to ensure she was okay. His attitude is more indicative of some empty selfish narcissistic and frankly immature need to be adored and a fantasy of the perfect relationship rather than genuine love for Tessa as a person.

His cruelty to her is also a major flaw. I understand a certain level of pain but his anger and abuse went too far for me. It was simply excessive and concerning.

On a personal level I had a problem with the torture of Tessa over half way through the book after a bunch of fluff filler ( it seemed to me). I thought The rape and drugging was needlessly cruel at this point in the story but I understand that that is more of my own perspective and others can justifiably feel differently. Just fyi for those who may get triggered or don't like darkness in their books, it is aggressively dark and twisted at some points.

The believability was rough. I'm not an expert on this but I am pretty sure that Tessa would have been notified that her attacker had made bail (also not sure how she did make bail or how Trent got the kind of money it takes to do that). why wouldn't they check to make sure her mom didn't get out if they so strongly suspected that she was taken? I also found it highly questionable that Tessa's friends would desperately search for her but not make absolutely sure she wasn't locked in the house right next door. On a related note, how did no one see Tessa's mom coming or going from the house?

I know this has been quite negative but as you can see I dated this book three stars. I honestly believe S.K. Rose is a very talented writer. I think she has major potential and recognize that this is only her second book. The book, although flawed (imo), was interesting and provoking in ways that speak to Rose's skill in writing and understanding of human emotion.

It's worth reading if you've read the first and can handle the darkness. Best wishes to all readers and S.K. Rose.

What do I even say about this book and this series !!!!!!!! I was blown away by Book 1, literally blown away.

This entire story has been completely captivating !! The writing in this is just special, that's all I can think to say and it's crazy that this is a debut. Because if this series is any indication of things to come from S.K. Rose then we are all in for some very amazing books.

This story is dark and haunting almost. It truly tells the story of ultimate survival, and sometimes surviving isn't enough, Tessa shows us that you can be there physically but you've shut yourself out from the good that you don't think you might deserve.

Emotional, Gripping, and with writing that weaves a picture that is haunting yet beautiful, this is MUST read series that everyone should absolutely read.

Omg. Seriously this is an awesome duet. Make sure you read Crowned with Guilt before you read the second book or you’ll be completely lost.

Tessa and Andrews story continues. After that ending in book one I couldn’t wait to jump into this... seriously what kinda roller coaster was this author gonna put me through. Book one gave me goosebumps. This book gave me goosebumps and had me reaching for the alcohol. Yep it’s that kinda read. Full of angst where you just wanna shout at the characters and wish you were buddy reading this with someone

Well done to the author on a fabulous duet. This was a fantastic read. Can’t wait to read more from this author.

I really cannot put into words how much I loved this book. This duet. The first book, ripped me open. I was a mess. I related to Tessa so much, as I have gone through a lot of similar experiences. The way that S.K. writes, leaves you craving more. Her ability to draw you in and hold you there, is astounding. For this being her debute duet, she wrote it like a pro. Andrew will make you swoon. Chase, the never doubting, always there, best friend and rock, is a dream. Blossom, the magnetic force of positive light, makes you laugh. It's dark, twisted and scary at times. But this really makes your heart heal towards the end. I cannot recommend this enough.

This is the perfect sequel to Crowned With Guilt!! If you haven’t read that, you MUST read it first.

Tessa and Andrew’s story is a whirlwind of emotional pain and love. I don’t want to post any spoilers but the battles that Tessa must go through to find her happy ending are intense.

Andrew remembers everything that happened to him and the way he tells Tessa is so amazingly sweet that you fall in love with his character even more, if that’s even possible.

I can’t wait for SK Rose to come out with even more books. Even if Tessa and Andrew’s story is over. She should tell Chase’s story! That would be epic!!

This story is everything

Every so often a book comes along that has you viewing the world from a different perspective, makes you question people, your emotions, your heart. This is that book. People can be mean, they can break you if you let them, or you can stand up and fight. This book is about taking your power back, gaining hope, love and a future. This book is perfection, beautiful words full of emotion that leaves your skin tingling, heart pounding and emotions all over the place. Bent, not broken. Cracked, not shattered. Somehow, this is the book I never knew I needed but so glad I found it. Debut books don't get any better than this duet!

It took me a while to come up with the words to fully express what I thought and felt about this book... This is this author's S E C O N D book and the conclusion to Crowned with Guilt, which broke me to pieces.

This was just as if not better than CwG, the characters were so well-written, they showed more growth. The emotions the author evokes. The brilliant picture she paints with words. Cleansed with Fire is a top favorite for me this year. I cried, I laughed. My mid was blown with revelations and things that I never saw coming. The finesse in which S.K. Rose's writing has can be seen and fekt through each word, sentence and chapter, through each step and achievement her characters make.

I experienced moments of great joy, sadness, anger, hatred while reading. I felt all of this towards the exoected characters and even those I never thought I would.

This is one duet everyone needs to read.

Yes, S.K. Rose is in fact a human glitter bomb! She has newly exploded onto the author scene and left her mark. She is a new one click author for me. I adored book 1 of this series and book 2 did not disappoint. So many squees and eeks as I read this book. I am laughing at the jokes in this book and then BOOM she knocks me flat on my butt. What did I just read. This book was one hell of a roller coaster ride that I did not want to get off. Keep writing SK Rose!

Loved the first book...and loved the epilogue to this book but, in the main, I didn't like this one nearly as much as the first. There was just something that felt off to me - for a start, all the characters began to sound similar to one another but really, it was just an awfully unbelievable plot.

Still looking forward to reading more from this new author though simply because the first book really did knock my socks off. This one was kinda meh - glad it's over so it's resolved but definitely not an 'oh my god I don't ever want it to end over'.

This book will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions, but don't worry the journey is worth it. I knew it was the last book in the series and I was taking my time and savoring the characters and thier story. I was 42% into Cleansed With Fire when I got the chance to read tonight. I just finished it because there was no way I was putting it down. I am sad that Tessa and Andrew's story has ended, but I LOVED it!

Cleansed With Fire
Cleansed with all S. K. Rose's fucking words is more like it.
Crowned With Guilt was an amazing and heart wrenching book. And the second book in this series was the fucking perfect conclusion for Tessa and Andrew's story.
"Fate really is a fickle bitch"
And that she is when it came to Tessa and Andrew.
My emotions were on edge from just reading the prologue. That's right the mother fucking prologue. And they stayed in a perpetual up and down state till the very last word of the epilogue. This is something that I have a feeling that S. K. Rose is sitting back wearing a Cheshire smile when she thinks of how she is torturing her readers.
Up and down
Up and down, twist and turn
That was what my heart and emotions were doing when I was engrossed in this book. And I will say I didn't want to get off the ride no matter how dizzy or how fast my S. K. Rose's words made my heart race. Her characters are so perfectly crafted that you cannot help but get emotionally invested in them. You will want nothing but and HEA for all of them, whether they are a main or supporting character.
S. K. Rose had an amazing debut novel and her second novel is on the same level, and sets a new bar for her next book. I cannot wait for more from her and to share her words with anyone that asks for a series or an author that will have you emotionally invested in the story and characters. Or if they are looking for an author that will have you wanting to throw your reading device across the room.
