Valentine’s Day arrives, and Princess Syalis is hard put to get the haul of chocolate she’s accustomed to receiving back home in her kingdom. Her latest plots to get a better night’s rest include learning to hibernate, becoming a ghost and getting an annoying earworm out of her head. Now how can she put a stop to the Teddy Demons summoning her every time they get into a kerfluffle…? Then the princess gets kidnapped from her kidnappers!
Another cute edition of the Sleepy Princess. I do wish that they would quit repeating how Princess Syalis was kidnapped and imprisoned so often at the start of chapters. Still its filled with adorable ridiculousness. Cer, Ber, and Rus are cute. I liked the edition of the Cursed Musician and how catchy songs can be. Hades and Twilight's relationship is interesting enough, the old demon castle is neat and Hypnos was a good character for the Princess to meet.
This volume was much better than the last one. I felt it wasn't just a bunch of episodes of the princess trying to sleep, but rather they went back to including concerns about the hero coming to rescue the princess. The graphics also seemed somehow a little less cluttered also. I would love the Demon King to be included more, I felt as if in Volume One or Two (I can't remember which) they were hinting at the possibility of a relationship between the Princess and the Demon King, but they rarely interact now. Anyway, looking forward to the next volume.
Another adorably adventurous installment of Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle. I always love the thought that goes into the different creatures and this world's lore. Not only are the designs cute, the character's personalities are immensely likable as well. This is a series that consistently makes me smile and I'm looking forward to future volumes.
This was funny, with nice art. I like Syalis. I wish more would happen with the overall plot though. It's entertaining, but feels a tad bit repetitive, which is slightly annoying as I'm buying these. 3.5 stars.
Another demon king fares no better than the first against the crafty princess! Will they all come together to face the hero in the end? (Will the hero even make it that far?!?)
There’s a bit more of an overarching plot to this one, which is a nice change and elevates this one back up after the prior volume.
The princess alternates between full-on sociopath (albeit more from raging narcissism than a place of maliciousness) and a pure destructive force of nature. This continues to manifest in some pretty funny scenarios.
However, I can’t deny that while this book is great, it takes a long time for me to get through these volumes. I enjoy them, but they also sometimes walk the line between work and pleasure for me. I wish I knew why because what’s on offer IS really good.
I wasn't sure after the last book if I wanted to keep going cause while it's cute it felt a bit redundant. I'm so glad I got this one. Expanding the world and there was progress for the hero. Though is she even a hostage at this point cause it seems more like the demons just love having her. So much fun.
This is the last volume that my library has of this series, so I guess that I'm just going to have to collect them my self, there just that fun and fluffy, they always make me happy.
This continues to be great in just about every way. I love all of the new characters we are meeting, and I feel that the plot is gaining some ground. I can't wait to read some more.
Reread Sept 2023: - Oh, Valentine's day… the princess really just does not understand the situations she puts these poor demons in. - I like the Scissors Sorceror, he is chill. Also love how M.O.T.H.E.R has redacted all that information about him. Really goes to show how much of the world and characters were preplanned for this series that on initial inspection appears to be nothing but silly gags. To my recollection, we won’t actually meet M.O.T.H.E.R for quite a while. - Quilladillo, Minotaur, Frankenzombie, and the goblin. The primary secondary cast, we see them so much, and they suffer through so much because of the princess. - Teddy Deomon Pajamas! - Teddy demons are delightfully thick as a brick. They are just so cute though, that you'd let them get away with murder. - Cursed Musician! - The princess's classical princess training peaks out for a moment there. Pay attention, she doesn’t show that side of herself often. As a royal of course she is skilled in music and can play the piano. - Kidnaped from her kidnappers - Cer, Ber, and Rus are actually really cute and a fun pun seeing as they belong to Hades - The princess and Hypnos are fast friends, too bad they both spend so much of their time sleeping - Twilight is once again reduced to utter ridiculousness all to save the princess. - Let it here be noted for all official records: it took 48 chapters for the demons to grow attached to the princess and they would have a hard time if she were ever taken by the hero. Completely forgetting that she is technically a hostage and that the intention of this escapade was to have the hero take her back at some point. They are doomed from her on out, she is basically a Castle mainstay now. - I love the recurring motif that the princess is some sort of scissors demon - That Komi collaboration is so much cuter now that I have read that series as well. That really does somehow feel like something that would happen to poor Komi and she just would never tell anyone.
I absolutely loved the anime ‘Sleepy princess in the demon castle’ so when i found out my library had the manga i HAD to read them. And they did not disappoint.
If the anime is funny, these books are 10 times better. The humour is perfect and I cannot stop laughing aloud whenever I read these. The art is beautiful, and I cannot get over how funny but interesting the concept of this series is.
1000000/10 recommend you read this, it's funny and such a good read!
Princess Syalis continues in her adventures of sneaking around the demon castle in search of the perfect sleep implements. She gets a bear costume, for instance, and thus starts being mistaken for a Teddy demon. She goes in search of the perfect lullaby. But the big surprise comes when she's kidnapped from the demon castle, to the old demon castle. I honestly thought this would be handled differently. I expected them to be relieved she was gone, and to find humor in her causing havoc with Twilight's brother, Hades. Instead, they try to protect her and get her back. I guess it shows how much they care for her, and are actually trying to keep her in their hold, even though she's a terror. It was a fun new element, though, and entertaining to see how little Syalis pays attention or cares about her surroundings and the people around her.
A review copy was provided by the publisher, VIZ Media, for an honest review. Thank you so, so much!
Finally after so much assistance from the Teddy Demons, the princess repays them in her teddy demon- esque pajamas when they “summon an ally” in battle. Fans of Komi Can’t Communicate will enjoy their brief mashup in a bonus story.

That was a treat! Never knew I'd laugh so loudly in this manga! But I like it, and I want more of it. Wishing it could become serious or darker as I move on to the next volumes. 😁📖
