Her estranged grandmother lived in Kernow House for years, but Hannah soon realises someone else thinks it's rightfully theirs: Raphael Tregar, an intolerant and contemptuous man who quickly gets under her skin.

I write quirky, romantic fiction, mostly with a comic twist, sometimes a little magical too. My Cornish romance series set in Pethporro starts with WINTER WITHOUT YOU, then ALL SUMMER WITH YOU, concluding with A VERY CORNISH CHRISTMAS.

The wondrous bestselling author Katie Fforde has said of my books, 'I love Beth Good's quirky style! A thoroughly enjoyable read.'

My stories are always romantic, sweet to a little spicy, and tend to feature either gloriously sunny Cornish beaches or snowy festive scenes, with heroes and heroines falling over each other in a futile effort not to fall in love.

I have too many children and not enough money, so need all the readers I can get. If you love talking to authors in real time, please chat with me on Twitter at @BethGoodWriter ... I'm there most days!

For a couple of years now I have been hoping that Beth Good would write a full length book, given how much I love her short novellas. And now that I have read Winter Without You, I'm delighted to say how much I adored this book.

This really is a warm hug of a book, perfect for those cold winter days, it is heartwarming, funny in places, with hints of romance, and just an all around fabulous story about Hannah and her new Cornish inheritance.

Add in a mix of animals, one shepherd who has a bad reputation, the local rabbit catcher, and a couple of other strays that Hannah allows to stay with her, she is starting to turn Kernow House into a real hope. Just a shame that someone else may have a dubious claim on the property.

We discover long hidden family secrets, and all the characters are easily believable and just seemed like good people to know, if a bit gossipy. There is plenty of plot in this book, loads of smiles and given the reasons that Hannah is in Cornwall could lead to a depressing book, it really wasn't. I didn't find it overly emotional but did enjoy seeing how Hannah was able to start making a new life for herself.

And the Boxing Day pageant just sounded like a lot of fun, as did everything going on on Christmas day. With some worrying moments but also some grand romantic gestures this really is a book for anyone who just enjoys a good story.

Yet the character I wanted to know a lot more about was Lizzie, she seemed at first so vulnerable but really grew as the book progressed, and I really loved seeing her coming out of her shell.

I found my self whizzing through this page without even realising how much time had past, in fact had I been able to spare the time I would have happily read this in one sitting, and I was sorely tempted to. I loved this book and very eager to see what the author writes next.

Thank you Netgalley and Quercus for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This is another holiday treat for this year. Normally I don't care too much for romance but Christmas is coming around so why not get into the mood?

This novel is sweet from the beginning to the end.(you can put the candy cane down now) It will be heartwarming for most of you guys.

This is about a young woman who basically lost almost everything including her fiance. She finds out unexpectedly she has inherited a house from her maternal grandmother whom she thought has been dead since she was a kid thanks to her mother's lies. The heroine is determined to make it on her with the rundown house on her own, but at least several couple of ladies come into her life unexpectedly along with her next door louse. As she navigates through her journey with her new friends, louse, maternity, cat with kittens, new house, she discovers more about her grandmother and her grandmother's great love through the lettters she discovered and the letters her neighbor has. There were amusing, frustruating, happy, loving, compassionate, stubborness moments all wrapped up in this book. The only problem I had with this book was why the heroine's mother lied to her about her grandmother being dead . I hate it when things are left unturned or unsolved. Other than that, this book was fun to read.

3 3/4 quarter stars from me.

I recieved this sweet ARC from Quercus Books through Net Galley in exchange for my unbiased and honest review. Thank you!

This was so lovely to read and I honestly couldn't put it down after starting it. Beth Good is great at writing likeable characters and I do love novels set in Cornwall. I honestly am on my way to find everything Beth Good has written and read it all.

Started this late last night and was up until all hours reading until I fell asleep from exhaustion. Finished it in the morning.

Please write more books!

Kniha mala potenciál byť krásnou zimnou romancou. Mala všetko. Prostredie, ľudí, atmosféru! Atmosféra je výborný základ pre dobrý román. A tomuto nechýbala ani dobrá dejová linka!

Feelgood Winter Warmth

Hannah is still in mourning for the man she loves when she finds she has just inherited a huge house in Cornwall from a grandmother she never knew. Needing to build a new life, she takes it on and decides to live there rather than sell up. But then she learns about her neighbour Raphael Tregar and the fact he owns the land around and has designs on the house as well. It doesn’t help that he’s also incredibly good looking. Feeling besieged, Hannah is determined she will make things work and applies for a job - only to find that Ralph Tregar will be her boss in that as well…

What I really enjoyed:
The setting. Having recently read ‘All Summer With You’ I was delighted to be reimmersed into the town of Pethporro and it’s eclectic inhabitants. There is a definite feel of Cornwall in this book from the descriptions of the wild coast to the idiosyncrasies of the local characters.
The characters. Many romance stories leave me feeling short-changed on character depth, but this author manages to make her characters seem three dimensional and their reactions and interactions come over very naturally. The supporting cast is, for my money, what make this book, they are varied and interesting. I especially liked Lizzie!

What I struggled with:
The plot. Or rather lack of it. For my preference, a romantic novel needs something other than just the romance to make it a really good read. Hints at deeper things going on are never developed.
A very red herring. There was a lot made of some letters and a mysteriously romantic family history, leading the reader to speculate upon all kinds of possibilities. But the eventual denouement around them was, in my opinion, a bit of an anti-climax.

Overall thoughts:
If romance is what you enjoy, then you will likely find this good light reading - light on plot but strong on characters. It could delight you on the beach with its snow scapes, or warm your heart on a cold winter’s evening.

This book had been lurking on my Kindle waiting to be read for some time for no other reason that I had a book backlog. Wish I’d got around to it earlier because it turned out to be a little gem of a book. Hannah Clitheroe has come to Kernow Cottage on the wild Cornish coast believing she wants to be alone to recover from the loss of her beloved partner in a tragic accident. But unpredictable weather, quirky characters and a seemingly curmudgeonly neighbour, Raphael Tregar, have other ideas and she quickly becomes involved in the life of the local village, Pethporro. Despite her best intentions, she is drawn to Raphael but can she trust him for he believes Kernow House belongs to him. To find out, I recommend you read the book for yourself. You won’t be disappointed. And I’m glad to see that there’s to be a follow-up novel!

When this appeared as a free book of the week I downloaded it on a whim.
The story line of a woman losing her partner, returning to England pregnant and alone, to a cold empty house inherited from her unknown grandmother, seemed a bit depressing.
The cover didn't excite me either, indicated the contents would be twee and bland when I was in the mood for laughter and romance.
So 'Winter Without You' gradually slipped down my library list where it stayed gathering virtual dust.
Not wanting to delete before, at least, checking a few pages, I opened chapter one and discovered laughter, romance - and rain.
A good read even though the author constantly drenched the main characters in the unceasing rain.
BTW – Admittedly December is the wettest month in Cornwall but this was extreme.

A nice festive winter/Christmas feel good story with romance and the backdrop of Cornwall. A place I've spent several happy holidays, although not in the winter!

Hannah Clitheroe finds herself inheriting a farm house in Cornwall and after the tragedy she's suffered it seems like the perfect place to start over. Her next door neighbour Raphael is determined to get his hands on the farm as his adopted father won it gambling with Hannah's grandfather.

Raphael doesn't seem very nice at first but Hannah comes round to him even with all the warnings people give her about him.

A nice bit of romantic fluff with heart.

I really enjoyed Winter Without You, which is a lovely mix of humour, romance and thoughtful storylines.

I loved the way the characters developed through the story, particularly Raphael (the love interest) and Lizzie, who lives in a caravan in a nearby field.

What starts as a rather lonely existence for Hannah, when she moves to Cornwall from Greece after her partner dies, turns into a close-knit community that radiates warmth out to the reader from every word on the page.

There are some great twists, bits of character history, superstition and mystery. The characters are fabulously quirky and I loved getting to know them.

Definitely a festive read worth getting lost in.

Winter Without You is a pure delight. I enjoyed every single page. It's one of those books that you cosy up with, that allow you to escape the realities of the world. It's a warm and comforting hug of a book and I loved it.

Hannah is at the centre of the story. Following the death of her boyfriend she learns that she has inherited a cottage in Cornwall, and she makes the bold decision to relocate there in order to start her life afresh. She desperately  needs this new beginning and we follow her journey as she sets up home, makes friends and tries to make a new life for herself.

This is a romantic read. The romantic interest being Raphael, the neighbour who wants the cottage for himself and, who from the very beginning she can't stop thinking about. He is dark and handsome, but he too has flaws and although I wasn't particularly fond of him at the beginning, I realised that he was misunderstood and I grew to love him. Some of the best dialogue in this book is between Hannah and Raphael, some made me laugh, others made me cry. They just worked so beautifully together on the page.

The book however is not just about Hannah and Raphael, as we meet so many other colourful characters along the way who inhabit this small Cornish village. Lizzie really touched my heart, the woman whose Hannah's grandma allowed to live on the farm in a ramshackle caravan. She made me laugh out loud and at other times my heart ached for this lady. Such beautiful writing.

Winter Without You is an exquisite read, that's perfect for those cold winter nights. It's a story about loss and learning to love again, and that sometimes love happens in the most unexpected of places.

It's the 1st of November and for me, that means it's time to start the countdown to Christmas! At this time of year, I love nothing more than to snuggle down with a blanket, some fuzzy socks, and a good book. This year I chose Winter Without You and it was the perfect first wintery read of the year.

Having never before read anything by Beth Good, I wasn't sure what to expect from this novel but I needn't have worried because I was hooked from the beginning and I really struggled to put this book down!

If you are a fan of the Hallmark Channel's holiday movies I would definitely recommend you pick up a copy Winter Without You, published today in ebook or on 15.11.18 in paperback.

For Christmas reading only

If you are looking for some easy reading romance over the holidays this will suffice. The main issue is basically will she or won't she and the story does get a bit nonsensical at times in its attempt to include Cornish culture. I read it, but I can't say that it will be a lasting memory.

This was a great read. This author continues to produce books that alternately make you laugh and cry. In this one, she is really on form. Good touches on serious issues like the loss of a loved one and being a single parent, and balances it with slapstick humour. The book is populated with thoroughly likeable characters and along with the developing relationship between the hero and heroine, she adds a soupçon of mystery and a couple of twists. Overall this is one of her best yet and I thoroughly recommend it.

Do toho všeho si hlavní hrdinka nese své malé překvapení.
-------------------------
Suma sumárum, oddechovka, kapitoly utíkaly rychle a končily napínavě, takže to "žene" čtenáře dál.

To vše uprostřed nádherné přírody a zimy, přebírající vládu nad krajem.

Winter Without You by Beth Good is a fun romance to add to your Christmas time reads. I'm not a big Hallmark Christmas movie watcher but I love a good Christmas book and add love, I'm in!

Hannah lost everything but when she inherited her late grandmother's estate she  gained everything and more. From the moment the book opens there is hope of something new and lovely and as at each trial there was something good to come of it.

I gave this read 3 stars on Goodreads because I felt like I really couldn't identify with several of the characters. While the plot was fulfilling, the characters and their purpose were a little haphazard. For example, Lizzie played a large role in the life of the main character, Hannah, but the author left out background information on Lizzie that I needed to truly understand her. Also, I had several questions about the Raphael and Gabriel connection that were never answered.

There were also SO many parts I loved. I loved the dynamic of the accidental roommates and I loved the development of the love between Raphael and Hannah. I would recommend this as a light read perfect for the holiday season.

Thank you NetGalley and Quercus Books for the opportunity to review this book pre-release. I was given a free copy in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own and I was not required to leave a positive review.

Tejto knihe by som dala 2 a 1/2 *, lebo 2 mi pride trochu malo, no 3 uz vela.

This is an lovely story to read – I thought it was excellent!

The plot is well developed and the characters are fantastic. I loved how the story played out and I thought that the pace was spot on. It was a very well written story that had me completely captivated.

I loved everything about this book from the cover to saying goodbye to the characters I had warmed too so much – the ending was everything I had hoped for!

Five stars from me – a fantastic festive treat -very highly recommended – I loved it!

Ah Cornwall..... All the blurb has to do is mention Cornwall and I'm there. This lovely Christmas themed novel is not about Cornwall, although that's where the house Hannah has inherited is located. Hannah's had a rough go- her fiancé's died and her world has turned sideways, not least of which was finding out that she inherited this property. She's determined to make the best of it and gathers in those her grandmother embraced. AND, she learns about the grandmother she'd never known. Of course there's also the next door neighbor, a classic brooding bad guy (or is he?) named Raphael. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This is a fun read with good characters and a nice story.

Great read

Loved this book. The setting and characters came to life as I got thoroughly immersed in the story. Couldn't put it down to find out how the beautiful story was going to unravel and if the dashing Ralph would change Hannah's mind. Couldn't wait to finish it but then wanted the story to continue. Well written with lovely believable characters especially Lizzie. Hope there is a follow up of how all these friend's continue, want, need more to read about this beautiful funny and sometimes tinged with a little sadness life of the people set in beautiful Cornwall. Would definitely recommend.

Raz do roka si dám aspoň jednu romantishe knihu, ale zásadne vianočnú. Niekedy ich ani nezvládnem dočítať do polovice😬. Toto bol celkom pokrok teda.
Kniha nieje ničím nejak úžasná. Asi klasická predvídateľná romantika. Veľa snehu, tajomstvá , new girl in the "town", drsný krásavec, lesbický párik na vedľajšej role a tiež postava s autizmom, jedna zákerná ex atď atď.

True Christmasy romance, a little bit rough in style but very catching nevertheless.
The only disappointment I had was about the unresolved mystery of Hannah's grandmother's story. Come on, you cannot leave your readers in the dark after so much promise!
