Ella's simple rescue operation turns into mission impossible when the Russian mafia gets involved. Bad things are supposed to come in threes, but in Vivian's case, it seems like there is no limit to bad luck. Her family and everyone who gets close to her is affected by her curse. Will Magnus and his people prove her wrong? Will Ella find a way to cope with her ordeal?
This story deals with the abhorrence of human trafficking and its prevalence. It includes a scene of coerced sex; however, no details are provided, and given the circumstances, it's the least traumatic scenario I could imagine while still making the story believable. The reality is so much worse. Still, if the situation is a trigger for you, you might want to skip that chapter. (37)
I’m sorry to say that Ella part and the way she was forced into having sex was borderline rape. Plain and simple. The way the authors tried to embellish it as something other than was quite offensive. Besides that the rest of the story with the other characters involved was amazingly lovely.
Ella is now finally communicating with her mom, but she’s not really telling her jack shit! She talking about horseback riding and ponds and shit like that’s important. And then when she does actually tell her something important, it’s as an afterthought to whatever bs she was telling her about her princess life. Then when Vivian is supposed to be relaying important information, she also tells it as an afterthought. It’s like there is no urgency in relaying information at all. Turner told her to keep him updated, but instead of texting or calling him, she tells Magnus and only after a whole bunch of other things come up first. Funny how at the end of the book Magnus mentions that time is important when referring to Turner and Kian always working yet things are moving incredibly slow in the passing of info. 🙄🙄
Oh well, at least Vivian is now away of immortals. And Ella has met one but I’m assuming it will be another month before she tells her mother about the strange man that could read her mind at the business lunch she attended. Oh, yeah, he thralled her so I guess she can’t…but, maybe her mind is strong enough to push the thrall. I doubt it because she’s so airheaded it would be too much for her to think that hard about something seriously. She acts like she’s on a nice vacation instead of being held against her will, but maybe that’s just how she’s choosing to cope with it all. Still, she should still be trying to gain information.
Anyway, see my notes and highlights on Goodreads. Happy reading!
Why is Vivian acting like a teenager girl? Just get to the point and move on. Why do people like Vivian believe in all that crap about her causing the deaths of her husband and adult male friends? Did she commit the deaths? No, so why believe she did? Vivian should just get on with Magnus and let him love her. The book is dragging on and there was not much of Scarlet in this book that I'd hope to read about her, so here's hoping that the lab make her entrance to bring a Guardian!!
What can I say I'm hooked . Vivian and Magnes's story had me on the edge of my seat . It's all coming together beautifully . That love story evolved so much from there introduction in the first book about them . Emma's story is the story that I want more of . There are so many different directions the story can now go. I can't wait for my next dose of children of the gods . I wish I didn't have to wait so long . When I find a book I enjoy if there are more I just continue until I'm done . So I literally read books 1-21 within a month give it take . That was 8 months ago so each time another is released I have to wait another 2 months for the next . The wait kills me but at least it's not years like some other authors . I hate when authors do that . In a way the book loses some of it's appeal . Don't get me wrong I usually still read the next in series of the previous book but the excitement is no longer there . At least I.T l u cad doesn't leave us waiting long enough for that to happen . Can't wait for the next . All the books in this series keep me hooked . I keep falling for the old characters as they come back to the story . I learn me about there story . Great imagination . None of the characters stories are exactly the same they all have there own twists and turns . Each character is unique and there is something to love about all of them . Give the series a try you won't regret it . Each story will have you wanting more .
I love the chemistry between Magnus and Vivian. Magnus is so patient with Parker. Ella is a strong teenager trying to stay strong for her mother and brother. She is handling her situation with so much calm and dignity. It's heartbreaking what girls/women endure in sex trafficking. Rape, being forced to have sex or just coerced to have sex are all the same thing. Some forms are more violent than the other, but the emotional, mental toll is still the same. Ella is trying to maintain a steady head to get through this. She is so brave. I hope she gets rescued and ends up with Julian. Who is Logan? He obviously must be a Doomer, but is he part of the missing group? He seems dangerous. Are his powers that which he can enter dreams? I want to hear more about him and his story for sure. He sounds like the next villain. You just have to love Amanda and her outlook on life. She is so fun and outgoing and genuinely cares. I love when all the women get together. Vivian and Parker are all in with Magnus. I hope they truly are Dormants and get through their transitions. Parker and Magnus moments are so touching. Can't wait for the final part in Magnus and Vivians love story. Hope Ella's rescue is soon. I don't want her to get pregnant. Such a great series. I hope it continues on forever. Midway through this series and still addicted.
Dark Widow’s Curse KU 288 pgs **** 7/16/21 Magnus & Vivian
4 stars. The story moved along, slower than I thought it would but it was still good. The flow was good, some filler pages but not a lot. The sex scenes between Magnus & Vivian were a little blah, skip worthy. The telepathy between Vivian and Ella is cool. I was frustrated with Ella for closing her mind for so long after she was taken though. I hate that Dimitri isn’t an immortal, that we know of, and that he’s not super gorgeous, I kind of like him right now. The story leans toward Julian and Ella as fated so I guess Dimitri won’t keep the girl, if she is ever rescued. I loved the Wiccan dance, I could have read more about that, it was a great thing to imagine. The other characters were mentioned some but weren’t prevalent in this book. I miss them all too. This book was fairly short as are all the books in this series and they all end in a cliffhanger. Not a problem since most of the books are already written and are free on KU.
I've lost track of which character is in which book as I don't write a review after I finish each book. The series is very engaging. Some of the characters I like better than others. For instance, I liked Wonder better than Elle. Elle seems so clueless. She is taking with Logan in her head but has not told anyone about it (or is that book 25?). She partially believes she is dreaming but then Logan says something that Elle would never imagine saying and still she keeps it to herself. In her ignorance, I worry that she will give away classified information such as the location of the village to Logan as he visits her in her head. Anyway, the writing is very good and the characters are great and the sex is good and the relationships unrealistic because they are too good to be true. The relationships are mostly about sex. The author does not seem informed about the psychological dynamics that really happen in relationships.
'Dark Widow's Curse' continues the developing relationship between Magnus and Vivian and the clan's quest to rescue Ella from Dimitri, a human-trafficker and arms dealer. While I loathe the idea of anyone being taken and kept, under any circumstances, against their will, Julian's borderline obsession with Ella is unwarranted; he has not even met the girl. Also, I wonder why Kian or Turner has yet to talk with Anandur about contacting Lana to find out if she knows or is familiar with Dimitri; I think she could be a good resource for them in this reconnaissance mission. In the meantime, the author portrays Ella in a way that seems she does not mind her captivity and is content with the idea of intimacy with her captor. When she is alone, I find this inappropriate rather than a sign a strength. The clan is also wasting time and resources to help her when she is ready to willingly submit to a life with her captor.
This one did nothing for me. I still love Magnus, and I love his interactions with Parker. I still don't care for Ella, but I feel like I have to try to understand her due to her situation. I don't care for Vivian. Her tough act feels really forced, and she's still something of a whiner.
Speaking of whiners...I can't stand Syssi! All she does is whine and she's judgemental and annoying. She serves no purpose in this story. I could actually be perfectly happy if I didn't have to read any more about her. I do want Kian to become a father soon, so I guess I have to put up with her.
I'm hoping that the next book has a little more action and excitement...*sigh*
Does curse always accompanies with blessing? Or is it the other way round? Regardless, I love the story & yes it's really hard to put the book down especially finishing each part of a series! Dearest author pls don't stop writing, I'll be good and promise to read each and every one because I just can't help it. It's too addictive! It's also hard to predict what the next book brings!!! Probably I'm too into it & enjoying every precious word! I wonder what comes after the blessing?
Only two things i truly liked about this book were Magnus and the brief reappearance of Anandur.
Just so many inconsistencies with this one. I don't like how Ella's story is going and it is creepy as hell, plus she still the dumbest character ever in these books. There are too many silly side plots so nothing really happens in this book its just filled up with nonsense (naked ritual???). Vivian takes Magnus's immortal status way too easily she seems too level headed to accept it that quickly.
Disappointed with this one. Hopefully the next will pick the series back up.
Things are heating up between Vivian and Magnus as they wait for news on Ella's rescue. The two women continue to connect telepathically, with Ella trying to keep her mother from realizing how bad things really are for her. Vivian knows that Ella's situation is not a happy one however, as her bitter solutions to the Dimitri problem suggest. Something has to give, the question is what? Stay tuned to Book 25 for answers to this question as the Guardians finally attempt to rescue Ella one last time....
This installment did not disappoint. I like getting to know new characters like Magnus, but I did miss hearing what some of the regulars are up to. The broader story with rescuing trafficked girls continues to expand and things inch closer to paths crossing with the Doomers, making me nervous for when they finally discover each other. I can’t wait for the next boom to come out!!
Valentine's Day can't come fast enough. I can't wait to see how Ella is rescued from Dimitri. This book is fun (the ladies exorcist) and suspenseful (will Ella ever get rescued). We're actually getting two love stories in one. And Logan...Is he a head Doomer that we have already been introduced to? Will he get more information than he needs about the Clan? I hope not! Anyway...this is just a great continuation to this great series.
Love this series! I really liked how this storyline started out but now it’s getting a little cliche! I’m more interested in Ella and Julian’s story than Magnus and Vivian’s! I find it a little weird how Ella is handling everything though, it makes it more unrealistic! I know it’s paranormal romance and is in no way real but the more realistic it is the easier it is to connect with! I still love this series and can’t wait to read more!
I did find it hard to believe that Vivian was more focused on sex with Magnus then worry about ella.he virgin daughter was forced to sleep with a old man and she is of having sex herself. I also found Ellas mind a little flaky she has sex not that she has a choice, then he is not so bad.it wasn't her choice she chooses not to fight but it was still not her choice he would of taken her anyway.
This is one of the best paranormal series being written. I just finished # 24 and can't wait for #25. I loved getting to know Magnus and Vivian and looking forward to their conclusion and the beginning of Julian and Ella. I have read them all and also have the audio version on most. If you like paranormal, action, intrigue, hot sex and love stories you will love this series.
I truly can not get enough! This series is amazing. I don’t see how I. T. Lucas makes all of these books so individualized. Is it possible to love somebody you don’t know and have never met simply because they bring you so much joy? It makes me happy to think that this series will NEVER end.
I love the entire Children of the Gods series so far! I.T. Lucas continues to keep the readers enchanted with what’s to come in the series. The way all the characters intertwine in each other’s lives is an awesome way to continue old characters stories and give the readers sneak peaks into their lives again! Love love love.
I read the full series and I have never been disappointed. It is the right mix of romance and action. The plot is still interesting with lots of interesting twists. The romance is not too soapy and the characters are real enough with their flaws and strengths. I am going to read the next and last one in Magnus story and pre-ordered the following one.
I am loving listening to the Children of The Gods series! I am at book 25 - Dark Widow's Blessing - and looking forward to continuing listening to the remaining ones. I enjoy knowing how the lives of the other pairs are doing while reading to the new stories and imagining how it will end, if someone will get pregnant ....who will be the focus of the next book.....
I can't say enough good about this series....I am so totally hooked! I am re reading it! I can't wait to see how the story of the Immortals plays out....these characters are so interesting and with the addition of children, it can go on and on! I plan to keep reading this series as long as she writes it! THANK YOU!!
If there are 25 books in a series, that series must be a winner! This one is most definitely. I love the ongoing relationship between Magnus and Vivian. Intriguing to the end! 5 stars for me!
I love this series!! But I don't feel the last couple books have really add to the story, they just seem like filler...short on the side stories of previous and current characters as well as Doomers that further the overall storyline. A bit disappointed.
I.T. Lucas is a gem creating such amazing story. The development in characters, description and plot let you immerse and wonder what happen next. Love this series and want to have the next book now.
There are three series I cannot stand this is one of them! Chewing at my nails and trying to keep myself occupied while the next come out😂. I. T. Lucas I hope your far from almost done.
This book was even more compelling than the previous one and Ella's story is turned just a bit dark. Logan is a serious worry as I don't believe that is his true name and he is clearly a Doomer, Great continuation of this series.
This series is nothing short of excellent! This whole series is amazing, and I read one book after another after another ! I recommend it highly to anyone. this is a very unique series and I love it and hope it continues for a very long time!
Another fantastic book in this series! I am acton book 27 and love every one. I love this series! As I finished one book went to the next! I dont see how in the world each book didn't get 5 stars. Go get book 1 see what you think. I'm betting you will love it!!!
