Tall, dark, and handsome...a man with the heart of a bear shifter and a smile that melts her heart.

He is everything Ronni could wish for in a mate. But will thoughts of her mate, and the family she dreams of, distract her from her mission to save the shelter and the lives of each and every one of the animals who live there?

Lucas planned to adopt a dog to ease the lonely nights now the rest of his family have found their mates. Instead, he meets his mate. And what a mate she is. Fierce, loyal, and protective, he will move mountains to help her save the animal shelter she’s dedicated her life to.

With the help of old friends and new, Lucas and Ronni fight to save the shelter. But when a property developer arrives in town, they might not get the happy ending they deserve.

Animal Rescue Bear is the 23rd title in the Return to Bear Creek series, and I have enjoyed every single one of those stories. This time around a character who we’ve come to know about, as she’s appeared as a secondary characters or mentioned in several stories will finally find her forever mate… someone who has lived not five miles away their entire lives. Ronni is the manager of the animal shelter that sits between Bear Bluff and Bear Creek. When the shelter is threatened with closure unless she can raise the funds to buy the property it seems like a hopeless dream. Yet the community of Bear Creek isn’t about to let the shelter go quietly without trying to save it.

Lucas is one of the family members who runs/works at the Chance Heights Activity Center… and he’s also the remaining member of his family to find their mate. He’s looking to adopt a dog to help with his loneliness when he finds something, or someone, even better… his mate, Ronni. And a beautiful dog, Jessie, who is in need of a forever home. It seems today Lucas has found two ladies to capture his heart.

Animal Rescue Bear is a lovely, sweet shifter romance with a few twists that make the future of the animal shelter up in the air for a bit. We’ll run into several old friends along the way as the entire town sets out to help save the shelter. I always love running into characters from previous stories, and even though most are quick cameos, it always adds a special touch and sense of community. We’ll also see the beginning of another romance take place, and I”m looking forward to the full story on that real soon. Animal Rescue Bear is exactly what I expect from this series – two mates finally finding each other, an issue or problem to be solved and moving the entire series along a bit further. I had fun with Ronni, Lucas and Jessie and I’m certain you would, too. I definitely recommend this story to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader. Do you “have” to have read all of the stories for them to make sense… no, of course not. Yet, this series is an addictive, enjoyable, community centered group of stories that you will want to experience if at all possible.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Animal Rescue Bear is the 23rd book in the Return to Bear Creek series. In this book we follow bear shifter Lucas & human Ronni as they find their way to happily ever after.

Ronni has been running the local animal rescue for a long time. She has dedicated her life to helping stray animals find a home of their own. She loves her work at the shelter & can't imagine doing anything else. But then she finds out that the property owner needs to sell the land the shelter is on. He agrees to wait & see if Ronni can raise the money to buy the land, but she only has a few weeks to do it & it seems someone else wants the property too.

Lucas is happy for his family now that they've all found their mates & started their own families, but he can't help but feel a little envious. He's still alone & feeling lonely so he decides to adopt a dog from the rescue shelter. He had no idea that he'd meet his mate while he was there. Can Lucas help Ronni save the shelter?

Usually I find that long series like these run out of steam along the way & I loose interest. This is not one of those series. With the Bear Creek/Bear Bluff books Ms Raines always seems to find some way to keep the stories fresh & interesting & Animal Rescue Bear is no exception. The main characters are usually someone we've met in a previous book & are always likable & engaging. The kind of folks you wouldn't mind knowing. Plus there are always appearances by characters from previous books which makes it fun. All in all this book is a fine way to spend some quiet time.

I really enjoyed reading this heartwarming bear shifter romance. The story-line & plot is well-thought out & written with an interesting twist. The characters are well-developed and display realistic emotional feelings of wants, needs & desire.
It is about: a female bear shifter (Ronni) who is determined to save the animal sanctuary when land closure threatens it in Bear Creek. She meets her mate, a bear shifter (Lucas Chance) when he comes in to adopt a pet, but there is possible trouble on the horizon in the form of a land developer (Matthew Lewis)
There is: bear shifters, various kinds of shifters, friends, drama, some twists & turns, news, dismay, shock, mates, attractions, worry, financial woes, anguish, friendship, memories, determination, confidence, contingency plans, decisions, dedication, nostalgia, distrust, suspicions, a conversation, eavesdropping, an auction, an unexpected bid, happiness, love & some steam.
I look forward to future books from this talented author and would recommend this book to people who enjoy reading this genre.

Great story with quite a twist at the end!

What could be a better match than a man who helps children in need with a woman who helps animals in need? Lucas and Ronnie are perfect for each other. The tension comes from trying to save Ronnie's animal shelter. With this story you get to revisit a lot of previous main characters, as well as meet some new ones. I always enjoy a new Bear Creek story and this was no exception.

The characters are vivid and endearing. The storyline is character oriented with some difficulties to be solved and some steamy scenes. The pace is fast with a positive and heartwarming tone! You can read this on its own, but would get more out of this if you read the stories in order. Bear Creek and Bear Bluff box set puts all those in order, then Return to Bear Bluff, and finally Return to Bear Creek. Along the way you can read the Wolf Valley series and the Second Chance and Silverbacks series! There are a lot of fun stories, some with more mystery and action than others. Enjoy!

Animal Rescue Bear

Animal Rescue Bear is the heartwarming story of fated mates Lucas and Ronni and their quest to keep the animal Rescue open; and of course how they found the perfect mate in each other. This book is a safe read. No ow/on drama, no blood and guts just full of all kinds of love and yummy shifter goodness. I have read every single Bear shifter book that Harmony Raines has published and trust me when I tell you that she never disappoints!!

As always each book is a stand alone but you are definitely going to want to go back and read them all. Me. Raines definitely does shifters right.

I so enjoy reading this authors books.
Ms rainier is the master at giving you a feel good warmth whilst reading.
The actions of all these local people in coming together to help the animal sanctuary was wonderful and nearly took away from the two main characters Ronni and Lucas. Nearly but not quite. It was lovely to have our last Chance sibling happily mated and to a wonderful woman.
Cannot wait for Simon, Jax, Fleur and others to get their stories. But first I want to read Sian and Mathews story.
I was kindly given a copy by the author but read this in KU. This is my honest review.

Just perfect

Such a wonderful heartwarming story. This little part of the world gets a little bigger with each story. Lucas now has two ladies in his life and he couldn't be happier. I don't think Ronnie realized that all her hard work and dedication, would have meant so much to to those who help make the auction a success. Looking forward to hearing more in Sian and Mathews story.

OK shifter romance, but a bit short

This is an OK shifter romance, with a likable couple -- but it was too short to have as much character development as I like. I knew about Lucas, as he was in other stories from this series. But I would have liked more background on Ronni. The couple does fall in instalove, which is typical for shifter romances. There are also a couple of sex scenes, but they are not really explicit.

Another great read

Wow! I love the way this author have created a unique universe with her characters. The way the stories come together and how her characters evolve and deal with life changing events. Even if you had read all her books or just pick this one for the first time, the characters will keep you intrigued and inspired. Looking forward to read more books from this author.

Roni and Lucas

What a lovely, heartfelt read. Roni is a bear shifter working in a animal shelter. Her life turns upside down by getting the news that the shelters will have to be closed and by meeting her fated mate. Lucas was the last of the Chance siblings to find a mate. They both unite forces with their entire community of Bear Creek to save the animal shelter. Lovely read. Highly recommended

Manager and chief animal rescuer, Ronni, meets her fated mate in Lucas Chance when he goes to the Sanctuary to adopt a dog.

Love hits the same day she is told that the land the Sanctuary stands on has to be sold to cover the deceased owners, Mr. Jones, medical bills. A method to get the money needed to buy the land is conceived, and the whole of Bear Creek seems to push together to save the animals home.

Two lonely shifters meet at the animal shelter and discover that they are mates. But she has no time for that right now as she just has to save the shelter from financial ruin. This is a Harmony Raines book, so you know that it will have a happy ending, but you find that you HAVE to read on to find out just how the problems are resolved. Very tense.

Nice love story

I enjoyed the story. Jessie was so cute and such a great mom helper. It was just a nice love story nothing fancy really. I do think the editing in this book was very sloppy. More errors that usual and very obvious ones that should have been addressed before release.

I have read many of Harmony Raines' books, especially the Return to Bear Creek Books. It is a brilliant series, very playful and each book seems to build footprints leading to the next book. The characters are well written and this story is so much fun. I love shifter stories and Harmony Raines writes some of the most fun.

Names

I really love all the Bear Creek books, but I find that there is a lot of time the names of the characters are wrong. In most cases the names are exchange with the character who is in the story with them like when Patrick is replaced with Thorn in Sage's book.
