The Catch #2

The Assignment

Rate this book
After spending a year working in reality TV, Derron Bagnoli is relieved to return to his "real life" as a Philadelphia firefighter – at least, he would be if his fans would leave him alone.

Sofia Rossi isn't one of his fans, but he wishes that she was. Independent, driven and sexy as hell, Sofia is fixated on a task: hooking Derron up with the mayor's celebrity-obsessed daughter. There's just one catch... Sofia is the girl he actually wants.

Derron...

After a year on reality TV, returning to my "real" life as a Philadelphia firefighter is a relief- at least, it would be if my fans would leave me alone. Sofia Rossi isn't one of my fans. Independent, driven and sexy as hell, she's fixated on a task: hooking me up with the mayor's celebrity-obsessed daughter. There's just one catch...I think Sofia's the girl I actually want.

Sofia...

The mayor doesn't understand how much he depends on me to get things done. I don't exactly love my latest assignment- helping his spoiled daughter meet her celebrity crush - but it could be my big chance to prove my worth. Besides, spending time with Derron Bagnoli isn't exactly hard. His easy charm and infectious sense of humor are impossible to resist, but I learned the hard way not to put my heart on the line. Now the career I’ve worked so hard for depends on making him fall in love with someone else.

I can't say this is an action packed book, but it is an enjoyable and easy read. I felt that the characters were well written and that I got to know them pretty well. There is definitely good chemistry between Sofia and Derron, but I don't think that there was enough action in terms of their feelings and them coming together at the end. It's needs another chapter or an epilogue to round the book up better and give you an insight to how the relationship between Sofia and Derron develops and the direction they as couple are going.

Favors

Sofia asks for a favor from Derron because the Mayor asks one from Sofia so the end result is to make Amber happy. In there, Derron asks for a whole lot of favors. Good story, overall quality of writing was good too. Proofreading had a few glitches, no cheating or cliffhangers and it ends on a happy note. This is a stand alone, but should continue so the story could develop Derron and Sofia's relationship in hopes of getting their happy ending.

This is my first read from author Avery Scott and it did not disappoint! I couldn't put it down. I literally read it in one night. The chemistry between the two main characters is off the chart. You can't help but love both Sophia and Derron. Sophia trys so hard to organize every inch of her life and yet shes a lovable mess. Derron is a pretty boy who you soon learn is just as pretty on the inside too. Don't mistake that hes still a guy and you might want to whack him one at some point in the book but you will be swooning again immediately!
I can't say enough good things about this quick read that will keep you turning pages and not wanting it to end! I hope the author writes another one with these characters in the background. I would love to see where she takes the whole crew next! You won't regret picking this book up. I can't wait to read her other works!

I’m a Philly girl, born and raised. I was so excited to read about familiar neighborhoods, but also the “Catholic” way of identifying your neighborhood. When asked where you’re from, any good (or lapsed even) Catholic supplies their parish first, then what specific area of the parish. (I’m not from Mayfair, I’m from St. Matt’s! And yes, people may not have known ME, but they knew my relatives and could link me. Don’t ever misbehaves...somebody is bound to know your grandmother or an aunt!) I hate when authors try to get local flavor but miss the mark, so this detail done well was awesome!

This was a light, easy read. I was glad to catch up a little with characters from the previous story, but glad there wasn’t a whole lot of repetition/overlap. It let Sofia and Derron really have their moment. The set up for the next story was perfect - enough of a tease to make me interested, but not so much part of the story that I felt it became a cliffhanger ending.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Derron and Sofia. She's the mayor's assistant and had been tasked with setting up a date for his daughter and the start of the TV series The Catch. He's a local firefighter and a hottie. Derron agrees to the date but the sexy assistant keeps his attention. Follow them as they navigate reality TV fans, a fake relationship and two very involved careers. I was glad that the two could have a HEA and still have their careers.

Derron is back on his job after two runs on a bachelor reality show. He is ready to go back to his reality and hopes of move up to luteniant status. Unfortunately his fans are not ready to let him go and are stalking him.
Sofia is looking to gain status working for the mayor and is excited when she is given the special assignment by the mayor. This quickly changes when the assignment is to set his daughter up with Derron. When Sofie and Derron meet the attraction is fast and strong. Will they forgo career to find a HEA.
Enjoyable and quick read.

This was a new author to me, but I really enjoyed this book. The premise drew me in right away, and once I started the story, I continued to be intrigued and entertained. I liked how Derron and Sofia first meet and how their relationship develops from there.

I thought the story was cute and a good read, but toward the end, it seemed a bit rush. There was also an event that seemed a little out of place for this book to focus so much time on. However, overall, I enjoyed the read as it kept my attention throughout and the characters were likable.

I am not sure that I even know where to begin writing a review for this because it is truly an awesome experience. The author did such a great job developing the characters, that I feel like I really know them, and not just the major two characters, but the minor ones too.
I loved everything about it - the characters, the plot, the emotion, the writing, and the ability that the author had to tell me a story that had me wanting this book to go on and on.

He is glad to be back in his day job after being on a reality show. If only the fans would stay away. She is good at her job and she needs to get the mayor daughter together with him. Now she just had to stonewalling for him. He wants her and not the mayor daughter. How is it all going to go? See what will happen

I really enjoyed reading about Sophia and Derron. Its a short story but it has a great storyline. Derron was on the catch. 1st as a contestant then the 2nd time as the main person. Just like the bachelor show. Sophia gets sent on a mission to get Derron to date her bosses daughter. The more time they spend together the better they get acquainted. The storyline was well written and it had a nice flow.

A fun romantic read, Sofia is not impressed that Derron was on the reality dating show, she isn't looking for a date but just wants to get noticed by her boss. Unfortunately that means convincing Derron that he wants to date her boss's daughter. Derron wants Sofia. A bargain is struck but Sofia might just be in over her head. A fun, sexy, sweet romantic read.

This is the first book I've read by Avery Scott and it was an OK read. Derron and Sophia were increasing characters, driven in their careers, almost to a fault. their relationship begins with an attitude of "do anything to get ahead", which didn't appeal to me. Once past that, the book moved quickly, was predictable, just OK.

The Assignment by Avery Scott was sweet. It was a fast paced, easy read. I liked the main characters and the story in a whole. It can be read as a standalone. I wish I read the first book in the series, The Catch beforehand.

If your looking a sweet read, where the pair fall easily for each other. This book is just that.

Great read. This book was short, simply and sweet. Amber disappearing and then showing up married was a real shocker and I never saw that coming, lol. I would have liked to see Derron’s and Sofia’s relationship develop a liitle bit more but overall this book was a great read. Definitely recommended.

Good book

Derron is a firefighter who made the news in Philly by being a contestant on a tv show called The Catch. That's how he meets Sofia. She works for the mayor and is assigned to arrange a "date" between Derron and the mayor's daughter. Things go awry after that and there's one mix up after another but Derron and Sofia get their HEA.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved Derron in the first book and Sophia is his perfect match. Of course Chaz makes an appearance and maybe gets what he deserves lol. There’s also politics, a spoiled rich girl and a family dinner that sounds like heaven.

Derron and Sophia’s story of one where relationships start from an unexpected way. Derron was part of a reality show and now he is left putting his life back together. I felt like it started really slow but picked up. It was an ok read for me.
