Christopher can’t help that he looks so innocent but has such dirty fantasies—and even if he could, he wouldn’t want to. He might not have any actual experience with humiliation or guys in general, but he knows what he wants. Ethan. He just has no intention of going after him.
Ethan has done his best to be careful around his painfully shy college roommate. He might think Christopher is cute and a little awkward, but that doesn’t mean he wants to make him uncomfortable. But when a college assignment takes a naughty turn and outs Christopher’s dirty desires, Ethan has to decide if he’s willing to take a chance and give Christopher the humiliation he desperately longs for.
Christopher might think his fantasies should stay hidden in the darkness, but Ethan knows it will just take the right person to show him how beautiful and freeing they can be.
53k words Story Contains: M/m sexual content, spanking, exhibitionism, consensual humiliation play, and BDSM elements.
Author’s Note: This is a sweeter version of humiliation play. It is completely consensual and both main characters are enthusiastic about their desires. The heat level is higher than some of my other books, but it is very much a romance at heart. Each book in the series will be a standalone story.
Tricked by a cover again! Unfortunately, I will not learn from this (just noticed that this reads like the first couple sentences in a Star Wars opening crawl). A bit of a confession? I actually started this a couple weeks ago or something. I was just looking to read something short and simple to cap off the year and this has been in my Kindle for a while now, though I wasn’t really sure whether or not I wanted to actually log this on my Goodreads. I thought it would be a little too much, that reading it would be too hard… but it turns out that this was actually pretty flaccid! badum tss. Thank you, I’ll be here all night. I remember there was this Tumblr post (yes, Tumblr is my main social media site. I realize that that’s a very funny sentence to write in the year 2023) that I read one time that was like, “People say this shit’s unhinged but the door is barely ajar!” and the thought constantly came to mind while reading this. Hmm, I wonder why. Anyway, I didn’t really like this, but not for the reasons I originally thought, but for entirely new and different reasons. Yay! Surprises are always nice? I wish I could say some good things about this book, but I'm coming up empty here. I've got nothing! I mean, it’s probably a bad sign when you basically snooze through a whole book, right? Not sure what it says about me that a book like this is somehow too vanilla, but there's no time to unpack all that. Pandora's box can stay closed a little while longer. Oh well, on to the next one. I guess I’m still figuring out what kinds of books I like.
Very sexy but rushed and emotionally unconvincing.
If you're into humiliation kink and control, this has some good scenes. I especially enjoyed one of their initial scenes where Christopher has to ask Ethan if he can get off by humping his shoe. Don't try to judge me, ok? It was hot.
Where I struggled was that these guys have been roommates for...I'm not entirely sure how long, I think months, but they don't know each other at all - and when Ethan finds out Christopher has been secretly lusting after him, Ethan just dives right in the deep end and decides he's going to date Christopher exclusively and also be his master.
It was cute, but it fell pretty flat.
For the oh-so-limited level of development between the MCs, there were too many extraneous scenes with cameos from previous books, and features of later books. Please, can I just have this story first?
Individually, there were a lot of scenes that I really enjoyed, but as a whole unfortunately I found it quite lacking. I've enjoyed other books by this author though and will still read on!
Sexual content: Explicit, frequent, well-written. Kink:
A super sweet humiliation/ erotic adventure.. these two were seriously sweet. Ethan who looked like the tough biker with a Dom vibe and Christopher the sweet roomie who was desperately hot for Ethan but was too afraid to speak up. After an unexpected moment in class, Ethan worked out the Christopher wasn’t just shy, he was a kinky little thing who thrived on humiliation. Once the door was opened, these two didn’t look back !
I'm not a big fan of humiliation play in a story, but to each his own and M.A. Innes is so good at making it not only interesting but keeping the reader reading on. Ethan and Christopher attend the same university and have one class together that Ethan doesn't always attend. For a class assignment about humiliation, Christopher writes a paper that the professor chooses to read aloud, and you can guess who was in class that day and who the paper is about...you got it...Ethan. Christopher has had a gigantic crush on Ethan for some time and he never thought that Ethan would be in class that day or that his paper would be the one that was chosen to be read. The story could have taken so many different roads that would have changed the characters and the dynamic of their relationship, but M.A. Innes chose to send it to the "fluffy" side rather than the "Master/Slave" side, and that was absolutely perfect. Ethan finally worked out that Christopher wasn’t just shy; he was a kinky little thing who thrived on humiliation of almost any type. Once the door was opened, these two didn’t look back. Be aware that there are a lot of kinky humiliation scenes between these covers...but the two guys are sincerely super sweet.
This felt like little boys playing at being Master and humiliation slut, but maybe that was what the author was going for considering that this takes place during the early years of college. It felt light and fluffy and very insta-Master and insta-lovey for my tastes, but I can see that it might appeal to some.
Chris y Ethan son preciosos. Me encantó muchísimo su historia, la forma en que se "conocieron" y como poco a poco su relación se fue dando, me gustó mucho.
I'm not sure what to say about this one. I liked it at first, but then it started to go down hill pretty quick for me. I think it's because of the repetition and lack of plot. Well I guess the plot is the kink, but there is way to much of it.
Christopher seems like a bumbling idiot. He can't even put a full sentence together when Ethan is around, how on earth has he survived life like this? And that's the crux of my problem. These characters don't have a life outside of this kink. I don't have an issue with the kink, I have an issue that they can't act normal in public because the kink overrides their entire life.
It seems to be a running issue with this author for me. I'm not sure if I should walk away, or hope that at some point it gets better. We shall see I guess...
I’m not normally into humiliation kink but this story was cute. It was a more fluffy take on the Master/slave roles and humiliation so it was perfect for me. I love fluffy reads.
Ethan and Christopher are roommates and pretty opposite of each other. Ethan is a big biker looking dude and Christopher is a nerdy nervous and awkward kinda guy that always runs away when Ethan is around. Ethan isn’t really sure why, is Christopher a homophobe because he told him straight up he was gay? Nope... Christopher was lusting over his roommate.
So Christopher likes being humiliated and embarrassed. Ethan gives that to him and the book is written in a way that you can just tell it’s exactly what Christopher wants and needs. Ethan calls him a slut but Christopher loves it and gets extremely turned on at all the embarrassing shit Ethan does and says that he basically comes from it hands free. Geezus. 🥵
I thought the term slut was used a bit too much, honestly. I would’ve liked a bit more variety in the name-calling. It got a tiny bit old to read that every other paragraph or so.
I enjoyed this overall but still didn’t like it as much as book 1 for some reason. I did really like both Christopher and Ethan as characters and I loved their relationship together as well so I’m not sure what it was that wasn’t working for me.
There are also a few characters mentioned in this book that have their own books. As soon as I was introduced to Trent and Hayden I just had this feeling that they already has their own full-length story and I was right! Their book is called Without Limits. I wish I would’ve known so I could read their story first because I’m obsessive about reading in order. Oh well.
There were 2 others also mentioned that have their own story but the timeline seems to be after this book: Derek, Ethan’s twinky friend who owns a sex shop, and Sean, Ethan’s Dad. Their story will come in The Only Way to Live. Shiiiiit... a best friend’s dad story? Sign me up!
Anyway, yeah. I started this series at the beginning just because I wanted to read the 4th book. See? Told you I’m weird about going in order, haha. It’s all good though, I have really enjoyed this series so far.
It's no secret that I love Shaw Montgomery/Ma Innes' books and this has to be one of my favourites....Ethan and Christopher are just perfect together....Really the way they get together was different and perfect...Ethan really loved humiliating Christopher and Christopher loved it....I loved Ethan's dad and would love a book on him even if it's with a woman..He would make a perfect "daddy".....A really amazing book and great addition to the series x
Ethan and Christopher’s story is kinky awesomeness. I love the relationship and intimacy that develops between these two. But I will say, I read Ethan’s dad, Sean’s story The Only Way To Live not too long ago, and I *really* wish I’d read this one first; this book gives a lot of context for Sean’s book.
While there were things I definitely enjoyed about this book it was a bit too instant for me. Ethan become Christopher's master instantly. They became boyfriends instantly. Then they fell in love instantly. I didn't buy it but I did enjoy some of the very hot sex scenes. However, it seemed to be 80 to 90% sex and I actually would have liked a few more scenes between Christopher and Ethan when they weren't either having or talking about having sex.
I will be honest, I read this book mainly because I had just finished Trent and Hayden's book and needed to see them settled, even the glimpse of them was sweet.
Christopher and Ethan was hot, it was a constant sizzling from start to finish, would have loved to see more of them than just their kinks, to connect to how they fell so quickly and promised forever so fast.
Derek needs his own book, he was someone I'd like to get to know better. Though that's the thing with these books, there's always someone in them outside of the main couple that draws you in.
Some things to note. 1. I don't normally read humiliation kink. 2. I almost never read books out of order in a series. 3. I don't like books set in a college setting. I don't mind if a character is in college. I just don't like books set in dorms, etc.
With that being said...
I read The Only Way to Live by this author not knowing that the two main characters (Derek and Sean) and some secondaries (Christopher, Ethan, Frankie, and an offhand mention of Jules) were introduced in another book - this one. I read that book feeling like I'd been dropped into a world I knew zero about. I ended it knowing I had missed a lot.
Then I found out about Christopher & Ethan, which is how I ended up reading humiliation kink, a book set in a college setting, and a book out of order in a series.
I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. The humiliation wasn't at all what I was expecting or even remotely similar to books I've read in the past. That's a good thing.
Christopher and Ethan have been college roommates since the beginning of the semester. Ethan looks like a tatted biker guy - i.e. a classic bad boy. Christopher, on the other hand, is shy and nervous. Ethan made it clear from day one that he's gay. Christopher barely said two words (ever) so Ethan just assumed he was super shy and straight.
If he only knew. ;)
A secret fantasy assignment in a class they share changes everything. These guys go from zero to ninety in a few seconds flat once the truth about Christopher comes out. Everything happens super fast after that. I didn't mind because the pacing seemed to work.
Ethan is perfect whether he's in Master or boyfriend mode. Christopher is just adorable. He's shy, virginal, and a little timid on the outside, but he's a naughty, naughty boy when he's alone with Ethan. :)
Reading this also explained something that had me shaking my head in The Only Way to Live, which has probably just upped my rating of that book by at least a half star.
Great, sexy book. I'm sure I'll read the 2 books before it, though they're not what I'd normally read. But then again, neither is Christopher & Ethan and I ended up loving it, so you never know.
There were also a couple of other guys - Hayden and Trent - mentioned in this one that I'm now curious about who have their own book as well, Without Limits.
Yet another delight from one of my favourite authors.
Each time l read a new kink, l never know how l will feel. However, this being an M.A Innes story l have no doubts that l will love the new characters she has created. It's almost like you are gently being introduced into new territories, as there is always sweet/cute/vulnerable boys that prevent the story being too dark.
Christopher is a nerd, a preppy cute nerd at that. He is sharing his dorm room with Ethan, who looks like he belongs in a bikers club. He is tall, big and together with all those tattoos Christopher melts each time they meet. How would Ethan react if he knew that he had a starring role in his fantasies? So stressed that his thoughts would come to light Christopher shies away from any contact.
Ethan is very level headed, he comes from an understanding family, he is openly gay, but thinks his roommate might have a problem with him. Why else would he react so strangely each time their paths crossed ? It's a shame, cause he likes a sexy nerd.
All it takes is an assignment from class, that asks students to be honest and open about their fantasies... As the teacher reads out one of the anonymous assignments, Ethan recognises himself. When Ethan really listens to his roommates desires, he finds himself unable to stay away.
Oh wow, the way the story played out had me so eager to read on. l had no idea that the subject matter could be so hot. Ethan and Christopher together are sure to keep you really entertained.
College student Christopher looks very innocent and has no experience with guys or humiliation but he has very dirty fantasies about fellow dorm room roommate Ethan, but he would never tell him anything about them let alone go for him. Ethan has done his best to be careful around his painfully shy college roommate and although he thinks he is cute and awkward, he doesn't want to make him feel uncomfortable. Then a college assignment outs Christopher's dirty desires and Ethan has to decide if he is willing to take a chance and give Christopher the humiliation he desperately longs for. Christopher might think his fantasies should stay hidden in the darkness, but Ethan knows it will just take the right person to show him how beautiful and freeing they can be.
I enjoyed this story of the clever way that the anonymous assignment was so obvious for the subject of the author's thoughts and dreams and the way that Ethan handled it. I loved this couple who were able to keep dating separately from their BSDM-like relationship at home. I also enjoyed the way that they had such a high level of trust that love really was a logical conclusion. Easy to read, feel and understand. This contains MM mature content with BSDM-like spanking, exhibitionism and consensual humiliation play in a D/s relationship.
Christopher has a humiliation kink that comes to light after hints are picked up by his roommate Ethan, stemming from a school assignment.
""Hayden would have understood how my world was ending in a fiery humiliating death... and if there was humiliation involved there would be a boner. So a fiery humiliating death with an erection. Just great."
Christopher is mortified that Ethan now knows his secret..
"The idea of going back to the bland existence where my quiet roommate jumped at his shadow, desperate to hide everything he wanted, was almost painful. But if that was what he wanted, I'd understand. He's gone from a cute little closet case to having his fantasies bared for me to see in a matter of seconds. It couldn't be easy to adapt to."
"I want my first time to be with someone who understands what I need and who can give me every dirty fantasy I've ever had, all wrapped up into one incredible experience."
It was a deliciously sweet and dirty, hot and sexy story. Christopher and Ethan developed a great relationship. It allowed us to get into their heads and make a kink we may not understand a little less taboo. A beautiful story about overcoming your fears to find your perfect person.
God, M.A.! How can you create such perfect characters! I'm in love with both of them and that's a complete different story from me only liking their chemistry together.
This was written so good, I just couldn't put the d@mn thing down and take a breath until I finished it.
This book made me laugh countless times and if I wasn't laughing my @ss off you can bet I was grinning. Chris was the biggest drama queen and I loved him for it he was halirious. Ethan was just as good, wonderfully wicked. The sex was hot especially the scene it was smoking hot, I was dying to see it from book one of this series when Kyle almost had Nick
So I got hot sex, funny and wicked characters and reasonable development speed all warped in one book? PERFECT!
Definitely gonna read it again, that's mostly thanks to the comedy element.
Yet another brilliant read from M.A!! In this we meet Christopher and Ethan. They are roommates but the complete opposites of each other. Christopher is shy, quiet, skittish, whenever he's near Ethan as, in is mind, there's no way, by the looks and his manner, that Ethan could be gay. It's kind of a classic case of "Judging a book by its cover." It isn't until something happens in one of their lectures, one which neither guy knew they shared, that things change. What follows is a fantastic journey for both guys, a journey that will have you laughing at times at Christopher, loving how emphatic Ethan is towards Christopher and also loving them together as a couple. Absolutely brilliant read!
This is another great story from this author, who can make just about any kink seem sweet and romantic. Christopher looks innocent but gets excited by being humiliated or embarrassed. His roommate Ethan looks like a biker, but he's kind and smart - and shocked when he realizes that Ethan is gay, kinky, and interested in him. These two are great together. Their visit to the adult story owned by Ethan's friend Derek is both sexy and hilarious, and I really hope Derek will get his own story someday. I love Ethan's father and the guys at his shop, and Christopher's kinky friends. This is a fun and steamy book, and I will read it again!
This was sooo good, so much so I read it in one sitting. I loved Christopher and Ethan’s story! The chemistry between them was portrayed so well. This was my first book with humiliation play and I really enjoyed it. This author writes such sweet and kinky stories and I immediately get hooked into the story. Ethan was so in tune with Christopher on what he needed as both his boyfriend and his Master. I thought what Ethan considered their “real meeting” was so cute. It’s not all sweet though - don’t forget the hot and sexy. Their shopping trip at the “specialty” store? So. Hot.
What started out with Christopher submitting a paper to his professor about a kinky fantasy about his dorm roommate, Ethan, turns into something more when the fantasy was read aloud in class. Ironically, Ethan was also taking the same class as Christopher. Christopher is adorable and Ethan is exactly what he needs.
This cute story involves Master/slave relationships, humiliation, and a budding new relationship along with virginity. I would highly recommend this story as well as the other two books in the series.
I could not get over the insane logic at play here. An anonymous fantasy for a school assignment that's read aloud without your permission is somehow sexual harassment that you need to take personal responsibility for, but intentionally confronting your roommate about it entirely via dirty talk and name-calling with no prior discussion isn't? While we're at it, thoughtcrime is not real. You don't need consent for fantasies about people. I hate that this idea has breached containment into published fiction.
This is a sweet book full of dirty fantasies that come to life for Christopher and his roommate. Ethan just thought that his roommate was really shy, but after the most recent class assignment, he knows another side to him. Master and boy and coming out to play. No shame except for what is wanted. Humiliation play at it's best.
I enjoyed this story and have found the more side characters that I want to learn more about.
Ethan & Christopher, Ethan’s dad, Derek, Trent and Hudson, i love all of them!
It all started when in class, the professor is reading out loud a few fantasy essays she made her student write. And Ethan heard one that was similar to what happened between him and his roommate. Long story short, the drama queen Christopher is head over heels in love with his roommate, and him and Ethan makes on hot couple!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I couldn't get past how confused I was at the very beginning. It did the opposite of hooking me in. Basically, one of the guy's teachers reads a student's homework assignment out loud in class, and here's the confusion, it's him. But not his essay, but it's about him. His roommate wrote it, but his roommate is not in this class. It was just so disorienting to try and figure out that the guy wasn't listening to the assignment he had written. It was like a riddle instead of a hook.
Ethan looks tough with his swagger but he's also smart. And lucky, with his supportive father and psuedo uncles. Christopher, on the other hand, has to deal with distant and disapproving parents. It's lonely fantasizing about his hot, gay roomie while he's too shy to even really talk to the guy. Enter one paper read out by the professor in a shared class and suddenly things get...embarrassing. Which thrills both of them in their own way.
Okay still reading it but I am so confused bc they are so many typos ?? And incorrect grammar ? And sentences that just some make sense. Literally thought this was a an ai written book at first and I’m confused bc no one else has mentioned this. I think it’s a pretty surface level book which I’m fine with but I keep getting confused because a lot of the dialogue specifically sounds weird grammatically.
