Finding Paris

Rate this book
‘Hedley Derenzie writes with startling resonance about the rocky road to self-discovery after it dawns on her that she alone is the common denominator in her heartbreaks. A love story told with raw emotion, heart and great optimism.’ —Jacinta Tynan, journalist and author of Mother Zen

When you’ve looked for love in all the wrong places, there’s only one place left to go …

Reeling from another romantic failure, Hedley Derenzie booked a trip to Paris, la Cité d’Amour, in the hope of finding true love. Or at the very least a gorgeous Frenchman with whom she could have a wild summer fling and wash away the inconvenient and all-too-familiar heartbreak.

Instead, Hedley found herself on the other side of the world with no luggage, a string of failed relationships behind her and the shocking realisation that they all had one thing in common — her.

Join Hedley on her personal and often hilarious quest to unravel the truth about sex and love — in the one place you should never go following a break-up!

I love the honesty seeping through the pages in this book. To bare your soul into your story truly makes a special treasure. It’s true, I could not always find the character relatable and sometimes was irritated by her sheer entitlement. However her spiritual journey and self reflection is truly admirable. Not to mention gutsy to share it with the world. I found myself drawing parallels to her truly low moments, especially being yelled at in French or being mugged. Crying in a taxi. By the end of the book I was cheering her on as if she were an old friend. Strongly recommend the read.

Reading this book was like chatting with a friend about their love life. To start, it was clever and witty. It had some relatable moments, but then the protagonist got a bit whiney and annoying. It's that friend you want to just shake some sense into, but continues to ignore your advice and be annoying to the point that you question whether the friendship is worth it. That's where this book left me...

I picked this book up at Sydney Airport, for my flight to Rome and finished it time I’d arrived to Hong Kong, for my layover....On a quest to the ‘City of Love’, this read was a relatable journey of self discovery; heartbreaking; funny and a real page turner - I can’t wait to read, ‘Meet Me In Milan’ now as well! ~ Gabriella La Rosa

A very cute beach read with a fun storyline. I was enthralled in the beginning and was rooting for Hedley but towards the end it felt a bit repetitive. I am curious to read the sequel to see what is next for her though!
