Funny Side Up jokes are funny, clever, witty, and not cheesy jokes! Good for many smiles, giggles, and happy groans! Had to share some with friends and family while I was reading it!
This book is divided into ten sections of jokes based on categories.
There are some jokes that are mildly funny. But I was wanting more laugh out loud great ones.
There are definitely some that I enjoyed a lot. For example, "I used to sell security alarms door to door, and I was really good at it. If no one was home, I would just leave a brochure on the kitchen table." :)
Or "My daughter asked for a Cinderella themed birthday party. So I made her and her friends mop the floor and do the dishes."
Overall, there were some jokes that were less original. But there were also some good ones.
I got this book for free off Amazon and I should have been paid for reading this. It's mostly jokes being rehashed, slightly reworded or outright copied from other comedians who did it better. I've shared it with my friend who is mad about dad jokes but even he said it was too bad for him to continue. Would probably make a good Christmas present for an older dad.
Now the thing about a book of jokes is you have probably heard some of them before. This is true here also, but the thing you have think about is this joke still funny reading it for a second time. Now if it makes you smile or laugh then it was reading again. As I read this book I have to say the old ones made me laugh the second time as the first time and there were some new ones that made me laugh just as loud. We all need a laugh at times and what better place than a book of jokes. One warning there are a few jokes here that are a bit risque, but for the most part you could tell a y of the jokes at the dinner table.
Super short book. I didn't mean to read it all but I just did--all in one sitting. I feel like someone might read this review and think there is something witty or funny or punny in my review but I don't think there is. I got this book free in ebook format via Amazon. I know a fellow who is always finding and sharing, or even thinking up his own, as he calls them, dad jokes. I sent him the link in case he wanted to read it, and then I stayed out and got it and read it myself. I did laugh out loud at a few of them.
I'm a sucker for a good joke, and even more of a sucker for a groan-worthy pun, so I figured this book would be right up my alley.
In a way, it was... but not entirely. I was hoping to find more original material, stuff I'd never seen before, but alas, a lot of what's in this book is old-hat stuff I've seen and heard before. Even so, there are some laughs to be found in this book, especially for readers who haven't been around the block quite as many times as I have. :)
Kindle Customer HO-HUM... Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2020 Verified Purchase Another unfunny book of jokes. Honestly, I got this one for free on my Kindle, read them all, and concluded that it was "free" for a reason... The joke was on me. (NOT recommended)
Some of the jokes within were funny, some were terrible, many were the groan inducing Dad jokes. I enjoyed reading them out loud to my family. It was amusing to laugh at how bad most of the jokes were.
Some very pun-y jokes; a few went way over my head and there is a sprinkling of risque ones. Others had me laughing out loud and one in particular hit home with family.
1 star. Got this for free through BookBub. Meh. Most of the jokes were unoriginal and/or sexist/homophobic/transphobic. I found quite a few of the jokes to be very clunky. There were many repeated humor devices. I did appreciate that there was a mix of humor levels— some of these are extremely dark/inappropriate while some are kid-friendly. This seems like a great book for Boomer Dads.
