About the author

The tarot has been a part of my personal and professional life for nearly twenty years. I first discovered the Tarot in college. Right from the start, the tarot intrigued me with its marvelous blending of mythology, psychology, art, history mystery, and magic.

My education in the tarot has been and continues to be broad and enlightening. I am grateful to have been blessed with the opportunity to study under renowned tarot scholars Mary K. Greer and Rachel Pollack. I have also had the privilege to share the wonders of the tarot with all manner of wide-eyed, would-be tarot readers.

I enjoy giving a voice to tarot cards by writing the books that accompany decks. I have had the good fortune to write books and booklets for several decks, including A Guide to Mystic Faerie Tarot (Llewellyn, July 2007), The Gilded Tarot Companion (Llewellyn, September 2004), The Enchanted Oracle (Llewellyn, September 2008), The Mystic Dreamer Tarot (Llewellyn, September 2008), and Shadowscapes Tarot (Llewellyn, May 2010). Recently, I finished writing a new edition of Tarot for Beginners (Llewellyn, November 2010).

My articles on the tarot have appeared in several tarot publications and in Llewellyn's New Worlds of Mind and Spirit.

Over the years, I have been very active in the tarot community. I am a founding member of the Minnesota Area Tarot Symposium and have spoken at tarot conferences around the United States. In July of 2010, I had the pleasure of attending the Tarot Association of the British Isles (TABI) Annual Conference as keynote speaker.

In addition to teaching tarot classes and providing personal readings, I currently work as a consultant for tarot publishers Llewellyn Worldwide and Lo Scarabeo. I also contribute bi-weekly posts to Llewellyn's Tarot Pathways blog. I am very excited to be working on designing several forthcoming tarot decks as well as another book for tarot newbies on spread design.

Written completely for the layman, this is a nice and fluffy beginners book on energy and energy workings. The author is careful to Define specific terms and also gives several examples of their uses. The author compares energy cleansing to good hygiene or to cultivating a garden. She goes over several techniques for clearing energy and pertains them to the five elements. This book takes you step-by-step and month to month on preparation, tools, and practice. The author uses her experience as a tarot reader to explain how to manifest change using personal energy.
The author takes a graceful approach and explains things in a very concise and gentle manner. By the end of the book you are feeling strong and empowered. Like you can move mountains with your mind. Good read. Highly recommend!

This is a wonderful book ! I highly recommend this book for everyone interested in energy clearing. I discovered this book on Net Galley and am so thankful to the publisher and the author for the opportunity to review . These are stressful times and energy clearing is a critical piece of my self care to cope so I enjoyed perfecting my practice after reading this book.
The author has written this guide to spiritual cleansing and the effect it has on our lives. , It is written for anyone new to the subject or experienced to benefit from. .
The author exhibits how energy work is important to learn and the practice improves our lives through cleansing. This was an amazing read that I will be buying a copy of to keep and use over and over again. The blessings section was really beautiful and gives the reader a lovely practice I am devoted to regularly include in my daily life. The instruction and blessings are well defined and described beautifully to benefit every practice.

It is absolutely ridiculous the amount of information I gained and learned from this book. Easy to read and understand, it’s definitely a book you want to keep and revisit whenever you need a reminder or to refresh the information. Excellent & useful exercises, examples and practices.

I found this book to be informative and interesting. Although I felt a little lacking in some of the basic groundwork- that is, some of the concepts discussed were beyond my introductory knowledge - the book was useful and inspiring. A worthwhile read for sure.

Modern Guide to Energy Clearing is a comforting resource for those who desire to understand the energy around them. It aids in developing a practice tailored for the practitioner in a way that allows them to create and work in tandem with energy.

The reader begins by learning how to clear negative energy and maintain the positive within. Then they explore how to expand that energy into their environment by using methods such as setting intentions, shielding, and addressing the elements around them. They will also learn how to utilize many different tools including candles, runes, and sage.

This book offers guidance in bringing peace into your life and also the world.

A very nice book for beginners. Although very informative, the author could have put a bit more detail into the basic groundwork. Regardless, I still recommend this title to those who want to learn more about energy clearing, and have also added it to the library.

I started reading with loads of objectivity. As a person who is into psychology and self- development books i thought "ok the beggining is very basic but it ll be better probably" nah i was veeery mistaken. hovewer book overral is not terrible, while describing some techniques author is like "i didnt try but i heard.." like if u re writing u should know the topic right? imo #1 red flag. another thing which i consider important were methaphores- compairing energy to closet or garden make me laugh.. thats not the things you can compare be fr... for an absolute begginers this book could be useful but ppl who are in the topic of energy etc this lecture is a gentle silly outline of the major informations about energy term / i read it in PL translation

I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. As an introvert and empath who is into all things spiritual, I very much enjoyed this book. The author's tone was friendly and down to earth, but she also takes these concepts and her work seriously and I admire and respect that. The book does a wonderful job at showing why energy work is important to learn and practice. I do wish more attention had been given to the cord cutting section, but overall, this was an amazing read. The blessings section was particularly beautiful and expounds on a practice I already regularly include in my life. Will recommend and will read again!

Energy clearing is an important part of the spiritual existence. This book will take you on a journey of clearing the bad and negative energy from your life and giving you a clearer prospective. The book is written with the beginner in mind but can be read and used by those who have a working knowledge of clearing energies already.

The book is very informative and gives multiples ways of clearing your energy and getting back on a clear path in your spiritual being. There are many way from journaling to burning sage and more.

I really enjoyed the author's approach to energy clearing. I found her explanation of techniques and the "why" behind clearing very practical, easy to understand and apply without going above and beyond or by focusing on tradition or dogma, lending her intent to creating a "modern guide" to serve its purpose quite well. I do plan on revisiting this book going into the New Year to try and incorporate tools and techniques into my own daily life. Highly recommend for those who are seeking insights and simple, straightforward tips on spiritual/energy management.

I walked into this book... open-minded... yet reserved. I was blown away by how this author spoke to me and my soul. Every thought and ideal made perfect sense... even if some of the techniques didn't jive with me personally. I still found it incredibly easy to adopt so many of those ideas and make them my own. I feel the author achieved what she was trying to do... in helping another...(me) tap into myself and begin to heal all the old wounds plaguing my soul. Although I've merely scratched the surface... I'm well on my way to my souls true desire and ever changing truth.

Once again, I find that work I did with Morter Institute of Bioenergetics allows me to be a quick read with book. I did get something new from Moore's discussion on reproach. The books organization of tell me what you are tell me, then tell me makes the material accessible for new explorers into the topic.

Like Laura Tempest Zakroff in Liminal Weave, Barbara Moore presents a pragmatic respectful and empowering approach to the metaphysical. The gobblygook that dresses the occult approach has been stripped away and what is left are principles and an invitation to go forward with ones own agency.

Perhaps some science of unified physics could be added for background, but this book assumes that the reader does not need to be convinced that subtle energy exists.

I am relatively new to crystals and energy cleaning. This is a perfect book for someone that is new to clearning or just want a little guidance on how to do things, why to them them, etc. The book is full of information and I will be using what I read in the future. I have been interested in Energy Clearing for awhile now I had just started to use sage and it seemed to give me some calmness. After reading this I am more educated and have a few notes taken from it to help me clear out the negative energy! If you are interested or just starting out with it this is a great book to read!

This book came along just when I really needed it. I was really down. We all have negative and positive energy. As the author states, it is all from the Divine. When we feel really down, there are different ways to clear energy. Looking at everything that holds us down is one step to bringing it back in focus and to get your blessings back. There is a section on keeping a journal and I highly recommend it. It worked for me. This book was a blessing in its self. I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review.
