Bestselling and award-winning author Kathleen Fuller returns to the Amish community of Birch Creek in this charming tale of falling in love while pursuing the dreams of your heart.

Having grown up in poverty, Seth Yoder refuses to be financially insecure again. His passion is woodcarving, but he’s vowed to work on his father’s successful farm, even though his heart is in his craft. Splitting his time between farming and his secret hobby keeps him busy—too busy for social activities.

Martha Detweiler has a different problem—she’s the only single woman in a community full of young men, and they’re all competing for her favor.  All of them . . . except Seth Yoder. Overwhelmed by the unwanted attention, she finds herself constantly fleeing from them, and that isn’t the way she wants to live her life.

When Cevilla Schlabach, Birch Creek’s resident matchmaker, hears of Martha’s predicament, she believes she has the answer—convince Seth to give the impression that he and Martha are dating. Both Martha and Seth think this is a terrible idea, but Cevilla doesn’t let go of something once she gets it in her head. And when Delilah Stoll, a new resident of Birch Creek, eyes Seth as the perfect man for her granddaughter, Nina, Cevilla digs in her heels.

Can Seth and Martha convince their family and friends to leave them alone? Or will their struggles against a community that seems to have decided both their fates bring them closer together?

An Amish romance that feels more realistic than the typical in this genre. The characters bring novelty, and a few even provide a bit of invigorating spice with their meddlesome tendencies and overbearing traits. Despite these conspicuous characters, I didn't find this to be as engaging as book one in the series, but I did like the depth of the messages contained within.

The story revolves around finding the one you're meant to spend life with. Others, like say a well-intentioned family member, may have a narrow and authoritarian view of relationships and the right way and time in in life to be pursuing such. Being pursued by many doesn't mean any of them are the right one for an individual. Getting to know someone over time, reflecting on their character and personality and your own too, will make a well-suited match that can stand the test of time.

There's also a secondary theme of acknowledging your true self and where you're meant to be. Communication and honesty should prevail, and saying and doing the hard things is imperative. Don't keep secrets as they only entangle, even when at first they seem to ease the burden and stress. Work to resolve problems with a level of independence, instead of putting them on someone else.

Kathleen Fuller writes a novel in which the messages and themes present themselves in complementary characters and circumstances. She communicates truths everyone can acknowledge and reflect on, and does so in a way that you don't realize that she is talking to you too as you follow the characters' development. A good book to learn and grow from with lessons that can always stand to be repeated.

Martha Detweiler is the only single woman in her community of Birch Creek, so she gets a lot of attention from her would-be suitors. However, Martha had an unpleasant experience in the past and is afraid to hurt somebody’s feelings unintentionally, so she would like to avoid dating for the time being. Her neighbour Cevilla comes up with a plan. Since Seth Yoder happens to be the only young man not interested in Martha, Martha and Seth should pretend to like each other romantically to discourage other young men. Both Seth and Martha reject Cevilla’s suggestion as it would be deceitful. Martha discovers eth has a hobby of woodcarving which he would like to keep secret. Although Seth’s heart is not in farming, he would not want to disappoint his family.
A new family arrives in the community. The grandmother Delilah helped her son raise her grandchildren Levi and Nina when they lost their mother. Delilah can be overbearing but she surely has their best interests at heart. Now she is set on matchmaking Seth and Nina. Since Martha is the only unmarried girl in the community, she will have to do for Levi. Delilah is quite pushy, and Seth and Martha find themselves doing exactly the same thing they hadn’t wanted to do before- pretending they like each other. But are they really pretending? Is Martha’s interest in woodcarving of a passing nature? Will Martha stop being economical with the truth and come clean to her parents about the true nature of her relationship and her feelings for Seth? And will Delilah and Cevilla, the two resident matchmakers, become friends despite their different life experiences? All these questions kept me turning pages until I finished the book in one sitting.
I really enjoyed this light-hearted humourous story which raises the serious question of entering a dating relationship freely and responsibly.
This was my first book in the series but I will definitely be checking out the other titles.

Seth Yoder's family owns a farm in Wisconsin, he’s the eldest son and his responsibility is to work alongside his father. Seth likes to create items out of wood, he has a secret workshop and he’s not very social.

Martha Detweiler is the only single woman in the Amish town of Birch Creek and all the men are trying to court her. She actually feels under pressure to get married, she has been known to hide at social gatherings, and she enjoys working part time in her uncle’s optics shop.

Cevilla Schlabach is the local matchmaker, when she hears about Martha’s problem, she believes the solution would be for Martha and Seth to pretend their dating. They think it’s a terrible idea, Seth discovers Martha’s interested in woodwork, and they have a lot in common. Despite being perfect for each other Martha and Seth are both in denial, when a tragic accident happens, it makes them look at what they want out of life, Seth might be happy to be a farmer after all and with a wife by his side.

The Farmer's Bride is a sweet Amish romance by Kathleen Fuller, I love reading a nice story, with no shocks in the plot, thanks to NetGalley for my copy, and four stars from me.

I'm loving this series! There are several elements to this story that develop and weave together- Martha and Seth's fake romance turned real, the secret woodworking they share, Cevilla's perspective and her relationship with a non-Amish man, and Seth's growth as he begins to enjoy the work of the farm. The friendship between Seth and Martha is so sweet and I loved the way they get to know each other and love blossoms. There are some heartbreaking twists in the story along the way but the themes of faith and reliance on God keep the overall tone more heartwarming as the characters struggle to make sense of their circumstances.

I loved this Amish book! I so enjoy this author and so I was sure that would be the case once more and it was! So happy to have been able to read this. I have to admit I missed book 1 somehow, but that's OK, I loved it and was able to get right into this book with no problems.

It was a fun read and I love a book that includes humor. The book is a page turner, which I love. Nothing slow moving here.

I highly recommend this great story. So good!!!!

Mrs. Fuller never fails her fans when she creates these amazing, real-to-life Amish stories that she fills with hope, understanding and mercy. This is the second book in her Amish Brides Of Birch Creek series, and, just like the first book, it did not disappoint! From start to finish, I loved every second of Martha and Seth's story.

Sweet Martha! Oh how I loved her! A beautiful Amish woman who just wanted to be left alone by all the single Amish men in her community. I don't blame her, though. When she meets Seth, I loved their interaction! I absolutely adored Seth! He was a wonderfully chiseled character and I could feel his emotions and feelings as if they were mine. He thought he was helping her out……..but, what was a farce, soon turned out to be much, much more.

If you are looking for a story that will warm your heart, grip your emotions and take you one a wonderful, whirlwind ride, then grab this book up now. It's a page turner that will keep you awake long into the night. This is a 4 star read that has wonderful messages woven into the story line and will be on my keeper shelf for a long time to come! Hats off and two thumbs up to the talent that is known as Kathleen Fuller.

Martha has found herself in a position where she is the only maiden in the community and is being sought by nearly every young man. she however just wants to be left alone. Not that she is averse to marriage but she feels hounded.
Seth has a secret hobby and wishes he can find time away from the family business to do what he really wants to do.
Throw in Cevilla with her wild ideas and matchmaking plans. Throw in another elderly woman Delilah who wants Setha and Martha for her grandchildren and you have a bubbling pot of conflict which is always a plus for a story
This was well written. The characters were memorable.
However I cannot give this a 4 for several reasons. There was a lot going on this story and I felt it took away from the story of Martha and Seth. For one, in the beginning, I was more intruigued by Cevilla and her long Non Amish love Richard than I was in Martha. And then I was tired of Martha's continual lies and subterfuge because she was not really sorry about them as a Christian. She was merely sorry she hurt her family. I mean this is a christian book.
I loved that the author showed that we can grow to love what we thought we hated if we gave it time. And that the fact that we love something does not mean we have the talent for it. But that does not stop us from enjoying it. Practice does not make us perfect., it only produces the perfect version of ourselves.
Thanks to Zondervan and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this novel. This is my honest opinion.

I am always so excited to go back to visit Birch Creek every book gets better and better.
The author really understands the Amish way of life as it's evident in her writing.
The Birch Creek characters are like revisiting old friends and meeting new ones in each book.
This is the second book in the series, I somehow missed the first but will be reading it soon. The author gives us backstory so we are all caught up going into this book.
Martha Detweiler is the only single woman in her community full of men. They all want her attention which she tries to escape every time, all except for the one she is interested in, Seth Yoder.
Seth Yoder has a passion for woodcarving but his father expects him to take over and run the family farm.
His secret hobby keeps him too busy for a social life but will he stop due to his father's expectations of him? Infused with humor, when Cevilla Schlabach gets a matchmaking idea, watch out !
Will her plan help or hinder this couple?
I highly recommend this book! So good!

Sweet and fun...and complicated. I laughed and cringed and rolled my eyes and had my tender heart prodded a time or two.

This is the second book in Fuller's Amish Brides of Birch Creek series though it reads very well as a standalone. However, fans of the series will be thrilled to join Cevilla in her latest plotting. Love her aged wisdom and feisty nature. And she can juggle subtle and not-so-subtle to meet any matchmaking occasion. What a riot!

Martha's desperate buwe problem is such a switch for this kind of romantic comedy. Had me grinning and wincing and feeling almost as panic-stricken as she did. And Seth's indifference makes him the perfect player in a bit of skillful subterfuge..until it gets out of hand.

A wonderful cast of secondary characters bring this community to life as the author treats us with multiple viewpoints and subplots that add to all the drama and hijinks. These are the kind of characters you don't want to say goodbye to. I'm really looking forward to the third book in this series -- The Innkeeper's Bride -- releasing in January.

Being the only single young woman in the community, Martha attracted the unwanted attention of too many young men. Literally fleeing for some time alone in the woods, she stumbled upon an old shed and another young man inside the shed. Seth was carving wood, and Martha was captivated by the activity. Before long, she was creating her own wood carvings and plaques. Though they had this activity in common, nothing romantic between them was evident. But things have a way of changing, and what started as a fake relationship to save Martha from the unwanted attention of other young men began to change into something else. It’s quite an interesting tale, with engaging and life-like characters who believe that God is in charge of their lives, even when bad things happen. And unfortunate things do occur. This story illustrates quite well the strong beliefs in God and in community that the Amish hold dear to their hearts and exhibit in their daily life.

Another fun romance with some serious aspects in a series I wish would never end - I love Birch Creek and hope Fuller just keeps them coming. I was laughing on page one, with Martha's 'man troubles,' and the ensuing hilarity that follows as she wrestles with what other girls might find a perfect situation - too many suitors.

I am wondering if there is room enough in Birch Creek for two matchmakers, with Delilah's arrival - Cevilla certainly has a handle on the situation and won't be stopping her efforts anytime soon (in spite of promising otherwise).

I loved being back in Birch Creek, and back with old friends, this being the second book in the series, and the author gives us updates, so you won’t be lost starting with this read, but the first was equally good!
From beginning to end we are with Martha, and her man problems, when all the men seem to want her, but the one she wants.
We also see Cevilla meet her match with newcomer Delilah, and wonder if these two will ever live their faith, much less become friends.
A really sweet read, that will keep you page-turning, and now I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

This one is the story of Martha and Seth. There are characters from the other Birch Creek stories in this one, too. It was nice to see what they are doing now. I liked Martha, but it took a little while for me to warm up to him. Seth's story was more interesting, but I liked the growth of both characters. The ending was a happy one, and I am looking forward to the next book. I am curious to see what happens to a couple of characters.

A fun story of a single Amish woman being pursued by a group of single Amish men in Birch Creek. What a problem to have but Martha Detweiler is not interested in any of them. A couple of grandmotherly types think matchmaking is the solution, but that does lead to trouble. Will Martha’s scheme to throw everyone off by faking a romantic interest in Seth Yoder backfire? This is a stand-alone book. Although one confusing thing were characters that popped in whose names, I didn’t recognize that I assumed were in the first book in the series. Therefore, I would recommend reading them in order. The lessons learned are valuable to all of us. A fun story with a delightful ending. Enjoy!

This is in a trilogy of 3 other books by the same author, and I enjoyed reading about Martha and her problems with courtship. It seems she is the only woman in her age group, so all of the guys are asking her out. She is not interested in any of them, there’s only one person she’s interested in and his name is Seth. He does not seem to be interested in her. In order for her to escape the other guys’ attention, she and Seth decide to pretend to like each other. Some of the characters in the book were in the other books in the trilogy, and I enjoyed reading how their lives were progressing.

The Farmer’s Bride is a fun, enjoyable Amish fiction novel. Kathleen Fuller tells the story of Martha Detweiler who tries to escape attention from numerous young men hoping to be a possible suitor for her. Another resident comes up with the perfect plan...Martha and Seth Yoder can appear to be dating to ward off other potential suitors. What could go wrong with that idea?! This is an entertaining story with well developed characters that was a little slow paced at times. I recommend this book to fans of Amish fiction.

It was cute...but very predictable.

I thought Martha was a little dramatic in the beginning (running as soon as the boys approached her house?). Maybe if we would have seen more about how they kept coming to her I would feel differently, but not as it's currently written.

The ending felt unfinished between the other two characters we saw (Liam and Nina I think). I'm assuming their story may be next but if that's the case I think too much was shared in this one).

The Farmer’s Bride mini-review:

3.5 stars ✨ (rounded down to 3 on Goodreads)

“The Farmer’s Bride” by Kathleen Fuller wasn’t bad, but I didn’t love it either. This is the first Amish book I’ve ever read, so while I don’t have much to compare it to, I found it okay. I was expecting it to be a little more “Little House in the Prairie” style, since I don’t know anything about Amish people, but it was nothing like that. There were fridges, stoves, — phones even! Again, I have no idea if this is the norm in Amish communities, it’s just not what I expected. The book’s plot was interesting enough if a bit slow. The fake-dating didn’t kick in until halfway through, but it kept me interested in what happened next, and I finished it pretty quickly. I did feel a bit lost when it came to the reason Martha was so scared of relationships. I felt like her past relationship with Paul and how it ended is something I should have already known about, since it’s quite important to understanding her character and her motivations. However, I suppose this is what I get for starting with the second book in the series!
The characters were interesting too, even if they were a bit annoying sometimes. I can’t stand meddling people or pushovers! I couldn’t really relate to them very much (Again, amish) so that’s probably a big reason why they were driving me crazy. I did, however, enjoy their growth throughout the book. While it felt kind of sudden for some characters (Talk about a 180 shift!) it was sweet and natural for others, which I loved. I also wasn’t expecting so many POV’s, but it was fun and gave me some added insight into what people were thinking and why they acted the way they did.
The romance felt a bit too… heavy, at times. Nothing actually happened, but all the noticing muscles and nearness and her eyes and his hair, etc. etc. made me a bit uncomfortable. Like, I’m glad y’all like each other, but I really don’t care about his muscles or her eyes… Move on! I was rooting for the characters and the ending was lovely, but they weren’t the smartest people sometimes and, at times, I wasn’t even sure whether I wanted them to end up together or not. Personally, stole the show for me. They were so cute together!! I totally called it and was rooting for them the whole time! 🩷
As for content warnings, the only relevant one (in addition to the ones mentioned in the romance part) are lying. A LOT of lying. They do feel super guilty about It (Seth totally freaks when he found out about the web of lies they’d woven…), but that was their only consequence. Their guilt. To be honest, I don’t think that was enough. Lying can seriously hurt people, but they got away almost Scott free, guilt or not. I definitely wouldn’t classify this book as Christian, the only Christian thing about is that they go to church like, once. Oh, and Martha prays a couple of times. God never played an active influence in their life. They’re guilt about lying had nothing to do with God, but rather disappointing their families. While the book wasn’t marketed as Christian, I was a bit disappointed by this, as I feel the author had many opportunities to at least make their faith seem authentic. For all that Richard needed to convert to the Amish faith on order to marry Cevilla, I never saw much evidence of this faith being genuine or authentic, instead it appeared to be from the mouth out. I can’t claim to be in their head or know whether their faith was genuine, but I’d have liked to see it reflected in their daily lives a bit more. Of course, the book never claimed to be anything but, it’s just something I would have personally liked to see.
In conclusion, while I did enjoy parts of the book, most of it wasn’t that interesting to me. It wasn’t what I was expecting, and while it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t my style. I probably won’t be continuing the series.

⚠️ CW ⚠️:
- ❤️ Clean
- 1 kiss
- Noticing (Nearness, muscles, curves, eyes, etc.)
- Lying (and guilt)
- Light suggestions of blackmail (doesn’t happen, she’s as guilty as if she’d been caught stealing the Hope diamond…)

Tropes:
👩‍❤️‍👨 Fake-dating
👒 Amish community
👵🏼 Meddling Grandmothers
💜 Strangers to friends to more
🙄 Miscommunication

Martha ran in the house and slammed the door and her mother asked what was going on. Martha said Ruby was having a scavenger hunt this Saturday and Then there was five men headed for her parents house to ask her to go to the scavenger hunt with them, her mother said go and Martha ran out the back door and cut through backyards heading to Cevilla’s house. She was cutting through a backyard of house that had been vacant since martha and her parents had moved to Birch Creek two years ago. But as she went through the backyard she seen a person come out the back door. Martha stopped to catch her breath before continuing on to Cevilla’s house. There had to be a better way to avoid the single men of Birch creek as she was now the only single young woman in a district with a lot of single men. She couldn’t go anywhere except maybe work without at least one man asking her for a date. She wanted a simple life. Cevella said she would have have to go out with Seth and the other young men would leave her alone. Martha said Seth hadn’t asked her out. Seth hated farming and his secret passion was wood carving. Seth had brought some jam to Cevella and she mentioned he needed to make appear that he and Martha had Seth said no and Cevella knew the seed was planted in his mind. Loren and his family had bought the house that had been vacant. He wants to turn it into a inn. Loren was a widower and he had his mother-Delilah- and son- Levi- and daughter Nina-22- live with him. He hoped the open the inn in four months. Nina’s grandmother had been trying to mold her into a respectable Amish woman for years. That hadn’t worked out very well. Seth came into Martha’s uncle’s shop to have his mom’s clock fixed. That was all he obviously was going along with Plan B. Martha wished she had never said anything to Cevella or her mom. Martha had to do something about her problem and she would stay away from anu social events until she had a solution and Martha wondered why she couldn’t just say no . Martha had to set the single men straight but Paul’s words came to her mind -”You ruined my life.” Seth was in the shop- in a she d in the middle of the woods. -than someone rushed in and shut the door and it was Martha. She said she didn’t think anyone was there and said she had been running from all the men. Seth was working on bettering his woodworking and agrees to teach Martha. Seth was going by when he seen Nina being stung by wasps and he pulls her away and her grandmother discovers what had happened and sees Seth had gotten stung above his eye and she decides Seth would make a good husband for Nina. Delilah also thinks Martha would be a good girl for Levi to look at as a future wife. Seth and Martha don’t want to be courting or married right now so they decide to make people think they are interested in each other but really aren’t.
I really liked this book . It was a light hearted sweet romance novel. This novel shows the Amish faith and beliefs. I loved the plot and the pace. I didn’t want to put this down to see what would happen next. This caught my attention right away and kept in until the end. .I chuckled at times while reading this book. I read this in one setting . I wish I could arte this a 4.5. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.

The Farmer’s Bride by Kathleen Fuller returns readers to Birch Creek. The Yoder’s family finances have improved since Freeman became the bishop, but Seth Yoder remembers the hard times the family suffered, and it is something he never wishes to experience again. He works the family farm alongside his father and brothers, but his true passion is woodcarving. He has a secret shed in the woods where he spends all his spare time working on improving his craft. Martha Detweiler is the only single woman left in their small community which has the single men pursuing her with date requests. Martha finds it overwhelming and, when the men descend on her home to ask her to Ruby’s scavenger hunt, Martha escapes to seek refuge at Cevilla Schlabach’s. Cevilla comes up with what she calls “Plan B” which requires the assistance of Seth Yoder, the only man not clamoring after Martha. She believes the pair should pretend they are dating which Cevilla hopes will lead to a permanent match. But then Delilah Stoll moves to town with her son, grandson and granddaughter. Delilah wants her grandchildren to be happy which equates to marrying them off to Martha and Seth. This puts a crimp in Cevilla’s plans and she is not about to be thwarted by the newcomer. Martha and Seth now face a new dilemma and Plan B is looking like a good option. Will the young people be able to outwit the matchmakers? What does God have in store for them?

The Farmer’s Bride is the second delightful book in An Amish Brides of Birch Creek series. I recommend reading The Teacher’s Bride first. It gives you the backstory on Cevilla and Richard, the town and how Chris and Ruby came to be together. I thought The Farmer’s Bride was well-written (as are all of Kathleen Fuller’s books) and it proceeded at a steady pace. It has charming characters and a lovely setting (I would like to live in Birch Creek). I thought the characters were realistic and I could feel their emotions plus their struggles. Cevilla Schlabach is a hoot. She gets an idea into her head and there is no stopping her. Richard is the perfect companion for Cevilla, and his comments are humorous. It will be interesting to see if Richard can give up his modern conveniences. Cevilla meets her match when Delilah Stoll moves to town. Delilah is a determined woman who steamrolls over anyone who gets in the way of her goal. Delilah and Cevilla butting heads had me chuckling. I liked how Martha enjoyed learning new things (like tying nautical knots) and working on puzzles. I completely agreed with the comment “There’s something gratifying about completing a challenge”. I had to smile when I heard soda referred to as “pop”. I had not heard that phrase since I lived in Ohio (I got teased for using it when I first moved to Florida). It was hot in Birch Creek (like it currently is in Florida) and I could relate to Cevilla saying it is “hotter than a pat of butter melting in a frying pan”. The Christian elements are beautifully incorporated into the story with emphasis on having a strong faith, relying on God, forgiveness of others and oneself, and the importance of prayer. The Farmer’s Bride is an amusing Amish tale that I did not want to end (but then I was eager to see how it ended). I am impatiently waiting for the release of the next An Amish Brides of Birch Creek Novel to revisit Birch Creek and see what is in store for Selah Ropp.

The Farmer's Bride by Kathleen Fuller is a delightfully heartwarming Amish romance. Although this latest release is the second installment in the Amish Brides of Birch Creek, it can be  read as a standalone.

Martha Detweiler has zero interest in a romance. Her last relationship ended badly and she has yet to recover from the emotional scars. As the only single woman in Birch Creek, she is actively pursued by the single men in the community. Fearing hurting their feelings, Martha instead runs from conflict.  A discussion with local matchmaker Cevilla Schlabach leads to a bit of an unusual remedy for Martha's situation. But will Seth Yoder agree to a pretend romance to help Martha escape the unwanted attention?

Seth works hard on his family's farm but he would rather be woodworking than planting crops. But he is an obedient young man who remembers all too well the family's financial struggles before their farm became so prosperous. Seth reluctantly agrees to help Martha, but he soon feels guilty participating in such a duplicitous scheme. He is unexpectedly drawn to Martha but is Seth willing to turn their pretend romance into a real relationship?

Martha is surprised by how much she enjoys Seth's company but she too feels a great deal of remorse for deceiving everyone.  Just as they are about to reveal the truth, their situation soon becomes even more complicated when newcomer Delilah Stoll decides Martha would be the perfect match for her grandson, Levi.  She is also certain that Seth is the perfect man for her granddaughter, Nina. Further difficulties ensue when Delilah and Cevilla clash right from their first introduction.

Martha and Seth's paths have crossed several times in the past, but it is not until their pretend romance they begin to see another in a different light. Despite their unanticipated interest in each other, they know they cannot continue to deceive their loved ones. But will revealing the truth mean the end of their chance for a future together?

The Farmer's Bride is an endearing Amish romance with a wonderful cast of charming characters. Martha and Seth are wonderfully developed characters who are perfect for one another. The romantic aspect of the storyline is understated but Seth and Martha's feelings for one another ring true.  With valuable lessons about trust and forgiveness, Kathleen Fuller brings this marvelous novel to a heartfelt conclusion. This newest addition to the Amish Brides of Birch Creek series is an engaging  romance that is sure to delight readers of Amish fiction.

Kathleen Fuller's newest release, The Farmer's Bride is a must-read! This story is part of An Amish Brides of Birch Creek series.
Martha Detweiler and Seth Yoder were meant to be together, at least that's what Martha's elderly neighbor Cevilla suggests. Cevilla is determined to put her matchmaking skills to the test! Meanwhile, Martha is trying to dodge the attention from all of the other men in her community since she is the only available young Amish woman. That all changes though when the Stoll family moves to Birch Creek from Wisconsin. You will definitely want to read this book as the entire story unfolds.
Kathleen Fuller does a great job of bringing the characters to life. You will feel like you are right there with them in beautiful Birch Creek, Ohio. They experience circumstances that we can all relate to including anger, guilt, frustration, love and faith. A sweet story that I definitely recommend reading!
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley and have given my honest opinion.

Martha has a problem. She knows she should be thinking about finding a husband and she's ready for that, but she feels pressured from the young men in her community. She wants to find her match on her own terms, but things seem to keep getting in her way.

Seth is also not ready to find a spouse. He is more interested in his wood carving that he's trying to perfect to maybe go into business. He is also dealing with some family issues that I won't go into. I don't want to give too much away. He's just in a place in his life where he doesn't have time nor or the desire to settle down.

A new family arrives in town to start an inn. Loren, Delilah (Loren's mom), Nina (Loren's daughter) and Levi (Loren's son) all live together and start working on the business and building a new life in Birch Creek. Delilah immediately wants to set up Nina and Levi with possible spouses. Delilah thinks Nina should start a relationship with Seth and that Martha might be good match for Martha. But, Martha isn't ready to be attached to Levi and Nina isn't ready to be hooked up with Seth. So, Martha and Seth hatch a plan. If they can just put the idea out there that they are interested in each other, even though they aren't, it may just keep everyone off their backs. What could go wrong?

So great when you get a book and find out it's part of a series. Am I right? The Farmer's Bride is the second book after The Teacher's Bride. Now, you don't have to read the first one, but, personally, I recommend it. I enjoyed seeing appearances by characters in this book that I knew from the first.

I enjoyed this book so much. I loved the story, the dialogue, the characters and the writing style. Honestly, I think it would be a great movie. Comes out June 4th. Get your copy then! Thank you so much to the author!

Some women might enjoy being the only single woman in their community and having several young men pursuing them but Martha Detweiler isn't one of those women. She knows that she needs to be thinking about marriage but this isn't the way she wants to get a husband. Seth Yoder is the only bachelor in Birch Creek who isn't after Martha and he feels no need to claim a wife. At the suggestion of a beloved older member of the Amish community Martha and Seth begin a little deception: they will act like they're seeing each other and then, finally, they will have some peace!

I liked the characters of Martha and Seth and I am especially glad to re-visit Cevilla and Richard , the two older people that we first met in A Chance to Remember, the novella that Kathleen Fuller penned for An Amish Reunion. Cevilla and Richard now admit to being in love but they still face the hurdle of Cevilla being Amish and Richard being an "Englisher".

This is a fun story but it is has serious moments also. Seth yearns to make a living with his wood carvings but he feels obligated to help on his family's farm. Martha also enjoys creating beautiful objects from wood and she and Seth take pleasure in having this is common. Soon, Martha realizes that Cevilla's Plan B isn't as far-fetched as she believed because she is actually beginning to have feelings for Seth. The Farmer's Bride shows that we never know what is waiting around the bend and we should never close our minds (and hearts) to the possibility of love.

You will definitely want to read The Farmer's Bride if you enjoy stories about the Amish way of life and if you believe that romance can occur at any time of life. I truly enjoyed this book.

I received a complimentary copy from the author but a positive review was not required.

Martha is the only single young lady in her community with plenty of attention . Unwanted attention she isn't interested . She goes to Cevilla to seek assistance on how to tell these men she doesn't want to date any of them. She has been hurt before and doesn't want to be hurt again. Her friend has set up a scavenger hunt and she attends just to run away from the guys again. She finds a little building in the woods and goes in to hide. This is where she find Seth the bishops son. He has been hiding the fact he comes here to do woodworking. His family has a farm and works the farm with the bishop and his brothers. They are both interested in woodworking and make a plan . He will teach her wood working and against his better judgement agrees to pretend to be in a relationship. There is a new family in town and Delilah may be have met her match in Cevilla. They are both trying to match make . Nina is Delilah's granddaughter and she would love for her to be with the bishops son. Nina is a tom boy and Seth does not interest her especially since he is with Martha. Just when he is ready to tell everyone the truth Seth finds he has feelings for Martha. Martha also has feelings for Seth. Different situations come up that keep them apart and they have to make their feelings known and work on their real feelings. Net galley and the publisher supplied me with this book for my honest review.
