All Sawyer really wants for Christmas is to be able to provide a better home for Cooper. A run-down roach motel isn’t where he wants his bubbly, always-looking-on-the-bright-side boyfriend to live. But instead, he has to settle for surprising Cooper with a second-hand present tucked under their sad Christmas sticks trying to pass for trees.

Cooper can’t imagine a more incredible Christmas. He has wonderful presents for Sawyer and an even better surprise he knows will have Sawyer bouncing around their cute little Christmas trees. With all the adventures they’ve had over the past year, Cooper knows that next year will be even better. He just needs to make sure Sawyer can see the perfection that’s just around the corner.

I'd probably appreciate this more had I read the rest of the series first (or at least the initial installment). Still whet my appetite for the next ones, though!

A cute little story about a sweet couple. It was nice to see their beginning, and, having read the whole series and knowing the characters well, it was nice to see them go from a crappy situation to a better one. And of course it was all sprinkled with Cooper-enthusiasm, and if that doesn't get you in the Christmas spirit, I don't know what will.

Cooper and Spencer may live in the same place, but they inhabit radically different worlds! Love love LOVE them both! (Even if most of us live in Spencer's world, we all need to take field trips to Cooper's!)

First Christmas

I just loved this novella of Cooper and Sawyer’s first Christmas together. It was so sweet, and I loved the gifts they gave each other. I love how much Sawyer takes care of Cooper and Cooper’s goofiness. This definitely has made me want to go for a re-read of the Accidental Master books!

This was ok...I wasn't invested in these two. I think the series may be fluffier than I was expecting?

A Christmas story to melt your heart

I have read the three books in this series before finding this prequel, so I was already introduced to Sawyer and Cooper. Sawyer is quiet and guarded and very protective of Cooper. Cooper is a never ending bright positivity that manifests as chaotic kinetic energy, laughter, and smiles. Through hardships, these two have become each other's family. Though financially poor, they are Midas-rich in love. If you are not familiar with the series this is a good, HEA, drama free intro to two amazing people. If you have read the series, this look back will make you smile and start Accidental Master all over again!

This was a hardly a prequel or even a short story.

It reads like an introduction to a new series and could have reallllllly just been included in the first book as the beginning chapters.

Seperating this out and calling it a short story just doesnt work.

It wasnt interesting, there's barely the beginning of a plot and the introduction of the characters.

Overall, it wasn't totally unpleasant. Its a good introduction to a new series but this doesn't qualify at all to be called even a short story. Maybe think of this as chapter 1 of the first book in the series before the meat of the story starts.

I love this author. I love this series, so I am totally biased in this review.

Great introduction to the pups. Character building made sense. Nothing that happens in this prequel goes against the series, quite the opposite.

Reading this makes me want a novella of what happens after the last page.

Also, if you read any of the author’s other books (and you should)
you will read about these guys in it.

The author does an amazing, A+, job of making books about love first and foremost. Read it and your mood will lift.

BFFs since primary school and lovers since adolescence, it’s Sawyer and Cooper against the world. They’ve always had each other’s backs. Cooper is bouncy and playful with low impulse control; Sawyer is responsible and thoughtful, a classic over-thinker. They’re looking for a third person to complete them, someone to whom they can both surrender control, a master to train and look after the two lost puppies. I loved this prequel, it’s a poignant, intimate view of the two young men as they make the best of their circumstances and dream of a life less difficult and sets us up for the three subsequent novels. Strong audio narration by Kenneth Obi.

Adorable!

I read the other three books of the series before I read this novella and I loved them so I knew this would be great. I awwed out loud reading this. I just adore Cooper, he's so happy and upbeat you can't help but love him and this was no different. If you're having a bad day read this because Cooper's always positive attitude will cheer you right up. I loved reading about the beginning for the guys and you will too!

The Sweetest Prequel!

I love Cooper and Sawyer! Getting to see this peek into their lives before meeting Jackson was so special, because you know that wonderful life is just waiting for them. Cooper's optimism is so much fun to witness, and I wanted to give Sawyer a big hug and tell him not to worry because it will all work out. And of course now I need to re-read Accidental Master!

A perfect prequel

Sawyer and Cooper have their first Christmas together! Loved to see Cooper his excitable self. Believing in their future and his beginning at the coffee shop. And Sawyer typically worrying but also loving Cooper and beginning to learn about himself.
Family together. Just perfect!

It's Cooper and Sawyer's first Christmas together. They don't have much but they have each other. You can feel the love and sweetness they feel for each other.

"You're insane."
He shrugged. "You always seem surprised when you say that, but you love me know matter what, so it doesn't matter."

I really loved this prequel. It's adorable. I highly recommend this and the rest of the series.

I decided to start this series at the very beginning and I’m so glad that I did! This was great introduction to Sawyer and Cooper! I hate the struggles that they are going through, but I’m glad that they have each other and that things are starting to look up for them!! I can’t wait to dive deeper into this series!!

Perfect

This is a brilliant prequal to the rest of the series, but only really makes sense if you have read the other stories and know the background. As a little Xmas teaser from some favourite characters it is sweet, slightly sad, and cheeky as Cooper has to be.

I love Cooper and Sawyer. This is the sweet tale of their first Christmas together, and it was nice to see them both begin to come into their own. The perfect prequel to The Accidental Master trilogy.

Having read the first book of the series I loved this peek backward into the life of Cooper and Sawyer before meeting Jackson. You get to see just how much hope they had and how hard they were willing to work to turn their struggles into something better.

Great prequel

I previously read the Master series, so I was familiar with the characters already. I fell more in love with Sawyer and I already thought he was pretty terrific. In some ways I wish I’d read this first because it gives so much context to their journey.

The one and only story I have read from this author and I did not regret it. It was beautifully written and I enjoyed the characters and the backgrounds for each of them. It was cute and adorable and a quirky short Christmas story. I would be interested more in this series.

Too cute

The world could use a lot more Coopers, that’s for sure. His bright optimism is refreshing and he was a true joy to read.

Poor Sawyer with a worry wort heart of gold. Those two are perfect together.

A short story that is a perfect prequel to the Accidental Master series. I love Cooper and Sawyer, they're both very sweet and this Christmas story, though too short, is quite beautiful.
