More average fare from the 2018 Deadpool creative team. Writer Skottie Young fails to move Deadpool from this muddling middling monotonous ground; this could have been so much better. Anyhows- Three one-off averagely comedic tales are followed the main event 'Good Night' where things seem to be going against Deadpool and it appears that someone from his past is out for revenge. There are some cool old faces, including a nice team up. Could be better. Could be funnier. 6.5 out of 12, Three Star read.

"If he kills you, I'll still be right here to shoot him, so I'll totally avenge your death or whatever"

Another day, another set of jobs. This volume sees Deadpool hired to kill Santa Claus and a pig who uses a theme park as a drug operation, go on a journey to find his missing heart, and take on the mysterious Good Night who keeps stealing his kills

Young is back with slightly better stories this time. Perhaps I feel slightly overloaded with Deadpool having just read the previous instalment, but I am starting to feel that Deadpool's personality alone is no longer enough to carry a narrative. Fortunately, unlike with the first volume, most of these stories are somewhat memorable and well done. Whilst it still isn't the world's best storytelling or the most original ideas, there's a lot of fun to be had. The Good Night storyline earns particular praise as it seems to be the most thought out of the bunch with an attempt at emotional weight. Good for a quick read, especially if you're a fan of the character.

That's more like it.

This volume is a tale of two halves. The first three issues are some more one-and-done issues in the same vein as volume one. These are pretty fun, if a bit wrote at this point. The Christmas issue is a bit too over the top, even for Deadpool, but the thinly veiled Disney pastiche is funny, and even manages to reintroduce Deadpool's daughter for a moment. The real gem of this half of the volume is issue 9 however, which is a film noir pastiche that ropes Jessica Jones into Wade's world as they attempt to find his disembodied heart. This is probably the most Deadpool this run has ever felt, and Nic Klein's art in this issue is especially good, really giving the noir atmosphere.

Then we get the titular Good Night story, which finally seems to show that Skottie Young is plotting something bigger than we thought. Good Night himself isn't that interesting, but his ties to Deadpool and the rest of his supporting cast show that there's some potential on the horizon. There's not a lot to be mined from Batman piss-takes at this point, but I definitely want to know what's going on now, so I'd call this one a win overall. Scott Hepburn returns for these three issues and fits Wade's world perfectly - his boneless Deadpool suit flapping in the wind is equal parts disturbing and genius.

Deadpool's a hard one to get a gauge on recently, but this volume seems to be a turning point. Let's see if Skottie can pull off the big finale next time around.

Continue to surprise myself with how enjoyable these books are. Me, who normally doesn’t really go for superhero comics. Then again, this gabby Merc is about as nonconventional as superheroes get. Not even all that heroic, just superpowered. Selling skills to anyone who can afford them. Any age, any species.
Volume two collects three standalone tales: a charming holiday ditty, a noir tale featuring Jessica Jones (and tangentially Daredevil), an amusement park rivalry setup; and then a three story arc featuring a villain named Good Night (with a Dark Knight rip-off of an origin story) who has a Jupiter size grudge against the hired gun never found a wrong moment to tell a joke.
All in all, lots of fun, Especially the first three. Well drawn too. Recommended.

It was cool.. I liked it.. most of the time.

Artwork is great, coloring is awesome. Story is fun at times!

Sometimes it feels forced, like having Negasonic over there, is meh... but the fun park with Silly Seal and whatnot was fun! Also the Good Night story is great too!

Man lernt immer etwas Neues kennen.

Ehrlich gesagt nichts.

Ah Deadpool... I've missed reading these comics. Always great for a laugh.
This Volume has some great individual issues, but there is an overarching story that carries into the next Volume. Highlights:
- Santa doesn't deliver presents so kids hire Deadpool to kill Santa. True culprit? Tinsel the elf lead an uprising to take elves to work for Roxxon. Wade takes care of it, then plays Santa while the old man gets his health back.
- Silly Seal hires Deadpool to kill Zaggy Pig, brother of Ziggy Pig, who is using Ziggy's theme park to run drugs. This story is hilarious, but also somewhat sad as Ellie (Deadpool's daughter who he doesn't remember) plays a role in the tale.
- When someone steals Deadpool's heart right out of his chest, Wade hires Jessica Jones to help him find it. Culprit? Weasel, who apparently wants to make Wade's life a living hell.
- Someone keeps stealing Deadpool's jobs. New vigilante Good Night has a grudge against Wade... and is the perfect brute to be controlled by Weasel.

Can't wait till the next Volume! Why is Mephisto involved??
What can I say... Deadpool is usually always a good comic to read. Recommend.

The start of this was very interesting with the Skinny Santa in pee-stained underwear....then the new villain named Good Night. I was hoping for a better story from Young, but it is what it is.

Skittle Young brings his manic writing skills to the Good Night volume of Deadpool. The opening three stories are stand alone tales, each one hitting nostalgic notes. The first sees Wade Wilson hired to track down Santa for not delivering presents - only to find a slave-driving elf had instead monopolized the North Pole work force. The second has classic character Silly Seal trying to get even with the drug-running Zaggy Pig and rescue his theme park. Finally, Deadpool must hire Jessica Jones to help him locate his heart - which was literally turn out of his chest. The remainder of the volume focuses on new character Good Night. This pastiche of Batman has made it his mission to get revenge on the Merc with a Mouth for killing his parents as a young boy. Turned into the ultimate fighter, Good Night nearly kills Deadpool. However, he is revealed to be but a pawn in a larger scheme designed to rip DP’s world apart. This volume is a mixture of stories and styles that make for a roller coaster of a read. The dark and moody Santa tale and Zaggy Pig fight would have held up better under Skottie Young’s pencils instead of Nic Klein’s more realistic designs. Young and Klein do their best collaboration in the noir story of heart thievery, but it still feels like Young should be handling both art and story chores himself. The more animated art from Scott Hepburn feels more in line with Young during the Good Night arc, but does not quite hit the author’s signature lunacy. Deadpool: Good Night fails to live up to the premise of sweet dreams for fans of the Marvel character.

So the thing Young was building to was a fight with Frank Miller Mueller? and I guess the reveal of who is controlling him. I still do not really get the point. The send up of Frank Miller is mostly only there in art style not writing, aside from the hard push of some Batman references. I can kind of see that Young thought this was a good way to tie some of the threads from the previous 9 issues together, but to what end? He missed the moralizing point of Miller's style even though he had set up some of the building blocks for it.

Before the Miller stuff, I was convinced Young hated Deadpool and was auditioning himself for 9 other books since every issue was a pointless crossover with a different hero (is santa a hero? when does his book come out?).

I guess the Miller stuff was okay enough to say you could read this if you have nothing better to do, and you do not care if there is any real payoff. The only thing I am sticking around to see is how the eventual daughter/amnesia storyline resolves.

Wade saves Cristmas! Yay! All he has to do is fight Santa and kill his head elf. Christmas is merry again!

Silly Seal World has an issue with Zaggy the drug-running pig. The mission fails because Deadpool's daughter - whom he can't remember anything about - botches it. She doesn't want him to be an assassin.

Valentine's Day has Deadpool's heart stolen. Literally. Jessica Jones helps him recover it. This one-shot is the funniest, but that isn't saying much.

A vigilante who calls himself Good Night is stealing Wade's jobs. Wade sets up a trap for him, but it backfires. Good Night was the kid whose parents Wade killed right in front of him. So he's Batman, but on steroids. He doesn't shy away from killing or removing Wade's skeleton from his body.

Enjoyed this title very much and def like Skottie Youngs Deadpool run

Don't know why people hate on the Skottie Young runs of Deadpool. I know some people like Duggans more but I definitely think they are both very good. I like his use of Megasonic Teenage Warhead and that he points out stuff like her under utilization in Deadpool 2 the movie, or the Duggan thing. Like the art, like the stories so far and yes they are out there but that's Deadpool. It doesn't take itself too seriously but is serious when it comes to violence and when it needs to be. Overall good story, very good drawing and color and inking. Really enjoyed the dialogue with himself and others and us so I can't wait to start volume 3 of this run.

This second volume of the Skottie Young run on Deadpool continues to play on the whole supernatural angle in things, which is an interesting turn for Deadpool. Sure the odd issue or two included in this volume acts as standalone adventures such as Deadpool being hired to take out Santa Claus or the noir-style team-up with Jessica Jones as the look for Deadpool's missing heart.

The major arc ties to the unusual Batman-style anti-hero that is Good Might who was created due to Mephisto's influence for various reasons. It's all to pit Good Night against Deadpool, which feels a little out of place for the character but I can generally go with it given the inertia of the whole series.

The second volume picks up & truly makes up for what the first volume of the 2018 Skottie Young run struggled to do. The writing style has improved as the author has gotten more comfortable with the character(?) & The cliff hanger at the end of this volume isn't so off the wall (for a comic book) that it makes things seem unbelievable or uninteresting. I do plan on finishing the last few issues/volume. All in all this is a solid 4 stars. It's enjoyable for what it is.

More wackiness and violence from Deadpool as he battles Santa Claus, a beloved children's character and theme park mascot, and a new merc on the scene who's stealing all DP's jobs and wants revenge, plus he teams up with Jessica Jones to find the person whole stole his heart (literally, it was ripped from his chest and might be used for nefarious purposes). The art was also enjoyable in all the stories.

This was really fun. Skottie Young is finding his groove as Deadpool's past comes back to haunt him in multiple ways. The book has some stand alone issues that were all funny and then a very entertaining tale about revenge. Young's humor is spot on and doesn't try too hard and the callback to earlier stories is great. Again, Klein and Hepburn's art fit nicely especially the final arc. Overall, exactly what you want from a Deadpool book.

At one point Deadpool breaks the fourth wall to give a commentary on Young's vs Duggan's run, sadly I agreed.

3.5 with this getting better as Young moves forward.

I liked seeing Jessica Jones and Deadpools interactions.

And Young is pulling in all the hits so I I have hope this may turn out to be a strong run.

Basically a clip show. Of clips you haven't seen before. Or really want to. They were fun I guess. Last issue in the trade was the only over-arching plot issue. It was good. Violent, and good.
