Lilly left Earth seeking adventure, and learning about aliens sounded cool. She just didn’t expect to meet any in person -- until her ship is attacked by alien pirates.
Now she’s meeting plenty of them. Scary ones who want to do very bad things to her.
Fighting for survival since childhood, Raff Vellar is more intimately familiar with knives and bloodshed than women. Then, during a trip to his home planet, a tiny human literally falls at his feet.
When he learns she’s been forced into slavery, a fierce need to protect the human overcomes him . . . A feeling that quickly turns into a deep need to keep her forever.
I had a rather short area here telling a little about me but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so... here goes. LOL. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm married happily, I met my dream guy 20 years ago, and we have 4 children. I live in Southern California and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've always been a daydreamer, and I'm a HUGE fan of books, always have been.
No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days at a time. By the time I was nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I was hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. My first book was started after I read a real bomb of a book that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best and I thought... I could do better. LOL.
I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of a few books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to try to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time. It's a dream come true.
I think Raff has had the most adventurous story of the series and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!
Raff is Cathian's cousin and obviously he is Tryleskian as well. Only as we realise he is not one hundred per cent Tryleskian. Taking a lot from his mother's biological race, his mating process is somehow different and his anatomy is completely different.
Moreover unlikely Cathian's childhood, he did not have an easy life as a kid. That was the reason that he visits G4, an unfriendly dangerous planet and his childhood home, to get his revenge. A revenge that he vowed to have. There he realises that the person he wanted to kill is not longer available and alive. Instead Raff manages to save a pretty small human girl, Lilly.
Lilly wanted to visit space, seek adventure and meet many aliens. Unfortunately alien pirates have abducted her and she was on her way as a pleasure slave, until the cat-man saves her. Raff and Lilly will try to stay alive at G4 until Vorge returns and rescue them. Perfect opportunity for some interesting mating.
The usual Scifi fluff. I liked this one better than the last one.
Raff likes to vacation on his home planet so he can exterminate the people responsible for his mother's death. This will be his last trip but he didn't expect the love of his life to literally fall at his feet.
I thought Raff stayed in character for the most part. But he does go on about how he's a man of few words except for around her... Lily is just yer average Earth girl with no sob story background. That was nice for a change. We do get to hear more about the evils of Earth's government.
Raff's story was a little better than the last one because it was lower on angst and higher in steam. It was kind of nice to relax and have this book in the background. The 4 hours made the time go by pretty quickly.
I love Laurann Dohner, I've listened to her entire sexy, hot Cyborg series! I started this series with book 4. Raff is, like all of her males in her books, a very handsome, virile, and tough alpha alien. He is a Trileskian alien, he is known to be dangerous, especially when upset. While visiting a planet for personal business. He comes across a beautiful helpless human, she is being sold as prostitute, and runs away from her captors and lands at Raff's feet. Lily is afraid and desperate to escape the planet and return to earth. Raff is instantly attracted to her and feels the need to rescue her. I listened to this on Audible, and the narrator is super talented Ryan West. The story is fast paced, well written, with interesting characters. Also, a hot romance, witty alpha, action packed. But, I felt frustrated with Lily! She has a gentle, loving and fierce alien who is falling hard for her, and offering her his protection. A new life, a new beginning, meanwhile back on earth she literally has no one special. Overall, I liked the story line, the characters, the action and the hot romance.
“Traitor.” He froze. “I’d never betray you, Lilly.” “Not you. My body,” she grumbled."
Lily and Raff were hot together. It must be a Tryleskian thing to get their women so turned on they choose to stay. I’m not complaining it’s just a trait Raff and his cousin Cathian share. Lol. So you can imagine how hot the sex is. This being Raff’s story also had a ton of fighting and death. Raff is a trained assassin so a lot of death. I loved that Lilly defended him against the crew. She pointed out they were bad guys who wanted her back to prostitute her. It’s good to see Raff has someone on his side always. They were good for each other.
Raff has systematically killed those responsible for his mother's death until there is only one left. Eldet. Vowing never to rest until Eldet is dead, Raff returns to his childhood home world Gluttren Four where his prey has been located.
Life is difficult on Gluttren Four as the strong control the weak with no one stronger than Raff's childhood ally Prix who has taken Raff's kill opportunity away from him, making it his own. Prix had a major role in Eldet's death leaving Raff with mixed feelings as the adult Prix controls his world through fear, intimidation, violence, and illegal commerce. Regardless, Raff's mission is complete and he can leave Gluttren Four forever, never to return as the planet holds no happy memories for him.
Lilly is a distraction Raff can't ignore. An Earth female auctioned off to Prix who will use her in one of his brothels. To be used and breeded. Not something Raff will allow.

This is the 4th installment in the "The Vorge Crew" that features a character I have been waiting for the most. Raff. To date this has been the meanest badass of the crew. Feared by all as to gain his attention is to invite pain, torture, or worse. He's the boogeyman of people's nightmares. But. Raff is loyal to the Vorge Crew and is as much a friend to them all as anyone in his shoes can be.
With the above being said, I really was irritated that the hype for Raff didn't translate into this book. Sure he can fight and sure he has skills with his mercenary killer background but somewhere along the line he's become a pussycat in this story.
The storyline has various degrees of action/adventure and adult content romance scenes, but overall was pretty straightforward and superficial. Though this author does provide an enjoyable reading experience for her fans, I wanted more big and bad with sexy time whipped cream on top.
The next installment teaser is included at the end of this book which will feature Marrow. Not a character I'm interested knowing more about so don't think I will be continuing with the series.
Raff was always very quiet in previous books. Here, we get to see him open up to Lilly. Very quick insta-love with a strong "need to breed". The Vorge crew seems to be collecting human mates. Curious to see what happens next with Cathian's brothers.
Raff is the assassin, unacknowledged cousin to Cathian (book 1), captain of the Vorge. He's back on his home planet G4 looking to find the last man who murdered his mother.
Our heroine Lilly was on a scientific exploration ship that got taken over by pirates and sold into a brothel owned by a crime boss acquaintance of Raff. She was trying to escape the brothel when she was stunned right in front of Raff. Seeing Lilly is human, Raff immediately decided to save her despite having to go against the crime boss and his whole gang.
Raff's shuttle is damaged during their escape and they had to wait for rescue so a lot of the action took place hiding out in G4's outlands where Raff and his mother hid years ago, whilst the crime boss's people searched for them. During that time together, Raff decided that he wanted Lilly for his own.
Unlike the other human mates, Lilly is the only one who actually wanted to go back to Earth and we found out that it's actually possible to have video chat with Earth from outerspace. How cool!
It's strange how Raff is a totally different character when interacting with Lilly to how he was in the first three books. It's the power of LUUVE, I guess.
Raff is a bit out of character in here, but still an enjoyable short read.
The kindle ebook had way too many typos. I have read all of LD's ebook and audiobooks, several times over and absolutely loved most of them. However, this book must be updated. Using my kindle I felt like I was proofreading the book with the amount of error report I sent.
I really enjoyed this one compared to the others. Raff is the underdog, having been abandoned and shunned by his birth father. The same man whose tried to have his existence wiped out. Raff is Cathian’s cousin yet his mothers unique DNA makes him different and where Cathian life locks with his mate, Raff does not. This does not diminish his need and determination. This is particularly true when a return trip to the planet he grew up on has Lilly literally landing at his feet as she tries to run and escape her alien captors. Raff is familiar with humans and does not like how she’s being treated so of course the big guy does what he does best. He causes a hell of a lot of trouble lol. Lilly is to be sold in a brothel, obviously against her will and the thought of what would happen to her lights an inferno inside of him. This book like the others is super fast paced and that’s particularly true of the relationship between Raff and Lilly. I’m sad to see there is not another book out after this one especially with the information and bombs we are left with at the end.... I know it’ll happen one day, I’ll just bide my time until then!!!
I have loved this series and once I heard about Raff I was very excited. After seeing so much of his backstory I was left wanting more from this book. As you can see I still am rating this a 4 so not bad by any means but not a 5 star with is what I was sure this would get. I wanted to see more of his rough and tough side. And I wanted to see more of the family dynamic in this book after getting so much build up and story about his horrible family. I do think more will be coming with the family from what is at the end of this book but I was sure it would happen in this book. I can't wait for the next book especially after seeing who it is about and seeing how more and more charters are being added and the opening for more charters has been made.

deadly, dark, mysterious, Overall 4 out of 5 stars Performance 4 out of 5 stars Story 4 out of 5 stars Reviewed: 01-05-20
Raff was a dangerous male. He was a secret that his family did not want to have exposed. He was a weapon all to himself. Raff finds a rare jewel when he returns home to take care of some lose ends to his life. He just was not expecting to find one so rare or so desired.
I was hoping one of the fella’s would save their mate this way. Lilly really was looking for an adventure when she left earth I don’t think she expected what happened but I think in the end she was grateful she found Raff.
I love that Raff wasn’t looking and he finds Lilly and she is not only perfect for him but he for her. He is a much different Raff then his crew knows because with her he can be open and himself.
Again I loved the narration I was so surprised it was in a male pov, but it makes sense because the book is in Raff’s pov. Fantastic, I hope we get one more ;) with the way it ended I think we will.
Yay! I'm so glad this isn't the last book in the series. Can't wait for more! :D
Probably the least believable couple but Raff was a total sweety and I loved him. Lily was contradictory but she was relatable and I just want more from Dohner.
WOW! Again, it reminds me of this author's other series, which i miss reading.... especially, a certain aspect of when Raff is highly aroused ;D LOL! Love it.
I love a little hide out/forced proximity romance. Their love story was extremelyyyyy rushed but we’re not here for top tier literature, we’re here for pure enjoyment purposes. 10/10.
This story was very good and bad a bit more action and suspense than the others. Raff was interesting and a favorite from the start. And he even had some surprises unique to him that were really great. This story still and all the sci-fi, alien romance enjoyed in previous stories as well as getting glimpses of the previous couples and how they are doing which I love. This story was kind of a happy for now and I can't wait for the next book. As well as any others wether that's crew like marrow or others they meet that may sprout from this and get there own stories because so far they have all been good. Would recommend.
Though I gave the book 3 stars, I was greatly disappointed. Having read the other books, I was highly anticipating Raff’s story. Raff is the silent dangerous one- the ‘loose canon’....the ‘unknown’. In this story, he is suddenly the antithesis. I swear, sometimes he wouldn’t shut up...so ‘out of character’. I believe there was missed opportunity to add an additional dimension to the storyline. After all, one of the reasons for having a “strong silent” type is so the leading lady can scratch at, and eventually knock down, the walls that have been so carefully erected. Ain’t happn’n here.
I was looking forward to Raff's story so much and after reading the first 3 books I'm sorely disappointed. this story was rushed.....majorly. I guess I was expecting more build up between the two MCs. not just a slam bam guess we're life mates now. the MCs literally only know each other for 12hrs before they decide to get bonded/married. sheesh, talk about shotgun wedding
This is the 4th book in the The Vorge Crew series. I’ve only read York’s book, but I wanted to read Raff’s, because he’s such an interesting character. Raff was shunned and abandoned by his father’s family, dumping him and his mom on a brutal planet. He survived by learning to kill early, and loves violence, but he's all gooey inside. He meets Lilly (a recently captured slave) while visiting his home planet. Much of the book is spent with the two hiding out from the natives. (that are pissed that Raff attacked them to save Lilly)
I listened to the audio of both books, this one is narrated by Ryan West, and I liked it better. (both are part of audible escapes) I enjoyed this one, but it wasn’t a thrilling read. The majority they are stuck in a cave, and it’s a bit of a slow burn. Lilly waffles for the last part, which got a little old, but overall ok.
3.5 stars, rounded down due to the amount of typos.
Another quickly easy read in this series. I didn’t really feel Raff had the same personality in this book as his character has been show to have in the previous books. That was disappointing. I wanted to see this hardened p, keep to himself, assassin urn close and personal but he didn’t really have much of a different personality than York.
Also the first set scene seemed kind of dub-con which doesn’t really seem to fit the book/characters/series. I’m thinking the author didn’t intend for it to be dub-con but didn’t know how to convey what she wanted.
4.3 stars I truly enjoyed the Story of Raff and how he met Lilly. I think that the fact that he was by himself allowed him to be more at ease with her, it is like the opinions of all of his crew had him in a box that was hard for him to be gentler. A feisty heroine that was easy to admire Great writing, looking forward to reading the next
I really liked and enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and I really liked Raff and Lilly as a couple. My only real problem was the pacing with their relationship. I think Raff and Lilly knew each other for like two days and then all the sudden they were fully in love. I just would’ve liked to see them spend more time together and get some more development there.
