This was a great book, lots of action, lots of familiar characters BUT the reason for 4 Stars instead of 5 is the chaotic bit of about 5 plots (or more) all going on and switching back and forth all through the book. Add to the fact that for the most part nothing really got accomplished but we just moved a bit farther down the timeline of life in this world we have learned to love. The fact that the author promised to have the next book to us in around 30 days does make it a bit easier to deal with everything that is going on in the world of Bethany Anne and Michael so still loving it folks after somewhere in the area of 40-50 books in the original series and all of its spin-offs, some I loved and some just did not click for me but loving this one, Just need a couple of things to have some resolution so we can focus on maybe just 2 or 3 plots at a time LOL

This is not working for me...

I really liked this series for quite a while. The writing style was new to me and I liked the lack of detail and the jumping around in the story. However, it was still enough story to satisfy. Lately that just isn't the case. It appears to me to be all fluff with way to much focus on the kids playing vrmmo style gaming. I got about 3/4 of the way through this book then quit on it. I'm sorry Mr. Anderle, but I think you've taken this writing style too far. It was great but I feel there is really very little about BA going on any more and that makes me sad. Maybe you just have too much on your plate to give it the same attention you used to. I dunno but I can say I'm disappointed.

I gave up on this series halfway through this book. I had already read the previous 23 books (21 in the first series and 2 in this one) plus some spinoffs, so what changed?

The premise is the simplest of wish-fulfillment fantasies: Imagine having power and impunity. The series has vampires and werewolves and aliens with advanced technology and other aliens with might-as-well-be-magic technology, but the emotional core of the series doesn't depend on any of that. The emotional core is that Bethany Anne kills bad guys - terrorists, slavers, alien invaders - because she's powerful enough to kill them, and she's powerful enough that nobody can stop her and she knows they deserve it. No messy due process, no messy politics, no enemies with greater power and greater impunity.

A series needs three things in order to keep going - an engaging story, an appealing cast, and emotional payoff. The emotional payoff is the one described in the previous paragraph. It wouldn't be nice to live in that reality, but it's a lovely fantasy. The characters have never been a strength of the series. Almost none of them are fleshed out. Mostly they are simple caricatures - this one drinks like a fish and wins bets through sly cheating, this one pinches men's butts, we don't really know anything about that one except that he's very good in a fight... The more-important characters mostly have more quirks. For example, Bethany Anne has more shoes than Imelda Marcos, requires her people to curse imaginatively, and uses her power and her powers to support Coca Cola.

That leaves the story. There wasn't one. The book consists mostly of power-fantasy vignettes. Bethany Anne joins her kids in a virtual game, and kicks butt. (Basically, the game decided that she was more powerful, in game terms, than the opposition.) Bethany Anne's husband goes dinosaur hunting and gets into fights he wins easily. (At the end he has to fight a mega-monster, so he stops holding back.) Bethany Anne's children are kidnapped (for lack of basic precautions) and their baby sitter has to go to the trouble of chasing and killing the kidnappers. There's a larger story trying to peek through the cracks, but it doesn't get much play time. It feels as if the author is bored.

Educational!

There’s a wonderful balance between the various sub-plots, and a certain elegance to how they are knit together without the reader necessarily registering this at first. Avoiding a narrow focus on a single story line makes for a far more interesting read, and allows for a broader overall plot to be developed.

The characters come across very realistically, and I love their peculiarities and quirks that make them believable and loveable: or annoying!

Then there’s the constant injection of humour! I love all the little bits that are interjected in the various situations the characters find themselves in.

One of the things I love about the new series is that the children are allowed to be children, are educated practically through play, are cherished, and can make decisions and their own mistakes. They are being taught compassion and strength as a balance. There is much that modern education systems could take away from this! The principle of working as a team, of knowing your own and your team members’ strengths and weaknesses in order to better work together is a sound one one and to be commended.

Michael had me entranced with The Kurtherian Gambit, and he has taken The Kurtherian Endgame to a whole new level.

I gave up after 2 hours listening to this Michael Anderle is very good at 1 thing dragging his series out way past their expiration date. This series has gone off the rails and I am sad to say the first 12 or so books in the Kurtherian gambit series where amazing. The rest has absolutely nothing in common with those books except for characters. The Kurtherian Endgame is even worse though. Michael Anderle drops the ball on several series when he starts going over the 10 books mark.

It was great to get back to see what is happening with Bethany Anne, and Michael. There really was so much happening in the book, that it was like riding on a roller-coaster.

I actually only gave four stars this time, though - mainly because I felt it was a cop out to have the twins spend most of their time within a virtual game - and that having them growing up so quickly, within those games, after the nanocyte problems feels like an excuse in not having to deal with kids.

I get the feeling that ideas are running out, too. It's becoming slightly repetitious with yet another alien race who are baddies, and need exterminating.

But I really did enjoy visiting with so many of the characters, from throughout this long series, and I was so pleased that Sabine and Akio managed to sort out all they meant to each other.

All-in-all, a very good story, as usual!

So, now I go on to the next book in my reading list, which is book three of the Shadow Vanguard series: Immortality Curse!

Still a captivating read

Solid 4 star rating!
I know it's not a solid five like the author's other installments but it was still a captivating read. I found parts of the storyline to be slower in this one. I did enjoy the many various scenes going on between chapter to chapter, the build in the characters lives as they continue their lives, and as always, I love reading about the twins, BA, and Michael.
There is one complaint I do have. It seems there are more grammar and editing needs in this one than previous installments; missing words, wrong word usage (maybe???), past tense vs. present for the sentence. It slowed down some sentences throughout the whole book as I reread them to make sure I wasn't mistaken, but, regardless of that, it didn't totally take away from the enjoyment of the installment.
Of course I will be looking forward to the next installment.

This is the first book in this long story of Bethany Ann where the editing misses and errors were bothersome. Missing words, a least one section out of chronological order for the story we’re the problems for me. If the primary author is going to have another author help with writing the books then they need to pay more attention to this. The last book also has one section a bit out of sync but it wasn’t as disruptive as in this book.

On a positive note, it is still quite entertaining and I want to read what happens next. I can also tell you that the author has moments of real philosophical inspiration that I enjoy.

Do read this series in order as each book definitely builds on the prior book. You won’t be disappointed in following this recommendation and the full series is worth it.

Bethany Ann Rules

Hi Michael, I've read so many of your author's notes that I feel like I know you. But even better, I feel like I know Bethany Ann ( Michael too! Lol) I have read your books sooo many times, but I find new stuff alla time. Your storylines catch from page One, and it's a race to the finish from there. IDK how many times I've woken my husband up laffing out loud at Bethany Ann and her antics with her Bitches. I love your books and I wait for the next one by... Reading them all Again! Thanks for being such a great author, and keep up the good work!!! Being a curser myself, I LOVE your creative cussing. ; )

Gosh I loved this book! Lots of different plot lines weaving together, humor, dinosaurs (!), new antagonists and so much more. Old and new friends and still the Kurtherians lurking somewhere in space.

For fans of “hard” sci-fi the bits with the twins may not resonate but I find it deepens the character development of BA and Michael. Good stuff with Tabitha and Peter as well. Highly recommended for TKG fans. If you haven’t discovered this author /series start with Death Becomes Her and enjoy the ride!

Through the Fire and Flame

Bethany and Michael have to deal with another species trying to moving on their territory and the loss of life that brought as well as having to rescue the team members taken including Peter. Meanwhile Tabitha is going crazy and the twins have surprises of their own coming to the fore.

Another installment to run through in the Bethany Ann saga, with a nice update for Sabine and Akio. As always full of thrills, unexpected issues and great characters.

Challenging my memory with the wealth of returning characters

Good story. Trouble following all the returning characters. Like the resolution of Sabine and Akio, the potential of Sabine and Tim, don't remember earlier stories about Sabine, but enjoyed the whole bit about Tabitha. But the kids, the pups, Lorelei, etc., Will keep me coming back for a resolution to the story(ies).
Michael, keep up the good work, both your own and the others you've encouraged, hslpede , etc. Thank you.

Hail, Hail The Gang's All Here

Bethany Anne, Michael, and the rest of the crew come together for family, protection, and war. Freinds of Bethany Anne have been taken prisoner or killed. Time to bring on the hurt. Bethany Anne is my favorite character with others in the series among my favorites. The blooming romances are cute and compelling. I look forward to the next book.

Movie night versus T-Rex hunt!

Bethany Anne and Michael are enjoying life with their family. A girls night in for BA and a T-Rex hunt for Michael. This life is about to become more complicated when they are dragged into a new war with the Ooken who may have a connection with the Kurtherians. You also can enjoy catch-ups with other beloved characters with a major life change for Peter and Tabitha. This is a fast ride that hopefully will lead you to the next Bethany Anne story.

Bethany Ann at her best

24 books about the same character and each book is better than the last. My only complaint is waiting so long between Endgame 2 and Endgame 3. Let’s hope 4 is quicker. If you want a series with interesting characters and will make you laugh out loud (while your daughter gives you strange looks cause she thinks your laughing at nothing) read all of this series- and the previous series

I didn’t enjoy this book, I’m not really sure what the author was trying to do with the story. There were too many irrelevant sub plots, like Michael’s T-rex hunt and the tedious virtual video game. I thought the core story of this series was trying to find and eliminating the rogue Kurtherans, but this series is really going off at a tangent.

There was a bit of action when Bethany Anne goes after the Ookens, but even this was very chaotic.

With this 3rd book, I decided I like the combined plots. Different areas of focus are needed to visualize the universe BA is creating. Plus there is a lot of action that is not concentrated on one set of characters. Etheric energy plasma weapons, Peter captured, the Devon group, injured kids, and new parents. What a book. This is one of my favorite lines, " but the last few minutes before the expected ETA were dragging slower than snail chariots in molasses." WAY COOL

I always love a BA book

Seriously this complete Kurtherian series is one of my absolute favorites. It's awesome to get a glimpse of Michael and BA as parents. I like to picture BA as my mom lol so seeing her mom her two kids and her legacy is inspiring and terrifying. Terrifying because with my issues I don't think she'd like how I live/am hahaha. Either way, she has a strong moral code and fights for those who can't, which just makes me love her.

I’m loving this Endgame series

There is never a dull moment in any of these books! There are always problems that pop up, someone’s life is in shambles, some strange civilization shows up trying to kill you and every one you know.
The kids are growing up too fast…way too fast. Ands they’re too smart for their own good.
And Tabitha and Peter are going to,be parents! Woot woot! Now I’m off to see what’s going on with Tim and Sabine.

Well Then

Let me start by saying that I love you as a writer and I have read all of your book about BA, but this time around I was disappointed with the way you left out the rest of the gang. John Grimes Scott & Darryl and Eric and Gabrielle in Bethany Ann time of need they were their when the twins was born.......... BNP

Great book!

As far as I am concerned, these books just keep getting better and better! I loved how this one unfolded. The Pete and Tabitha storyline is awesome. The storyline about the kids is breaking my heart right now but I just know it will be a winner when it's all said and done. Good job my authors, good job!

Is the end nearl

I have read most of the KGU and though the action is enjoyable the writing style has worn on me. The bouncing around to all the sub plots with tertiary characters is just filler. And it seems too easy of a plot twist that the twins just have to accelerate their aging process. In for 50 books so in for some more but hoping next time I can give a better review

A series that could on forever!!

What do I like about this series? The humor and butt kicking. A strong female main character and a supporting cast to back her up who are as bad asses as she is. This is a series that can live on forever with so much potential and life. As my friend from Galaxy Quest said it best " Never give up! Never surrender!"

Good series

The Kurtherian series has been a good series so far. I admit i did stop reading all the spin offs because i couldn't keep up and i didn't have time to read anything else.but i do like the original series with all the crew. Hopefully at some point I'll go back and catch up on the skin offs.

Great addition

I like that just when you think the author has forgotten about a character in the storyline he linkes them back in. It is so satisfying and makes you feel like you just got the most amazing dessert with your all you can eat Bethany Anne buffet. Please keep on doing what you are doing and we will keep reading!

Bethany Anne, Michael, Gabriel, Alexis, Pete, Tabitha, Akio

Michael and his buddys Pete and Akio are hunting for a T-Rex like lizard on Devon. Michael has a huge grill made to cook it.

Alexis and Gabriel the twins continue to learn using the modules developed by Michael and Eve the computer.

Characterization and plotting are excellent.

Anderle never disappoints

Anderle at his best with the continuing beat down by Bethany Anne. With dramatic changes to the children, New Devon shaping up and the appearance of the Ooken, there is never a dull moment. You are enticed to read this book in one sitting with the continual story plot changes and the fast paced action of war.

More Fun

Tabitha and Peter are having a baby and the twins are being aged to save their lives. All the while Bethany Anne and Michael are fighting a war with the "Ookans." Needless to say this book has some great stories and continues to urge you to keep reading the Endgame. Don't forget the authors notes! Enjoy!
