This innovative guide to the chakras explains how grief and trauma impacts on every level of our being, and provides the tools to help clients experiencing trauma and grief by influencing, balancing and nurturing the chakra system. The book provides thorough and clear explorations of each chakra, their connections to each other, and tantric ways of working with energy. It features over 100 expressive and experiential exercises to remedy the ill-effects of grief and trauma, including yoga poses, mudras, pranayama (breath exercises), journaling, creation of ritual, use of essential oils and crystals and stones. Drawing on expertise as a licensed counselor, psychotherapist and yoga therapist, and personal experience as a bereaved mother, the author shares the teachings, practices and philosophies of yoga's ancient wisdom in a new way, and shows how to sustain personal chakra balancing that will resonate through all areas of life.
Chakras and Tantra are very special areas for me, being a yoga teacher and reiki healer. When my father passed away, I began looking for resources to help me contextualise what I already know towards my circumstance of grief. I found that, and so much more, in this book.
Helbert’s wisdom of the chakras are not just in-depth, but also broad, all of which she has shared here in this book. In this sense, this book not only contextualised my knowledge but deepened and broadened it as well. I also like how Helbert included her knowledge of parallel wisdom from other faiths and religions.
Wisdom on asana, mudras and aromatherapy for each chakra are also shared, and I especially love the teachings on the mudras - an area that I have always been fascinated in but not really been exposed to. Practising some of the mudras, together with my own reiki practice, really helped smooth my grieving energy.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is grieving, and also who is keen to be exposed to yoga and tantra wisdom. It certainly helped me, and I’m sure it can help you too.
