Forgotten Legion Chronicles #3.5

The March: A Forgotten Legion long 'short' story

Rate this book
Ever wondered what happened to Brennus as he fought the elephant on the bank of the river in India? Ever wondered what happened to Romulus and Tarquinius after The Road to Rome ended? Now you can. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A LONG 'SHORT' STORY, NOT A FULL LENGTH NOVEL. ABOUT THE STORY’S Hello, you lovely people. Odd to talk about money straight up, but I know that some of you might be thinking, £2.49 is a lot for a short story. However, it's almost a novella in length. Think of it in terms of a pint of beer or a cup of they cost £2-4, depending on where you live. This story will give you more enjoyment (I think!) than either of those things, and last for a longer time, and cost you less money. This is a first for me, self-publishing a short story. It’s been an exciting project since the day I did the poll on Facebook, asking you lovely people which of my characters you wanted me to write about. The character from the Forgotten Legion won out, narrowly, and this is the result. The one hundred and something people who backed the Kickstarter campaign got to read this story first, but now you can too. Enjoy, and please email me if you have any questions about it or anything else – ben@benkane.net - best wishes - Ben

This is a short story that takes place after the trilogy. In this one, Romulus and Tarquinius set out to search for Brennus years after they were separated.

I don't give many five star ratings and I am surprised I am giving a short story five stars. I loved this one and it gave me the "feels" at the end. I had a major gripe at the end of the trilogy that one story line was dropped and never finished. This short story addresses that story line and immediately I was happy that it did. I was also happy to visit this universe again and the two main characters. One of this author's strengths is his portrayal of battles and we get a vivid, fantastic battle in this story. The ending was terrific and gave me "the feels". It satisfied my gripe that I have carried for years after I completed the trilogy.

One must read the trilogy before this short story. I would consider this more like an epilogue to the trilogy. Finally, I get my answers to a question and I could not be happier.

I want more!!!

This is a great ending to to the trilogy of books. The usual exciting story really well written by Mr. Kane. Loved every page of this short story. Maybe in the future we might another road to trilogy. I for one would certainly buy it. Thank you Ben Kane. P.s. Do Hannibal next.

Legendary.

Amazing writer. Not going to give spoilers but it's incredibly how quickly Ben can drag you flawlessly back into the world and story 10 years after the original and still leave you wanting more. Thank you Ben

This is a great taste for the series. I would recommend it if you want an idea for what the series will be like but at the same time, I wouldn’t recommend it if you’ve never read the series because there will be major spoilers. This encompasses everything that the main series does except the political intrigue.

This more so focuses on the action and exploring aspects. Even in this short little novella, we truly know the characters of Tarquinius and Romulus. One error was that I was getting a lot of the side characters confused.

Therethere is just an overwhelming amount of them. The atmosphere is definitely my favorite part. I’m somebody when I get an open world video game, I want to explore every ounce of the map and that is what Ben Kane does with his Forgotten Legion series, he tries to take us to everywhere in the ancient world, and I love that.

The plot is definitely action heavy theres a mission to be had. That’s not really my favorite story to read, but I do know a lot of fans of the series will like that. This was good and did take me back to The Forgotten Legion series, but I don’t think it’s a must read if you’re a fan of the series either.

3.25 out of 5 stars.

Too much for a short story

It’s such a great trilogy that I had a hard time with this. Not because it wasn’t good or I don’t think everyone that read The Forgotten Legion trilogy shouldn’t read it, as they absolutely should. It just felt ... anti-climactic. If I say much more it will include spoilers and I don’t want to do that - it’s good and well worth it if you read the first three, if only for the sake of closure and because it can be read in about 30 minutes.

I’m greedy though. I wanted more than closure.

Thanks Ben.

What a great way to raise money for park in the past. I always wondered what may have happened to Brennus, Romulus and Tarquinius from The road to Rome. Now I know. The crazy thing is, even though the characters are fictional, I still get attached to them. I want to know if they survived or died. Brennus fighting a war elephant, there can be only one winner can't there? This story wraps up the books brilliantly and a lot of the money paid for the book goes to a great cause. One I will be visiting as soon as i can. 10 out of 10.

So very glad that Ben Kane decided to revisit and round out The Forgotten Legion's story. Amazing that in such a short book that the author can drag you back into the bigger story. For me it was like catching up with old friends. Blood, guts, glory and friendship abound in this wonderfully told short story.
Whilst you can read it as a stand alone, it is much better to have read the others in the series first.

It may be short but it's tall in stature !!!!

A great read that got me through a few hours in the shade in Rhodes !
Reading is one of life's great gifts, I loved this short story, albeit the short part. Let's hope another short story follows maybe "the rest of the March "
Content to put any spoilers out so can't say much more, other than as usual extremely happy I downloaded this title, well done Mr Kane, smashed it again :)

Amazing

I'm a huge fan of Ben Kane and have read all of his historical fiction books. The forgotten legion trilogy was my first and also my favourite experience of his works, with Romulus,Brennus and Tarquinius being my favourite protagonists. I was desperate to know what happened to Brennus, and was ecstatic when I found Ben Kane had released this book. I bought it straight away and wasn't disappointed. If you're a Ben Kane and forgotten legion fan, this is a must buy.

Legian

We need to take the forgotten legion all the way to China, that we might discover the blue eyed Chinese.

Is that it?

A great short story following the forgotten legion, but, are you honestly going to finish with the forgotten legion like that?,we hope not.
