Strongly shaded by the 'bluebeard' theme, I liked how the H and the heroine genuinely fall in love with each other and there is a fair amount of romance and sex in this gothic-romance alongside the mystery. Based on a MOC, the virgin h, a parson's daughter, has her marriage arranged to the twice-widowed, 20yrs older Duke/H who is surrounded with the mysteries related to death/cause of death of his previous 2 wives. The story gets more mysterious when the h starts to feel unwell after her marriage aswell and they have to change the serving maids. There is an ancestral Curse within the Wolf family that a son could only be born if the woman was taken from within the wolf family and the Duke is desperate to have a son since only sons could inherit the Dukedom or his enemy relatives would takeover. There are many complicated and queer side characters and servants and the MCs have to discover the truth about the deaths and about each other. I found the ending to be very satisfying and I highly recommend this gothic romance.
