Things are changing in Landover. But not for the normal.
In 1923, after a snowed-in get-together among friends, Feldman Winehouse was discovered with his throat cut, under his own poker table at his speakeasy.
And now, his ghost has come to medium detective Carly Taylor to help him figure out which one of his best friends murdered him that weekend.
There’s only one problem. Feldman can't be trusted. He cheated his way in to see Carly. And he seems to be hiding a lot.
Carly wants nothing to do with this devilish ghost, especially since his energy seems to be changing into something even stronger and stranger than usual.
But when the ghost proves he knows secrets about the curse, it might be more than Carly can resist, even if she has to find out the hard way just how dangerous solving murder mysteries can be in Landover.
I am so guilty of binge reading this series!😀 I just love everything about it from the quirky characters to the paranormal aspects to great world building and a unique plot that will have you addicted!💖 Okay so, I love everything about Etta Faire's novels but one thing that truly sticks out to me is the dual storylines that both captivate you but what gets me the most is the cold case mysteries and how they are solved. It's brilliant and you get to read and go to places that are from so many different historical eras! I really can't fangirl enough about this series and know I need to catch up on my other reviews for this series and to add them to my blog and my other platforms because I have been addicted!💯😍 This series and book gets a hands down 5+ Stars out of 5 Stars! Highly recommended!💖🌺📚🌈😍💯
Awesome read. Ghosts, a murder, missing people and the gates of hell all wrapped up in a tale that will keep you reading until the end. Great the way her powers are growing and evolving with each new case. When she tries to help a friend look for her missing boyfriend and money she comes to know the new owner of the restaurant that has just opened in town. The restaurant is going through a bad patch, ghosts have been getting out of hand and it all seems to be related to the old speakeasy that's in the basement. Offering to help the owner to clear out the ghosts might not have been one of her best ideas. As the ghost she is channeling tries to take over. Building in strength each time she channels. Who killed him and why? Why did the iron horse keep turning up? How can she fight? Who opened the gates of hell? Why is the book so important? What happened to the missing boyfriend? Why are the birds attacking again? Will she be alert to find any answers?
Worst one yet. I mean, come on. How stupid can you be, little-girl. The entire time, I kept hoping a bear would eat her (the MC). And again, I have to mention. Her entitled actions are so annoying. I swear, if I wasn’t going to be bombarded with questions about this series, I would have DNF’ed book one. On the plus side, I know why I don’t like this MC. She is an entitled person. She thinks like a rich person. Like a spoiled little girl you wish you could smack around. It don’t because you’ll get arrested. I’m done
I enjoyed reading this story about Carly that can talk to ghosts and channel their pasts to solve mysteries. Carly is asked to help a ghost named Feldman Winehouse find out who slit his throat during a snowy weekend in 1923, after a private poker game among lifelong friends. Feldman owns a speakeasy and all the characters might have reasons to kill him.
There’s only one problem. He needs to hurry. His energy is changing from a ghost into what most people commonly refer to as a demon, so he doesn’t have much time.
Oooooow I am so excited to tell you about this really good spooky paranormal cozey mystery, the characters are vibrant, bold and colorful some quirky and some spooky and a bit intimidating drawing you into their dramatic lives while a mystery entices you further with its intrigue, spirits and spooky plot circling around a past bringing it into the present causing problems you won't want to miss out on. Acquire " Under the Cheater's Table " today for hours of intriguing, spooky and enjoyable entertainment. Kat
5.0 out of 5 stars Great mystery Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2020
I am really enjoying Carly, her ex, and the rest of the characters in this book. Going back to the time of speakeasies and back room poker games was a fun addition and having a ghost on the edge of a possible change was interesting. The mystery kept me guessing until the end. I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
This series has me totally hooked and this book is fantastic! Carly is the best and ai love how she is learning more and more about her gifts. She is very good at helping the dead solve the mystery of their murder but she is learning more about herself and the mystery surrounding her in her inherited home. The town is strange and the more she finds out, the more things seem to be connected. I can't wait to see what else she discovers.
This series is getting really interesting. Between Carly being new to channeling ghosts and learning that the town of landover isn’t what it seems, she now must decide to either channel Feldman winehouse before he transitions into a demon. Will Carly get sucked in with Feldman or will she solve who killed him?

Book 4 in the continuing series of Carly and her friends both real and ghosts solving murders. In this book a ghost who was killed at a poker game in his own Speakeasy is slowly changing from a ghost to a demon. He needs Carly's help quickly. This series combines humour and mystery with finesse. I can hardly wait for the next book.
I still love this series, but this book was not my favorite. It felt a little darker than the first three books (actually four books because I read the prequel). There were the same unique characters plus the new antagonist and the same puzzling mystery. So, well worth reading.
A fun ride with Carly at the helm. A good mystery with underlying plot throughout the series. A ghost, cheating, demons what's not to like about this book. Some funny moments. She sometimes seems to be getting in over her head but pulls it off every time.
I love that the main character is maybe not conflicted, but that she has a lot going on with her relationships. It's also wonderful to see her psychic abilities grow as well as her confidence. Great mystery, fun history, I absolutely love this series!
Sometimes a murder investigation has to many suspects and this one sure does. Although I felt we didn’t have a lot of information about the ladies making it hard to see if they had a motive.
This is the 4th in the series. The story revolves around a woman who can channel ghosts and help them figure out who killed them. The entire town seems to be nothing bit shapeshifters and ghosts and people who channel ghost. I enjoyed the book but I don't think this kind of story is for me.
Another good ghost story and mystery from the past. The story also reveals further information about a curse that is affecting the weird people and places in present day Landover. The curse and unanswered questions will continue into the next book.
OMG! These books get better and better. This is a fantastic series. This book is the best one yet. The story/mystery is fantastic. I didn't want to put it down. Highly recommend reading!!
