Two states from his daughter, and the missiles have been launched...

Jack Archer is a train wreck. Stripped of his medical license, his marriage destroyed, hollowed out by grief and guilt, and reliant on alcohol to manage a pain the surgeons insist is all in his head. He’d have to climb for days just to reach the gutter.

And then a call from an old colleague changes everything. Something terrible is about to happen on the west coast. A nuclear blast has sent the nation into a panic. The government has triggered Condition Black, a chilling secret contingency plan intended as the last resort after the last resort has failed, and Jack’s ex-wife and seven year old daughter are standing in the line of fire.

Will he reach Emily before the missiles hit? Can he fight his way though the chaos and earn one final shot at redemption, or is Jack Archer cursed to watch another child die?

Keith Taylor is the true identity of the million plus selling author behind the pen names Aya Fukunishi and K A Taylor, who toiled for years writing bizarrely popular romance novels while he secretly longed to return to his true calling: explosively awesome post-apocalyptic fiction.

Keith hails from the rainy suburbs of Manchester in the north of England. He lives with his wife, Otgontsetseg, and splits his time between Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and Bangkok, Thailand. He survives on a diet of meat, cheese, beer and cigarettes, and he probably shouldn't still be alive.

Binged

I read it almost without stopping. And since I am from Seattle, the parts that took place there were very vivid for me. Looking forward to the next book release.

This was a good start to a series, but I felt the book itself was way too short. I hope this is not one of those "episode" style series where each book is terribly short and there is a long time between each installment. I'm also not too sure there would be time to declare, implement and send troops for a "Code Black" when a possible nuclear strike might be incoming. That being said, the writing was good and the story did flow pretty well. I

So far so good

I am enjoying this book. There are no super heroes. No one with vast amounts of money to survive an apocalyptic event with all the bells and whistles.. Just regular people. Looking forward to reading Book 2.

Fav quotes
He knew this would hurt, because if Warren had ever been a hundred sixty pounds it had been quite a few Big Macs in the past. He was one ninety if he weighed an ounce.

Excellent reading!

Just discovered this author and am so glad I did. This book was one helluva ride! Nonstop action in an apocalyptic storyline. I love the characters. Especially the dog! They are all relatable and it’s interesting getting to know them. The storyline is so real you feel like you are experiencing it with them. So far no extreme violence or sexual content so I can safely recommend to apocalyptic readers of all ages. Looking forward to the next book!

And you thought you were having a bad day..

Jack Archer lost his family in a divorce, his license to practice medicine, and is drinking vodka for breakfast but when SHTF in the form of a nuclear attack he is determined to save his daughter and ex-wife. Non-stop action makes this a quick read - can’t wait for the next book!

Great read, i cried and gasped with terror

What are our greatest fears, of one my parents imprinted within me is fear of nuclear weapons. They grew up during the cold war, hoping their children would never feel their fear, but i have. I pray this never happens, absolutely mortifying. Love it! Moving onto the next.

Very well done !!

A damn good read , although I would of liked it a bit longer but that’s what the next instalment is for , which I will be buying. The author was very good at fleshing out the characters and the story honestly I was expecting another all to common apocalyptic storyline but this one is plausible and well done with a realistic story line and characters.

I hate soap opera series type writing.

What ever happened to just writing a Book? Tell the story, develope the plots and characters, conclude and let it stand. Literature has gone to smoke. Every wanna be writer wants to do comic book serials like this trash. I'm done. No I will not read on.

My first time read of Keith Taylor. Really a good read. Characters so human and reachable. The plot scary in that it could so easily drop on any country any time as the international stage is a bit rocky. I haven't really reached the part on who the culprit was but does it matter at this point? Survival is King.

Great read

Recommended for fans of apocalyptic fiction. Crisply plotted and with district characters, “Things Fall Down” is a bracing, interesting read. So refreshing to have apocalyptic fiction that is based in reality and not some prepper fantasy.

Worth reading

Best emp book I've read in a long time! I didn't want to put it down. Glad to read a book about what people face after emp event. Too much military talk and I lose interest quick. So this book was fantastic!

San Francisco falls and takes bridges with it

This is new twist in apocalyptic story. Non-stop action in air, on water and high ways. Phobias, addiction, survivor guilt and a huge dog come together in this book.

Suspense at its fearful best.

Well written. Storyline unfolds in a logical and measured style, all events appear hugely steeped in suspense and fearsome detail. It’s a good read.

Great story

This is a heart gripping tale. As it skips from the Dad trying to get to his daughter to his wife frantically seeking shelter, you want to read faster to find out what happens next. I am looking forward to reading more stories by this author.

Jack, former doctor, is out of town when the US is struck by nuclear bombs. Follow his tale and that of his wife Karen and daughter Emily trying to reconnect and survive.

Very entertaining book about the aftermath of a nuclear attack on the west coast. This is the first book in a three-book trilogy (Shock Wave and Year Zero are also available now). This is a very short book which provides enough information that you can't wait to read the next two.

Good read

This subject matter has always intrigued me, in a horrified hope to heck it never happens kind of way. This is a great beginning to an interesting story. Highly enjoyed reading this.

Very good

I like the book I do not like this new way of making a while book like a serial so that we have to pay several times for new installments.
