I thoroughly and truly enjoyed the first two installments in the series. But series come and series go, and this one is a goner for me. At least for now.
My reason is two-fold. First, a not insignificant portion of the book was dedicated to setting up the ménage relationship in the next installment (at least what I presume will be a ménage). This wasn't a long book, friends, and their dynamics got way too much page time. Even if I found the ménage appealing, it always irritates me when a secondary couple jockeys for position with the main couple.
As for the main couple? Rory and Magnus' story felt too rushed - perhaps because of the short length or perhaps because other characters were so present - and I ultimately didn't believe in their love. The entire relationship made me uncomfortable. The focus was on Rory hurting Magnus, and how Rory didn't deserve Magnus, and how he needed to make himself deserving of Magnus. Um, what about how Magnus hurt Rory? I actually do think that Rory had a right to some sadness and anger, especially considering the circumstances of his foolish but not malicious departure. Magnus' inability to feel regret or otherwise empathize with Rory didn't sit well with me, and he seemed a-okay with his life without Rory until he had a traumatic experience. While I was sad to learn what happened to Magnus, the story didn't change my mind regarding his inability to be a devoted partner to Rory. And I really wish it had.
I may check back into the series after the ménage book because the author has crafted some engaging stories. But the themes in this book, as well as those hinted for the next one, don't work for me.

4 Stars!
This one was short but I didn't feel like I was missing anything like I usually do when I read books under 200 pages. I think having had this couple in the previous books which had touched a bit on who they were to each other helped.
Rory and Maggie (as Rory likes to call him) were together back in the day but a call from home (Scotland) has Rory ending things and thinking it's for the best. He can't take Magnus with him and a long distance relationship won't work for resason's Rory hasn't told anyone about.
Magnus is an ex porn star who now own's his own business running a successful night club. But leaving the porn business behind had a lot more to do with being so far away from his family and missing them. There are more troubling reasons and they seemed to have come back to stalk him. Literally.
Now that both men are back home it's hard for both of them to keep their distance. The pull to be near each other is strong and only getting stronger the more the Rourke family keeps putting them together.
The chemistry was spot on with these two and the angst was short lived which I was happy for because this book was too short to let it play out too long. It was good to finally find out why these two had ended things and even better to see them come back together.
I can't wait for the next one. Older brother has got some serious issues and I wanna delve all into them.

An easy to read, second-chance romance. A little angst to deal with but everything gets wrapped up in a neat bow. These two have been dancing around each other since book 1 so I wouldn't say this is a standalone, as their relationship moves pretty quickly.
All in all, not my fave of the series but I'm still ready to read more. Hoping the next book is Rocco, Vidar and Niko!!!!

Hmmmmm.... 🤔
This was rather short and this past that comes back to haunt Magnus? Played such a small and rather insignificant role in the grand scheme of things. Was rather disappointed 😑
I get that it’s a second chance romance but argh, I didn’t get their connection and the pull for reconciliation because it wasn’t fleshed out well enough. One chapter they were not talking. Another chapter they were trying to be friends (although it’s like a time jump of several months later) then a couple of chapters later, they’re wanting to try being together again. We weren’t even privy to their history until much later 😳
So yeah, this wasn’t as good as the previous two books 😟

This book was good, but not my favorite of the series....
I still love Theo and Harbor the most.
Anyways, I just kind of felt like there was so much that these two went through that could have been avoided with a freaking conversation. I know we need some angst in the storyline but damn. I just felt bad for both of these guys. Rory had to deal with family issues and it would have helped if he had Magnus on his side and helping him through it all. ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS TELL HIM. And Magnus could have avoided all of that hurt and horrible ex stuff if again... HE JUST TALKED TO HIM... They had some good chemistry and connection with each other but so much missed time for being stupid boys. lol. I'm glad they ended up getting a second chance, but really wish they could have just made it work the first time around. This book was written well and I think the storyline flowed pretty solidly. Even though these two were the main focus of the book there were some heavy signals being thrown as to who is next up in the series. I'm really curious as to how that will all play out and if it will just end up as a couple or throuple next. I am intrigued and will be waiting expectantly for that book. Still think this book is worthy of 4 stars even for it not being my favorite.

I really, really liked this one. I’ve been dying to find out what happened between Rory and Magnus and it was sad but I was glad it wasn’t anything tragic for them personally. It seems they needed to wait for their individual resentments to die down before they finally try to get back together. Magnus’s past returns, bringing trouble but this time Rory is there to help him. Second chance tropes are always better when there aren’t dramatic breakups or fights over some undisclosed secret and the author always satisfies me in that respect. All her characters act like adults and have reasonable conversations and discussions. She still gives the plot enough tension and conflict to keep the plot absorbing without adding contrived strife between the MC’s. I’ll continue to follow this series since I also enjoy the mix of Tattoos and MMA gym. Great mild angst level, decent heat and good plot.

I really enjoyed MATCHED INTENSITY and both Rory and Magnus were such sweethearts. They've known each other practically their whole lives but it all fell apart when Rory had to move back to Scotland. They never stopped loving each other even while they each tried to move on.
I enjoyed watching these two open up to each other and earn their second chance. Like Michelle Frost's other books, the angst is pretty low in this one and Rory and Magnus resolve things quickly.

Finally we get Rory and Magnus' story and I enjoyed it!
I read this about a week ago so my thoughts are all over the place about it but I do know that it captured perfectly the second chance at love for these two men all without unnecessary angst or drama.
This might be due to how short this author likes to keep her books but whatever be the case, I liked it!

Matched Intensity by Michelle Frost is the third book in the Open Wounds Series. It's a second chance romance between, bar owner, Magnus Rourke and fight trainer, Rory Wilson. They grew up together and were teenage sweethearts... Until something shattered their connection.
I loved the first two books in the series! Michelle Frost made me fall head over heels in love with each and every character. The Rourke brothers and their friends are a special bunch. All unique and smoking hot. Especially Magnus and Rory, who taunted me with all their pent up tension and sexual chemistry throughout the books. I literally felt it all.
I wanted them to let loose and get it on!!
After I finished, Take Down, I was impatiently waiting for their story. I desperately needed to know what the hell happened between. What caused all the animosity and heartache??
I had mentally prepared myself for one hell of a ride, filled with fireworks and a rollercoaster of emotions. Matched Intensity was the opposite. It had minimal angst and a steady even pace. The plot did intensify and heat up towards the end of the book. I would have liked a glimpses into the guy's past to see how and where it all began and ended for them......
I truly did enjoy Magnus and Rory. They are both wonderful in their own way. Don't tell Mags, but I love Rory just a bit more! He is the best! Protective, sincere and loyal. Their story was good, I was just expecting something different.
All of The Rourke Crew were front and center throughout. I throughly adored catching up with them. All their love, devotion and antics continued to put a smile on my face. Michelle introduced us to some new interesting characters... I hope we will get to see more of them. She cleverly dropped enough hints to set us up for book 4. Bring on Vidar's story.

This was an intense book filled with anger, pain, heartbreak and, of course, love. Magnus and Rory had a lot to work through but they stuck it out and came out strong. I really enjoyed their story.
I really can't wait for Vidar's book. The mysterious older brother.

I was so happy we got Rory and Magnus’s story next!
I wanted to know their backstory so bad. It was a bit heartbreaking. They still had the spark. I read this book so quick it was perfectly paced. Now I’m ready for book 4!

Enjoyed Rory and Magnus' story. Glad they found their way back to each other. This wasn't quite as fluffy as the previous story, which I liked. Looking forward to Vidar's story next.

Family and secrets tore them apart years ago, the same thing brings them back together. Rory and Magnus have always known there was only one man who could own their soul, but with all the hurt they might not be able to trust one another with their hearts again. Finally willing to let down their walls and aim for a new normal, they're at the cusp of beginning something different, better than they had when they were young. Except a dangerous past comes calling and might keep them from the future they both hoped to forge anew.
Rory had my heart from day one with his fierceness, loyalty, brooding, and quiet strength and love for the Rourkes. It was clear that he wanted something from Magnus but didn't believe he could have it and was therefore punishing himself. The impression I had up to this point was that it was Magnus keeping them apart despite Rory's disappearance for a decade. What we learned here was much more complicated, frustrating, and heartbreaking.
Magnus was the aloof, brooding, and proud brother that was almost more of a mystery to me than Vidar. The Magnus I met here was nothing like what I imagined up to this point. I don't know if I like this version better, to be honest. I will say that I did like how he stuck up for himself, got help, and was trying for honesty with Rory in a way that he was holding back before.
There were so many unanswered questions in this book that I'm feeling quite conflicted about Magnus as well as the relationship's struggles. My feelings are unresolved by the end and while I do like the men together and have so much hope and love for them going forward, I feel that there's a whole foundation and background that is lacking. What is this huge, hurtful outburst that happened a year and a half ago? We didn't get that in Carry & Drag so I'm left mystified about their initial reunion. What made Magnus go from modeling to porn and why did he make that decision? I don't remember reading that anywhere before. Magnus' pride in his porn career is fine, I don't really have a problem with that choice, but it doesn't feel like pride so much as bravado and familial acceptance of his choice.
Overall, this was a good story and I'm so very glad Rory got the man he always wanted, that his heart could truly heal. I appreciated Rory's honesty regarding Magnus' career consequences and felt that was the most believable outlook he could have had. The drama was suitably built up but the resolution was a little too clean and quick using something like a deus ex machina, or maybe more like a Rory and Tom ex machina, and it felt a bit cheap and rushed. I just feel such a disconnect from Magnus as an individual and from their relationship that I had a hard time coming to terms with their history in order to feel fully invested in their future. Doesn't mean the story was bad, not at all, it just left me conflicted rather than satisfied.

WTF? I hate this.
I'm going to write a short story on my thoughts while reading this:
- We are on our way and taking our time. We talked about where we were going before we started, but now that we are on the road, everything is nice and slow. We hit a few pot holes, and we might have come a little too close to the side a few times, but we're good. We keep driving and it's nice. Then a storm comes out of nowhere and a tornado sweeps up our car. We are flung forward and there's nothing we do can stop it. But just as fast as it arrived, it disappears and we are on the road again moving forward. I'm questioning if I dreamt it all, but that whiplash in my neck is forcing me to accept it. We stop at the next rest and have a cold drink. It's refreshing and it makes me happy I picked you for this journey with me. We're back on the road but we a driving faster than before. That's okay, I can do this. I look over to you and you slap me. I love you too. -
I don't this story. Well, I did until like chapter 12. Then everything hits the ceiling and I'm annoyed with this author (again). Things happen and there wasn't enough set up for it, at least not for the part that mattered . Then everything is concluded and it doesn't feel earned. It just ends. I hate this. The amount of time we, the reader, is in the dark about something is insane. Vidar's story needs to fuck off from these books. He is way more interesting than everyone else is and has way too much "screen time" for not being the main character. Novellas shouldn't be using so much of our time on things that are irrelevant to the story at hand. Which reminds me, this author needs to learn that flashbacks are a thing, and this story needed them for it to work for me. Which is why I wrote the little story at the start of this review. It feels like the author can't look backwards, and we are constantly moving forwards in time, never back. This isn't real life, show us the past.

4.25 Stars!
Matched Intensity is book 3 in the Open Wounds series and it can technically be read as a standalone, which is what I did. However, I think the experience will be better if you read the series in order. There are a lot of recurring characters and while I didn't feel lost, I am going to go back and read book 1, which I already have, and pick book 2, which I don't.
Magnus and Rory were boyfriends in their teenage years and broke up when Rory had to go back to take care of his family. Now, many years later, they're both back home and they have a second chance at love, will they take it?
I really liked Magnus and Rory, they were fun, caring, loving men with a deeply-ingrained sense of family and friendship. They had amazing chemistry and even if they were sort of at odds when the book started, Rory was willing to do whatever it took to get Magnus back and Magnus was willing to forgive and listen to Rory when the time was right. They took things slow, but it didn't feel as if the story dragged since there were other things going on. And of course, the chemistry between them was scorching hot!
I loved getting to meet Magnus's brothers, Luca, Niko and Rocco and I'm already looking forward to Luca's story and hopefully Vidar, Niko and Rocco's in the future? Pretty please? I have a feeling those three would set my kindle on fire.
While there were a few things that didn't quite work for me, mostly Magnus's stalker's storyline was a bit underdeveloped for my taste, almost like an afterthought, I really enjoyed the writing and I loved the characters, so I'll be going back for more and catch up with the series. Matched Intensity is book 3 in the Open Wounds series and it can technically be read as a standalone, which is what I did. However, I think the experience will be better if you read the series in order. There are a lot of recurring characters and while I didn't feel lost, I am going to go back and read book 1, which I already have, and pick book 2, which I don't.
Magnus and Rory were boyfriends in their teenage years and broke up when Rory had to go back to take care of his family. Now, many years later, they're both back home and they have a second chance at love, will they take it?
I really liked Magnus and Rory, they were fun, caring, loving men with a deeply-ingrained sense of family and friendship. 3.75* Matched Intensity is the third book in the Open Wounds series by Michelle Frost. Each book in the series follows a new couple but the other characters show up often, so this cannot be read as a standalone. Matched Intensity is a shorter story with a second chance romance for Magnus Rourke and Rory Wilson. Magnus and Rory were super close growing up and always expected to be together, but when Rory suddenly broke up with Magnus with no stated reason, both would have to fight and work through their resentments to get their HEA.
This was a good story overall and I really enjoyed the characters and seeing their connection to each other. However, it didn't end up being my favorite of the series so far. I just felt like I was missing information for the first half of the book. Both Rory and Magnus gave insights in to their respective pasts and talked quite a bit about their issues and fights and break up, but there weren't really any details on what happened to them until much later in the story.
Was a good short story that I would recommend to those who have enjoyed this series so far. Am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!

WOW Fantastic story with all the feels!!!! I love Rory and Magnus's second chance at love. I felt their pain and loss as the story began and hoped for a chance for them to find a way back to each other. I so enjoyed the sweet slow burn of this story-line as they heal their hearts and souls. i felt just about every emotion with this story, and for me that is one of the marks of wonderful writing, it totally pulls you into the story.
I love that the family comes together to support each other and find a way to work together to resolve the challenges. It was wonderful to see a bit of of Dagen & Ollie, Harbor and Theo, brought back wonderful memories from the previous books.
This story could be read as a stand-alone, however so much of the character development has been done in the previous books, i would strongly recommend reading this book in the order of the series. You will be thankful you read them all! I am so ready for the next book in this series and this one has just released... waiting will be worth it.

We finally get Magnus and Rory’s story and see their HEA
This was a good book but, for me, not as good as the others (the others are 4 stars for me, but this is a 3.5 that I'm rounding up). Maybe it’s because I’m not a massive fan of second chance books because I have found, and I’m not sure this one didn’t fall into that trap, that they centre around a big misunderstanding which really never would have happened if the characters talked. Don’t get me wrong, Magnus and Rory were right for each other and I was glad to see their story and have them find their HEA. We’ve seen the build up for them and it was really nice to see it play out here. I also liked that we had a bit of a turn around. Initially I wasn’t a massive fan of Magnus (he came across as cold) but we saw a different side to him in this book which I was grateful for. I don’t think I would have liked Magnus and Rory together if Magnus had stayed aloof. Overall, I liked this one and for lots of people I’m sure it would be a great read, but it didn’t quite hit the same spot as the others.

Magnus and Rory's second chance romance hit me right in the heart, and I was thrilled to see the two of them find their way back together after so many years. I wasn't expecting their reunion to be quite so soft and sweet, but after all the chaos going on with the Rourke brothers it was nice to have something quiet and sure to return to. I appreciate that Magnus and Rory didn't throw themselves full-speed ahead into a relationship and instead let things build naturally over time. The slower pace gave me a chance to see how they'd grown as individuals and keep a close eye on the threads of a suspense plot building in the background. I wasn't expecting Magnus's bar troubles to be tied up in the monster from his past, but it was satisfying to see the way Magnus's support network rallied around him to keep him safe and sound. Now all that's left is to see which lucky man (men?) will sway Vidar away from his no-relationship stance, and I can't wait to watch it all unfold!

I’d been intrigued about Rory and Magnus since the series started with the way they danced around each other, ignored each other and the plain old UST that was simmering between them since the off. These two had to have an interesting past and this latest instalment didn’t disappoint in telling the story of their journey.
I really liked both characters and I so badly wanted them to get their HEA, but there’s past hurts to overcome which run deep for the both of them. I adored watching them tentatively learn to be in each other’s orbit once more, and really begin to communicate.
I also enjoyed the feeling of brotherhood and camaraderie that this series brings, and this book was no exception; all the guys had strong ties between them and such a great bond that you knew they’d do anything for each other. It was great catching up with characters from the other two books and it’s got me really ramped up for Vidar’s story.

I really liked the latest book in the Open Wounds Series!! This is the story of Magnus and Rory. We finally get their backstory and it was so sad. They definitely needed that time apart so when they came back together it made their commitment so much stronger. They are working on building their relationship when Magnus' past comes back to stir up trouble. Rory will not let Magnus go through it alone and will stand right beside him to make the threat go away. It was such a good read....I laughed, swooned, and teared up a time or two. I am a sucker for second chance romances and their story delivered and then some. I would recommend this book to all especially if you love second chances like me. I can't wait for the next book in this series and from the glimpse I got in this book its going to be sooo good!!! Well done!!!!

I loved the first two books in this series but I was a little disappointed with Matched Intensity and it is just an okay read for me. I think if the book had been longer and had more about Rory and Magnus' history together I would have liked it more. The conflict between them was resolved a little too easily and with little angst. They also lacked chemistry and I didn't think they had a strong connection. The focus seemed to be more on Vidar, Rocco and Niko than on Rory and Magnus which was a little confusing. The best part of this story was catching up with the couples from the previous books and I still love the family dynamic between the brothers. I am not ready to give up on this series so I will be reading the next book even though I am not a fan of MMM stories.

3 1/2* could have been better
This story could have been told sooooooo much better especially with how great the others were told. For one, the Rourke brother were all described larger than life but it seems Magnus' persona was down graded too much to my liking. He was made to sound like a twink in his own story where he wasn't described that way when introduced in the first book. Also what disappointed me was how he went from a scared shaking mouse to perfectly fine after he said two words to Rory about what happened in the past. It all sounded so lame and weak. Even the whole story of why Rory left. There really should have been more added to that story or clarification. Please don't downgrade Vidar's character... He is all alpha male and he should remain that way...even when he falls in love, don't make him a wuss...

Second chances
I read the first book in this series, but somehow missed the second one. It isn't necessary to have read it before reading this one, but I do want to go back and read it for the sake of enjoying another well written story.
Rory and Magnus were childhood sweethearts that separated for years. They need to come to terms with their time apart and the choices that they made. They still love each other, but need some closure before anything can happen.
I really enjoyed this book and loved the characters. I'm happy that I found this series again and I can't wait to read the stories of the rest of the guys.

Second chance soulmates!
I am really enjoying this series. These books are easy reads and cut right to the point. This one has a bit more angst as Rory and Magnus work through a painful past together, but once they decide to work things out they’re both all in. I like that this story was short, but I also wouldn’t have complained if it was longer. There was a lot covered in less than 200 pages. But I also just wanted more time with these two because they’re so sweet together and I wanted to learn more about their past together falling in love as teenagers. Regardless, it was a fun short story with lots of cameos from previous characters.
The next book is finally Vidar’s story, so I’m jumping right in!

A gritty, sex-positive mm romance
This is a mm gritty romance, the third in a series that must be read in order. Magnus and Rory are major side characters in the first two books with this antagonistic unspoken rift between these former lovers and it made me insanely curious as to what happened! It was such a compelling and poignant story of second-chances and in a way redemption. There are some triggers though like intimate partner abuse but it was written in such a way that it’s needed. I think that the author did such a beautiful and gentle touch of the subject matter in such a way that yes, I cried but it’s something we all need to help champion against, help give voices to all hurt not just those who “look” weaker. I definitely recommend this book and series!

Really loving this series!
4.5 Stars...This is the third book in the Open Wounds series. It came out several hours ago...I just finished it...and I want book four now! Frost does such a great job with character development that these MCs, Rory and Magnus, become real people that I empathize with, care about and want to see get their HEA.
Not only do we finally learn the back story between these two that’s been alluded to in the previous two books but we get more informations on characters we’ve already met and are introduced to new characters who I assume will people future books. It’s a great universe being built here and I look forward to more books telling the tales.

Michelle did it again with this book! I was amazing, heartwarming and an incredible read to experience.
We finally got Rory and Magnus’s story. We have seen them dance around each other for two books now. Wondering what their story was. And now we finally got it! And what’s story it is.
It’s starts as a truce, maybe a friendship, maybe more. Both men have a lot of hurt to get over, but they end up doing it together. Because when you meet your “one” at a young age but spend years apart the love never changes, never fades, it just waits for the right time. And this is their time, so they can finally get their happy ending!

I received this book by the author and this is my honest opinion.
This is book three of the series but the first book for me that I've read and it was great. I thought I might be a bit lost and floundering about but that was not the case as the author detailed the story well so I felt I didn't miss out on anything. I liked magnus and rory and there second chance at love and all the unveiling secrets of the past which led to them going there seperate ways. Now wiser and older they try again though it's a slow burner but it was emotional and gripping. The story was great with free flowing writing it was a pleasure to read
