Second Chance #2

My Redemption

Rate this book
I’m in love with my neighbor. Typical, I know.

God, it was stupid of me to let my guard down, but I did. If you knew him, though, you wouldn’t blame me.

The man is everything you never thought you needed and everything you’ve always wanted. He’s smart, sexy as hell, funny... Did I say sexy? He’s a great listener, he loves football, which is a plus, and he saves lives for a living. What more could a woman want, right?

The man is also just an all-around good guy, a boy scout in every since of the word. It was easy to get to know him, to open up to him. He became my best friend in a matter of weeks. No wait, best friend? Hell, scratch that, he’s my soulmate.

Crazy, right?

Also, he’s the complete opposite of what I usually go for, and yet I can’t stop thinking about him. The way he walks, his scrumptious scent, the sound of his sexy as sin voice, those dimples, and, f@*k, that panty dropping smile of his.

So, don’t you see? I’m in trouble.

I’m in love with my soulmate, my best friend, and there’s nothing I can do about it.

Not a damn thing!

F@*K MY LIFE!

Lauren and Paul

I absolutely loved this book. Paul a stay as sin firefighter, losing this battle with the flames that he has burning for Lauren. Lauren too felt the fire for Paul. The moment they met. Love this book. I can't wait to read book 2

Uhhhhhh this book is transphobic as fuck????? Surprised that a grown woman in 2018 would write this and that it would be published...in 2018??? Can you come up with something else?

Big fan of S.K. Lessly's stuff, as I've said before. I'll read anything she puts out. I was eager to get started on My Redemption. I really like how the heroine, Lauren, talks directly to the reader when expressing what she's feeling and thinking inside. Her attraction to what turns out to be her next door neighbor, Paul, is pretty instant. Actually, it's pretty instant between the both of them, but they tread very lightly and conservatively given that both are married. Their relationship of longing remains one of friendship for quite awhile, but you'll see, I was a bit disappointed about how the respective spouses become exes and clear the way for Paul and Lauren to be together. Why demonize them? I think in real life, couples splitting up is a lot less dramatic than that and most of the time, growing apart is just exactly what it is..growing a part. Nobody doing crazy things to destroy the other person. Yeah, people cheat and lie, of course, but what I guess I'm trying to say is that the story would have been more interesting if the spouses of Paul and Lauren weren't made so damn unlikeable. Otherwise, I did enjoy the story and of course, there's some mega hot love scenes. Paul is a dreamboat. Well written, complicated characters. I like Lauren, but why her family so messed up. She's a university professor, an Ivy league graduate and they really view her as a failure? Strange Black family lol Okay, anyway, I'm looking forward to reading book 2 and see what happens with Paul and Lauren's relationship. 3.5 stars.

Definitely a Good Read!

This is a wonderful book! Paul and Lauren were magic! This story was well crafted, had plenty of humor and a shocking twist! I will admit I was a little skeptical about this book. I couldn’t imagine how you write a romance story for two people who are already married...to other people? As a married woman myself, I was nervous but, Ms. Lessly not only pulled it off but, she perfected it! The way it was written, you got a chance to really see the relationship between Paul and Lauren develop w/o it being rushed or taking so long that the book got boring. The way their respective marriages crumbled and how the dealt with it and found something in each other. The balance of love, sadness, humor and smoking hot sex was perfect. Definitely a Good Read!

OMG SK Lessly.....WHYYYYY!!!!

I can't wait for December 31st to get here! I HATE CLIFFHANGERS! Just when the story is getting good....BOOM. I loved this story. I wanna see Paul and Lauren get their HEA. And I wanna know who is casing out Lauren's house? Is it her ex Sebastian, is it the guy she met at the bar, is it Manly? Why is he stalking?

I could slap Paul and Lauren upside the head. Both of them make rash decisions. They were instantly attracted to each other when the first met the night that Lauren had a flat tire. They became instant friends when they interacted with their ten-some group of friends. Even though they felt that attraction to each other, neither crossed the line even though they were both in loveless and dead marriages. I wanna know, why in the hell did Sebastian choose to get married in the first place? Was he in denial or was he just using Lauren as his beard? I hope that is covered in part 2.

I hope to see Lauren make up with her family, although I think she was right to do to her prick of a brother William what she did. Lauren was made to feel like she was never a part of her family. I felt so heartbroken for her in that scene. Her sister was wrong for what she did, but I blame her parents for allowing William aka Brian to belittle his sister for years. At least Mark told her what happened later after she left, that at least, made me feel a little better about that scene. I could feel her hurt. Hell, I wanted to kick Brian in the balls myself, I got so flustered reading that.

With all of that said, I loved the story and I was glad to see that Paul and Lauren became good friends before taking it to the next level. Even though they thought they were moving too fast and not closing an old chapter before moving on, both marriages were dead and they were all living apart before anything happened with each other. But...when they did finally give in to temptation, it was on fiyah. The chemistry was HOT HOT HOT. Neither one thought that they could feel and respond the way they did with each other. But that damned party was the nail in the coffin. I can't wait to find out what else will happen with these two.

Such a good story and despite ending on a mini cliffhanger it was really interesting and not rushed.
Paul and Lauren meet one night when she has car trouble. Weeks later they find out they’re neighbours and unbeknownst to each other are both in unhappy marriages. Despite this they form a friendship with mutual underlying attraction to each other but unwilling to break their marriage vows.

I really enjoy this author's work. I like the couple and I can see how the story's premise can happen in real life and how difficult these issues are when you are already married or in a relationship. The story is very long and goes on to book 2. I really believe this story could have been told in one book. It is definitely worth a read.

Long winded....for what?
The drama ok but the second guessing boring.
Just talk and thought too much. Both of them.
Her family dynamic were that of a white family problems ...erky
Soooo long then there's more blah....

I'm sorry to be harsh, but this was not a good book. For one, there was little to no character development. I barely understood why the characters behaved the way they did other than that's what the plot called for. They all felt like caricatures and not real people. And, because no one felt like a real person, there was zero incentive to want the two main characters to be together. There's more to a story than gratuitous sex scenes because even the sex has to be earned and, in this case, it wasn't.

There are pages and pages of the author telling us what wonderful friends the couples are, or how strained someone else's relationship is. Stop telling me what's happening and show me. When we did get scenes and dialogue it was stilted. There's also one particular scene involving the character Sebastian that is just downright offensive, awful and juvenile in its portrayal of an already marginalized group.

I think this author has what it takes to write a good novel, but this here simply isn't it.

What Happened

I didn't enjoy this one and I love reading S.K. books but this one couldn't compare to the others. I wasn't engrossed or captivated. I found myself skipping through the book and just reading the dialogue. Is like what happened!!!???

This was a good story. I like stories that are about everyday people. Billionaires are fine, but there s something about everyday people as well. There were some typo's, noticeable ones at that. My last complaint is the book was a little too long. Some things we didn't need that much detail. But all in all this was a pretty good story

Underwhelming

The book has an extremely slow start before you get to the semi-climatic part. There is a bunch of immature language and behaviors you would expect in a teen romance. I kept skimming through the story looking for actual dialogue between the main characters.

The story line was good but took a while to get started. The plot was stretched out and then ends on a cliff hanger. Crazy

My Redemption

Paula and Lauren chemistry was hot from the beginning. I hate all craziness they've had to endure so far. They both impulsive and a tad bit childish with how they are handling their current situation. I'm rooting for them though. After dealing with the crazy spouses like they had I could understand them being a little irrational.I don't like Tanks wife, amy, david, sabrina, or sebastian. I don't trust Eugene either. And who is watching Lauren's house.

I jumped to the end

This book was moving too slow for me. I was at 33% and just jumped to the end to figure out what happened. I am not interested in part 2 or 3 if there is one. This could have been one and done in one book. Smh. Why are we dragging these stories out?

Is part 3 necessary?

I really love reading from Paul's POV. Lauren is unsettling at times. I think their story could have been finished in one book.

WOW! And double WOW....

This right here! My goodness, this right here, was the story, or shall I say is the story since I am starting the second part, and so I will be able to speak about what and how this author found a way to spin this beautiful story.
Man Lauren and Paul, wow, what a couple! What a group of people....
Paul was such a gentlemen even though he saw her and ended up knowing who she was the moment he walked up to her, he realized that there were circumstances not letting him act upon his feelings, and ...
Lauren was wow... A girl after my own heart with her love of football(I love the game the same and I am a women). She was a breath of fresh air, a wonderful mix to this and definitely a much needed heroine to this story. She didn't know who Paul was and she still felt something so strong that it required a huge "woosa" moment for her.
Sebastian was such a wuss and Sabrina really a huge brat. Samson, Tonya and Mark were so grounded to the couple, I truly wish they take their advice quickly and get on with their lives. And what's up with Eugene, what's up with that? Man nice twist...
So yes, this was a huge wow moment and a wonderful story to have been written and share with us, the readers....

Paul & Lauren' s journey

I am not sure what Paul meant at the very end, however I'm hoping what I'm thinking he is referring to is exactly what I'm thinking. ... :)
This is a very long book, but it is very good, full of Intrigues ...
You know, not in a million year would I ever guess Sebastian 's "reason", I don't want to spoil it. That was a big one for me!! Wow!!
I almost thrown my tablet away ,:when Paul reacted the way he did with Sabrina in the kitchen... Thank God, he knew better. Who the he'll brings an ex to stay in your house when you are starting knew with someone else? Men are so fucking dumb!! Duh!! I don't get him, and the way he is reacting... He needs to put himself in her shoes for a minute and see the whole fucking picture and stop his pity party of ONE !
I love Paul, a nice guy, too nice sometimes, but he better DO BETTER WHERE LAUREN IS CONCERNED!
I can't wait to discover all Kelly's family secrets! And learn more about the Logan's .
Sabrina, Amy and Sebastian and mr "Stalker The Creep" , I'm hoping that you will meet with Ms Karma the Bitch!!

Good book

Good book but had I known it was a cliffhanger I would have waited before I made my purchase. I dnt do cliffhangers. To me, it's just another way to get my money and they are never released when scheduled. I recommend reading this book. It is quite interesting; however, I dnt recommend reading it until parr two is released. This is the last time I will read a book before the reviews. Had a waited for a review I would have known it was a cliffhanger. Other than that and a few grammatical errors the book is pretty good but Lauren is nerve wracking and can't be reasoned with. Terrible traits, especially in a collegiate professor, which is what her profession is in the book. Paul is a much likable character but he has issues too. Anywho, a good book. I recommend it but not unitl book 2 is released.

Redemption

Wow, this book had me all up on my feelings. I had to read this and not speak to anyone, I was so invested. I Loved both Paul and Lauren. The fact that they were so connected before they even knew each other is the epitome of fate and soul mates. I knew from the beginning that Sebastian was hiding something from Lauren, and without giving any thing away, I knew that poor Lauren was too naive and trusting. I loved how Ms Lessly developed the characters and got you invested in all of them. That was some funny s**t with Lauren, Sebastian and Amy, I think I'd be right in line with her on that one. I know that there is a lot of mess still to be had, and that new dark character scares me for Lauren. I'm looking forward to the sequel. My stomach is now in a knot, waiting to see what's what.

Great

Oh my what a great story that I have really enjoyed. They are must reads by this author. I'm a fan. It has strong and brave women. Men who fight for what they consider is theirs. And of course their steamy connections. There are interesting twists in the story lines; which are fast paced, especially this series, but all them is just as good. so happy I have started binging this author. Each one here are all intriguing with suspenseful plots ending in a cliffhanger. Along with their sizzling hot passions it will keep you turning pages until the end. I enjoyed every moment of their relationships these are ones that I didn't put my Kindle down until I finished the story if are like myself you will enjoy it because are definitely excellent romances.

Sweet sexy Paul

My redemption started off a little slow, more like the back and forth in the relationships had me worried if I would truly enjoy this book. Yes lawd it picked up and became hot and sexy with some lies and more lies. I fell in love with boy scout Paul Logan, but not so boy scout if pushed. I loved his commitment to the person he was with. I liked Lauren but hated her husband and mAjority of her family. I can't wait to see what book 2 will bring cause I want more

My Redemption

Omg I hate cliffhangers. Omg I loved this story. Paul and Lauren. My heart broke for both, and at times I wanted to smack both of them. Can I say her family is mean?? I cheered as she walked out of their house. Heartbreaking that they all showed such blatant disrespect for her.
Paul Logan. That man cherishes, and adores Lauren. She was the ying to his yang, they perfectly fit. I felt awful when they broke up. SK is one of my favorite authors. I am looking forward to the sequel.

Amazing!!!!!!

I loved this book. Sebastian is a whole asshole. Not only is he cheating on Lauren his wife but it's in a whole nother ballpark. He had the nerve to tell her he couldn't get it up, lil nasty bastard. She should have beat her??ass. Lauren and Paul act on impulse instead of thinking out a situation first. That's why they in the unhappy space they in now. Their pride, but I hope they get it together because they are each other soulmate. I hope Lauren's stalker don't hurt her.💕💟

Excellent book with such a realistic timeline and plot. Everything tied together and I liked to read about Paul and Lauren’s past as it occurred instead of a flashback. They both were married neighbours to lovers you could say.

Overall, this book would’ve been higher but from reading the reviews now I know what people meant, because this could’ve been done in one go! Now I have to read another book to see how it ends. But I definitely recommend the book because the spice was definitely spicyyy!

Wow

I loved this entire book. The obvious attraction between Lauren and Paul. The fact that they both stayed true to their spouses despite the pull the felt towards each other. Their relationship was intense and hot. Their friendship was real and based on genuine affection for each other. I loved it all! The only thing I didn't like was that this is a two parter but since we have a set release date I guess I don't mind waiting until the end of the book.

Excited for part two, upset I have to wait though.

Yeah, talk about first encounters!!?? Thought the dead end marriages for both played out too long. The friendship Lauren and Paul developed in the process was priceless but it was just like these two to get in there own way when time came to face the real head on. Hopefully the revelation Paul had in his drive at the end will lead him right back in the road to home. Glad the wait will not be long for me to find out.

Ughhh! December 31st

I can't wait that long. I need my Paul fix asap. I love these two together and they better fix this fast. I can't stand hard headed people, and they both wrote the book on it, but the connection between them is strong enough to fix everything. As hot as they are as a couple, they have no choice. I loved this slow burn romance. Just enough angst in the beginning to make their coming together just perfect. Ohhh, I can't wait!
