...THEY NEED ONLY READ BETWEEN THE LINES
Outrageous! What manner of female would be so completely lacking in principle as to actually put his life in print! I really liked this one; I thought it was definitely one of the better regencies that I’ve read. Our heroine Sarah is in desperate need to provide for her family. Not wanting to go into service she decides to take all the gossip she has heard about the infamous Lord Gaventry and write a novel. Even though the novel actually portrays him as somewhat of a hero and helps to redeem his ruined reputation, he is still furious that his personal life would be put into fiction for everyone to read. He decides to seek out the author and seek revenge. Sarah didn’t use her real name, but her sisters to write her books. When Gaven arrives in town he encounters Sarah not knowing she was the actual author. What ensues is a very fun read. I liked how quick-witted Sarah is, I liked that her character wasn’t kept in the dark about things. I liked that she was proactive in trying to derail Gaven’s plans of revenge. I also liked Gaven, I could understand him being upset, and it did add some good tension-filled moments. I liked the relationship between Gaven and Sarah, they have a good friendship and good chemistry. There are even a lot of stolen kisses! I did wonder a few times where the story was going to go, there were a few twists or plot points that were brought up earlier than I expected. It of course kept me reading and I had a hard time putting it down.

One thing that did drive me a tiny bit nuts was that Sarah’s nickname was Sally and so her name was interchanged with Sally quite a bit. I guess I thought it was a tad confusing and a weird nickname for “Sarah.” I would have liked if she had just been known as Sarah throughout the book.

Overall, I really liked it. I especially liked how clean and lighthearted it was. It was a fun book to read after the current reading slump that I have been in. If you like regencies, give this one a try. Very likable characters and a fun plot.

Content: Clean, some passionate (clean) kissing.

I loved it! This was what actually got me into reading old-English romance novels. A sweet romantic comedy with a happy ending!

One of the better regency novels I've read in a while. The plot is a different twist on the author protagonist as Sarah wrote her story based on the painful, scandalous truths of Lord Gaventry's life.

Believing her sister to have been the authoress, he tries to engage the affections of Sarah's sister, only to lose his own heart to Sarah.

While I liked the characters, the best thing here is the authentic flavor of the language and the lovely brush of descriptions with just the right touch to place me in the world of these characters. I truly enjoyed King's wording and her obvious research.

I would very much like to read more by Ms. King. Enjoyable read.
