Milo is captivated by Viscount Lucien Valammar, a man who claims to be a vampire on the vampire-human matchmaking website dateavampire.com. Though they speak nightly, Milo can’t convince himself that vampires exist, even though his goth roommate TT believes they do. And truly, if anyone could be considered a sexy creature of the night it would be Lucien. But when Lucien tells Milo the story of how he was turned by the cruel and manipulative Master Vampire Xing Chunli, his story has the unmistakable ring of truth to it and Milo must accept the vampires exist! Despite Lucien warning Milo that his vampiric nature makes him dangerous, the two decide to meet in person. Little do they know that Xing is not as much in the past as they think... I was so...disappointed with this one. Again, the plot never really went anywhere. It was more focused on rehashing Lucien's past than exploring the present, sprinkling in mystery that didn't amount to anything. Also, neither of the covers actually has any relevance to the contents. What's that about? It ended on another cliffhanger, with a story that has so much potential but remains unrealised. The plot is so seriously slow that I feel like I could have easily read the entire two volumes in 20 pages. Why is Xing older than the Aztec? Why did Lucien stay with Xing so long, when he'd been forced into his transition with some serious dub-con? Why did he never wonder if Xing had a hand in Aiden's (?) death, or if Aiden might be alive, because Xing plans to torment him with that? Because, it's 100% possible.
Overall, I just felt that it wasn't going anywhere, so why should I continue? I'm not the right person for this slow-burn extraveganza.
I was gushing over them every few pages! I loved more of the backstory about Lucien and I'm excited to see where he goes with Milo. This is my favorite yaoi I've read so far! It's so wholesome and endearing. This story warms my heart and I don't read much that does that. I'm impatiently waiting for Volume 3!
Enjoyed this volume just as much as I did the first one, and I'm upset that I now have to wait for the next volume. TT is still supportive of Milo, even encouraging him to go for it and I like how Milo and Lucien's relationship is going. I found Lucien's backstory engaging and I liked that we got a glimpse of Gregoire within that. Xing is creepy.
I always look forward to this series because I just think it’s a fun concept. It’s not a perfect book, but every time I read it I do find myself rooting for Milo and Lucien and hoping they can figure it out.
