I was so...disappointed with this one. Again, the plot never really went anywhere. It was more focused on rehashing Lucien's past than exploring the present, sprinkling in mystery that didn't amount to anything.
Also, neither of the covers actually has any relevance to the contents. What's that about?
It ended on another cliffhanger, with a story that has so much potential but remains unrealised. The plot is so seriously slow that I feel like I could have easily read the entire two volumes in 20 pages.
Why is Xing older than the Aztec? Why did Lucien stay with Xing so long, when he'd been forced into his transition with some serious dub-con? Why did he never wonder if Xing had a hand in Aiden's (?) death, or if Aiden might be alive, because Xing plans to torment him with that? Because, it's 100% possible.
Overall, I just felt that it wasn't going anywhere, so why should I continue? I'm not the right person for this slow-burn extraveganza.
