Prayer: Key to Revival

Rate this book
Revival comes from prayer.

Today’s church needs an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Early church leaders like Luther, Wesley, Finney and Moody were filled and refilled with the Holy Spirit. Prayer like theirs was the powerful key to every revival throughout Christian history. Whether you’re an ordained minister, a stay-at-home mom, or a new Christian, God can work through you.

Join Yonggi Cho and Wayde Goodall in Prayer, the story of Pastor Cho’s personal life and successful ministry. Readers will
• understand the different types of prayer,
• value the importance of prayer,
• learn why, how, and when to pray,
• cultivate a lifestyle of prayer, and
• receive new revelations of how to listen to the Holy Spirit.

Hear the secrets God desires to share with you and be immersed in His profound love.

"...God taught me to be specific in my petitions. This is how to pray in faith. Do not pray in generalities! Know what you need and write it down! Tell God in detail exactly what you are asking for! Then, begin to confess that you have received it! You may not want to do it in public, but begin to thank God and confess the answer! Remember that what we ask in faith. God will provide." ~ Paul Y. Cho, Prayer: Key to Revival, p. 71.

Excellent book on prayer from the senior pastor of the world's largest congregation in the world of 830,000 claimed membership.

I particularly liked the chapter where his was praying for specific things like a desk, chair and bicycle, but it seemed God was not answering his prayers. He therefore confronted God about why his prayers were not being answered and God basically instructed him to be more specific. Once he was more specific about the desk, chair and bicycle everything came to him in 2 weeks.

This book will inspire you to pray more to bring revival in your life and nation. Prayer is a must at this time in this world. If you want to see changes in this world, then prayer is the answer and this book will encourage you to pray more, often and make an impact.

This has to be the best book on prayer I’ve read and I’ve read a few, desperate to improve my prayer life. The difference I believe is that after reading this book I feel empowered and capable. Whereas after reading other books I somehow finished feeling like a strong and fruitful prayer life was only possible for a select subset of people. I read this book in four short sittings and begin practicing what I read immediately. I also think hearing that the pastor of the largest church in the world has/had challenges in this area is encouragement not to give up.

This book came along at the perfect time. I’m hungry for a personal revival and so that I can have an impact on my hurting community to be a spark for its revival.

I recommend this book to anyone who desires a richer prayer life today.

I got a quarter of the way through this book, and if he mentioned one more time that he pastors the largest church in the world, I was going to scream. This book was recommended in a different (and good!) book on prayer as the best book on prayer, and I was really disappointed. It feels like a generic book on prayer, though I'm not sure what I was expecting. It seems written to the modern man who really wants to feel good. I don't like the liberties he takes with Scripture: how he applies passages and draws certain conclusions. Scripture doesn't need emotional flair.

Although I liked this book when I read it, I did not understand pentecostal movement as much as I do now. I would avoid this book now because of Cho's theology.

One of the first books of prayer I read and almost 30 years later the lessons within this classic book have stayed with me.
