Series started off really well, but slowly got frustrating the further the story went. My biggest problem is the lack of common sense for the main characters. Yes I know that they are all young and inexperienced, but some of the choices they make and the words they say having me wanting to shake them and say ' Don't be an idiot, open your mouth and ask questions, or be truthful. The other problem I had was the lack of continuity. At one point Blake has red eyes and he doesn't want anyone to see so he hides them behind sunglasses. 2 chapters later he's not wearing the shades and there is no mention of his eyes turning back to normal or not. The war scenes also have this same problem, not to mention that the characters talk like the action is going to take place in a short time, but on the next page they talk about 3 months passing.? Definitely falls in the young adult category, great story and character ideas, needs more help editing.

I read the novellas in between the main books too and thought they were great mini-series that worked in sync with the books.
I wish we had more of Elena and Blake in the last few chapters tho but still finished nicely but abruptly.

Absolutely LOVED this series! Even though I think some of the additional spin offs that the author wrote even though they were written great I don't think they were necessary. Once the series ended it that should have been it. I really tried to listen to the additional Darkbeam audiobooks but it seemed a bit to repetitive it was just the same story line but told from the bad boys view instead of the main character in the story. Do I recommend listening to the original series.... Hell Yes I do it really is a great story it covers everything action, suspense, and romance and it will have you on a emotional rollercoaster through out the whole series!

It's not just a book for me. I enjoyed it every step of the way. Love the friendships and of course shapeshifting dragons. ( I mean who wouldn't) . Fell in love with the characters to a point I cried when one of them died in the 2nd book.

So much wasted potential. I couldn't get past the significant amount of errors (even on the back of the book). It's like the publishers never bothered to hire an editor. It dragged out way too far and a lot of the character arcs fell completely flat.

I think this is one of the most underrated high fantasy romance series.
Every single character is well defined and all of them have grown through out the series.

Good series. Expect: YA, YA romance and drama, action, a fun new world, and dragons!. I rate based on genre and with that in mind, this is a good YA fantasy drama. Not the best I've read, but strong. Nothing really happened that I didn't expect, but that's ok. It was compelling enough that I blazed through this series pretty quickly. I like a series that is hard to put down.
