Unraveled World #2

Tempest Song

Rate this book
She thought being human was tough.
But being a siphon is way suckier.

Vera is back home, pretending to be a normal college student. Since there's practically no magic on Earth, she should have her inner monster under control. Only, she's starting to slip up. And when siphon-types lose control, the world falls apart. Literally.

She doesn't dare tell Kale how bad things are getting. He'd lose his overprotective mind. Plus, he might have to kill her. That is his job after all.

Fortunately, there's a guy out there who might be able to help her--a unicorn guy. Kale says it's too dangerous, but guess what? Vera doesn't need his permission to go off-realm. A quick trip for some specialized mojo training and all will be well again.

Kale never has to know.

Book 2 delivered in spades! These characters have expanded even more than I could imagine! After bring given glimpses into parts of their back stories, I am amazed at all the creative ingenuity. Vera and Kales relationship just keep getting more and more complicated and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Mimi and Addamas truly could start a whole other series! Loving this storyline and this authors talent for holding my interest! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.

I totally finished this book in a day, and am now awaiting book 3! Vera never fails to find trouble, but it's pretty hilarious, nonetheless! The imagination that went into this story is uncanny- There's sarcasm, drama, trouble, wit, ass kicking, you name it! Like the first book, there's still enough twists to keep you curious about what outcome is going to happen in the end. I look forward to seeing how all the loose ends are tied up in the third book.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was even more riveting than the first.
I loved how the characters's stories have developed so far. The author revealed small little bits about everyone's backstories and current situations which kept me glued to the book.

Some of the characters's language still doesn't really match who they are but it has definitely improved from book 1. I still would like more information like what is a satyr, a demas, a tempestarii, etc... throughout the text.

There is so much more to this fantasy world and this type of magic to explore. I could even imagine companion novels or novellas with the other characters I have grown so attached to. I am so excited for the next book coming out soon.

Love it when the sequel is as good as book one. Kale and Vera are still denying their feelings for each other and creating a bit of mayhem in the process. I need to read book 3 to see how it all turns out!!!

I can’t say enough about how well written and thoroughly addictive this series is! Be ready, because this review is honestly just me gushing about the things I love. I truly cannot think of any negatives, except that I’m burning through them too quickly and I’m going to have a major book hangover. Booo.

The most amazing thing to me about these books are how the characters come alive on the pages, and for the first time in a long time I’m equally invested in everyone’s story. Of course I can’t get enough of Vera and Kale, but the interplay between them and the supporting characters never feels superficial. Everyone has a part to play, and they’re all important.

Next, the plot line. Although this is more PG than most of the books I read (in action scenes as well as ACTION scenes *wink, wink*), the story weaving is right up there with some of the greatest urban fantasies I’ve read (Jim Butcher, Ilona Andrews, Kim Harrison). The storyline is full of adventures with loads of twists and turns that I was NOT expecting!

Of course all of this couldn’t be accomplished without the world-building. The world created by Ms. Fabel continues to be exceptional, coming through clearly and beautifully in my imagination as I read. Even after finishing the book, my head is still swimming in the fantasy world of Vera and Kale. I can’t wait to delve into the third book, and luckily it comes out on my birthday! Coincidence or Lady Luck? Who knows, but I’m thanking my lucky stars that I don’t have to wait too long!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Reading the first book was a journey. The writing and world building was phenomenal. This book just builds on that.

Veras travels are so entertaining I think Fabel could write ten books in this series without it getting old. Her relationships build pretty steadily. And the twists and turns will keep you thirsting for the reveals.

The only reason this book has three stars is due the unusual breaks from the authors normally seamless writing. Having an ancient demon horse say “Interestinger” really kicks you out of the flow of the novel. And while Vera is a well spoken modern girl, she never speaks as though she’s forty years older than she should be, Fabel always nabs her mannerisms however she had a few spells of : “Not a single one of them wanted all her awesomeness in their life. Boom!” And there were a few points where it felt as if it had been a young girl saying those things rather than the strong and articulate protagonist we had grown to love.

Overall, I would recommend reading for anyone who loves an easy fantasy read with a slow burn thrown in there.

I am completely addicted!! Great sequel to the first, the book flowed way better than the first (don’t get me wrong, the first is still definitely worth the time to read 😉), and we get to see farther into who Vera really is (besides learning some important facts about the other characters that surround her). I have already delved into the third book, as I am anxious to see how hottie Scotchie fairs, but I know Vera and the gang will help him out.

Good story line

I loved the story line of this series so far. I’ve never been a huge fan of profanity scattered through a book that really didn’t need to be there or would’ve given a higher rating.
