FROM BESTSELLING AUTHOR MORTICIA KNIGHT

Book nine in the Kiss of Leather series

Cruella can’t wait to show Ray the ropes…

Working at Rogue Ink is a dream job for Cruella, especially being around the hunky co-owner, Ray. Even though the money isn’t great, the eye candy and Ray’s caring heart make it all worthwhile. When Cruella risks rejection by inviting Ray to be their partner for a shibari class at Kiss of Leather, they’re thrilled when Ray accepts.

Cruella’s invitation both excites and terrifies Ray. He wants Cruella, but does he also want to become more kink aware? Still, he could kick himself for not already making a move on the sweet and beautiful Cruella, so maybe this is his chance. His protective instincts have gotten him into serious trouble before, so he’ll be sure not to make the same mistake with Cruella. They’ve made it clear they can take care of themself.

Cruella fears that Ray won’t accept their genderqueer identity and Ray aches to be the strong man Cruella needs. However, when Cruella’s dark past intrudes on their blissful present, Ray’s definition of strength might turn out to be harsher than Cruella is willing to accept.

Reader advisory: This book contains a brief scene of violence, references to eating disorders and the mention of a past abusive relationship.

I didn’t know what to expect of this ninth installment in the ‘Kiss of Leather’ series by Morticia Knight. I had been intrigued by Cruella when I met them in Liam and Neal’s story (book six) but, to be honest, had forgotten about them until I read the blurb for this book. Having not yet read a full-length story with a nonbinary individual as a main character, I was interested to see what I might learn and take away from their tale. The fact that Ray is covered in tattoos and screams “bad boy” but obviously has a sweet and gentle nature made my interest really grow.

Cruella and Ray are so cute in how they’ve both been interested in the other for months now, but both are so tongue-tied, shy, and simply positive that the other wouldn’t (couldn’t!) possibly feel the same, that neither of them has gotten up the courage to even ask the other on a date. It was rather adorable how it ended up happening, to be honest. The fact that Cruella signed up for an intro to shibari class at Kiss of Leather mainly because they find the rope work to be beautiful only to discover, after they begin with Ray as their partner, that their inner Dom is interested in learning more about the BDSM lifestyle was an exciting journey to join them (and Ray) on. Ray is equally startled to discover how safe and secure he feels when Cruella binds him with their ropes. I certainly enjoyed the dichotomy of the big, strong, muscled, tattooed, guy being submissive and the genderqueer, dainty, feminine, man being the one in control.

Tied Together with Love!

Non-binary Cruella & Ray gets their love story. I like the MCs, even though I think Ray’s character was somewhat underdeveloped.
I also don’t get grown men unable to string together complete sentences (a common theme...the tongue tried male). I understand the silent type but 30s or 40s tongue tied, not buying it.
I enjoyed the exploration of kinks and non-binary persons are intriguing to me. They usual portrayed all-round beautifully.
Finally, what happened to the antagonist, he give up?
Overall, a sweet romance with many of familiar characters from previous book.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the ninth book in the series, and whilst this could be read as a standalone, there are references to events in previous books, and one very important event which involves the couple from the very first book, when Kiss of Leather hadn't even opened.

We soon learn that Cruella is getting back on track after leaving a toxic relationship. Mindful of this, their boss Ray has not pushed for the date that he so wants with them. But finally the stars align, and maybe, just maybe they will both get exactly what they want - even if they are not able to be open with each other about their desires. Luckily a shibori class that Cruella is taking means they need a partner, and Ray is the man they ask to join them. Here starts a voyage of discovery for them both, both in everyday life and when behind closed doors.

This was a good mix of a new relationship, and a great opportunity to catch up with many previous ones.

Kiss of leather series has yet another wonderful book to add to the collection. Morticia knight has to be one of my favourite authors, with this series being her best in my opinion.
Cruellas and Rays story was waiting to be written and Morticia has once again brought out all the emotions within me. When they turned their backs on Rouge I cried so hard that I needed a break to pull myself together so I could focus without the excess moisture in my eyes.
The way Morticia has captured their relationship and the struggles of a non-binary person comes across in their lives is so emotional. Without spoiling the story, all I can really say is read it and then thank Morticia for being such an excellent writer and story teller. Thank you Morticia, thank you.

Wah, sniffle, sniffle don't be the end of the series

I started the series with book four and enjoyed it but decided to start at the beginning and that was smart because each book centers in one couple, but builds on the others. This series is a primer on how different the BDSM lifestyle can be adjusted to each couple all connected with the Kiss of Leather, a high end BDSM club. This book, #9, centers on a gender queer man living life as a dominant woman who is referred to in the plural pronoun. It took a bit to get use to it but was an enjoyable education. I am holding out hope that another book might be added to this series. I have read other series by this author and loved them also. She is great.

🌟 ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!

I would say I have no words but this is a review so I want to say that I am continually impressed with this author. I have loved this series so much! The intensity and depth, the beauty and love and especially the struggles of these varied dynamics is so well written that these characters just came to life for me to the point that I felt like I was experiencing the emotions that are expressed throughout.

What I loved about this one especially is that you are shown the beginning of the journey for both of the primary characters. Also, as with all of the previous stories, the established couples continue to show their support.

Amazing read that I couldn't put down!!!

This is a sweet and engaging read. Cruella and Ray are great together and I enjoyed seeing their relationship grow and blossom. Both have to deal with past pain before looking at a future together. Cruella has left a cruel ex and even though Ray wants something more he does not want to push Cruella. When a chance comes along for these two to begin to explore their feelings, they take it. A shibari class brings these two together but it will take more than attraction to keep them together. I loved seeing the trust between them and it was nice to see how their roles play out. The author gives readers a wonderful story and strong characters in this book.

Quite confusing

I find story to be quite confusing at first, trying to figure out who was talking to who. After reading further into the book, it can clear to me. I had to stop off and on to try and connect that Cruella was talking about themselve, and not someone else. I love all of the other Kiss of Leather book, but this one had me confused. But, I'm happy for both Ray and Cruella, they are perfect for each other.

Unique and Incredible

I love the differences in Cruella and Ray’s story. No spoilers, but the details of their love story are fresh and special and veer significantly away from the norms of many kink stories. Definitely worth the read.

Great to have a non binary story

I'm a huge fan of Morticia Knights books and I love this series. I loved that this story featured a non binary person.

I had the pleasure (and oh my gosh was this ever TRULY a pleasure) to review KINK AWARE by Morticia Knight. It was my first time with this author, but after this book it will NOT be my last. KINK AWARE is the 9th book in the Kiss of Leather series, but can easily be read as a standalone. I did not feel as though I was missing anything, but the little hints and nods at the previous stories (very specifically Liam and Neal’s story for me) have made me salivate to read the entire series. Something I guarantee I will binge read in the very near future. Perhaps to brighten the dark days January and February hold in the Pittsburgh region.

Now… I am at a loss as to where to begin my review. Cruella was such an intriguing and complex character. They have been through many things I can identify with personally and were discovering a side to themselves they’d never fully recognized before. Abusive asshole exes have a tendency to clip your wings, after all.

And Ray. OMG the super, amazing, swoon worthy Ray. His metamorphosis was something perhaps larger than Cruella’s as things he had once poo-pooed about his best friend’s lifestyle he learned to embrace from a side that surprised him. But his love for Cruella superseded all of his preconceived notions about how the BDSM world works and what his own tastes were.

The journey that unfolds between Cruella and Ray was hot as Hades, charmingly endearing, and extremely fulfilling. I also would like to congratulate the author on providing an absolutely beautiful view into the BDSM lifestyle, something that falls short in so many books. Although they are side characters in this story, Liam and Neal’s deep bond and connection absolutely broke me in the best possible way. When Liam’s anxiety flares, Neal handles in with compassion and grace rather than acting like the alpha asshole I, sadly, often see Dom’s portrayed as.

My only complaint is that it was over too soon! I could read about Cruella and Ray forever as their relationship grows. And now I am going to go add all the other Kiss of Leather books to my TBR for upcoming reviews.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:

Rating: 3 stars out of 5

Ugh, I feel frustrated because I am not sure what to say. I Have loved the series so far but this one fell pretty flat for me. Cruella would act shy and maybe a little unsure but it seemed like more of an act to me than their true feelings. Ray seems pretty genuine but I feel he gets in trouble for Cruella’s inexperience as a dominant.

The story was as well written as all the others but I just didn’t feel like this couple was actually ready for a DS relationship and didn’t feel much connection to the characters. I love how Ray was trying to take care of Cruella in regards eating but that seemed to just disappear part of the way through the book and the suddenly Cruella was in charge all the time but never actually placed any rules or restrictions with it. I don’t want to feel like all I am doing is dissing the book but my frustration with their relationship overrode much of my enjoyment. I am hoping future stories in the series work better for me.

The like cover art by Erin Dameron-Hill and the visuals of the characters and that it follows the pattern for the series.

Talk about role reversals. Wink wink. You will definitely be entertained with Cruella and Ray. Both have strong personalities and the ghosts of bad relationships affecting them. However, that does not stop them from finally acting on their mutual attraction.

This book is part of a series and can be read as a stand alone. This is my first taste of the Kiss of Leather series and wow! I gotta get the rest of the books. I loved the slow, thoughtful journey into kink. Mistakes are made, but ya know, that was good. Otherwise, this story would have been too perfect and boring.  Plus, it gives you a chance to really think about D/s and what it could be between loving partners. Dude, if you like reading about femme men, you will absolutely go nuts with this. So good! It will make your re-read list for sure!!

Ray and Cruella's story is so real. You learn about their past relationships and how those relationships have built not only their strengths but also their insecurities. Morticia Knight's writing allows you to immerse yourself in the ups and downs of their relationship both in and out of their D/S lifestyle. This was truly my favorite of the 9 Kiss of Leathers and I hope there are more to come. If you read this one you will not be disappointed.

Cruella and Ray were wonderful together. I really enjoyed Cruella and Ray together as they are opposites but perfect together. I really enjoyed the connection and chemistry between Cruella and Ray. Ray is open, accepting and loving towards Cruella and Cruella is the Dom and person that Ray really needs. I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait for more from Morticia.

I received a free e-book copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Taking a chance and extending an invitation to Ray, Cruella opens them both up to the opportunity of more.
Two difficult personalities who can’t deny their draw to each learn that they compliment each other in many ways.
When the past comes calling, it’s how they handle it together that will ultimately matter.

An engaging, medium angst read with some scorching scenes, good character development and a strong ending. I liked the kink representation in this one.

Story of Cruella and Ray
Cruella is non binary, they have escaped from their ex and is finally safe. Ray has a thing for Cruella, but because he is their boss he doesn't want to feel he is pushing them into something. Cruella has a thing for Ray and feels that maybe Ray doesn't feel the way they do.
Great installment in the kiss of leather series.

Usually love this series but the dialogue kept pulling me out. The "huns" "luvs" etc...just aren't my thing. I appreciate reading a gender queer book but it didn't work for me as much as the other books did.
