I received a copy of this e-book for free directly from the author.
This review will be about the third book in the series, Resurrection. My reviews of the first two books can be found here and here.
Finally, the story comes to completion! I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books of the series so I was looking forward to this one and it did not disappoint! I read the entire Omnibus so I could refresh my memory of the first two books.
Resurrection picks up where book 2 left off, with a continued race to find a cure for the pandemic ravaging the world and vengeance on those responsible for it. It's difficult to write a complete review without spoiling the story or the first two books of the series. With that in mind, I'll just say the story came to a satisfying end and was fast paced and exciting throughout. There are some twists and turns along the way that keep the reader guessing though. You really start to pull for the protagonists in the story (there are, truly, multiple) and Kelly does a great job at developing characters you can really care about. Character depth is definitely one of his strengths.
Great pandemic/post apocalyptic novel that won't fail to disappoint those that like action.
This was a truly amazing series. The characters were so real and I wanted to keep learning and reading more about them. This author has a gifted way of writing that made me almost SEE the background as if I was there. I hope to read more by this author in the future.
This has been a fantastic series which I have thoroughly enjoyed. The books could come under the umbrella of Dystopian Science Fiction, however I think that Technothriller is a more apt description. However, anyone who likes either of these genres will, I imagine, love this book and this series, as will anyone who likes science fiction, or a good thriller! Like most books, there are parts where coincidental meetings have to play their part, however this didn't detract from the story. No zombies - thank goodness! - there are enough books around about them. Instead, the author has the release of bacteria causing a global pandemic, and you will have to read the books to find out whether it was released on purpose or accidental! There are players from around the world involved in a race to find the cure, and I can't tell you too much without spoiling the story. It is so much better than it sounds from what I have just written! The best part about buying this series is you have all the books so don’t have to wait to find out what happens next! I found this series most reminded me of some of the writing of Michael Crichton, which is praise indeed!
Books 2 and 3 (Revelations and Resurrection) continue the story a few months after the group reaches the now empty Don and Barb's farm. They settle into the ocal community, with Mei acting as the local doctor and Tony working on extending the cure in order to treat more than a handfful of patients. They are not left in peace for long - roaming bands of more or less organised marauders are on the loose and agents from the CIA agent Raines track Tony down with instructions to kill the originator of the plague. Various adventures and relocations result in the group being split somewhat but in greater security as the Canadian Army steps in. Two travel south to find Raines - and that stirs up a mess with geater consequences - and the Canadian winter also plays a part...
Worthy sequels - easy to read for all the same reasons. The final book ends with the veiled promise that there might be more and theree are certainly one or two loose threads flapping in the breeze (though not to do with the main thrust of the plot!)... Bring it on!
