Blogging is one of the few hobbies and side-hustles that can allow you to monetize your knowledge and passion and make a living working from anywhere.
Despite the growing opportunities for content creators out there, not everyone can get their blogging breakthrough. Did you know, for example, that 81% of people who start a website never even make their first $100 blogging?
And that’s because unless you have the right information, strategy, and skillset, hobby blogs remain just that - a hobby, instead of thriving into an online business.
But it doesn’t have to be that way!

Ana Sykes' "The She Approach To Starting A Money-Making Blog (2022 Edition)" promises to be an essential guide for anyone looking to create a website and make money through blogging. With blogging becoming an increasingly popular avenue for earning extra income, especially among digital entrepreneurs, this book aims to provide a roadmap for beginners navigating this dynamic landscape.
The book’s primary focus is on three main strategies:
1. Starting a Website with Bluehost. Sykes recommends using Bluehost as the go-to platform for setting up a blog. She emphasizes the ease of use and cost-effectiveness of Bluehost, which can be very appealing for beginners. But it is in no way for beginners. It is not easy to navigate Wordpress and all the necessary plug-ins.
2. Monetizing through Ads: Placing ads on your website is another major point. Sykes suggests this as a straightforward way to start generating income almost immediately.
3. Becoming an Affiliate Marketer: The last key takeaway centers on affiliate marketing. According to Sykes, this is a lucrative method for bloggers to earn commissions by promoting products and services.
These takeaways provide a broad outline of the steps involved in starting a money-making blog. However, the missing element here is the depth and practical guidance that many readers might expect.
Who Would Benefit from Reading This Book? "The She Approach To Starting A Money-Making Blog" is best suited for:
• Budding Bloggers who are just stepping into the world of blogging and need a basic framework to follow. Step by Step instructions are not included. • Aspiring Affiliate Marketers who are eager to understand the initial steps of integrating affiliate marketing into their blogs. • Digital Entrepreneurs looking for a quick overview of how to start a blog and begin monetizing it.
If you fall into one of these categories and are looking for a high-level overview, this book could be a helpful starting point.
Personal Opinion
While the book does a commendable job of providing a high-level outline, it falls short in several key areas. One of the most significant drawbacks is the lack of detailed, hands-on guidance. Many readers, especially those who are new to the blogging world, might find themselves wanting more specific instructions and practical insights.
For instance, when it comes to starting a website with Bluehost, the book could benefit from a step-by-step walkthrough or screenshots to guide the reader through the process. Similarly, while the book mentions placing ads on your website and becoming an affiliate marketer, it does not offer in-depth strategies, tips, or examples that could help a beginner implement these tactics effectively.
Another area where the book could improve is in addressing the common challenges and pitfalls that new bloggers might face. Knowing what to avoid and how to troubleshoot issues can be just as valuable as knowing what steps to take. Conclusion
In summary, "The She Approach To Starting A Money-Making Blog (2022 Edition)" by Ana Sykes provides a solid starting point for beginners who are looking to enter the world of blogging and make money online. However, if you’re seeking comprehensive, hands-on guidance with detailed explanations, you might find this book lacking.
Thank you to Goodreads for providing me with this platform to express my opinions and exercise my right to free speech as a United States citizen. There are so few places that will.
This is helpful in helping you to start a blog, BUT... she recommends BlueHost on an affiliate deal, not because it should be recommended. When you actually get into blogging, you’ll realize BlueHost actually isn’t the best hosting option. It is highly recommended only because it pays the most to bloggers in their affiliate program. This makes me not trust the author as much as I did when I first read the book.
I’ve read the same thing in blog posts. No new information. Was looking for specifics but if I want them, I’ll have to read another book or take her course. It’s one big advertisement.
Lots of good infor.ation packed into the book. Pragmatic and informative. There are links to other blog posts to read for more info, or ebooks and courses by her and others, but no pressure to buy something else, or read anything g else. I like her low key approach and will be reading more!
Although the book promises something different from other blogging books, to me it seems like the same thing over and over again. Instead of having all the information laid out in the book, the reader has to keep clicking the links.
As someone who owns a blog and recently had to start fresh, I thought this would be a great book for me to pick up, even if it's not something I'm looking actively for. And here's the good news, I thought the book was a fun read, helpful for new and experienced bloggers alike. Here are some interesting things I learned along the way.
So incredibly helpful to someone who is new to the world of blogging! A lot of good information, broken down in a way that's easy to understand, follow and actually start building a blog.
It links to a lot of great resources and video tutorials as well for the more technical steps. Would recommend!
The ebook, based on the author's own experience, is a comprehensive step-by-step practical guide to the profitable blogging beginner. It is easily understandable. Ana's advice is straightforward, convincing and genuinely encouraging.
This book is clear and easy to understand. She gives a path for a new blogger to get started. Also, she highlights the three major ways to make money with a blog. It was very helpful.
The information is presented in simple manner. It's easy to understand and feels like doable. However,at some point it feels like the links (to other sources)are more, which is a bit diverting ,but all in all good work...All the best.
This book is full of hints and tips for a novice blogger or someone who has hit a brick wall with their own blog. I'm certainly going to be using lots of the tips.
She has great tips, links to other helpful websites and pages, and an encouraging tone that makes you believe you CAN do it. I can’t recommend this book highly enough!
God bless you for writing this! This was very eye opening for me because I plan to start a blog and didn't know where to start, but because of you, I know what to do now! Thank you!
This book is for beginners that are looking for advice on steps to take to start a blog and make it successful. It’s in easy to follow instructions and easy to understand language.
This is the best book I have found on the subject of blogging. Straight forward approach, easy to understand, and full of practical ideas and action steps. I highly recommend this book.
Thank you Ana for sharing your experience and knowledge. There is so much information in this book. I have been able to make a plan, I have had questions answered and am feeling much more confident to make a start.
I loved the easy step by step with examples. I also loved that she links articles or other helpful guides on that topic if you want to go further in depth.
I love how it’s broken down into a step-by-step process. When I started my blog I felt so overwhelmed and quickly gave up. This book has given me hope that I can actually publish a blog!
This is a good intro book if you have zero knowledge on blogging or have no idea where to start. Would recommend additional research to get more well-rounded recommendations.
