Rate this book
The anti--hero of the novel drifts through life confused. A coming of age confessional about being young, dumb, confused yet hopeful. The narrator takes an often abrasive look at the society around him Hoping to find his way in life. Will the author be able to find love and compassion at the end? A confessional, semi autobiographical novel in the the same vein, as Henry Miller, Charles Bukowski and John and Dan Fante.

I can't read this book. I don't know if it is the author trying to write in the vernacular, or if this is the way he really writes, but I cannot follow one paragraph. Th grammar, the sentence structure, the incorrect word use confused me too much.
I hear people talking this way all the time on the train, on the city streets, but they are not talking to me, and if they are we are making a two way effort to understand each other.
It doesn't work in a book. Sorry. A truly great writer, Twain, Dickens, Morrison can find a way to write in dialect so well the average reader can puzzle it out. Damion Hamilton cannot do it.

I received this book free in exchange for an honest review on Goodreads.

Excellent prose

Worthy of reading. Heartfelt quick read. Really enjoyed this read. I tend to enjoy loose thought, prose style writing. The imagery is certainly there-more than in books that are two or three times the size of this one. A contemporary of Bukowski in the making with less self loathing, though on the way to it.

Weirdo

Weird. Not bad, just weird. Mostly about a man in his 20s searching for sex. The typos drove me nuts and the font changed about three quarters of the way through on the Kindle version. It was very distracting. Overall, I would possibly read something else by the author if I came across it. Likely wouldn’t search for something.
