The Altered Genes Trilogy consists Altered Genes : Genesis Altered Genes : Revelations Altered Genes : Resurrection
A excellent end to the trilogy with many loose ends tied and much hope for the future.
The book was very well written and clearly a great deal of research had gone into it.
The only character I didn't like was Lucia - she was far too aggressive and trigger-happy. Luckily she was balanced by her partner Baker who was solid, considered and reassuringly thoughtful. I know which one I'd rather be stuck with in an apocalypse!
I received a copy of this e-book for free directly from the author.
Resurrection picks up where book 2 left off, with a continued race to find a cure for the pandemic ravaging the world and vengeance on those responsible for it. It's difficult to write a complete review without spoiling the story or the first two books of the series. With that in mind, I'll just say the story came to a satisfying end and was fast paced and exciting throughout. There are some twists and turns along the way that keep the reader guessing though. You really start to pull for the protagonists in the story (there are, truly, multiple) and Kelly does a great job at developing characters you can really care about. Character depth is definitely one of his strengths.
Great pandemic/post apocalyptic novel that won't fail to disappoint those that like action.
The final installment of the series left me with many questions that I'll probably muse over for a wee while. As a whole, everything wrapped up as about expected - there were no major twists that I couldn't see coming, but I did appreciate the inclusion of a significant screw-up that one character made, resulting in the destruction of a relationship with a highly valued ally... except nothing ever actually came of it to affect the main character group. It happened, and then doesn't really impact any part of the plot from there - it might as well have never occurred, honestly, which feels like a lazy way to up the tension. I'd certainly appreciate a sequel that explored the post-pandemic world for this trilogy to know what ended up happening!
I didn’t want to stop reading. I am hoping that we find that the cure was shared a lot sooner. I want to know that Gong is held in a place of honor by his people. I guess what I want to read is that the world can live, and work together in peace. Oh well wishful thinking. This trilogy was thought provoking. It kept my interest through all 3 books. The characters all felt real to me, especially Lucia. I hope she finds a good life.
This is book 3 and I found myself reading non-stop to find out what was going to happen next. There has got to be another book because I have too many questions. A terrible epidemic spread throughout the world, killers wanting to take over, doctors trying to find the cure, all keeping you up all night reading. Have loved the entire series so far and highly recommend it.
This last book in the "Altered Genes" trilogy did not disappoint. I truly enjoyed all three. I grew to know each character and what to expect from them. This is a scary read considering what is going on in the world today with Covid. I do hope our world will recover one day in the near future, but in my opinion it will be a different world from our past. I recommend this series to anyone that enjoys fast paced excitement. Looking forward to reading more from this author!
Great series. Books 1-3 were great and hard to put down. The world is ravaged by a man made disease which mutates and drops the population to a small portion. The characters are very likable and some very resourceful. A surprisingly amazing twist is the character Lucia. She seeks revenge for the death of her children and becomes the bad ass wonder of the story.
For me, the pacing was perfect in this final book of the series, and each twist and turn had me eagerly anticipating what would happen next. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the entire series; it’s an exhilarating ride that left me reflecting long after the last page. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking an engaging blend of science fiction and adventure.
After the pandemic cuts earth’s population by billions, hope is found and innocence lost. The crazy mixed up world of post pandemic population will need to start again.
This has been a fantastic series which I have thoroughly enjoyed. The books could come under the umbrella of Dystopian Science Fiction, however I think that Technothriller is a more apt description. However, anyone who likes either of these genres will, I imagine, love this book and this series, as will anyone who likes science fiction, or a good thriller! Like most books, there are parts where coincidental meetings have to play their part, however this didn't detract from the story. No zombies - thank goodness! - there are enough books around about them. Instead, the author has the release of bacteria causing a global pandemic, and you will have to read the books to find out whether it was released on purpose or accidental! There are players from around the world involved in a race to find the cure, and I can't tell you too much without spoiling the story. It is so much better than it sounds from what I have just written! It has been a long wait for the last part of this story, but it has been worth it. Anyone starting the series now will have the advantage of not having to wait to complete this great story. It reminded me mostly of something that Michael Crichton could have written, which is praise indeed!
