I am a proud friend! Oonagh’s writing is so beautiful and haunting. Make the story feels real and alive. The Bone Men is a dark novelette that inspired by Scottish folklore. If you love fairytales or folktales, you might want to pick this one up :)
A song of the green summer slope, the voiceless glade, of a scentless hunter who would kill and scare and scatter.
Spooky, strange, and very atmospheric. I loved the sense of folklore and mystery, and the setting in an unknown glen of the Grampians really sang. Oonagh has a dark and visceral way with words and metaphor that really dragged me in to this story and made the anger of the feral, hot-blooded daughter come alive. I was left confused by what exactly the bone men were, and what exactly had happened to Mhammi, but I think that was partly the point.
I look forward to buying published novels from Oonagh in the future!
