Rate this book
Are the 1932 Yankees the greatest team of all time? This is the story of their remarkable season, led by Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig, toward one of the most lopsided & talked-about World Series in baseball history. At the outset of the Great Depression, as FDR campaigned to replace Herbert Hoover, a baseball season was played across America. In the National League, the Chicago Cubs narrowly won the pennant thanks to the likes of Gabby Hartnett, Charlie Grimm, Billy Herman, Riggs Stephenson, Kiki Cuyler, Johnny Moore, Lon Warneke, and Guy Bush. In the American League, Joe McCarthy's New York Yankees ran away with the pennant, leaving Connie Mack's Philadelphia Athletics in the dust.Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Bill Dickey, Earle Combs, Tony Lazzeri, Ben Chapman, Frankie Crosetti, Joe Sewell, Lefty Gomez, Red Ruffing, George Pipgras, and Johnny Allen led the way to one of the winningest teams in the early American League, overshadowed only by the 1927 Yankees. Chicago and New York then clashed in one of the most lop-sided and talked-about World Series in baseball history.ABOUT THE Ronald A. Regurgitation of baseball lore and myths. Terribly researched. Uninspired.

Two words for the author's next book: 1) Proofreader. 2) Fact-checker.

A great team deserves a much better book. So many grammatical and factual errors that after awhile you forget about the story and start looking for the next error, sometimes the same error in different places in the book: "Yankees" Stadium? If you're writing about the Yankees, get the name right, every time. Johnny Allen's "bio" in the book recounts his 6-0 record in the World Series. Or . . . that could actually be Lefty Gomez's record?

I could go on, suffice it to say, shelve this book before it aggravates you as it did me.

The 1932 NY Yankees Was One of the Greatest Teams Ever

Besides chronicling the 1932;Season and World Series, the author gave biographies of the Yankee Players from their birth, their entire career and their after baseball life. After reading this book, I now know about all of the Yankee Players and Managers from this era and also about a many other players on other teams. A must read for all Yankee Fans and probably for all true baseball fans.

Good sports history book

I like books that deal with topics few think about. Writing about the 1932 Yankees definitely qualifies. I liked how the author sprinkled in biographies of players as he discussed the season.

A fun and good read. My only nitpicky complaint is that the same info was repeated on numerous occasions.
