Cultural anthropology graduate student, Adair Stafford, has the chance of a lifetime. After being selected to conduct a research study in the beauty of Andros island, she leaves behind her broken heart to pursue a lifelong goal.
All is going as planned until Adair and her research partner find themselves transported back in time, thrown into the very culture they came to uncover.
As Adair learns to adjust, she finds herself developing feelings for more than one complicated man while still trying to let go of the one who broke her heart.
Is there a way back to the future and, in the end, will she want to go back after finding her heart in Andros?
⚠️Warning, this book has some mild trigger aspects⚠️
Wow, how do I begin to describe a book that has so much going for it. This amazing book is the brain child of the terrific team Jade Ryan and Kendall Oliver.
This is the first book that I've read that has crossed multiple genres in the romance field. Action, adventure, historical elements, fantasy, reverse harem and more. What got me most was the humour in this book. It wasn't originally meant to be a humorous book, but this is definitely the funniest book I've read in years.
To this we add 4 hot men, one kicka$$ heroine. But, can Adair learn to let go and love, will Toby win her affection, can Thad let go of the past and can Jasper (my favourite) open up? Then what will happen if Brax ever comes back? If you want the answers, then you have to read it!
With amazing flow, consistancy and continuity, especially for a first book, you can't go wrong with this one. Be careful though, you just may lose your heart on Andros.
This book is 18+ due to violence, language and sexual activity including the lgbtq+ aspects.
I really enjoyed this book. The whole going going backwards in time is something I've wanted to see in this little subgenre for a while. AND ITS DIFFERENT. The characters grow on you throughout the book. I totally have my favorites and I actually am pleased to say that there are characters I dislike too. And not because they are annoying to read about which is the norm. So good job. A nice twist st the end too and I desperately want more!
A great start to a new series! I enjoyed meeting Adair and her men in this first installment, and watching their relationships develop was beautiful. That ending totally caught me by surprise! I can't wait to read the next book to see where they end up and what adventures are in store for them. :)
No spoilers of any kind included except for this and that is there is a cliffhanger at the end of the story. This book was fantastic but it took me a little while to get into it but once I did I absolutely enjoyed the story, I actually pouted when I got to the end and found a huge cliffhanger waiting for me. This is my first time reading this author and I gotta say I’ll be reading more in the future because I have to know what happens in the next of this series. So yep you got it I most definitely do recommend this book to anyone who’s searching for a fantastic story to climb into and get totally lost within its pages.
I did find this a bit hard to get into at the start. I'm blaming that on being Australian though because overly formal speech pulls me out of the story. It's such an interesting plot though so I could put it aside and enjoy the story.
What do you get when you take a cultural anthropologist, a few hot guys, historical references, and clever artistic liberties? You get The Heart of Andros. Author team Jade Oliver's first collaborative book is definitely worth the read. There are the steamy scenes (of course), the casually dropped pop culture references, the seamless historical drops, multiple POVs, and some hilarious yard dinosaur shenanigans.
I was captivated from the very beginning. Miss Oliver, you have a way with words! Beautiful word play and I fell in love with the guys right along with Adair. Looking forward to book 2!
I really liked the story of this book. It’s a bit like outlander, what, with the time travel and everything, although it’s pretty different for a number of reasons. I love the character development. I love the depth that was given to the characters. They have layers upon layers and it’s something you can see. And it was clear for me that the authors went through extensive research to give credibility to the world they’ve created and the correct time periods you can see. This is a book that is completely worth reading and I’ll look forward to the next one.
I stumbled upon this beauty from one of the fb groups I’m in, and I’m very pleased to say I did. Awesome read, the ending was just wow . I normally don’t like cliff hangers unless the next book is out but this one definitely accomplished what it needed to. Awesome will wait for the next.
This book is a mix of so much passion and a few twists. Some I saw coming and some that just dropped the floor on me. I am excited to see what comes next in book two!
The storyline is a great idea but the execution falls flat. New character and a new timeline are accepted too quickly and with virtual nonchalance. It’s almost as if it’s a side note because it had to be mentioned for the sake of the plot so we’re not totally lost. The inconsistency in the new timeline and how things are represented (or clearly not mentioned) for the 1700’s is aggravating. Like I said, the time travel is a side note (oh btw-you’re in the 1700’s and that’s that). Another issue I struggled with is the constant use of a characters name when they speak with each other. We know who they’re speaking to, they know who they’re speaking to, why do they have to consistently use each other’s names to speak to one another? People don’t constantly use someone name to start a sentence while they’re having a conversation. I think either the author didn’t think we readers would understand or doesn’t know how to represent a real conversation in writing. If you’re looking for steamy reverse harem scenes than this is a good book. What I mentioned above won’t matter. However, if you want a great storyline with characters you’d follow book after book, this isn’t for you.
This book started off good and then slowed down for awhile. We start in 2018 and jump back to 1728 or something like that. Adair is collecting men without any restraint. Like it is just the most normal thing. After a lot of drama the group of 5 end up in the year 2222 and a cliffhanger. The story has a very “A girl named blue” feel to it.

Adair is a spitfire cultural anthropologist graduate student who finds herself dealing with heartbreak when she embarks on a journey to conduct a research study in the beautiful island of Andros, something goes array and she finds herself hundreds of years in the past with her research partner, she meets two men while on this adventure and finds herself falling for all of them, including her research partner, and trying to let go of the man who caused her heartbreak. Tons of steaminess, evil, love and healing of the heart in this amazing love story.
This book was an amazing read and I enjoyed every word. It’s hard to describe if this book is either slow-burning or medium burning, as there are so many amazing moments. If you enjoy steamy scenes, heartfelt moments, and strong women then this is the book for you!

When we first begin the book, we are in present time and Adair is dating Brax. When devastation comes to Adair, she accepts a job that changes her life forever. I thought the concept was interesting. Unfortunately there was a few things about the writing that brought my ratings down. Things like the dialogue, the convenience of certain things, and some of the character motivations. Overall, I think it's worth a try. Obviously other people loved it, and one never knows until they try it themselves. Grab a sample or borrow it and see what you think.
