In this groundbreaking book, a #1 bestseller in South Korea, a financial guru shares the secret to building your fortune using your emotion and opens the door to a new world full of hope and prosperity. When Wharton MBA Jooyun Hong went searching for the key to increasing wealth in a time of growing inequality, she did not expect to find herself studying under a famed and fascinating guru, known for advising the 1% of South Korea. She now shares what she learned from the guru in this life-changing narrative, and it starts with a simple emotion she calls Having. Suh Yoon Lee, a magnetic woman in her thirties, was identified as a guru at the age of six and set off on a course of study ranging from classical Asian texts to economics to an analysis of 100,000 case studies to reveal the true secrets of growing rich. A bestselling author and insightful thinker sought after by the richest people in the nation, Suh Yoon Lee retreated into seclusion, troubled by the impact her guidance to the wealthy may have on income disparity. When Jooyun wrote to the guru for an interview, Suh Yoon invited her to Lake Como, Italy. There, they started a conversation about how everyday people can achieve their financial goals more easily and quickly by living in synch with their true emotions. In destinations ranging from Paris to Kyoto, this philosophical journey lays out a framework for achieving an empowered relationship with money. The guru has found that almost everyone has the capacity to earn 3 to 7 million dollars—and some have a capacity for much more. As Jooyun applies the guru's practical but revolutionary insights to her everyday life—including journaling about the emotions that accompany spending money—she experiences a transformation of her mood, fulfillment, and ultimately, her net worth. By changing your emotions about money, you can make every purchase a step toward becoming your true self. Having is the power that attracts wealth, and this incredible series of lessons will guide you to claim that power in your own life. Learn to feel what you already have, and you'll be able to have so much more.
Suh Yoon Lee is a thinker, a master of mindsets, and a paradigm shifter. As the grandmother who guided then six-year-old Suh Yoon on her path said, "This child is destined to bring wealth and good fortune to many and to heal their minds." Since then, Suh Yoon has studied millennia-old classics and modern academia and also analyzed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people to reveal the secrets to wealth. From her twenties, Suh Yoon won fame as the Guru to the Rich. Interviews with her were featured in major newspapers, and she was inundated with requests to teach CEOs. She has advised the founders, owners, and executives of the largest conglomerates in Korea, as well as super investors and real estate moguls. Her admirers say Suh Yoon has brought them wealth and good fortune, helped them take quantum leaps in their lives, and soothed their minds. You can learn more about her at her website (suhyoonlee.com), Instagram (@suhyoon.lee), and digital magazine (yoooon.com).
Pro tip: never believe a word from someone who labeled themselves as a “guru”. What a bunch of bullocks. I can almost certain that this author is a hoax. Most of her stories are extremely vague with no specifics but frictional characters i.e. “there was once an entrepreneur.. some cases.. a comedian.. a man.. a woman.." blablabla and countless more stupid made up examples. Why are there so much debt in this world? Ignorants who pay money to listen/read self-proclaimed “gurus” like this one.
There are indeed many examples in this book about Chinese characters and its intriguing philosophical meanings. But look, if you are interested and fascinated by the thousands and thousands years of wisdom, go and explore Chinese the language instead. Watch out for all the fake reviews and their Youtube propaganda clips.
In a nutshell, be content with what you have. There you have it. The whole gist of the book in one short and sweet sentence.
Putting aside the whole "Guru" aspect of it and the emphasis on how great the Guru is and how she studied all these classics at age six etc... which is quite hard for me to believe but anyway.. I think the book has some good advice about changing your mindset around money and attracting more money. It has a lot of the same advice as other Law of Attraction books but presented in a different way, and the focus is specifically on money. The focus is on being grateful for what you have and feeling good about the money you have, and living in the present moment more. Always a good thing to learn.
It's just that the author also seems to already be pretty well off, she can afford $600 shoes and $300 pants and vacations so... I don't know, I feel like it’s easier to feel good about money when you can afford $600 shoes.
Malo je to meni presladunjavo i površno, ali da postoji nešto što nije istina, ne postoji. Čudna, ali zanimljiva knjiga. Dotaknula je nešto ljudsko u meni i svakako ima korisnih misli za misliti dalje.
Not gonna lie, I wanted to finish this book quickly so I could move on to a different book.
I love the concept behind this book, Law of Attraction, where "what you think becomes true". In fact, this book tries to be like one of my favourite books - 'Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill'. However, this book comes a lot closer to 'The Secret' book, where many feel-good stories are told, nothing in-depth and any difficult details are omitted. I.e. it is very woo-woo.
The book is about 50% practicing the "Having" mindset (where you correct your relationship with money and feel that you deserve it) and 50% about how great the Guru is (who teaches the author). My criticism is that they oversold the Guru way too much that I felt skepticism growing in me the more I read. Below are few things mentioned about Guru that made me feel this way: -Guru, since age of 6 had a knack for Financial knowledge / Mystical powers and just knew how to become wealthy... (gosh I wonder what I was doing at age 6, probably eating dirt off playground)
-Business owners would visit the Guru when she was age 10 to ask for advice on their business (imagine being an investor to find out that the CEO visited a 10 year old girl to ask for Business advice... imagine being the dad of the 10 year old girl and having weird business man ask your daughter for advice? I'd be very suspicious)
-Guru has studied many rich people and financial markets. It is stated that she was well-versed in Stock Market, Real Estate and Commodities. I think it is fascinating to be knowledgeable in one of these but all of them? Come on. Guru also gives out relationship advice (i.e. do this and you'll meet your future husband).
-Guru is in hiding of people who want to ask her for advice. However, Guru makes time for the author and gives her all the advice she needs to write this book.
-Guru has helped many people in Financial Markets. Not always but Financial Market could be a Zero-Sum Game (if someone wins then someone is losing). If she helped two competitors, would both of them become rich? Will it be a battle of the Having thoughts?
This review kind of became a rant, but I really do believe in Law of Attraction and the positive effects of "Having" mindset. However, this book does not detail that success and wealth isn't just a positive mindset alone but the daily grind, up & down days, resilience and passion, it does not even try to help you to cultivate skills/mindset to make money but rather just receive money. It touches very briefly on meditation, Tao Te Ching and being in the present moment but not merely enough.
I think for anyone who has never read a Law of Attraction book might find this interesting, but there are books that do it better (Ask and it is given, Master Key Systems, Think and Grow Rich, Tao Te Ching and Zen Buddhism books). There's so much more than money to Law of Attraction. I understand this book is targeting the major population with "money" but I feel it had potential for a lot more!
If you want to be wealthy, go read The Millionaire Next Door. Understand what true wealth looks like. Most of the people you see with a flashy lifestyle are deeply in debt.
The author of this book equates expensive clothes, expensive cars, expensive vacations, expensive restaurants, expensive houses with wealth.
That's not wealth, that's a hefty spending habit.
I spent the first two-thirds of this book in disbelief at the 'Guru's' advice, but I spent the last third trying to decide if perhaps the author just misinterpreted the guru's advice.
Yes, you should figure out what truly brings you pleasure and buy that as opposed to everything you see. Yes, you should appreciate what you already have. And I truly believe gratitude for what you do have, opens opportunities to receive more abundance.
I think that was supposed to be part of the message, but as I said, the author seems fixated on achieving expensive spending habits more than anything...
And yes, I'm a self-made millionaire with nary an expensive house, car, or item in my wardrobe. My sense of identity isn't tied to impressing anyone.
What a bunch of bullsh1t! The premise of the book is - if you believe in it, it will come. Much like "the secret". The author embellishes the concept with very descriptive stories and "examples". the problem is that the connections she makes are so tenuous that it becomes ridiculous. For example, person A believed and then something good happened. Is there a connection? not necessarily. As statisticians like to say - correlation does not mean causation. The only real explanation the author and the "guru" actually provide is that - if you believe then you will be less stressed and therefore can make more logical decisions, which will, in turn, help you succeed. The rest is mumbo jumbo.
While self-help books are generally not my specialty, I did enjoy this one. The secret at the center of this book is to live in the moment. The author makes the point that too many people are focused on being just a small cog in a great big mechanized world. She argues that the power to change the world around us lies within our own minds. I found this to be a delightful quick read, and well worth the two days it took to get through it.
Oh God, I just can't bring myself to read this book. The first two chapters were completely useless - what is the author trying to tell us? The opening of the 3rd chapter again started with all the praises - "someone at a multinational corporation was fired because they couldn't get an appointment with her" - a 30 yo guru whom I had to triple check to make sure she's not some KPop star. Oh give me a break, yes this might work for a cult, but not for me thank you very much.
How wonderfully this book’s Korean publisher is working for turning it into a GOOD book by deleting bad reviews and threatening innocent reviewers just because they wrote this book was rubbish. Good luck to the publisher in making a good fortune by selling this book. Oh, BTW, I totally agree with the innocent reviewers.
Easy, quick read. When you buy something, the feeling at the moment of owning that thing, is "Having". Also, appreciate what you have. Stop trying to keep up with the neighbors. Mix this book with that show from Netflix (something about "sparking joy") and you've got yourself a fantastic way to spend a rainy day.
I found this one a little strange but I didn’t hate it. I do like the underlying philosophy of focusing on what you have and practicing gratitude, etc., good advice for life in general curiously applied to personal finance.

I was attracted by the flashy red cover and unique title when I saw this book. I opened the cover without expecting much. But whoa! I was immersed in the book in no time at all. It reminded me of the first time I read Harry Potter. I learned later on that the person leading me into this book was Suh Yoon herself. She seemed like a younger, female, and most importantly real version of Dumbledore. So powerful and fantastic. I feel as if she provided me with positive insight not only on how to be wealthy but also on how to live life to the fullest. This lady has solely shaped my view of the world. Suh Yoon seemed warm and protective like no one else. Just as Harry Potter depended on Dumbledore, I now depend on her. Just thinking about her puts my mind at ease as she is my tower of strength. You can discover this magic for yourself! All you need to do is make a grab for the book; no one will make the grab for you.
Wow! I felt this book in my heart chakra. I was looking for the lessons of abudance. I've read other books on finances and talked to wealthy people, but something wasn't clicking. I saw a post by Joe Vitale about this book and two days later it was in my hands. I had an unbelievable healing experience and things are clicking. Are there cheesy/silly moments? Totally. But that doesn't mean this book is any less valuable. Plus I was lucky enough to read this while still in my Saturn Return. But anyone at any age can benefit. If you haven't jived with financial or life lesson books before, read this one. It's an easy read with great settings and cool references. The examples and old says add to the feel too. I haven't read too many Korean authors so the vibe was new but I loved it! I am so grateful for this book.
I'm not a big fan of novels or story-format books but this one is an exception. It's an Eastern skew of 'The Secret' which, as a whole, allows you to connect a few more dots in life. It also is very detailed in its observations of the different scenes which is probably a journalistic thing or walking the talk in terms of 'having' . It also employs a lot of metaphors to help the reader reflect. Easy to read and digest. A good reminder of the power of emotions as an enabler.
This was a very interesting book. Most books on how to get rich are all about saving money and doing things that most people can't do or understand. This is a book for everyone and anyone can follow how this method works. I took a bit longer to read and review this book as I wanted to see if this process works. It works at any age, anytime, anywhere, and everywhere. This book was also fun to read.
I'll say this book is similar at some sense to Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by Harv Eker. However this book reveals more and explains how the emotionality brings prosperity. You can learn the importance of the emotion, even if you are not yet interested in being rich.
I like the way this book because it was written in a form of a dialogue: A Guru and an apprentice. It's easy to follow step by step as the apprentice was writing as a perspective of the beginner.
I interpreted this book as another way to practice LOA. The basic reminders are immersed in practicing gratitude for what one has in the present.
Albeit the case studies provided are vague, I appreciated the different approach to gratitude because it is through this connection that we are able to create a high vibrating conduit for energy to create the currency for our reality.
thank you so much for writing this book. i felt so much better as soon as i started reading this book. being given guidance on appreciating what i have has made my days so much happier and i feel my life is on an infinitely better path due to this book. possibly my favourite book ever, i cant thank you enough for writing it.
I absolutely love the philosophy behind Having! To me its quite mindshifting in the way I feel about spending money. Absolutely giving this a try in practice. Today it already worked. When I bought something for my son with the best intention, feeling no sorrow about spending the money, I suddenly got a gift for free at the counter!!
This is a great book to read for anyone who has ever struggled with money. This is a book for those who have tried and tried, using all different kinds of "Guaranteed" ways to attract more money but nothing worked. It was simple and had tons of examples. It is about the emotions and thoughts that are necessary for money to increase.
This is a good book to everyone that needs to change its connection with money. Very spiritual and with good insights. It's an easy reading. I've enjoyed reading it and I will remember and try as much as I can to practice Having because it can really change your life and your relationship with money.
I found it a bit vague however it gives me a chance to think of what I have instead of what I don't have. Which is a very important factor to advance in your life. We all can complain about the ones I don't have or things that irritate me from what I need to focus on. In fact, it is still a way better to be positive rather than sitting and complaining about negative thoughts.
Loved it! It was a good read (finished I’m about three days) I’m glad I picked this book up in my twenties. Post grad life is confusing, but Suh Yoon’s wisdom tells me to not be anxious and impatient! Love the read can’t wait to practice these nuggets of wisdom
