I truly enjoyed this story, it’s tagged as a romance. However, the author spends a lot of time building the story, setting and building the relationships between the main characters. There is also a well rounded mystery/ thriller running along throughout the story, which helps to keep the book running along. I would definitely recommend this story and I will definitely continue the reading the series.
This is what I’m talking about! I love slowburn ya Rh but unfortunately usually they’re angst city or the Mc us woefully a Mary Sue. This was awwwwwesome and while it is a little fantasical and unbelievable it was still very well written and interesting
This book has the potential to be really great. The story is unique and the plot is well thought out. The character development could use a little work. "The guys" all kind of blend together. They are pretty interchangeable. More consistent dialogue and character actions could help develop them further, thus giving them each a blatantly unique personality.
Here's an example: When Rob first finds out about Ellie, he is angry that she is disrupting the mission. All of that anger just goes away as soon as he lays eyes on her. Guys with a chip on their shoulder (which is how he initially comes across to me) don't suddenly become nice guys in the blink of an eye.
The other thing that would really make a huge difference would be having someone help with the numerous grammatical errors on each page of the book. There are SO MANY run on sentences!! It's great that commas are heavily used, but many of them should be periods. The run on sentences made the story muddled and difficult to comprehend. I can normally finish a book this length in a matter of hours. It took me the better part of an entire day to finish this, due to the number of times I had to reread sentences. Simple is sometimes better.
I know that hiring a good copy editor is expensive, but take advantage of the large number of people willing to be beta readers. A good beta reader would easily be able to flag a majority of the issues I found. I could post my notes from my kindle, if they would be of help: 593 notations.
Where do I even start? O. M. G...... What a page turning read this turned out to be!
The author had me right from the get go. I'm usually a slow reader due to being a mum, but I power read this book in less than a week. I could not put this down. (My poor children haha)
The story-line is well written and has a lot of humour which had be laughing out loud. The characters are well described without going OTT. I pictured how each and every character looked, how they smelt and acted.
The main character is a complete bad ass! I just fell in love with her.....and the guys....well SMOKING HOT BAD ASS's!
I don't want to go into the story too much and ruin it for future readers but its a mix of mystery, comedy and romance. Nice easy read. If I can read it after a long day of looking after young children that surely says in itself how awesome this book was?
Now I'm onto book 2 tonight and hope its as good as the first one!
I liked the book ok, it had the potential to be great. There was a bit of insta love going on. Although Ellie is beautiful I struggled to understand why most of the boys were instantly hooked. Two of the boys were hard to distinguish and I don’t really know a thing about either. They could’ve been written into one character as neither have any defining qualities. I struggled to even remember the names while reading the book. Also, FYI, The second book isn’t on KU. ($5)
Couldn't really finish the book. I loved the premise of it but the main character was so whiny and pessimistic and being a fairly optimistic person myself, I just couldn't handle it. I get it you had a hard life but these 6 sexy men come in and help you and she just complains about it the whole time. I really wanted this to be good because I love YA RH romances but I just couldn't get over it. I gave it 4 stars however because I really liked the guys and the storyline.
Surprisingly great series but I started getting bored by the end DNF 70% on the 3rd book. Might reread when I have the time to binge all three books. The romance started to take a back seat to the plot closer to the end and the plot was really repetitive not really giving me anything to keep me intrigued I just don't really care any more. Stuff is being dragged out for far too long and the writing isn't good enough to keep me invested in the story/characters/romance development.
Wow another wonderful book by another author I discovered just recently MJ King I couldn’t just stop at a chapter I had to finish bc it was that darn good So thanks Wish I could get the other two free on ku but it’s a buy to click maybe some day it will be free to read but it was awesome to read so thanks !
OMG this book was OMG amazing. Ellie and her mouth had me rolling and got get me started on that darn ending. U see the inner strength that she has. I cant wait for more. MAN THAT ENDING..
Good start to a series. Quirky heroine, protective male interests, intrigue, danger and twists you don't see coming. It was a little rough in places but definitely interesting enough to make me keep reading and to make me buy the next book in the series.
This is a great start to what I hope becomes a long series of books! All of the characters are well written and well developed. I can’t wait for the next book!
This book was what I was needing in my life. Slow burn, feisty MC, and yummy guys. I think Axel and Hunter are my favorite though. Not only is there plenty character build but there is a mystery in the story. I love that the MC is a “badass spy” and doesn’t need the guys to save her but to just be her friends. I loathe her brothers and don’t understand their motives at all. Intrigue! Such a cliffhanger to end on though. Anxiously waiting the next one!
Ellie is from a troubled home and school isn't much better. A group of guys move to town and turn her world upside down. Along with the romance dynamic there is a town mystery and things start getting dangerous for Ellie. This was a page turner that left off with a cliff hanger. I am eager to read book 2.
Great book! Wonderful mystery with a great amount of intrigue! Really keeps you guessing! I just love Ellie and the guys they are great. Lots of funny scenes that have laughing out loud. Need the next book now. It does end in a cliffhanger! So be prepared to wait to find out what happens..
