Born and raised in Arizona, I guess you'd call me a desert rat. Well, actually, I'd be a desert rat that loves the mountains and lakes. Arizona gives me great pleasure, because if I'm not at the computer writing or buried nose deep in a book you'll find me on a four-wheeler, or a jet ski, or being pulled behind my 26’ Monterey boat on an oblong tube called a ‘hot dog’ laughing my ass off. In fact, my family says I have an unnerving cackle cutting through the waves--similar to a witch!

Yes, that's right this witch has a family... Bill is my wonderful husband of twenty-two years. Tia, Samantha and Ashley are my three beautiful girls and my greatest accomplishments to date. And the light of my life is a devilishly handsome grandson, Dusty.

As writing is a passion with many—it’s an obsession with me. Who knew that the wild things going on in my head someone would actually read? But I'm thankful you do and I hope you find joy and entertainment in my sometimes—okay most of the time—risqué ramblings.

Vampires and werewolves and humans, oh my. "Black Widow" by MacKenzie McKade is a smoking hot menage read with the added fillip of paranormal lore.

Tammy is a lonely, average, normal human. Until one night she ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time and is attacked. It's not until the next time she wakes, that she learns she was attacked by a werewolf, saved by a vampire, and is now apparently the mate to both of them...and queen, no, let's not forget queen. Like that's not strange enough, she's also a creature of legend. Ok, nightmare legends, but still. She's the Lamia, a deadly creature that requires sex and blood and...isn't that enough?

McKade does a grand job with her paranormal menage tale. There's emotional relationship building, not a lot but this IS erotica. There's humor and a little violence and a little bondage and a little, well a little of lots of things that make this a darn good read for erotica fans.

3.5 This is an interesting book and a really good premise. It just wasn't the best. There is a shapeshifter and a vampire element, but the vampire was minor compared to the shapeshifter. I found myself wanting more interaction with the vampire (maybe because I was led to believe that from the synopsis?). Plus I liked the vampire so I wanted to see more of him, so that might be a personal preference. They also mentioned some threesome action in the summary, but let me tell you, it is minor and not as explicit as other menage books. So don't expect much or you'll be disappointed.

This book also focuses a lot on the politics of both clans. It was interesting, but I was really hoping this would have been the first in a series because now that the politics are set, there are some characters I would like to read more about.

Hilarious enough, I just read my review of McKade's other book I read, and I mentioned that the summary was a little misleading. Funny!

And now, I must address the sex in this book. It was HOT. I wanted more menage but I really liked the sex scenes that were in this book. She also write some great heroes, and fun other characters. But some of the character interactions were somewhat undeveloped due to the extensive pack/clan politics.

My rating on this book is more like 3.5. It had some good things going for it- steamy sex scenes, a good, conflicting plot going into the politics and superstitions of the werewolves and vampires. The story weighed more on the werewolf end of the menege leaving the vamopire out of a big part of the story, which I found very disappointing. Instead of following the triad, the story mainly seemed to follow 2/3 of the love triangle. I kept hoping the vampire would get equal time, but he never did which led to a resolution that I found disappointing. In my opinion a better compromise could have been struck.

It was a good book, although I am not sure I would read it again. The hybrid idea was very interesting, although the vampires greatly resemebled Christine Feehan's Carpathians. Not a bad thing since I like the Carpathians, just not unique. My only real complaint is that I wanted more Marcellus.

Now don't get me wrong but there was alot of sex in this book and normally I don't mind that, but with this story the sex was pretty much every page. It seemed like the conflicts & issues were just thrown in so the book wouldn't be all sex. Plus the Vampire seemed to get the short end of the stick on the relationship... But besides those two things it was still a pretty good book. It did leave some unsolved issues, so maybe it is the beginning of a series?

Only an OK read for me. After the epilogue, there were still several issues left unresolved. Maybe there was to be a sequel??

How I imagined a threesome between a werewolf and a vampire would turn out.
