One glance, and it came rushing back.

After a devastating break up, Amelia moves in with her aunt and uncle. Focusing on getting back on her feet, and forgetting the guy who broke her heart, the last thing on her mind is finding love… until she runs into a childhood friend.

Randall’s given up on finding “the one”.
Given up on living a life that doesn’t include being stuck in Asheville and dealing with an alcoholic father. It’s nothing he wants, but it’s all he’s got until the girl he used to play hide and seek with as a child serves a wake-up call and shows him everything he thought he could live without.

Can two lost souls find love or will demons from their past hold them back?

The writing will draw you in after only a few pages and have you finishing the book in one sitting.
There is the perfect amount of angst and romance to keep you hooked. I loved how their relationship unfolded so we could see these amazing characters grow in ways you never expected.
I would suggest picking up a copy asap, you will not be disappointed.

One of my absolute favorites of this series. Randall is a character ive been wait to read for awhile now ever since Welcome to your life came out. I was so curious to his story given we knew it wasn't easy for him. Amelia was another character i was excited to read. My heart hurt for her and what she was put through but in the end i love how she stood her ground with her past and didn't let them get to her. Randall grew so much in this book as a character. He was already somewhat acting as a adult when we start reading but by the end he's achieved a whole new level. Made me so proud of what he had done to further his future happiness. Can't wait for Sophie and Adrian!

If you’ve read Welcome to Your Life, Ways to Go, of From This Moment you’ve already been introduced to Amelia and Randall. Amelia is Tonya’s cousin and Randall is one of Jake’s friends. Though, if you haven’t read any of the other books in the series you can still enjoy Shoot Down the Stars and not be confused.

Amelia needed to escape her hometown after experiencing heartbreak and ridicule from people she thought were her friends, so moving in with her aunt and uncle is the perfect escape. She can spend time with her family and not have to avoid everyone. She wasn’t looking for anything, but sometimes things don’t always work out how you want.

Randall has had is heartbroken but his own mother. She walked out on him and his father as a child and left Randall to drop out of college and be the parent to his alcoholic father. This isn’t the life he imagined for himself, but when he see’s a girl he used to spend time with as a child things might be changing for him.

I LOVED Amelia and Randall. They were two broken people who help one another heal. While all their friends were pairing off they were always the third wheels, so why not form a friendship, of course that friendship quickly grew into so much more. They had instant chemistry with one another and truly were perfect.

My heart broke for Randall and everything he had to deal with when it came to his father and how he acted by him at times. I also felt for Amelia when it came to how she was treated by her “ex” and her “friends” back home and the reasons for leaving. Both of them struggled when it came to their relationship with each other, but they had to learn to trust and learn that they can’t let what happened in the pasts affect their future together.

Whether you’ve read any of the other books in the series or not this one is a MUST READ. It is beautifully written and such a sweet love story.

People who believe you can't read a great romance and it not have erotic scenes have not had the opportunity to experience true writers like this author. This was an emotional read filled with angst and regret and a whole lot of growing up. He had been holding things down since his mom left and his dad hit a tailspin and never recovered. She had learned the hard way that people are jerks and had gone to live with her relatives to recover. These two get to grow up and along the way learn some new things about themselves. It's an emotional story brilliantly written dealing with some difficult issues. This author does it with characters that face the ugly and come out better. I love this author and her style and am always excited to see what comes out next.

I really liked this story but it had some problems.
The story is about Amelia who is visiting her aunt and uncle, because of some trouble she had in her hometown and Randal who is trying to come to terms with his home life and his alcoholic father! Amelia and Randal was friends as kids and hung out with a whole group of friends in the summers she visited Asheville!
They meet again and start out as friends but fall for each other along the way. Randal fails to communicate his feeling to Amelia and creates a lot of problems along the way.
I had some problems with the writing style in the first part of the book and I thought the characters were really flat and I really didn’t feel for them, but when I got further into the story the characters became more alive and I felt more of their troubles, wishes and hopes, and started to like them a little more. I am definitely intrigued to read some more of the stories in this series.

Shoot Down the Stars is another sweet and beautiful story in the Taking Chances series.

Here we get Amelia, a girl who used to have a happy life and personality until she is betrayed by those she called friends. We also meet Randall, who has a hard life at home.

Together they discover is possible to trust and love again. Katrine gives us a HEA with no drama as usual, that's why I love this stories so much.

Amelia fears getting attached to a guy after she experienced heartbreak in her home town so she moves in with her aunt and uncle to build herself back up.

Randall has a tough life at home playing parent to his dad who had been on a downward spiral since Randall's mom left them when he was a kid.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters are very likeable and the story was well written.

I LOVED RANDALL AND AMELIA SO MUCH!! These two MAY just be my favorite couple yet!!! I adored how more than anything these two just genuinely wanted someone to love and want them, and that pulled at my heart strings something fierce. I am a strong lover of emotional books and this one was so perfectly emotional. And by emotional, I don't mean sad or sappy, I mean it has to have every emotion in the book!

These two both were going through so much when they met, they both thought they didn't "need" a relationship. BUT I love how they started their "relationship" with this amazing friendship. The witty comments and the subtle flirting WAS SO GOOD! I LOVED that they joked around about becoming besties and how they truly cared about each other so much. It always seems that when couples start out as friends their relationship becomes that much stronger when they couple up. Because of their friendship, I almost felt like their relationship had been a little stronger than the others. Now without giving too much away, I can damn sure tell you that doesn't always mean shit. These two were also not the best about communicating!!! It's always so frustrating when characters don't communicate with each other, but without that drama I don't think the book is ever the same.

Now, drama, holy cow did we have a good bit of that! That was another great factor in this book. Not only was there drama in the lives of Amelia and Randall, but we got to see some interesting things happen with the group of friends. That being said, I WAS SO HAPPY TO SEE EVERYONE!!! I LOVE how close this group of friends are, and I adored how supportive they were of Amelia and Randall being together. The best part? They don't mind calling each other out on their shit!! If it weren't for these friends this book definitely would have taken a different turn. They were the best!

There isn't much else I can say without giving too much away, but I loved every minute. I loved that Amelia and Randall dealt with some tough things in their life, that they had their insecurities, but that they let their love for each other overcome all of that!

Amelia was broken by her ex who used her and continually embarrassed her in front of people in their home town. She was forced to move away and stay with her aunt and uncle, Tonya’s parents, to escape the town’s ridicule. Randall is forced to be the parent in his relationship with his drunken father. He’s taken his verbally and physical abuse for years and pushes everyone away because of it. They decide to be friends to help each other heal, but they can’t fight the attraction. I didn’t like how Randall admitted he stood up girls before. He also wasn’t very nice at times. Despite what he said if I was Amelia I would be afraid he might turn his anger against his father to her. It helped that they were friends first, but Amelia shouldn’t have rushed into a relationship after being so depressed. She needed time to figure out what she wanted in life and what would make her happy. This YA romance had plenty of back and forth, questioning lack of communication, breaking up, and getting back together.

This is the 7th book in this amazing series, and is Amelia and Randall’s story. Amelia is heartbroken and needs to get away from her hometown, so she goes to stay with her aunt and uncle. Randall has given up on love as he deals with his alcoholic father. These two just want somebody to love them as they are. Can they overcome past demons and heal each other? This is a well written story which is a must read. I recommend for all.

I struggled through this one. I'm not sure why I didn't connect with the characters or the story at all. I felt like both Amelia and Randall spent 75% of their internal dialogue complaining and whining. I finished the book, and had it been the first in the series, I would not have bothered. I'm hoping book 8 is more enjoyable.

Started out slow but as to story continued the connection between the main characters got better until the hiding of emotions and what’s wrong got in their way and caused them to have problems. For me this felt more like a YA romance then adult romance.

description

Couples are spinning around the floor, celebrating the marriage of the girl I used to have a crush on in high school. But she isn’t the one capturing my attention. No, it’s the girl I haven’t seen in years.
Amelia, Tonya’s cousin, used to spend the summers here when we were kids. She was so full of life, and always bouncing around like a damn cartoon princess. She saw the world through rose colored glasses while I saw it for the shit hole it actually is.
Something has changed, though. Her smile is forced when people talk to her. Her gaze barely moving from the floor unless someone is directly in front of her. I’ve wondered about Amelia since seeing her at the New Year’s party at Tonya’s. The weight of the world on her shoulders was evident then, but it’s worse now. As if she’s one straw from breaking into pieces.
I know that feeling all to well. Growing up the way I have, it’s hard not to be cynical. Seeing all of my friends coupling up and living their happily ever afters pushes me further toward the fringes. But maybe I can befriend Amelia and we can be in our own little world of misery.
Someone slaps me on the shoulder. “Dude, you should smile more.” Marshall laughs from beside me. He’s always so upbeat about life. I envy him. He’s never had to struggle. At least, not the way I have. The only time I’ve seen him mope is when Bianca wouldn’t answer his calls last year. Now that he has his tattooed vixen by his side, he walks around as if nothing could burst his happy little bubble. I wonder what it’s like to be that excited.
I shoot him a wide grin. “Is this better?” My lips straighten out as the music changes to one of those line dance songs that are customary at weddings.
“That might be the fakest smile I’ve ever seen.” Shaking his head, he directs his gaze to the group of girls dragging a protesting Tonya toward middle of the yard where everyone is dancing. “It’s a time for celebration.” Noticing my scowl, Marshall’s brows pinch in worry. “You’re not still harboring a crush on Tonya, are you? I thought you said you were over that when you got in that fight with Jake last summer.”
“No, I’m not interested in her anymore,” I roll my eyes. “I haven’t been since before we graduated.” Crossing my arms over my chest, I take in the scene. Christmas lights are strung throughout the trees and a couple of floodlights illuminate the yard. We’re all dressed in our Sunday best after a last minute hitch forced the wedding to be moved here. “I just don’t want to be here.”
“Being here is better than being at home,” Marshall gives me a knowing glance. Yep, my home life sucks. But this sucks just as much.
He’s not going to leave me alone about this. He’s determined to make everyone as deliriously happy as he is. “I’ll try to have a good time.” Bianca moving closer to us catches my eye. “I think your girl is looking for you.”
“So she is.” He turns until he’s standing directly in front of me. “For real, Randall. Have a good time. Be happy for them.” He doesn’t wait for a response. Instead, he jogs toward Bianca and wraps his arm around her waist. Lifting her up, he twirls her around until her head falls back in laughter.
Jealousy swirls through my gut. I may be bitter about love and relationships, but I want that. I want someone that gets me on a deeper level than anyone else.
Amelia stands and my eyes focus on her once again. Sadness surrounds her and I want to know who put it there. Not knowing if I’ll ever see her again, I take a step in her direction. Before I make it over to her, Tonya’s hooked her arm around her and sweeping her off to the house.
My shoulders sag, and I turn toward the side gate, ready to leave the party. Passing by the windows, I can’t help but glance at the two women standing there. Amelia’s wrapped in Tonya’s embrace. I want nothing more than to walk inside and comfort her. Something draws me to her, and I can’t explain it.
Fighting the urge to open the door, I continue toward the gate knowing I’ll never get the chance to know the girl who seems just as broken as I am.
