I was looking for a way to supplement my current French training and came across this 2 Hour audiobook. Although the material was very beginner, and I didn’t actually learn anything new, I gained a lot of respect for Paul Noble and his course. This Essential French course (in audio format) should be where anybody who wants to learn French should start. Paul Noble (and his native French speaker assistant) walk us through, word by word, with the students being tutored while learning to build full sentences by adding one word at a time. Yes, the content is very basic (and the repetition can be tedious at times) but the method would work for anyone to wants to learn the basics. There are other Paul Noble courses that build on this one, and use the same learning method. I don’t give 5** very often, only for books make a big impact and can stand the test of time. This one does.
Delivery was great, and for 2 hours, it is a lot of French. My only disappointment is that it's more of an accompaniment to a course that already covers introductions, money/time, directions, and so on. It does read through the alphabet and numbers quickly at the end of the lesson, but it's not incorporated into the course.
I had to put this book/language down. I do not enjoy learning French. Between English, German and Spanish, I expect vowel and consonant sounds to make some sense. I don’t think French is like that. It’s too frustrating to be any fun.
This one went too slowly...I need to be careful as to which ones I choose. There seems to be a sweet spot with learning...if you really don't know any French, this one is for you...
